This was my 2nd time having dinner here and it was just as fabulous as the first time. Our waitress, Sandy and James were fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service offered here. We started with the Huckleberry Lemon Drop cocktails and an order of the pork belly appetizer. That's when we knew we were going to like this place! We shared the onion soup which is presented in a unique manner with crispy onions. We also shared a Caesar salad which was crisp and chilled. The Hubbs had the Kobe burger, fries and asparagus. I had a small filet with baked potato and Brussels sprouts. Needless to say, we took enough home for a second meal. Another outstanding dinner! We had "Pattie" as our server this time and seriously you could not ask for anyone better. Great smile, easy to laugh very attentive but not overbearing. She (Yes Pattie) made me their speciality "Dirty Martini" to start and she actually muddled the olives! It was fantastic... I had the Ribeye partner had a Filet. For your convenience, Dining Reservations can be made on-line via their webpage. Service from all parties was attentive & professional, as you would expect from a Fine Dining establishment. On this occasion, my wife had the Grilled Salmon, accompanied with Grilled Asparagus & Glazed Carrots and I had the Double R Ranch Ribeye accompanied with Hand-cut smoked Fries and Glazed Carrots. My wife complimented the Salmon dish for being very moist and seasoned perfectly to her taste. For me, the Ribeye was a tad dry and makes me wonder that I should have ordered the Ribeye Medium or Medium Rare, rather than Medium Well. Nonetheless, the Ribeye was satisfying and the Hand-Cut Smoked Fries was absolutely delicious. To end our evening, my wife and I shared a Blue Mountain Cheesecake, which was divine. It happened on our way travelling out of Washington State and decided to stop over for the night and wanted to give this restaurant a try. The snow covered landscape at sunset just provided a romantic back drop for dinner at Plateau fine dining at the Wildhorse Casino in Pendleton, Oregon. We ordered to share " Up in Smoke " for our starter, and we were happy that we made the right choice. Our appetizer was delivered to us under a glass dome of smoke (nitrogen) on a cedar platter. When our server lifted the cover and released the smoke, it presented shrimp, oyster, scallop and salmon; seemed like either lightly smoked or cured, all tasted heavenly delicious with choice of stone grounded horseradish vinaigrette and homemade seafood sauce. Every bite of the ingredients telling us that this dish is the craftsmanship of an culinary artist and masterpiece of gourmet delicacy, The main dishes to follow were Grilled Halibut with Chili Mirin glaze and Pan Seared Tribal Salmon with Tomato broth. Each entree comes with choice of two sides. My lady chose asparagus Hollandaise and Lemon rice pilaf, as for me, garlic & crimini mushrooms and baked potato. The halibut was grilled perfectly and taste yum,yum vs. my pan seared salmon which had a nice crust yet done medium moist, with a nice tomato slaw and the tomato broth was so flavorful and inviting which nicely complimented this beautiful fish from the Columbia River and the perfect baked potato with trimmings also made this meal very satisfying and enjoyable. I had a good ribeye steak but it probably was not a prime cut and the other guest in our party had salmon and it was also good. The service was attentive but not outstanding. We also enjoyed the expansive view out the large picture windows. From what I gather, this restaurant is one of the best for miles around and worth a visit and it seemed most of the guests were celebrating a birthday or anniversary. This was our second visit to Plateau on another trip through Pendleton and once again we had a wonderful experience. We didn't get to enjoy the beautiful view because of wildfire smoke but everything else was just top notch. Service was very professional and attentive and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The wine list featured mostly local wines, and we selected a Malbec that was excellent. We started with a ceasar salad that was fresh and had the perfect amount of dressing. For dinner we went with the bone-in rib eye for two. It came out cooked to a perfect medium rare, and was so tender and flavorful. With 4 sides (which were nice-sized portions) we were way too full for desert. After dinner we were unrushed as we finished our wine and took in the relaxing atmosphere. This is a true fine dining experience. I will also add I think prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, service and the portion sizes. read more

