I love Suchi Ya. Every time we come we are greeted with smiles. Personally, I love their bowl options. I tried all 3 bowl options, the Hwe de Poe, its like a salad with salmon and you choose how much you want to put as spice. The second is the Poke Bowl (my personal favorite) with Salmon. Is sweet, a little spicy, nice combination of cucumber and feels fresh. Lastly is the Cheroshi, with all types of fish (chefs choice) with a lot of rice. The prices look intimidating but the amount of food you get is so fulfilling. One bowl is enough to have you stuffed the whole day! I come here often, so I have a lot of food to review. Personally the crunchy California Roll is my favorite roll from them. I wish I could remember all of the rolls names but I have tried a variety from them all of their presentation is unique and absolutely beautiful. The chicken teriyaki is my dads favorite dish because of the rich flavor of the chicken. The salmon teriyaki is also really good and you get a bowl of the teriyaki sauce for you to pour to your liking. Got takeout for dinner from this place and it was relatively fast! Fast service and the space inside had plenty of seating. I got the udon and a scallop hand roll. Both of which were good! The scallop hand roll is best eaten fresh to avoid the nori from getting too soggy. I thought the scallops were pretty fresh so this was very enjoyable for me. As for the udon, this was great comfort food. It was a super cold day so having a hot brothy meal was perfect. The soup was so delicious! Took my son for a sushi date at opening so it was vacant. The server was nice enough even though she forgot our extra ginger. The fish on the other hand was not so good. We ordered the sashimi platter and a few rolls as we both are raw fish lovers. Unfortunately as soon as we put the fish up to our mouth you could smell that it was not fresh or they did not store it properly. 10+ years ago this was our special treat restaurant, nowadays it's our default for sushi and my husband has decided when I tell him to decide where to go for a dinner out it's sushi. They've consistently improved the interior and added new menu items. Still lovely inside. The only down is we tried to go at 7:30 on a night they close at 9 and were told they weren't taking more customers. Disappointing, but I won't take a point off for it. I have a mixed review to share. The staff were professional and extremely pleasant to deal with. The restaurant was clean, and the ambience good. But for what I ordered (about $70 of take out), I was immensely disappointed with the food quality. The sushi and sashimi entrees were not fresh. They smelled funky right out of the box. The texture was slimy on fish that isn't supposed to be slimy, and so I threw those out. I also ordered the nabeyaki udon. It was sweeter than hot maple syrup, pretty much. I have no idea how much granulated sugar was added to the soy sauce in that broth, but it had the amber color of molasses and the worst taste. That was also tossed. Not sure if I just ordered the wrong things, but I ended up going to Aki Sushi nearby that week instead. read more

I've never been disappointed by this place, and that says a lot considering I've been coming here for years. The food, ambiance, and prices are all top notch, especially in comparison to certain other Japanese places that charge an arm and a leg for variety. You can get two basic but still delicious rolls for less than $20. When I went in a month ago they had a "two for $15" special that was almost too good to be true. Not sure if they're running that promo anymore. I ordered the lunch bento (photo below from an earlier date!), which has virtually the same items as Sushi Mori, their competitor close by, but they charge $8.50 instead of $10.50 for it. Yum! The chicken and rice was super delectable as was the 4 pieces of spicy tuna roll. The salad didn't have much dressing, but was covered in these crazy fried onion pieces I couldn't get enough of. The service always seems very busy, as it appears they don't hire a lot of girls to run the floor (I only saw one).
