    Chicken teriyaki

First and foremost, Tokyo II has one of the most extensive sushi roll menu's I've ever seen. My husband and I decided we had to try it! We were greeted instantly when we walked through the door and our drink order were taken. My husband was looking for something hot on a cold winters night so he ordered the chicken teriyaki which comes with rice and a soup or salad. I ordered the following sushi rolls: classic california roll, 2007 roll, and the sako roll. My rolls were delicious and very inventive. My husband's chicken came out on a sizzling hot plate, which I sampled and it was very tasty! We both enjoyed our meal's immensely! We shall return, especially since there are so many other rolls I want to try!

Lunch special is very good value. You have to come and try it. It goes well with hot green tea or sake.

The sushi here is standard and reasonable prices. And will most likely have your basic seafood necessities. I got a quick bite here, ordered online and got the food quickly. I ordered some nigiri as well as sashimi, mushroom soup, and crab salad. Nothing extraordinary but I enjoyed the crab salad. They have a good amount of parking at this establishment so I doubt anyone would have any trouble.

Good food. Have only tried the sushi here. Quick and friendly service. Ambiance is low key.

Sweet potato sushi and peanut avocado sushi

I started liking Sushi very recently and was looking for a place with vegan options. I came here because of the decent reviews. I tried the peanut avocado sushi, sweet potato sushi and veg tempura. My husband had some chicken sushis. Overall they tasted fine. I have come here twice for take out options later and both the times I felt their service is not up to the mark. There is no one to make any conversation with. On top of that they may have 15-20 minutes wait time. So one has to wait long without having a clue about if the order is ready.

Absolutely delicious Spider Roll (soft shell crab)...

Its been a long time since the Queen & I been at one of my favorite places in North Haven. Fortunately, we came back to celebrate my birthday, and was I was not disappointed. As usual, awesome service and delicious food. We had our favorite...spider Roll (soft shell crab). Great food, great staff and a great day!!!!

I usually get sushi when I order from here but have had their pad Thai which I think was ok, not the best I have had but def not the worst. It is a family business and the teenager daughter is usually helping out, very friendly. I like that their sushi rolls don't have a lot of rice on them, but plenty of filling! I usually get the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls, fish always tastes very fresh. I haven't sat in yet, just ordered take out. To me, they have better sushi than some of the other places in town and I haven't gotten sick there.

At the time, I found the ramen competent and the interior pristine, spacious, and modern. Returning for a second visit, I'm happy to report they have withstood the test of time, maintaining high standards for both food quality and cleanliness. To provide context: when Roishi first opened, it felt like ramen shops were everywhere. Fast-forward a few years, fewer shops remain, and unfortunately, many of those survivors just don't stand out to me. The mid-range sushi scene has proven equally unimpressive. Aside from high-end establishments like Hachiroku Handroll Bar, or the outstanding Gohan in Southington, most mid-range joints disappoint with mediocre quality and a lack of creativity. Many may start off strong in quality, like Niu Sushi in East Haven or Sayori in Orange, but eventually their standards slip over time. In the current food scene in Connecticut, finding a restaurant that excels at both ramen and sushi is a rarity. While I enjoy the Spicy Miso at Akatsuki in Hamden, their sushi remains lackluster. Conversely, from what I recall when they initially opened, the sushi at Takumi in Branford impressed me, but their ramen has disappointed. This is where Roishi shines. Perhaps my previous disappointments at other establishments have made me quick to judge, or maybe I simply caught Roishi on an exceptionally good day. Regardless, our last experience at Roishi has won me over, and it has officially become (for now) my go-to for a satisfying bowl of ramen paired with fresh, creative sushi rolls. It is clear the sushi chefs put effort into curating their menu and making their rolls look visually appealing. Our server was pleasant, professional and attentive without being overbearing. While the menu would benefit from rotating specials featuring higher grade ingredients, the restaurant's ability to maintain standards and consistency is a rarity, and is the primary reason I will continue to return as long as they continue to do so!

Everyone ordered what they wanted . Shared sushi and apps. The restaurant is small with enough table to seat others . When we walked in , it was very quiet! Where was the music?! One thing that was a disappointment was that staff is not fully knowledgeable about gluten allergies or the term gluten free. Our waitress didn't know what gluten free was. Also, when I ordered one of the rolls there was discrepancy in 2 of the menus on the description. I didn't realize until after. One did not say there would be crunchy things in it . The other said it did. I noticed after consuming and tasting something crunchy in the roll. That roll was shared will all my friends so luckily even though I ordered it I didn't consume it all . My all time favorites are Beef Udon, and Potato Tempura besides the sushi. I am a sucker for aesthetics so when my first round came on a wooden tray, well, I'm sold for life. There is nothing like being served food on actual serving dishes rather than disposables during the height of COVID. This is a yay for me! Sushi is always delicious. You can mix and match between the sushi bar and the kitchen items or make a combo. I would recommend ordering another set when nearly finishing the first, conscientious of how much more you can eat so that you aren't waiting for a time, or, get some tea or a bit of sake. Servers are absolutely friendly. Wave for assistance if needed. Thank you for running this business for as long as you have!

With my recent visit to the Handroll Bar, I've hit my Trifecta, and I can say that all three businesses are standard setters in what they do. I have had handrolls, but I've never been to a "Handroll Bar". As with Shokudo, the outside of the Hand Roll Bar is understated, and you have to search a bit for the entry. There is a small transition space from the outside, and then you enter into a dimly lit room with an L-shaped bar on the left side of a minimalistic open space. Very atmospheric. They have paper menus, and you check the boxes of what you want. I didn't count the spaces, but I doubt that more than 15 people could eat at a time, and I only saw two employees the entire time I was there. This is obviously meant to be an intimate experience. And it takes time. I wasn't there for a full meal because I had an event. But I'm rarely in New Haven in the evening and I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to visit. I ordered two pieces of pressed salmon sushi with with salmon roe, a snow crab and salmon roe handroll, and a handroll with mackerel and ginger. If you don't know, a handroll is sort of a rustic, uncut, nori wrapped sushi roll. These arrived in Nori shaped cones that you have to hold to keep together. All of the food was elegantly presented, very well executed, had fantastic texture and tasted great. I look forward to returning when I have more time. 5 Stars
