Thai Crystal is a must stop for my next trip through Pendleton. The Shrimp Fresh Rolls were fresh and crisp, and beautifully garnished. Also enjoyed the green curry and the spicy basil. Loved all the vegetables in spicy basil-also that they were not overcooked. Only thing that could be improved would be more basil since this flavor was not very dominant, despite the name. Small town with limited international options , but Thai crystal didn't disappoint in terms of taste. All the items we took were pretty well made-Pad Thai, spicy noodle , crystal friend rice , stir fried Thai cashew with shrimp and minced beef . Our main issue was with the Person who too the order. She didn't seem too interested in having us , not welcoming and didn't bother to have proper eye contact while taking orders which made communicating difficult. The restaurant space felt more Chinese style when walked in, the menu had a lot of options. The noodle dish we got said it had a spicy sauce but it wasn't at all, and lacked a depth of flavor in my opinion. My mother enjoyed it. The avocado green curry was good. We had gotten mango sticky rice to go which the out in a styrofoam box, and I found out they topped it off with a lot of the coconut sauce as it ended up leaking out in my car. A very pleasant surprise during a recent stopover in Pendleton. When the hotel recommended, we were unsure...but the results far exceeded expectations. Ingredients are fresh...the preparation solid...and the results were generous and delicious. Started with their Thai dumplings. Very good. Their take on traditional Pad Thai was fresh and above average. For me the star was their "three sauce chicken." Perfect crispy fried chicken on a bed of cabbage, carrot, and broccoli...topped with an excellent sauce. Wonderful. Restaurant on our Wednesday visit was less than half-full at 6. But their takeout service was quite busy. Worth a visit. Oh, and be precise in your heat level....they can make many dishes very mild. read more

I'm giving Thai Crystal five stars for several reasons. First of all, someone is really putting their heart into the place. You can tell from the carefully-tended plants outside to the miniature waterfall that greets customers as they walk in the door that the owner cares about the restaurant. Secondly, service is fantastic. Our waitress was friendly, just the right level of attentive, and very accommodating to our dietary preferences. She talked to us about Thailand, cities she's been to and cities we've been to. So nice to get that level of service. Third, the price: We got two dishes and two appetizers, and the total cost was just barely over fifty bucks -- the cheapest meal we've had in Pendleton so far. Now, the food was not the most authentic Thai food I've ever had in the US, but it was decent and there was plenty of it for what we paid. But overall our experience at Thai Crystal was very nice and we'd definitely recommend the place, so it gets five stars. read more

Quint little family run Thai Restaurant with BIG FLAVOUR! This is our second time passing through Pendleton on route to Portland from SLC, UT. Our last visit was about 3 yrs. ago and our good experience from our first visit bring us back! On a Sunday around noon, the restaurant was pretty full, with a big family gathering in the back and a few more tables of 2s & 3s. We got our booth soon as we walked in, menus were presented and soon after our drinks. With the lady all by herself most of the time, her service was still very attentive and friendly. Food came pretty fast, we got two dishes to share, we ordered both items 4 stars for spiciness: Pad Thai with Chicken: Their version is moist with more sauce then others, still very well done with the noodles still very al dente! There were lots of chicken throughout the dish, they did not skimp at all with ingredients, all were cooked to perfection and well balanced! Basil Beef: They are also very generous with the portion and the amount of beef we got was also above average, the accompanying peppers and green beans were all cooked just right without being soft, the crunchiness of the vegetables and the amazing sauce makes this a delightful dish to have with your Jasmine Rice! Oh yes, we added extra "Prik Nam Pla" as we both love our spice!! Lastly, I like to mention that the couple that operate this restaurant is very warm and friendly, which makes this charming little restaurant even more welcoming!! read more

The food for me in my humble opinion was so good I didn't even want to leave the restaurant. The staff was so attentive that they saw me with tears in my eyes and were so kind to ask me if I was OK. I ordered extra hot so yes I enjoyed that heat. I told them those are tears of joy because the food was really good and I love like I said the heat! We were in Thailand a little over a year ago and this place is just as good as the food in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and everywhere in between. I found this place on Yelp, read the reviews, and when we drove up and saw all the cars in the parking lot, we knew this place has to be good. They did not disappoint. As we sat down, we both noticed at the same time that they placed spoons with the forks. Many Thai restaurants outside of Thailand, you have to ask for a spoon. In fact one place we went to gave us serving spoons when we asked for spoons. The menu had pictures of each dish so for those not familiar with the food, there's a picture of what you will get! We ordered the Tom Ka (soup with coconut milk) with extra mushrooms and tofu. We also ordered the Panang Curry also with tofu, and brown rice. It was fantastic! We talked to the waitress who said the restaurant had been there for 8 years and most of their customers were travelers like us. She said they don't see many locals. I guess when you live in a cowboy town, you only eat steak & potatoes. Two stars on both our dishes gave enough heat so we could still enjoy the flavors. read more

There are two main reasons why I like to go out for Asian food rather than cook it at home. 1: I do not have a wok burner, it's hard to get that fiery taste that comes from being able to cook fast and hot. 2: is the refusal to use MSG, too much salt, and sugar. So when I choose to eat Asian food I do it hoping to get that fiery caramelization on my noodles or stirfry and I know I'm going to get that deliciously tasty, salty, sweet flavor that comes from the additives that we all turn a blind eye to. My spicy noodles that I ordered here had all the ingredients with a good amount of number 2 but it was missing that caramelization that I yearn for on my flat rice noodles. This is another great find on my travels throughout the West. I was staying the night in Pendleton and was not expecting to find a Thai restaurant let alone one this good. I ordered the fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce and avocado green curry with chicken. The two shrimp rolls were large ( saved one for next day) and the peanut sauce was the perfect thickness. This was the first time I had avocado in any curry and it was AWESOME!! The avocado added a nice smoothness to the curry which had just the right heat. Temperature hot was spot on and the spice level was just above medium giving the curry a little kick in a good and flavorful way. The taste is distinctive and sets it apart from other curries I have had. If you are not staying the night in Pendleton you should still order ahead and get off the highway to grab food from here. Easy on and off from either direction, just roll a mile down hill ( you'll see what I mean) and your pretty much there! read more
