I have been going to the Red Fox since they opened but tonight they really hit it out of the park! The service, attention to detail, food and drinks were beyond any expectations! The outside patio was a perfect spot to celebrate my dad's birthday! 11/10 would recommend!! Thank you for making a special birthday even more special!! read more

What a night!!! My daughter picked this place for her birthday dinner and she loved it. From the first sip of her drink to the last bite. We decided to sit inside for a relaxed dinner with the piano background music. Our appetizer were really good , everything served on time and our waiter Kj was awesome, so patient and friendly. The main course was hot and served on time, the only thing I didn't like was the tomahawk was already cut and the hot plate was cooking it which it was served blue losing the experience and wondering if we actually got the entire thing . We had to send it back to be cooked to medium. The rest of our food was delicious, my daughter loved the Mac and cheese so much that we ordered extra to bring home. We were able to go to the patio where a band was playing and they sang the happy birthday to her, made her feel special. At the end of our nights she got a special treat from the Kj and again sang happy birthday. Thank you for this marvelous time. We will definitely come back. read more

I had an absolutely incredible time at Red Fox Restaurant & Bar and I can not recommend it enough! Everything from start to finish was a true five star experience. I started off with the Red Fox Coconut Mojito and it was so refreshing and perfectly mixed. For food, we got the Grilled Scallops which were cooked beautifully and had so much flavor. For my main course I treated myself to the 18 oz Dry Aged Bone In New York Strip. It was an absolutely massive and gorgeous cut of meat, cooked exactly how I wanted it, and so juicy. We finished the night with the Wild Strawberry Ice Cream which was the perfect sweet treat to end such a hearty and savory meal. The atmosphere was great and the food was just out of this world. If you are in Middletown you definitely need to check this place out. I will absolutely be coming back! read more

Had high hopes, welcomed pleasantly and sat promptly. Bread basket came out w butter - but it wasn't butter; was totally margarine and that's gross. Bread was dry. Then the flies and gnats came out. We were actively swatting away flies and gnats the entire time. Our server, Roger, put our plates on the table approximately 10 minutes after we ordered. The salmon on my salad was obviously frozen and was cooked to death. The fried burrata was cold in the center. Roger never checked on us, never offered to refill our drinks. I mentioned the flies when he retrieved our half-eaten food and he mumbled, yah, sorry about that. Zero personality and food was awful. Will not return. read more

I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but I was disappointed with how things were handled on Thanksgiving Day. I made a reservation at the Red Fox in Middletown specifically for their Thanksgiving feast. My friend and I arrived on time, hungry and with no other holiday plans. When we checked in, the hostess told us the Thanksgiving buffet had ended at 4 PM. I explained that I had a reservation, and she simply said she didn't know what to tell me. When I mentioned that the website didn't show any time cutoff, she blamed it on whoever manages their online postings. What made it more frustrating was seeing plenty of food still out from the buffet, yet we were only offered the regular menu something we didn't come for. We were hoping for the Thanksgiving experience and comfort you expect on a holiday. It was disappointing to be turned away and told to find an alternative when most places were already closed. I've dined here many times and always had a great experience, which is why this felt so unexpected. I just wanted to relax and enjoy a holiday meal at a place I trusted, but sadly, that didn't happen this time. read more

Great hidden gem! Tucked away, the Red Fox Restaurant offers an elevated dining experience without having to go very far. The menu has a great selection and the wait staff were attentive. Another exceptional evening at Red Fox. We began at the bar and took full advantage of their fantastic happy hour, enjoying $1 oysters, 75‑cent clams, and half‑price martinis made with Tito's vodka--truly one of the best happy hours around. We then moved into the dining room for dinner, where the lamb chops once again proved to be the standout dish on the menu--simply outstanding. We also enjoyed the ribeye steak and two pasta dishes, both generous in portion and full of flavor. A lovely bottle of Napa Valley wine, paired with live music and even a bit of dancing, made the evening especially memorable.Service was excellent throughout the night. Our waiter, Fico, was attentive and professional, and Manager Edo clearly runs a top‑notch team of true professionals who are at the top of their game. We will most definitely be back to this wonderful restaurant. read more

