We heard about this buffet from a family member and decided to go regardless that it was Father's Day weekend. We arrived right at opening, which was at 11am. There was a line already, but the staff was quick to seat us. We expected there to be a line because it was also Saturday. The staff were very friendly and efficient! They also were great at seating us in a section where my mother's wheelchair could easily maneuver. My favorite was the cream cheese wontons and the sushi options actually surprised me. It was good. Definitely recommend a vanilla/chocolate ice cream cone on your way out! The bathrooms were quite clean during our visit! Which is greatly appreciated! Thank you Sakura! read more

I was looking forward to my cheat day here, the line was out the door, you can only expect the best, right?! Wrong! Yeah, they have a large variety of seafood. A large amount of Chinese. They make sushi. They have some options for kids. They have an array variety of desserts. They have misters in their front door entry. BUT... We paid $37, No drinks, just water, for 2 adults and one 3 year old toddler. Our other option was olive garden and at least we know we would have had better service, better seating, and more relaxed ambience to enjoy our cheat day dinner. BUT BUT... The food, even though many options, was just "meh". Very mediocre Chinese, desserts were stale, ice cream was watery, all just "meh". BUT BUT BUT... The place was packed, like sardines, everyone was in everyone's business, even the food is too close to each other so I bumped booties with strangers trying to get to the the food. We waited in line out the door on a 106 degree day. The service was bad, besides bringing our water and taking our plates once, we were never asked if we needed anything, I did want tea. They brought our check way too early, hinting us to hurry cause they had more people coming. I should have ate in my town's Chinese restaurant, they have a small buffet but tasty. GROSS is all I can say! The FIRST time we went my husband found a German roach on our table! We took a pic and smashed it and showed the workers. They gave us 10 or 15 percent off our meal to make up for it. You would think we wouldn't return but about 8 months later we returned for a SECOND time. Wow.. Our drinks were sooooo flat I am not joking! I got a Pepsi or Coke and in talking FLAT. So I thought maybe if I ask for a another drink the issue would be fixed so I got sprite- NOPE! FLAT! This is your middle-of-the-road Chinese buffet. The peel your own shrimp were larger than other buffets, but not very well stocked. They have sushi and sushimi. I couldn't find any egg rolls, but they did have spring rolls. This seems to be a local favorite around lunch time. Quite busy and it also looks like they get tour bus traffic as well. Large facility which looks like they could host events and parties. Bathrooms were clean. There was nothing in particular which I thought was great. Service was good. This restaurant was the worst buffet we have. We had really bad experience in this restaurant. We are travelling and saw this restaurant and had to try this one. Food was 'meh', refill of food takes longer, restaurant itself was not clean and restroom smells bad. And the worst part, after my husband pay the bills and we are heading to our car, the owner or the chinese lady was shouting to us. Telling us we didn't pay our bills. 'What?!?' Came here on my lunch, wow people were packed in here like cattle. I was expecting a much bigger buffet, it was mostly filled with salad condiments, fruit, and dessert, one bar was Chinese food. So far the food is pretty bland, I was completely SHOCKED when a employee picked up food from the bar counter and placed it back in the pan with the rest of the food. EW. Stopped off here with my tour group. Granted, we came around the odd your lunchtime of 1:45 pm but it was surprisingly busy. We were able to get seated quickly. They have sushi (don't get too excited... California roll only), orange chicken, beef with broccoli, and other panda express-like food. I've eaten here since it opened (late 90's or early 2000's?). I was puzzled by several recent 1 star reviews. I haven't been since the pandemic started, so I thought it was time to go back and give it a try. Does it really deserve 1 star? I don't think so. My visit was on a Tuesday afternoon about 3 PM. I thought it wouldn't be too crowded at this non-prime time. But it was very crowded. A lot of people really seem to enjoy this place. The place does have a zoo-like atmosphere. But I can't equate success with a poor yelp rating. You have to pay first now, which put me off just slightly. Don't they trust I'll pay my bill any more? Soft drinks are now self serve. The food is about the same as I've remembered it in recent years... decent... better than other Chinese buffets in the area. One of the things I like the best, is the build-your-own Mongolian Grill area. It was stocked with all the usual items (including shrimp), and grilled by the same gentleman who's worked that station for several years. It was very good, as usual. Some recent posts noted they don't have crab legs anymore, which is true. But