They pour out of the bottle and let you taste first before pouring the glass which is very nice. Full glass pour is generous. The whisky steak is good but only if you are a fan of peppercorns. I was surprised by the Caesar salad. It has sun dried tomatoes which I thought wouldn't be good but I ended up pleasantly surprised. I would pass up the chicken. My husband and I love Plateau! We try to go there about once a month. Sometimes they have wine or beer dinners, with a featured winery or brewery beverage with each course. Sad disappointment. $50 for prime rib that was some sort of tough steak, not able to chew it. Over $30 for the "whiskey steak" was an inferior steak, literally coated in cracked pepper. The only flavor it has was of pepper. The salmon was just salmon, not bad, but on a bed of miscellaneous foods that did not seem together. Hazelnuts, deep fried leeks, and at least 10 more various foods. It was as if they had thrown all the leftovers onto a plate and slapped some salmon on top. Dessert was "pumpkin cheesecake" which was dry cake with a loose flavorless frosting. The waitress was kind and efficient, friendly, but this was not 5 star service, as the prices reflected. I never expected the quality and efficiency I received last night. Even tho the entrance to the establishment is not well marked, the spectacular view, the variety of menu choices, and the overall ambience were remarkable. I only have two negatives, neither important enough to move the rating away from 5 stars. First, I was a little surprised that the wine-by-the-glass selections didn't include more Walla Walla production, given that the region is so close. And second, that there is such limited seating. Since the occupancy is something around 40, reservations seem to be a must. Admittedly a little pricey for regular patrons of the casino, the flavor, freshness, and presentation were quite appropriate. For suggestions try the asparagus side (never seen such a succulent vegetable), the caprese salad (use of heirloom tomatoes just magical), and the shrimp alfredo (creamy butter sauce better than Mom's). Amazing meal! Theses guys had some great service and my food was perfectly cook.... I had the seared ahi with scallops. Then finished it off with rack of lamb, baked potato, the green finished with pancetta and the sauce on those were just banging. Great wine selection and I will definitely be back again!! After reading so many good reviews about this pace, my girlfriend and I decided to try to place as it is supposed to be a nice place. I, myself work in the food industry and like to go to nice places. Let start by saying the wine list is great. The food, not so much. First off it took almost 5 min for someone to water and bread the table. Unheard of in a so called "fine dining" establishment. We first order the calamari which was decent. However, half of the tempura batter on the calamari wasn't cooked off and was clumped to together. My girlfriend order the 4 oz salmon. It came on this tiny playa. It didn't look to be 4 oz and was super salty. It looked more like an appetizer portion, as our plate of calamari was substantially bigger. Myself, I ordered the the 1/2 rack of lamb. There was no color to the plate. A tone of beige!! I ordered it med-rare. I cut into it and it was raw and cold inside. It looked like they just put it in the microwave. I never send food back but working in the food industry, myself, I just couldn't bear eating it. It arrived a second time cooked better but on another tiny plate!! The first plate was a 12" in square. The only saving grace was that they comped my lamb and offered to send a dessert out. At that point I wasn't excited to see what they had in store dessert wise. my wife and I were planning on taking a night away from everyday life and we looked around in pendleton for a nice quiet fine dining place and our choice landed us to the plateau. I'd admit the walk up the stair was a nice trip into the lobby where we were greeted by a hostess and what I believe was the manager. We were quickly offer drinks, which was nice I must admit. Now comes to the food. Plates looked very pretty like they were made it look like pieces of art. Another thing I noticed good about the plateau was that the chef was walking around the dining room floor and speaking with guests. I over heard the chef's name. I aslo made it a point to grab a managers card to let people know that I would give praise to Joshua and Jeff in making the plateau a great place to go to enjoy a nice quiet dinner for family or spending it with a loved one. read more

Second in my review series is the Plateau Restaurant. I usually order the Pendleton Whisky Steak, which is fantastic. It is tender and moist (you can cut it with a fork) and I love the black pepper topping. The restaurant itself is above the casino. It is a laid back atmosphere, in contrast to the hustle of the casino floor. Service is excellent and the calm pace adds an element of relaxation and tranquility. Prices are a bit steep, but for a special occasion or just a whim this place is well worth the money. read more