We came Saturday to see Marty Q but turns out he was playing in the bar instead of the dining area where we made a reservation. Dining room had a nice ambiance so we decided to stick with our table in the restaurant. Dinner started with a really nice trio of different flavored butter. Bread was meh. I would upgrade that a bit. It was also way too much for the two of us so a bit wasteful. I got the Red Fox signature salad which was absolutely delicious. Ceasar salad looked ok. Nothing fancy or special about it. Salads are a good size. Could definitely split those. Entrees are where things went wrong. My octopus (which I had for my entree) was completely burned on the underside and the chipotle hummus listed with the dish was missing. My boyfriend got the salmon and the risotto...I felt...was not good at all. We then had to hunt down our waitress to let her know about my octopus. They brought back another one fairly quickly, but this one was mushy and could've been cooked longer. They were nice enough to take that off the bill. The menu is pretty nice so maybe I'd come back and try something else. There are so many good restaurants out there though so might be awhile before we return if at all. read more

I went here with a party of 17 and they were really accommodating. We did have a reservation so definitely need to make one for large groups like that. Surprisingly no one's order was messed up with such a big group which was wonderful. All the food that we tried was delicious including the Red Fox salad which was delightfully refreshing, the buffalo chicken balls, and the calamari which was crispy but not drenched in oil. For the meals, I tried the blackened chicken fettuccine which was a large portion and absolutely delicious! The chicken and beef tips over mashed potatoes were also delicious. The tiramisu for dessert was really great, and often I don't like tiramisu but this one was really creamy and delightful. There is a good amount of parking and a bar area if you prefer bar seating. They also have a patio in the warm months. Overall, I'd go here again! read more

Enjoyed a family birthday dinner at Red Fox. We were greeted warmly upon arrival for our 6:00pm reservation and seated quickly. It was a slow Wednesday evening, but lovely. As always, food and service were great. Our waiter, Ennis, was awesome!! We enjoyed fried calamari as an appetizer. Our entrees were perfectly prepared including two NY Strips and a steak au poivre. The potato croquettes were also awesome. We will continue to go back. read more

First impression. The carpets are worn and pulling up. The paint on the walls is peeling and patched. The waitstaff was good. The food was mediocre. The prices were too high for what you get. I would not return read more

What a nice birthday dinner we celebrated! The restaurant had a cute and cozy vibe. Decorated for the season but not overdone. We started with cocktails. ( they have at least 50 bourbons to choose from-nice!) A couple of us had bourbons and a couple of us went with martinis. Yum. Baileys, crème de menthe and vanilla vodka. Not on the menu but they made it for us. They brought out some nice warm bread with a pepper jelly/olive oil dipping sauce which was good. We skipped apps cuz-dessert. Lol We ordered Rack of lamb Filet Mignon Two orders of the NY strip Sides were baked potatoes Everything was delicious and cooked to order. The meal and drinks were pretty filling but we shared dessert Crème brûlée And a chocolate dessert I can't remember the name of. We were very lucky to have had Leslie as our server. She was wonderful! Cheerful and sweet, efficient and checked on us as needed. Def will go back! read more

I have been to Red Fox four times and absolutely love it! The two times i have been there for dinner, we sat outside on their patio. I highly suggest ordering a bottle of wine (red is my recommendation), and the steak is superb! I also went there for two events and went to their upstairs room. At the most recent event, they had a buffet of brunch foods, with the pasta and the garlic rolls being the best of the selection I got to try. They also make a mean tequila sunrise!! The service all four times I have been there is excellent and the staff are super attentive! I highly recommend this for a fancier night out! They also have a pretty expansive and beautiful bar! read more

Live music was loud but very good, the placement of fox all over was very cute. The server was great! Super friendly from the moment we walked in. The wine list was great with wines from all over. The food though. Omg, the food. From the butters at the beginning to the main course to the crème brûlée. The hour drive was absolutely worth it. read more

Caught the last hour of happy hour on a Saturday! It was a sunny day, we had the bar area to ourselves since people were taking advantage of the patio. There is a good amount of food options and they all sounded tasty. Of course, I had to do the garlic parm wings. I was also in the mood for something crunchy, so we did the house chips that comes with Gorgonzola dip. To my surprise, a complimentary bread basket was also served. Typically, a bread basket comes with oil, Parmesan, etc. Here, it was more of oil mixed with a salsa? I'm sure there is a name for it, but it escapes me right now. I could eat it all by itself, and at some points I did. When the wings came out, my eyes grew two times. They came out hot & are quite jumbo and you get 10 wings. Not bad for $12. The chips were house chips, The Gorgonzola was delish. Nice and stinky as it should be. Once the chips were done, some Gorgonzola was leftover to try with the wings. A nice combination. For drinks we did a couple of wines from the happy hour menu. Then, while checking out the main menu, I saw a pistachio tiramisu martini! Before finishing my wine, I ordered it. And oh boy was I ecstatic when it came out. The color was beautiful! Reminded me of the clear ocean waters found in the islands. To top it off, literally, a biscotti was balancing on top. The flavors were spot on. I could taste the pistachio and the creaminess of the tiramisu. It's definitely a must try and a go-to every time I come back to this Red Fox. read more

Excellent service, delicious food!! Lots of selections on the menu for everyone's taste.

