Our food was top notch and excellent. The service was not where you would expect for this kind of establishment. We were promptly seated but then probably sat for 10 minutes before our waitress came over. She was friendly but perhaps had too many tables to cover. Long delays to get drinks. We tried to order another round of drinks shortly before our dinner arrived. Our dinner came and we once again tried to get drinks. When our waitress came to check on the dinner we asked about the drinks again. Finally as we were done with our dinner we requested she cancel the drink order. 5 minutes later she came back with our drinks and said the bartender just poured them. Disappointing..... read more

Seems like a bad buy on managements part. Then I set the empty carafe on the end of the server in front of the table while she took drink orders, she looked at it, then walked away...? If sat there empty most of the meal- aka they came back several times to take our food order, give us food, and check in before they finally filled it again. Drinks were decent, can't really mess up a mimosa I guess. I thought the food was gross and bland, I didn't eat it. The rest of my party liked their food though. This review is for the Cafe part of Hamley's. We were a party of 6 visiting from out of town for the first time on Saturday, June 13th just before 4pm. We stopped in for some ice cream before heading back on the road. The woman working at the counter with brown hair and glasses was helpful and patient with our big group. I wasn't aware at the time that it was so close to closing. Having worked in service roles my whole life, I fully understand how frustrating it is to complete closing tasks when there are people lingering around. With that being said, a quick heads up would have been very helpful, and made it so we sped up our visit. At no point during our visit did any of the 2 employees working mention it was approaching closing time. I will accept fault for not looking up the posted closing time, but again, with it being our first visit, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. After being served our ice cream our group sat quietly at an indoor table enjoying our treats. The other woman working with blonde hair seemed visibly upset we were in the cafe. She was pacing around grumpily and even ignored one of our guests who wanted to ask her a question regarding the cafe, not once, but twice. We proceeded to continue eating our ice cream when about 10-15 minutes later, the same woman, without warning very angrily shouted at our group "Seriously you guys, it's 20 minutes past closing. You need to get out of here!" Motioning towards the door. I was genuinely speechless with her callous and rude behavior directed at us. I will reiterate again, we were not warned or informed during our visit that it was approaching closing time or asked if we could enjoy our ice cream elsewhere before she escalated the situation. Management needs to sit down and have a serious conversation about this type of behavior. It is entirely unacceptable and unwelcoming. From what I see, Hamley's takes pride in being one of the best restaurants in Pendleton. I would expect that this reputation comes from excellent customer service which was not demonstrated in the cafe today. It really is a shame too because we did have an excellent lunch in the saloon. The food and service were fantastic. Were it for the cafe soley, I would rate this 2/5 stars because of this unpleasant interaction. But, because we had such a great lunch and plan to come back to the saloon in the future, I will give 3 stars. Another guest from my group fully intends to contact management in the near future to discuss the situation that occurred today. We hope our future visits will go much better. read more

First visit: Reserved on Open Table on 4-9-26, but not needed. By 7:30, it was half empty. The old Western feel was nice, but the poor service and management were disappointing. "RON" was the manager. Requested a booth but got an odd table in a small corridor. Management moved it for extra seating. After 15 minutes, I asked about our server. No one stopped by our table. "Dominique" arrived apologetically. She was great, knew the menus well, and was personable. I ordered the Prime Rib at her suggestion and "Ranch Garden Salad." My wife had their "Daily Special" Soup and Roast Beef. The salad arrived over 30 minutes after we were seated, and the place was only half full. The Blue Cheese Salad was excellent, with fresh ingredients and homemade dressing. The soup was wonderful, almost like a Chili. The Prime Rib arrived 15 minutes after the salad, a bit rushed. It was cooked med rare and seasoned to perfection. (Outstanding!) The baked potato brought was incorrect, the replacement was sitting in half an inch of melted butter, obviously