A posh place in an unusual spot, Plateau is a good find if you're on the road and need a bit of a fancy meal for your spirits. Pendleton is a fairly small town and the Wildhorse casino is quite isolated with the nearest larger city being about 45 minutes away. The scallop appetizer was the star of the show on my last visit and I find myself wishing for some more seafood options on the menu. The Ahi tuna steak is fresh, and a healthy portion however. My filet was cooked a nice rare-mid but I think they had a bit of trouble with timing as we were a large group. Perfect cook but unfortunately a bit cold, as were my crab legs. Everything well prepared but maybe died in the window? That's my guess. Good service, a little on the slow side but nobody was in a rush at all. Maybe that's preferable! This is a good experience that just needs a little bit more finesse to take it to the next level at the price of a proper casino steakhouse. It's good but could be brilliant! read more

My husband and I stopped here for the night and decided to have a great dinner. I'm so glad we did. The food was great. The staff was super friendly and the setting was a nice break from the casino. I had the land and sea and it was excellent. I could cut my steak with a fork. My husband had the shrimp scampi he said it was wonderful. We got their pecan pie cheesecake for dessert and I must say WOW it was probably the best dessert we have ever ate. And I don't like pecans really. Smoked appetizer was terrible! Shrimp and salmon were the only items eatable. The sauces served was a ground mustard and a medium salsa that did not go with the appetizer! French onion soup no flavor even though it did have lots of onions and cheese. Wait time for appetizer and soup was 40 minutes. My hubby ordered the whiskey New York steak at 45.00 and my 6 oz fillet and king crab legs at 54.00 had not arrived after 55 minutes. Utterly satisfied! There is nothing worse than going to a restaurant and eating tons of food and at the end of the meal, you wish you hadn't because you were either unsatisfied or dissatisfied. Well, this was the opposite. We had a surprisingly, delicious meal and it always seems to taste better when you don't go in with high expectations due to some poor reviews. First off, it was Valentine's day and they were booked and busy. However, our service was phenomenal! Our waitress was friendly and attentive without feeling like she was rushing us out. There were at least two other helpers who were always walking around replenishing your water glass and clearing off the dirty dishes. Very nice. As for the food, the restaurant owner must have read the prior reviews and adjusted their dishes because our meals were finely prepared with quality meat and not overly salty. I can tell you I am sensitive to salty food and it tasted great. We started off with the Crab Louie salad and steamed mussels. The salad was full of real crab meat, grape tomatoes and butter lettuce. The dressing was rich and had the right amount on the salad. I almost wish I had ordered my own salad instead of splitting it. I'd definitely order this again. However, the mussels were a bit of a disappointment. They were tiny and some were a bit over-cooked. The white wine, tomato, garlic sauce was not as tasty as most other restaurants I've been to but it wasn't bad, just not great. I wouldn't order this again, esp when it was $18.00. As for our main course, this was the shining moment of the night. Hubby ordered the pork tenderloin with the onion tart with sausage gravy, creamy polenta and pureed black beans. I ordered the chateaubriand with the truffle mashed potatoes and asparagus. Wow, just wow...reminiscing about the meats now. That pork tenderloin was one of the best pork dishes I've ever eaten. It was so tender, you could cut it with a fork and we did. It was cooked to a perfect medium with some pink in the center. I think I ate half my husband's dish. And that onion tart? Talk about flavor. Full of little sausage pieces in this gravy enclosed by this sweet Walla Walla onion covered with a layer of cheese. Need I say more? As for the Chateaubriand, it was like eating beef sashimi, tender, tender, tender. It was only 6 ounces so I had to savor each bite and of course, I had to share so I felt like I only had a few bites but those bites were divine. The mashed potatoes were definitely infused with black truffle. The flavor was strong and the potatoes were whipped perfectly. Not a lump to be found. The only complaint or suggestion I would have is to improve on their vegetables. The asparagus were kinda pitiful looking. Too thin and too few. If asparagus weren't in season, then I'd switch to a different vegetable like zucchini or squash or a medley of mushrooms with peppers and onions. By the end of dinner, we had no room for dessert. Oh,that's also because we ate all that fresh, hot bread early on with their butters: regular, garlic and huckleberry. Just try and stop at one slice. You can't and you won't and you shouldn't. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in any city. The view was breathtaking (if you like country), the service was spot-on and the food was satisfying. The presentation is great on all of the dishes and the wait staff is very amiable. The steak and grilled seafood especially are both flavorful. It is a very good choice for a fancy meal, and there are more affordable petit options for most of the dishes that are really good serving sizes. This is a delayed review, but we stayed at the casino and golfed last fall and enjoyed the golf course. The hotel stunk (literally). We tried to have dinner at their "fine dining" restaurant. Waiting for 15 minutes and no one even came to bring us water or menus. Walked out and will never go back. Don't waste your time. read more

