Came here for quick lunch. It was really quiet and it wasn't that busy on a Wednesday afternoon. Inside there was plenty of seating and very clean. The host sat us pretty quickly. I didn't really look at the whole menu but it looked like the had a lot of options. I went straight to the lunch special sushi and got 3 rolls for $15. I got the salmon avocado, tuna cucumber and shrimp tempura. It also came with a miso soup which was good. The sushi tasted fresh. I also got the crab Rangoon which was also good as well. First and foremost, Tokyo II has one of the most extensive sushi roll menu's I've ever seen. My husband and I decided we had to try it! We were greeted instantly when we walked through the door and our drink order were taken. My husband was looking for something hot on a cold winters night so he ordered the chicken teriyaki which comes with rice and a soup or salad. I ordered the following sushi rolls: classic california roll, 2007 roll, and the sako roll. My rolls were delicious and very inventive. My husband's chicken came out on a sizzling hot plate, which I sampled and it was very tasty! We both enjoyed our meal's immensely! We stopped by for supper last night and had a great meal. For Japanese, I find the prices to be a terrific value. I had the yakitori skewer appetizer which was delicious and very large. It was a little awkward to eat but worth it. For my meal I had the Crazy yellowtail roll. And it lived up to its name and was fantastic. It was weird and had a banana in it, and was deep fried, but tasted great and at a reasonable price. Parking is ample, speed and service was great. Credit cards are accepted, and they do takeout. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. The only negative I'd say if forced to was the music. The same japanese tune kept playing and was a little annoying after awhile, but still tolerable. read more

My husband had some chicken sushis. Overall they tasted fine. I have come here twice for take out options later and both the times I felt their service is not up to the mark. As you can see, I've been a huge fan of this place but I've been disappointed the last year or so. 2 times ago we got wrong sushi rolls but figured oh well, we'll try something new. Last time I visited the owner was yelling at her kids the whole time I was there. I don't mind the kids being there, I've watched them grow up over the years but wow! When I paid her and she kept the change (which was quite a bit) and she disappeared. Ummmm hello, Don't assume my money is yours unless I say keep the change. Tonight I gave them one last try and almost walked out before I sat because it was so cold in there. So cold that I had to keep my gloves on while I ate. Great choice for takeout the other night! My friend mentioned meeting friends for sushi and I suddenly got the urge after not having sushi in several months. Another friend said his favorite in the area is Tokyo II. Awesome recommendation. We placed the order through grubhub (the app said it was ready much before it was, though) rather than waiting for delivery. When we arrived, they had basically a small entryway area and a counter so nobody could really go -far- into the restaurant to pick up. A few others were waiting on the sidewalk rather than cramming inside. It was well laid out. Onto the order - we got a spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll (it's possible they were both spicy tuna but I'm not complaining since the salmon roll wasn't for me anyway!), pork gyoza, spicy scallop roll, and, I think, an ichiban roll. Overall it was a little bit too much food but they were all delicious - I loved the scallop which I'm not sure I've ever tried before. They also packed chopsticks and a few things of soy sauce with the order (though I've switched to coconut aminos recently instead of soy sauce, which I prefer and...seems to agree with me more TMI! haha) I was super pleased with the takeout here and would definitely pick this first next time I plan on ordering sushi. read more