as they transitioned over into dinner time, there were plenty of seafood options... Muscles, several shrimp options, and oysters on the half shell which I hadn't seen before. Prices have been raised... and I didn't feel I was getting a proportionally better experience for the extra dollars spent. Bus boys who once brought you drinks, and took care of your bill payment, now seem to be demoted to simply clearing off tables once people leave. My lunch-priced meal was $15 and change... plus a dollar for the grill guy... plus a couple of dollars for the bus boy... and you are approaching $20 for lunch. I've always liked this place, and will return. But there are enough issues I can't give 4 or 5 stars. But I can't go 1 star either. I'll call it a guarded 3-star, as of today. I can say that this place, Sakura Buffet, has all that, plus way more when I came to experience it for the first time. Located right in the heart of Bakersfield, Sakura Buffet is one of the cheapest priced buffets I have ever been to. I came during lunch hour with a party of 4. For each person it came out to around $8. Drink was separate. They have quite a variety of food here including pizza, eggrolls, noodles, cakes, biscuits, spaghetti and such. My favorite dish was the noodles with steak and bell peppers that the cook actually prepares for you himself! It only takes roughly 4-5 minutes for your dish to be ready. It kind of reminded me this little Mongolian place that prepares your plate right in front of you. Yes this place is quite big inside so space and seating is plentiful. It can get very crowded during the lunch time so be prepared. Usually I would not give buffets very high ratings but this place exceeded my expectations and my visit here was just amazing. Plus they have a small "lake" inside with actual koi fish. Cheap in price and great tasting food overall with such a wonderful staff to run it. Yes I am coming back when I go back to Bakersfield. My experience was as bad as it can get. I was led here by an advertising claiming it to be one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the country. I've seen that in other remote cities (Anchorage, AK) and know it's false advertising. But since I was new in town, I decided to try it. First, the food is about what you'd expect in a cheap Chinese buffet. Nothing special. I really don't know what else to say. Second, the service. My wife kept coming back complaining about some Chinese employee from kitchen staring at her. At one point, I had to confront the guy because he went too far. When my wife turned he was right behind her face to face grinning at her inches from her face. She was totally creeped out and wanted to leave. I went up to the guy asking "Do you have a problem with my wife?" He looked away and wouldn't meet my eyes. And just stood in one place really nervous. I felt sorry for him and just let it go. Upon returning to the table. I hear my little girl scream. I looked towards where she was pointing to and found a cockroach on the top of the chair next to our table. It ran away while the owner rushed to catch it. They couldn't. So that cockroach may still be there. You know what they say about cockroach. You see one and there's 2,000 more hiding in the wall. Anyway, that was the last draw. We just paid and left. Owner didn't even apologize. Am I ever going to return there? Absotively possolutely NOT. There are other cheap Chinese buffet in town where I don't have to deal with creepy employees bothering my wife or cockroach sharing the seat. read more

Always crowded and every time I go I get seated all the way in the back into "the new Dinner Room" which is feet's away from a bathroom -,- , Seafood (Salmon)is good but sushi I wouldn't recommend since its a cheap version. There is no free refills ( Cup smells kinda funky) and chopsticks are given if requested and "Soup spoons" are given. Also, the tables are so dirty and have food underneath. Desserts, Jell-O. ice cream are the highlight. ONE thing that bothers me is the FRUIT.... because its Canned and not Natural... exp- Peaches are just dumped out of a big can and put in the tray to be served to the customers!!!... wtf?!?!-___- p.s. It always to Loud, and people get in your way while you try to make it to your seat. I've tried several buffets in Bakersfield and I'm not impress with any of them. Usually when the family gets together, we like to go to Lin Fusion in Fresno. (Best buffet ever). But when I'm staying in town, this place will do. It's decent food. Their seafood selections are great and the sushi is good too. Wifey loves their sweet and sour soup with crunchy noodles on top. Good food, but there's too many dishes are too spicy. Gave me heartburn! Even the fish balls and clams are spicy. Should be just regular fried fish balls. If people want more spicy, can't you put it on the side? The bathroom always stink and dirty. You need a constant battery operated Air Freshener Stray in there. I hate to sit the side near bathroom. You can smell the stench. The carpet needs to be cleaned often, try putting or sprinkler Baking Soda or Carpet fresheners, especially back rooms. The back rooms needs better ventilation.
