So the food has gone down hill and the prices are beyond jacked! We got 2 menu items and it was close to $40 ( last time we got these same items less than 8 months ago the price was $24-$26 so I have no idea what happened.) I didn't get a receipt nor was I told the items went up in price. I have no idea what happened. when I was online the prices were $11.50 and $14. I'm beyond butt hurt about it because we used to be able to afford it but now with whatever increase happened there's just no way, and it's one of my son's favorite places. It's just not practical anymore. I wouldn't be able to comment on the service other than we got in and out quickly this time because it was a to go order, and because it was sooo slow. I've been going here for over a decade... maybe even 2 decades..? As long as I have been going, it's been the same family running it. They're so kind and their food is great. By far the most consistent Chinese cuisine in town for food and customer service. I always go for the "choose your own adventure plate," that's not what they call it, but you get the idea. Last night I had spring rolls, pork fried rice, BBQ pork, and sweet & sour chicken. All of it was perfect and made in an appropriate time. We ordered takeout and it was really good! Great General Tso chicken, lemon chicken, eggrolls and the broccoli beef with cooked perfectly -bright, vibrantly green broccoli and tender steak. We had plenty for two people and leftovers for lunch the next day. Highly recommend! read more

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a grade schooler... I'm now 30! The food hasn't changed a bit even with different people working however I think the biggest issue I had was wait staff! Menu is somewhat confusing. If you order a certain tray and you say "shrimp" it's already in the box of items to choose from BUT they charge you an extra dollar for picking that item... NOT 100% sure why I'm getting charged for an item that's already in the list of items I can choose from! read more

We got the orange chicken, pork fried rice, egg flower soup, and pork egg rolls. The chicken was dry tough and gritty, the rice was dry and bland. The soup would have been fine if it weren't for what I think were finely chopped water chestnuts which felt more like chewing on pebbles and the egg rolls had almost no meat and were soggy. This was our first time trying this place and it will most definitely be our last. Just stick with kwongs. read more

For the price this is a pretty good place to chow down on some good Chinese food. However I have noticed that depending on the day and time of the day the food is either good, or not so good. If you get in there when they are not to busy the food is really good. If your going in while they are busy then your taking a gamble. Best bet, is to go on there non busy hours. read more

Was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant. The waitress was really nice, attentive, and fair. The food portions were great and really reasonable prices. This is the only restaurant we stopped in while driving through Pendleton, and we would actually stop in the town on a future trip. read more

Ordered chicken chow mein, and Mongolian beef. Got a box full of bean sprouts, and a box full of onions with five pieces of beef. Paid 35 dollars for it too. I highly suggest a pizza, or anything else really. Consider your options before picking this place. Also heads up the pork fried rice doesn't include vegetables, or pork. Just rice cooked in soy sauce. You could buy white rice, and accomplish the same dish at home; while saving 11 dollars. read more

I've been a loyal patron of Golden Fountain for 34 years. 3 weeks ago I was hired there as a server and instantly overwhelmed with the work load. I'm the only server for half my shifts, and have no others who share the load of what's usually 10 tables. Working there was so grueling and Qi Ruan (owner) telling me to be faster even though I was already taking more than my prescribed dosage for Adderall just to keep up. This business offers no legal breaks. Twice I worked 5.5 hours without so much as one 15 minute break. Servers (and back kitchen and dishwashers) never received proper breaks. After 3 weeks of such mistreatment I approached the owner Qi Ruan about my need for a 15 minute break every 4 hours, according to Oregon Law "The law requires workers to take all required breaks in the middle of each four hour (or major part thereof) work segment." I politely and privately explained how hard I was working and that I was dehydrated and holding in my pee, drinking insufficient water, sweat dripping into my eyes and speed walking everywhere in the restaurant just to keep up. She told me "Nobody else complains" to which I replied "That is because everyone working here is your family" (this is a family owned business that uses underage children to provide the majority of back-of-house duties other than cooking. Two underage children work there as young as 11 years old). She told me I was only allowed to take a break if there were no customers present in the restaurant (which never happens) or at the end of my shift when all my duties were completed. She told me "You only work 4 hours" and after explicitly asking her "Do you have any intention of following the law?" Qi Ruan stayed silent and turned her head away from me. Four times I stated "I need a break in the middle of my shift to sit down and urinate and drink water" and each time she would reply "four hours is not that long." This business exploits its workers and uses child labor. I will never dine there again. read more

We used to always go here for chinese since we moved to Pendleton. Before they closed their food quality and service had been getting poorer and poorer. Now after they're reopened, it's gotten worse. We ordered food to go and they not only messed it up badly but when we went back to them to fix it they said if we brought all of the food back untouched, they would think about it. I went here yesterday after being told it was the best Chinese food in town by a coworker. The food was alright however the service was terrible. We ordered to go for three people and waited almost an hour. In the meantime the servers completely ignored us waiting there. In addition to that, they wouldn't allow a substitution for chicken fried rice instead of pork fried rice...which I found pretty ridiculous. When we finally got home to eat, the chow mein looked disgusting. I wasn't even willing to try it. The sweet and sour sauce was standard. None of the food was anything to write home about. We have eaten here 25x. Food is good, portions are generous. Staff is friendly, service for sit-down customers is usually very good. Take-out orders usually take considerably longer than what you are quoted over the phone (ie: it'll be ready in 20 minutes, it usually takes at least 30). Tonight I happened upon, once again, one of the worst restaurants (Chinese or otherwise) in Pendleton. Why this sorry state of dining occurs constantly in Pendleton restaurants is beyond my comprehension. Whether it's laziness on the owners'/managers'/staffs' part, or just plain incompetence, nothing ever seems to improve, even after they receive really bad reviews on social media. First, at Golden Fountain you cannot substitute lo mein noodles for rice. You can, however substitute overcooked pan-fried noodles (which we got with our order) for rice. My wife ordered the sweet and sour chicken and told me it was overly sweet. I'll take her word for it. I got the "hot" Mongolian beef and it was anything but spicy hot. But this worst thing was not the food but the really bad service. What should have been a 20-minute order turned into a 35-minute order. And I ordered take-out IN the restaurant! Others who ordered over the phone at around the same time I did were complaining about the wait as well. Low and behold, one of the servers came out with a big tray of orders. Rather than giving me mine when it was (apparently) ready 15 minutes earlier, she held all of the to-go orders to distribute all at once! Unbelievable. I, for one, will never go back to Golden Fountain. They proved with their mediocre food and extremely poor service that they do not deserve my patronage. read more

if excellent chinese food is what you crave at damn good prices, look no further. located on main street a block away from the movie theater and other attractions such as the underground tours and the heritage museum. the friendly atmosphere will draw you in while the smells of delicous chinese food is being prepared will make you come back for more. prices are fair, $8.75 for my personal favorite, the number 10, giving you pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, bbq pork, and shrimp. $16.50 can feed a family of 4 dinner and then leftovers when you call in your order to go. if your wondering if it's a good place to bring friends and family, even little ones the answer is yes. the employment is friendly and the joint has a certain calming effect. if you don't trust me then i supose you will have to check it out for yourselfs. i leave this review with one last thing to say, live long Golden Fountain!!!! read more