I usually get sushi when I order from here but have had their pad Thai which I think was ok, not the best I have had but def not the worst. It is a family business and the teenager daughter is usually helping out, very friendly. I like that their sushi rolls don't have a lot of rice on them, but plenty of filling! I usually get the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls, fish always tastes very fresh. I haven't sat in yet, just ordered take out. I have never had an issue with Tokyo II. Even though I have never eaten inside the restaurant, I can't recommend this place enough. I usually get a dinner bento box, and they have had no problem substituting out the food with pork in it for other options. I love their miso soup and teriyaki salmon as well. The food is always prepared quickly, packaged securely, pretty warm even after being delivered to my home or driven back as takeout. When I submit reviews, I typically focus on the quality of the food as opposed to the service. I am subtracting 1 star because of the service or lack there of received today. It's a family establishment, and they had a disinterested teen operating the telephones and taking phone orders. She wasn't rude, but it did seem as if there were 50 other places she'd rather be. As an employee, I get it lol. Upon my arrival, there was a social distancing tactic in place. A table obstructing entry into the main dining area. It was between the young lady in myself. She was on a personal call when I arrive to pick up my order, and never acknowledged me. There were two takeout bags on the table and a food delivery service plaque besides them. Even after ending her call, she still did ask if she could help, if I was there to pick up, nothing. So, I peeked inside. I was finally able to get the attention of an older gentleman who said my food would be right out. So that's my 1 star debit... Onto the food. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special and opted for a salad. Not a big fan miso soup. The selection of rolls for their lunch special is pretty decent. I selected the shrimp tempura, the Philadelphia and the spicy California. I also added a spicy crabmeat. The shrimp tempura seemed to have a kick outside of the wasabi, but I enjoyed that. I went into this place with tepid expectation and fortunately, there were enough positive reviews on Yelp and Yelp offered a 10% off the check along with 6% cash back...so why not right? I ordered the shrimp teriyaki lunch box which also came with shumai and a California roll and a choice of soup or salad. It was pretty good actually and the shrimps were well cooked. My wife got the Luigi roll and wasabi shumai while my son got the eel with avocado roll and fried pork gyoza. All in all, the food is quite decent and while I wouldn't give it 4 stars, I would give this place a very strong 3 stars for sure. If you are in the neighborhood, definitely give this place a try. They also have low sodium soy sauce in non prepacked containers so that is always good to see. Because of covid, only take-out orders served. read more

After being traumatized by my board exam (haha) and still hungry following the post-exam outing, I came here to get some vegan sushi. After indicating my absolute no-gos because of my very bad shellfish allergy, I settled on the mango avocado roll and the vegetable dragon roll (avocado, asparagus and cucumber). This location offers brown rice rolls for an extra 50 cents, which is similar to Wasabi in Milford. The rice grains are not gummy and they are well salted, the avocado and other vegetables are fresh. I did not get sick, so I know they followed directions. For vegan sushi, it's completely serviceable. To be completely honest, Tokyo Sushi II, Sushi Palace and Soga (all on the same strip of Washington Avenue) all serve similar quality sushi, so the real difference is who is closer to you and who has a higher letter grade at the time of your order. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if I had a craving and happened to be at Prometric, I'd stop by. read more

As for as Sushi in the North Haven area is concerned, Tokyo Sushi II seems to be the higher quality sushi in the price range without trying to find parking in New Haven. Even with this, the specialty rolls are massive and filling, and do so by not stuffing your roll with extra rice. Respect! And with the 10% off AND 7% cash back from Yelp (can be compounded), Yelpers here should take advantage of the deal and quality. I have also catered from TSII, and can honestly say they will do everything in their power to make sure you cater from them again. For example, I ordered a large seaweed salad, and they added cherries and decorated it all with gold colored (albeit disposable) plating rather than a typical styrofoam standard boxing. Upon pickup, they even told me, "If you need utencils, want us to make it look nicer, need extra sides of rice, or anything else just let us know. Rating one star to even out the score...this is really a 3 star place. The edamame was covered in salt to the point it was inedible. Udon soup had no flavor. Sweet potato roll was more fried than sweet potato. The peanuts in the peanut avocado roll were candied peanuts, and the yellowtail jalapeño roll had way too much jalapeño...Not to mention the staff was kind of rude. I will say the other rolls were all right and the quality of the fish was decent. Would recommend sticking to the sushi menu and you'll be alright read more

All the YES. There are at least 2 other sushi joints within a mile or so of Tokyo Sushi II. But I wouldn't be surprised if they went out of biz because I wouldn't try either after dining here. FOOD: The shrimp shumai app has great flavor. They are little doughy meaty bites of heaven. But the sushi. Dude. The sushi. For the price you almost feel like you're stealing. I ordered a special roll (Alaskan Beauty - spicy salmon inside and fresh salmon outside) but why stop there? The lunch special has 2 rolls and a soup or salad for nine bucks. So I did that too.