resting under a warmer for some time. The "Grandmas Roast Beef Dinner" was enough for two and out of this world! It was tender, flavorful, with rich gravy, good potatoes, and vegetables. This steakhouse is excellent, though not a 5-star with tablecloths. The food is outstanding, but the service was terrible. The manager, Ron, should have intervened when his server was overwhelmed. I hope upper management will review this and take action to help Ron. If the service had been better, this would be a solid 4 and a must-stop. I know this is a food review, but this place gets 5 stars just for the building alone. Set in a 100+ year-old building, this place is so cool. And our breakfast meal was truly a five star meal. The Eggs Benedict were incredible and the French Toast was some of the best I've ever had. Perfect egg batter with a hint of citrus and cinnamon. Brioche bread cooked perfect with a carmelized edge. After our meal we walked around and checked out the memorabilia and even went down to the cellar area to see the private area that can be used for a gathering. First time in Pendleton and first time at Hamley's. Dominque was our server and was just the right amount of attentive to our table. We were celebrating my father in laws birthday and she made us feel so special. The rest of the family ordered filet and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked. Lots of choices for add ons. Vegetable just the right amount of crisp. I had scoped the menu out prior and was not disappointed in the beef stroganoff. Best pasta. Meat so tender. Perfect sauce. Also the rollllls!!!!! We stopped in for the 1st time for Sunday brunch. The good stuff first. Love the vibe and the decor. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Now the bad. We made our order but my order came out first. I waited for my wife's which never. Apparently the kitchen forgot to cook hers. When it finally did come my food was cold so I asked to have it reheated. Instead of reheating it they threw it away and cooked a new order. By the time it came my wife's was cold. We were told the kitchen was way off today because they had a special group they were trying to serve and they were short staffed so the assistant manager was having to fill in the kitchen. Our server, Madison, was working her second day but she was very apologetic and in the end they comped my meal and included a dessert to go at no extra change. A place supposedly known for their steaks... failed me Wednesday night. I took two coworkers and a business partner to dinner there. They mistakenly gave my coworker's steak to me - medium rare. Mine was to be medium well just outside of pink. It too was too bloody and under cooked. They made me a new steak - exactly the same way. Bloody and not cooked nearly enough. She had them cook it longer... meanwhile my fellow dinner guests were nearly finished with their meals. I got my dinner back. It still wasn't done properly. A $66.00 ribeye... The manager never came by and the server brought my dinner bill - with $13.00 deducted from a dinner in excess of $300.00. The explanation on my bill for the discount was Satisfaction. Total win!! From the very second you walk in this place is a YES. The aesthetic is absolutely amazing. Really take a moment and walk around the building because there is so much to look at and see. They have these giant wall sconces that look like cowboy Spurs and those old tiny glass lamps. There are these ceiling fans that connect to each other and keep going. The ceiling is a work of art. The bar itself is absolutely stunning. It's amazing. The staff is friendly, nice very helpful and on top of their service. The food is another level. I have absolutely nothing to complain about this place whatsoever. I was not here during a busy time so I can't say when it gets real busy. But our food came out very quickly. We had the Smashburger literally perfection. We also ordered on their happy hour the onion rings and they were crunchy And hot and real damn good. They serve my favorite kind of fries with a soft batter and I had a jalapeño lemonade made with whiskey and honestly just really I have absolutely nothing to complain about this place. Around the corner from the bar if you go down the hall, there is a private poker room in the back And the bathrooms are on the right exceptionally clean. There's these stairs that lead down this stone wall hallway I have no idea what's in there, but maybe you can go take a look. We had another very good experience at Hamley on Saturday before the concert. As last year, the restaurant was hit hard by concert goers. This year, they opened up the dining room and reservations. I made a 1:45 reservation and we had a very nice visit. Our server was Rebeca and she was tremendous. Very friendly and outgoing. I had the Prime Rib Melt and our daughter had the California Cowgirl Burger. Both were huge and had lots of French Fries to enjoy. We took 1/2 of our sandwiches home to enjoy later. The Caesar Salads before were excellent. Full of flavor and the homemade croutons were incredible. We also had the Heritage Chardonnay again this year and it was very good. We will likely revisit again next year if the line-up at the Whiskey Fest is as good as it has been. read more

