When my friends is looking to eat a lot of sushi then Sushi Palace is where we go. We also get seated quickly and order comes out fast. The place is spacious and comfortable. Some would say a little run down but the staff is friendly. The food is pretty good for an AYCE (All You Can Eat). I am not expecting high quality sushi when I come here. But it is good enough and we get stuffed. I always get the clear mushroom soup and the seaweed salad. My favorite from the kitchen is the shumai and the fried calamari. Just be aware on how much sushi you order cause you can get full pretty quickly after eating the kitchen food. We like to pace ourselves and you can always order more once you are done with your first round of food.

Unfortunately this place just continues to get worst and worst. The kitchen food was okay but the sushi is definitely not fresh, It tasted like it was defrosted. Service wasn't great, had to call of the waitress numerous times. I prefer quality versus quantity. Don't come here if you're looking for quality Sashimi.

The servers are great and friendly. We got there at 5:45 on a Friday night and the place got busy as time went on. We ordered some kitchen items like miso soup, fried veggies and edamame. The oil smelled like it was old and reused for a few days and could barely finish. We got kitchen skewers which were drier than usual. We ordered a lot of sashimi and sushi. They were great except the fish was not very fresh and definitely frozen. There was blood from the tuna which grossed me out. The white tuna smelled fishy. The rolls were better because the other ingredients such as spicy mayonnaise and avocado masked the fish smell/taste.

Sushi Palace in Milford is the one to go. Much larger, better service and a big parking lot.

Best sushi I've had in this area, and maybe some of the best sushi. Spicy crab rolls are outstanding! Clean, and a friendly staff.

At the time, I found the ramen competent and the interior pristine, spacious, and modern. Returning for a second visit, I'm happy to report they have withstood the test of time, maintaining high standards for both food quality and cleanliness. To provide context: when Roishi first opened, it felt like ramen shops were everywhere. Fast-forward a few years, fewer shops remain, and unfortunately, many of those survivors just don't stand out to me. The mid-range sushi scene has proven equally unimpressive. Aside from high-end establishments like Hachiroku Handroll Bar, or the outstanding Gohan in Southington, most mid-range joints disappoint with mediocre quality and a lack of creativity. Many may start off strong in quality, like Niu Sushi in East Haven or Sayori in Orange, but eventually their standards slip over time. In the current food scene in Connecticut, finding a restaurant that excels at both ramen and sushi is a rarity. While I enjoy the Spicy Miso at Akatsuki in Hamden, their sushi remains lackluster. Conversely, from what I recall when they initially opened, the sushi at Takumi in Branford impressed me, but their ramen has disappointed. This is where Roishi shines. Perhaps my previous disappointments at other establishments have made me quick to judge, or maybe I simply caught Roishi on an exceptionally good day. Regardless, our last experience at Roishi has won me over, and it has officially become (for now) my go-to for a satisfying bowl of ramen paired with fresh, creative sushi rolls. It is clear the sushi chefs put effort into curating their menu and making their rolls look visually appealing. Our server was pleasant, professional and attentive without being overbearing. While the menu would benefit from rotating specials featuring higher grade ingredients, the restaurant's ability to maintain standards and consistency is a rarity, and is the primary reason I will continue to return as long as they continue to do so!

Everyone ordered what they wanted . Shared sushi and apps. The restaurant is small with enough table to seat others . When we walked in , it was very quiet! Where was the music?! Everyone can hear your conversation. It was that quiet. The menu offered apps, sushi, salad, noodles,Entrees, desserts and drinks( alcoholic) . One thing that was a disappointment was that staff is not fully knowledgeable about gluten allergies or the term gluten free. Our waitress didn't know what gluten free was. Also, when I ordered one of the rolls there was discrepancy in 2 of the menus on the description. I didn't realize until after. One did not say there would be crunchy things in it . The other said it did. I noticed after consuming and tasting something crunchy in the roll. That roll was shared will all my friends so luckily even though I ordered it I didn't consume it all . It was busy , the order of sushi was good and fresh .

My all time favorites are Beef Udon, and Potato Tempura besides the sushi. I am a sucker for aesthetics so when my first round came on a wooden tray, well, I'm sold for life. There is nothing like being served food on actual serving dishes rather than disposables during the height of COVID. This is a yay for me! Sushi is always delicious. You can mix and match between the sushi bar and the kitchen items or make a combo. I would recommend ordering another set when nearly finishing the first, conscientious of how much more you can eat so that you aren't waiting for a time, or, get some tea or a bit of sake. Servers are absolutely friendly. Wave for assistance if needed. Thank you for running this business for as long as you have!

With my recent visit to the Handroll Bar, I've hit my Trifecta, and I can say that all three businesses are standard setters in what they do. I have had handrolls, but I've never been to a "Handroll Bar". As with Shokudo, the outside of the Hand Roll Bar is understated, and you have to search a bit for the entry. There is a small transition space from the outside, and then you enter into a dimly lit room with an L-shaped bar on the left side of a minimalistic open space. Very atmospheric. They have paper menus, and you check the boxes of what you want. I didn't count the spaces, but I doubt that more than 15 people could eat at a time, and I only saw two employees the entire time I was there. This is obviously meant to be an intimate experience. And it takes time. I wasn't there for a full meal because I had an event. But I'm rarely in New Haven in the evening and I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to visit. I ordered two pieces of pressed salmon sushi with with salmon roe, a snow crab and salmon roe handroll, and a handroll with mackerel and ginger. If you don't know, a handroll is sort of a rustic, uncut, nori wrapped sushi roll. These arrived in Nori shaped cones that you have to hold to keep together. All of the food was elegantly presented, very well executed, had fantastic texture and tasted great. I look forward to returning when I have more time. 5 Stars
