Best hibachi in town! I always love coming here. Their food is amazing and they are extra careful with me because I have a shrimp allergy. They make sure they either cook the shrimp after all of my food is on my plate or they will use a separate grill if one is available. They never make me feel like I'm putting them out for having to do this. Their sushi is wonderful as well. read more

This place is by far the best Sushi from Meriden all the way down to New Haven. I have been here a few times now and every time i go the food is amazingly delicious! What impresses me even more is how friendly and personable the staff is. I don't know what happened within the last few months, but this used to be my favorite hibachi place. Emphasis on used to. Last week my boyfriend and I went and got hibachi from the kitchen - not sitting in front of the chef. Huge mistake. Huge. The food quite clearly had been cooked well in advance - a day or so possibly - and tasted old. The chicken had so much sauce on it - likely to hide the fact that it was made so far in advance - that my dog would not even eat it after we got home. The rice was cold and clumped together and the vegetables were limp. So dissapointed in Saki Mura. I've been here several times and it was never like this but quality has definitely been slowly declining over the last year. read more

Went here for dinner last night and had a bit of sushi. I ordered some sashimi which was tasty (but didn't need to be wrapped around cucumber). One of the rolls I ordered was the 'Spicy Lover' but all I tasted was mayonnaise, not a bit of spice (until I put the wasabi on it). My other roll was the 'Over the top', but it was kind of boring too - nothing over the top about it. Everything was tasty enough and the staff friendly, but the rolls were kind of bland for rolls categorized as 'Special'. read more

The food is pretty good but the service is terrible! I've been here quite a few times and this time, it was bad. My brother dropped his chopsticks on the floor and the waiter came by and put them back on the table! A different waitress was helping and she was great! I like this sushi place because it has good rolls and good hibachi food. I personally like the spider roll and sweet potato rolls there. I also like that you get a large quantity of food when getting a hibachi dinner. My only crutch about this place is the price. Compared to other sushi places around, this one is slightly more expensive. Still enjoy going on special occasions. read more

Had Take-Out from here last night. Didn't pick up the food so I can't rate the look of the place though my husband said it was packed on an ordinary Sunday night around 6-7pm. Ordered the Pink Lady & Sakimura Special Rolls and both were yummy. My daughter had the kid's Chicken Hibachi which was just ok. Came with more veggies then I typically see but was too salty and only came with fried rice, no noodles (which are her favorite) and no sauces, not sure if they forgot or just don't typically serve them. Sampled a couple of the other special rolls that my in-laws ordered and everything was good. Would definately go there again if in the area though I'm not a big fan of Meriden. But I guess it's close to Wallingford and in a decent spot. read more

My first time hear i had the hibachi which was pretty good but the second time we decided to order in the dining room which was a bad idea. I ordered the chicken teriiyaki and it was horrrrible and rubberery. A totally different chicken than the hibachi chicken. It was rotten and rubbery. GROSS. never again read more

We are still coming to dinner a few times per month. I still love the food. It is consistently good. The manager always stops by to say hello. The waiters remember us when we return. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to ignore my bother and go to Sakimura with my wife and two kids (6 and 4). First the good- We walked in and were greeted and seated immediately. The place seemed clean and the hibachi cooking area seemed smaller than other places, so it made for a more personal interaction. The Chef Simon was very good and he kept my kids attention through the whole performance (very tough to do). Noodles were included as part of the meal, whereas we usually have to pay a couple of dollars extra at other places. Now the bad- We ordered a kani salad and an Out Of This World roll to start. The kani salad arrived early and it was okay. Not anywhere near my expectations from other places. The sushi roll actually arrived half way though the hibachi meal and by that point I forgot all about it and didn't want it. I ate it anyway (since I did order it) and it was just Meh. Now on to the meal. There was a general overall fishiness that permeated the meal for me and my family. The clear broth soup was fishy (i have never had fishy clear broth soup). My wife hated the flavor of the noodles and she promptly pushed them to the side and did not eat them. I had the lobster/shrimp/scallop meal and the lobster and shrimp were fine, but the scallops tasted very old and overly fishy (yes, even for seafood). My wife said her filet was cooked well, but didn't have the flavor she has gotten at other hibachis. Both kids liked their shrimp and chicken and the rice and vegetables were okay, but overall we felt the meal was not worth the price we paid. Will not be making a trip back anytime soon. read more