We have eaten at Hamley several times in the past, 2015,2016 time frame. Service was stellar and the food fantastic! This was the total opposite of what we expected. Our Dinner Club meets monthly and we all eagerly awaited this meal. Never again, it was horrible. To start, my wife and I arrived at 6:10, for our 6:30 reservation, and let the hostess know we could wait in the bar if necessary. The restaurant and bar were not busy by any means, lots of empty tables and seats. She seated us immediately though, which was nice. But we sat there ignored until 6:40 before I could flag down a waitress to ask for water and place a drink order! Our waitress arrived a few minutes later and took our drink order, and disappeared. 30 minutes later she came back and asked to take our dinner order. I asked where our drinks were, and she stated they were coming, that the bar was extremely busy. It was not....... We gave our dinner order, and our drinks finally arrived. One of the drinks was a mistake, and had to be sent back. The ice in my drink was nearly melted from sitting on the bar for way too long....... Our Caesar salads arrived, and drowning in dressing! Absolutely inedible. The waitress came and took them away, and said she would take them off the bill. The entree arrived, delivered by a young man, not our waitress. I and another member had the prime rib. He had ordered his medium rare, and it came more on the bloody rare side, while I had ordered mine medium, and it came more well done. But we were starving, and decided to just suck it up and eat it. The garnish vegetables on the plate( carrot and something else) were burnt beyond recognition ( pictures attached), and covered in a greasy sauce, but surprisingly cold! The meat itself was not very warm, and flavorless. Again, we did not choose to send them back, opting to cut our losses and just finish and get out of there. On a positive note, those that had French fries were very happy with them, saying they were hot, well seasoned and crispy! The waitress dropped off our bills, and surprisingly all of them were wrong. When she came to collect them we pointed out all the errors, and she tried to tell us that she was aware of the discrepancy and that they would get corrected when she ran our cards!!!! So why show us incorrect bills then??? In closing, I feel that this restaurant has lost all its quality and credibility standards. There doesn't appear to be any training or oversight of wait staff, and for all the hype about the executive chef, nobody seems to care about food quality either. We will not be back and can't recommend this restaurant. read more

So we ordered it since we LOVE Elk meat and asked for it to be medium rare.!! Very disappointed..... the Elk burger came out dry, under seasoned, very overcooked and they left off the tomato slice. Garri did bring plenty of side sauces though !!. The Elk Burger is not something I would order again. Only thing good was the cold beer & the fries were very tasty !! Not going back for food.... WOW! A hidden gem in the middle of Oregon's beef country. I stumbled across this hidden gem by accident while visiting my mother. I had traveled 5 plus hours from Seattle to visit my mom on Mother's Day. Tired and hungry on Sat. I let myself wander through the town and passed an unassuming sign -Hamley Steakhouse and Saloon. Usually in small towns like this I don't have high hopes of the standards I experience in the Greater Seattle Area. We have El Gaucho, Asadero, Rare Society, and Walla Walla steak just to name a few steak houses. Upon entering the restaurant my breath was taken away by the beauty and the obvious history of the area represented in the restaurant. Not fake kitsch. Wait staff were on point upon entering. Seating me and bringing me water , and a dinner menu, and asking if I wanted a drink menu. No waiting, no long lines, no inattentive wait staff. 100% attentive. Looking at the menu I was very impressed with the quality and pricing-example a 14 oz New York Strip at a Seattle steakhouse-$84.00 with sides costing EXTRA-$11-18 EACH. Hamley- 16 oz NY Strip with 2 sides-$54!!! I ordered the NY with the two sides plus a cup of cauliflower soup. Soup was silky and delicious. Steak was a PERFECT med-rare. As I was waiting for my food I noticed the other diners around me and I confess "eavesdropped". The couple next to me ordered the bone marrow app. OMG it looked soooo good. Most restaurants the bone marrow app is a small round slice of the bone with a quarter size of marrow. This was a long bone sliced horizontal. I kicked myself for for not getting that. Next time! Eavesdropping some more-I noticed a lot of "cowboy hats". LOL. Beef producers! If beef producers are eating at a steakhouse-you know the beef is QUALITY. Huge kudos to the procurement team, the front of house and the back of house. I can't wait to return. read more

