Small portions. I am bias as I come from the west side which is knows for it teriyaki joints. Overall this place is ok. Ordered takeout one evening for first time. Three chicken t dinners and some pot stickers. Came to like $65 without tip so something over $70 in the end. Although the chicken was good, the portions were very small. The rice was on par but again, smaller scoops. Salad was just fine. I will keep looking. Tri cities is obviously lacking in good T joints and this place was no exception. I say lower the price a bit or offer more food. $14 should get you a good amount of chicken and rice. Chicken is pretty cheap at Costco (we shop there too). Just my two cents. read more

Their portion sizes are a lot smaller compared to some of the other teriyaki joints in the area. While some places boast their ability to deliver multiple serving sizes, this place strains to catch up. They even slice up the teriyaki meat super thin as if to try and make it last. Can't believe I have never tried this place before. And I can't believe I have never manned up and tried sushi before. Ok, it was a California roll but it was a start... I had the bento chicken as well, and man was it good. The sauce to dip the lightly breaded pieces of chicken was awesome. Kinda BBQ, yet so much more. The service was friendly but kinda minimal. Then again I was chowing like a madman so maybe they were afraid to lose a finger to my feeding frenzy... Not something you see everyday -- a teriyaki restaurant with table service! Bento also has sushi and bulgogi. On a Saturday morning, the restaurant quickly filled shortly after the 11:00am opening time. One guy was really busting his butt running around and waiting on all the tables. I ordered the beef bulgogi, miso soup and a side of butterfly shrimp. The miso soup was, well, miso soup. The shrimp was deep-fried and came with a sweet dipping sauce that tasted like pear and was very good. The bulgogi came on an interesting sizzling platter. The platter was wood with a metal dish in its center. The metal dish was shaped like a cow. This might help remind some diners that they were eating the insides of a cow. The reason I ordered the bulgogi because a dude at the next table ordered the bulgolgi and it smelled so delicious! So I was really flummoxed -- the beef in my looked good, but the meat had a terrible off-flavor. Hopefully, it was just a bad batch. It was a chilly chilly 11degrees out as I finally made my way to Bento (I had been meaning to check out this joint forever, and called in for some take-away). I opened the door was was blanketed in a warm and yummy aroma. I was amazed to see a packed house. There was just one server working the dining area, and she was all over the place. I went with the Chicken Teriyaki meal (complete with two scoops of sticky rice and a side of lettuce...errr...salad). Since I'm a growing boy and am always daring, I had to guinea pig-ify myself and try a sushi roll (the California). The latter was alright. I can't believe how LITTLE wasabi they gave me, I coulda easily snorted what they provided & been fine (luckily I had some at home---the Cub Scout in me--I'm always prepared). The highlight was definitely the chicken teriyaki. The chicken was succulent and the sauce was yummy and paired well with the rice. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Tri! My go-to's are the chicken or tofu yakisoba and my mom's is chicken teriyaki. We also love to split the tempura vegetables because it's the perfect amount to share and is delicious! Everyone is so friendly and I've always had good service! I've seen some people on here weren't happy with the serving sizes but the yakisoba and teriyaki has always been the perfect amount, in my opinion. I can't really compare to other restaurants' portion sizes but I'm always full and sometimes even have leftovers. This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall and even though it's nowhere near my house, I'm always happy to drive a little farther to get it. Tried this restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is at the end of a strip mall and seemed like a popular place. The longer I sat there, the more people came in. They had a lot of menu items I would like to try. Even though I went in for a snack, I ended up getting carried away and ordered too much. This trip, I had the Beef Bento and an Eel Roll. Along with a soda, the price ran about $26. The Eel Roll was good. I would be interested in trying some of their other sushi offerings the next time I go. The price wasn't too bad either. The Bento box came with a large salad, shrimp and vegetable tempura, rice, beef, and a choice of gyoza or egg rolls. I liked the price at around $13.00. It did not come with as much food as I am used to having in a Bento Box and the beef was a bit on the dry side for my taste. It might have been better had I asked for some additional teriyaki sauce. It did have good flavor. On the whole, I would be willing to give this restaurant another shot whenever I am back in town. read more

I've always liked this place regardless of the portions of the sushi rolls being a little smaller than other places I've seen. I feel like the food is very fresh tasting and high quality here. They have a somewhat limited selection when it comes to their sushi but it's not the focal point of their menu. Their chicken teriyaki is delicious and prices are fair. The service is very polite as well. The waitors/waitresses have always been friendly and forthcoming each time I've been there. Some of their menu items would probably also even appeal to even the pickiest of young mouths that only want chicken nuggets and french fries. read more

I just stopped in to Bento teriyaki after driving four hours. I ordered chicken teriyaki so it came with rice,chicken, and salad. It was $10 while the price wasn't steep. I feel like the servings were too small. I was a bit confused as she charged me a couple $.25 extra I did not bother to ask, so I'm not sure if that was for the container or the hot sauce the red hot sauce, I ordered. My love for Bento knows no bounds. First of all, there salad dressing is to die for. So you know that waste of space salad you get at every other teriyaki restaurant? Well at Bento, every part of the meal pulls its own weight. When I get take out from Bento, even if my girlfriend isn't really hungry, she makes me get an extra salad. The Yakisoba is delicious, and I ate a bunch of it, until I discovered how good their teriyaki was. All their teriyaki is soft, juicy and delicious. There Bento is to die for. The tempura is stand out, and their tempura sauce has no rivals. I usually get extra gyoza instead of an egg roll, not a huge fan of their egg roll, but my main complaint is that they are not open on sunday, and it is very hard for one seventh of my life to be sans-Bento. Also, they don't have a huge sushi menu, just 4 or 5 rolls all of which are cooked (the tempura shrimp roll is super tasty though), which keeps Bento from being the only japanese restaurant I go too. read more

I know 5 stars seem a bit much for a simple teriyaki joint. But Bento really is that good. We have eaten here over 100 times in the last 4 years or so and we're hoping to make it another 100 at least. The teriyaki is good, the yakisoba is good, the bulgogi is good.... it's all good. There are plenty of Teriyaki options in the Tri-Cities. Bento's is a locally owned teriyaki restaurant serving fresh food with plenty of taste. While I've only been a few times, I've got to say that Bento's is quickly becoming a healthy favorite. My personal favorite is the teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki is sweet but not too salty, and their portions are really satisfying. Their Bento boxes each come with your choice of meat teriyaki, steamed rice, salad, vegetable tempura, gyoza, and egg rolls. It's extremely filling, and not at all heavy feeling. Bento's also offers sushi, yakisoba, fried rice, and sizzling barbecue platters. They have a kid's menu, and daily lunch specials. Bento's has a nice seating area and good customer service. My only dislike about the place is that when you walk in, you feel like you're on stage...a little partition here and there would be nice. All in all, it's great food for a decent price. At the price point I expected it to be largely self serve but I went to order and was then sat at a table and given a menu even though I told them what I wanted. Then they asked me if hat I wanted to drink I said just a cup for a fountain drink they made me decide what kind, I had the cheap minute-made lemonade. I waited about 10-15 minutes for my food, there was one other couple eating and nobody else ordered while I waited. Then I went to pay and was FLOORED at the drink price. I had zero refills, when they rang me up $2.35 for that 12 ounce cup of soda. Take away? Order your food to go on the phone, if you really want barely edible bento, then get a couple two liters across the parking lot at winco for one drink at their drink price. I wont be back. read more