To be clear. The food here was amazing. But I will never come to this restaurant again. The waitress with the short bob haircut kept staring at my kids, telling my kids to stop and just overall making me uncomfortable. Then when I asked for a refill on my daughter's soda she shook her head and said there are no refills. She started to walk away and I said okay I want one she said theyll charge me for another one. I said I understood and she hesitated before going to get the drink. I got the impression she didn't believe I could pay for extra drinks. Then my fiance tipped the chef because we got the hibachi and he did such a good job. And then they asked us about boxes and gave us the bill. We hardly had time to eat. So then he paíd the bill. When she came back she checks the bill right in front of us and confronts my boyfriend saying "No tip for the server?" He said he didn't like her service and on a $130 bill he didn't feel he should tip her for bad service. He said he tipped the chef and she was like "oh did you?" As if she didn't believe him. We just felt completely profiled and will not be returning. read more

Hibachi was good don't get me wrong. The chef was friendly and funny and overall the food tasted good. However, the server (a woman with a bob haircut) was very rude. We were rushed out of our table while we were still eating. Server started taking away our plates when clearly we weren't finished. The Busser came to our table started asking us if we were finished and we said no so he gave us to go containers and started cleaning anyways. The server gave the check and when a form a payment was given she looks at the card with a disgusted look and walks away. Due to the bad service, I will no longer be supporting this business. I noticed how the other table (white customers) where not rushed even though they were there before us and our table (latino customers) where given dirty looks from the servers and we were rushed out. Clearly this establishment has a problem with minorities. So therefore, I will take my minority money elsewhere. read more

Quite likely the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. First, let me mention the negatives. Some of the more special rolls can be quite expensive here, but they also deal heavily in some hard to secure ingredients. Another is that well, the Hibatchi chefs are a bit hit or miss here in terms of entertainment. Now, the positives. One is that the 1-item Hibatchi dinners are consistently cheaper than most places in the region. They run from $17-$22, with only lobster tails and sea bass really out of that range. Plus, adding a second item is very worthwhile. The Steak they serve is a nicely cut NY Strip, it's so good it's worth ordering Rare. Also, unlike many places, they also add noodles to the hibatchi. So on top of the rice and veggies and meat/fish...you get a pile of noodles. I recently ordered the Steak and Shrimp, only $23, and walked out simply stuffed. As to the Chefs, they can be very good. One time I went and he even had counter-jokes for those who already know the 'routine' and was very witty and chatty. Another time the chef we got was very shy and didn't seem to have the personality for a table-side style chef. The food was all done fine and all and they do the usual show, but they range from superb to below average in personality. It's definitely my new preferred Hibatchi joint. read more

I enjoy Sakimura and have eaten there numerous times. The hibachi is a lot of fun, with wildly entertaining chefs who prepare delicious meals. My boys loved the show however they are young and got a little freaked out during one point when the chef lit alcohol on the grill. The resulting blaze scared my both of my boys. I love sushi and have had the opportunity to eat a number of their offerings. The fish has always been fresh and there is a lot of variety of their rolls. The service is good and the prices are appropriate. I definitely recommend. read more

The food here is good and it's nice to go here with large parties. Portions are on the large side so I was very happy. It can take a little bit for them to cook your food but it's tasty and it gives times for you to order an appetizer if you wish. Not a bad place. The ambiance is nice, the staff is OK, the show...well, it depends on who you get. The meat is great, so is the rice, but they over do it with the noodles. For what you pay, you should get a choice. I would much rather have rice, than half a plate of dripping, salty noodles. We brought my daughter here for her birthday since she loves hibachi. Our chef, simon, put on the best show we've ever had at a hibachi grill. Food was very tasty and cooked to order. I especially loved the large amounts of vegetables. The wait staff was courteous and the manager made sure all our needs were met. We will certainly return. Love love love this place! The hibachi chef's are extremely fun and interactive. I've been there twice in the last month and both times I've ordered two different drinks, my favorite would be the Flirtini (Martini drink). The food was pretty tasty too just watch the amount of Saki they use because it can make the food a tad bland. read more