We had a terrible experience unfortunately, we were told by a lot of people that the food and service was excellent. I made a 4pm reservation (first one) and got seated and drinks ordered by 4:10 ish, we watched all the tables get drinks, and appetizers. Meanwhile I looked for our waitress who was no where to be found. Another server stopped by and asked if we had ordered our drinks and I told her yes, a long time ago she said she'd check right away and never came back. Now it's been over 25 minutes and I head to the bar to just buy my drinks. The bartender says "table 218?" Yes, your server never put your order in. Ok, that's great. She got me my drinks and I headed to find my sever because now it's 4:40 and we just have drinks, that I went and got myself. I find the sever and confront her about my order and she says she put it all in and I keep asking her are you sure the bartender just told me you didn't put our drinks order in and then she admitted finally that she didn't. But said she did put the food order in which I don't believe that either. I asked for the manager who was quick to try and fix things. The server then brought all our food at once proving that the order was never put in. The food was bland and not good. We never said anything at that point as it didn't even matter. The manager got approval to give us 25% off which we didn't care about because at this point we had wasted 50 minutes of our time and were so frustrated, nothing was going to make this right. The server by the way never apologized. She came back to the table a few times to deliver the items and never once said sorry. Neither did she offer when I was confronting her about not even having bread on the table to bring us some. Overall, I would never go back. Also, I rarely leave a bad review unless it is horrible. But I fully leave reviews as much as possible because I rely on them when I'm traveling and making reservations. read more

While the steak was cooked as requested and the drinks were good, the salad had brown lettuce, the veggies were overcooked, and the peach cobbler was served cold. We came in for our 11 year anniversary. We got seated at a lovely table and as always the ambiance was fantastic. We ordered the appetizer on special but the server came back to tell us they had no more. Sad. So we got the prawns. Decent. But pretty spendy for what you get. Then the drinks came. They were delicious as always. Fairly strong, but a good problem to have. lol Next was our entrees. Absolutely delicious and nice temperatures on the steaks. Really loved the main course. Dessert was bread pudding. It was also very good. We did feel like the service was a little lacking. Felt a bit abandoned for a while here and there. But the server was very nice. Two older men came in while I was standing at the host stand and got very close to me and kept trying to speak to me. Made me very uncomfortable. Kirri was attentive in spite of the fact it was Pendleton Round Up and crazy busy! Our server, Nicolle was also excellent. Based on the excellent service it is clear our awful food had to of been a one off due to Round Up. But when you order a "wild prawn" cocktail you don't expect 6 warm verging on hot shrimp only slightly larger than popcorn shrimp. Add to that fried fish that is dripping in grease plus cold in the middle you've got a disappointing meal. But again it was during Round Up. We had dinner last week. Ate there a few years ago, and when we planned this recent trip I knew where we would have dinner. My husband started with a salad and I talked him out of his usual and he had the spinach salad, loved it. We both had steaks and I like mine cooked a little more than most. When it came out I was sure it was under cooked. I cut in and sure was. It was quickly returned to the kitchen and came back really good. But those vegetables! I have never had ones so perfect. I do not like cooked carrots but decided to try them. OMG! Best ever. I told my husband he needs to figure out how to make them so we could have them everyday. I had the sangria, which was really good. My husband finished with the mud pie, which I had to help with since it was so big. The place is just beautiful. The bartender and wait staff were absolutely fantastic!! I had a med-rare ribeye. It was nicely done and buttery tender. BUT the filet wasn't fit for my dog.