We went as a group during round up and the dinner was fine. Nothing over the top fantastic and nothing terrible. Our table had a few steaks which were ok. They had a New stork and prime rib and we did the New York strip. The steaks were a little on the over done side but we chose to just buck it up and eat them given the fact that they were busy and re-firing our order would mean half that table would be done before the rest. One order of Salmon we did send back as it was way over done. They did make it right and the second piece of fish was much better. We also had a duck which was over frisée. The duck was cooked ok but the problem was there was a great deal of skin and the skin was very fatty and not crispy. So you had to chew through all the gummy fat to get to the meat. I would have preferred to have had crispy skin or just a nice sliced breast over the frisée. But that's just me! No dessert so can't comment on that. I will say the restaurants near the casino are nil so if your here at the casino this really is the only kind good choice for food. read more

This is a fine restaurant. The view is beautiful, the steaks are mouth-watering, and the service and atmosphere excellent. The dining room itself is small, but the seating is setup in such a way as to afford quiet privacy. From the appetizer to the steaks, the Glazed Halibut was great and dessert, the whole experience was great. The wait staff was warm and fun. The Executive Chef, Brian VonEggers has really put some thought into this. What will be exciting is to see what happens as he begins to really promote the Alaskan Seafood that he has worked with in Dutch Harbor, Alaska for so many years! This place is a dichotomy. The oysters were wonderful. As was salmon. The problem came when I ordered the crab cakes. They were horrible. Two came with small bits of dungeness lump crab in between snow crab or some such cheap crab. They were thin and looked like fritters. Not the nice tall round white crab cake you would expect to find in a nicer restaurant. Just thin poorly made crab cake you would normally find in cheap restaurant. The fillet was very good as was the baked potato. The view was great, although the restaurant was empty and they put us in an inside booth. I looked at the boring booth as my back was to the view. I made the 2 across from me move over so I could look out. It would be wise to put a few 4 tops at the window. If the restaurant is empty, let everyone look out. It costs the restaurant nothing. Replace or remove the crab cakes. Charge more if you want for them. Put some 4 tops near the window. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised by our dinner tonight after reading the reviews. Being foodies, we were very happy with the ahi appetizer, fresh and served in a sweet and savory sauce. I ordered the caprese salad and my hubs the wedge, both respectable. We split the half rack of lamb with truffle mac and cheese and asparagus with hollandaise sauce as compliments. Fine dining? absolutely not... they use heat lamps which make their plates lava hot, and the waitstaff does not warn you about the plate being able to burn off your finger prints.... they don't know how to cook pan fried oysters... and their burger bun is store bought... the food looked ghastly... the french onion soup is a joke..... i do not think i'll be going back to this "fine" dining restaurant again... read more

The Plateau has a comfortable atmosphere and a nice view, but for a "fine dining" establishment, this place doesn't add up. We brought my husband's family here to celebrate his Grandpa's birthday, and since they aren't the type to spend very much on a meal, I wanted it to be special. I wish it had lived up to our expectations. The bread they served before dinner came out warm with a trio of different spreads, so that was a nice start. Wine and cocktail list was impressive. 3 of us ordered the "Buffaloaf", hubby had the "deconstructed" crab pot pie, and someone ordered a special. I must say, while the service was good, it was a bit too slow for the items ordered, no one ordered a steak or cut of meat that would warrant a long wait. So when my plate came out hot, I expected my food to be. Not so. Meatloaf was luke-warm at most and felt undercooked. The meat didn't hold it's shape at all and was doused in BBQ sauce. The warm mustard-seed potato salad, while good, was way overdressed in the mustard sauce. Only 4 asparagus stalks on the plate. Cook the meat more, don't dress things so heavily, and give me more veggies! Hubby's dish smelled fishy, and not in a good way. I don't think he was too impressed. They give you complimentary truffles after dinner, which was nice. Considering the options in the casino, you might prefer this to the hot dogs and buffet downstairs. But for the money you'll spend, I'm not sure The Plateau is worth it. read more