There's nothing like the original! I've always enjoyed the food and staff at Red Fox in Middletown. They have a great happy hour menu from 3-6 daily in the bar area. They also have a bar bites menu in that area also. I've tried their rigatoni w/vodka sauce and turkey club from that menu. Both were delicious! The martinis are quite delicious & it helps that they are 1/2 price. The servers are friendly and the bartenders are amazing! read more

We went to Red Fox on Sunday 9/26 Everything was amazing we sat outside. Our server was polite and knowledgeable and our food was Incredible. We ordered. Clams on the half shelf. What a surprise! I hadn't been to this site since it was a Chinese restaurant. My teenage sons loved eating there and that was a long time ago. Now it is a super dining establishment where I just had another birthday lunch [I know it's October now but that's how I roll!]. My hostess said she recommended the Grilled Steak Salad from her last visit. The steak was delicious, medium rare as ordered. It was plated with mixed greens, fresh apples, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, walnuts, crumbled gorgonzola and a balsamic vinaigrette. What a great sunny afternoon treat. Service was very nice in the dining room and I sat with a view of the large patio surrounded with plantings. There was even a red fox on the wall to oversee the diners! read more

Service was abysmally slow. When you've been waiting for 15 minutes and see your waitress hanging out, I become frustrated. Food was just ok. After reading the menu we switched to apps and a salad, also mediocre. The ambiance was silly, the music was from old old Italian movies...laughable. read more

Ambience was good, waitstaff was great, the downer was the spoiled food. My girlfriend religiously orders scallops and this time they were raw and spoiled. The waitstaff took care of it and brought us a new dinner, but, when the bill came, we were charged for the more expensive meal that was disgusting. I tried a piece of her scallop and it turned my stomach. This will be the last time we eat there. No one from the management team came out to apologize and we were still charged full price for everything. read more

Been her a few times and it never fails to impress. We were a party of six and ordered various entrees. Everything was great. I was most impressed with the service. Well organized and executed by multiple staff and a maitre de/manager that was very engaged. I really love restaurants that invest in oversight and encourage teamwork. The dining spaces are a bit different but very nice. I read some negative reviews regarding noise/music but the bar space is well insulated from the dining areas. Give them a try! This is a well managed restaurant that seems to really car about their food and customers! read more

Wow. Simply wow. I have to say this was one of the best recent restaurants I've found in the state. We did happy hour in the bar and then dinner in the dining room. Both were amazing. Starting with nachos, oysters and drinks, we were extremely happy with the quality of what we got and the service. We were there for happy hour so $1 oysters were a hit and $7 nachos plus 1/2 price martinis were awesome. The meal was spot on some of the best food we've had at a restaurant recently. The salad was well balanced and tasty. The steak was some of the most tender and tasty steak I've ever had and the chicken dish was a home run. Add the large Mac and cheese side and you're talking about an amazing dinner for me and the family. We also got a bottle of wine for $40 which is $14 at stores so solid buy. The wines are cheap here for a restaurant. I'd strongly recommend this place to any looking. It might not be where you'd expect a top flight restaurant but it meets all the requirements of a 5 meal. Try this place if you're in the area. read more

Easter Buffet, This year was a different year and decided to go out for Easter dinner. While there were many restaurants offering Easter dinner we chose Red Fox in Middletown for the items suggested on the menu as we have some who are vegetarian, and those who eat fish but no meat. I made reservations for 11:30, we arrived on time. While we were being seated, we walked by the food, and seated. No one came to us to ask us what we would like to drink since drinks came with the price of $65.00 pp. We had to stop someone walking by and asked if we just go up and they said yes. I walked up and it seemed everything was cramped and plates were in the middle I couldnt even reach them. As I walked around looking, some items had no utensils, and nothing was labeled!. I will say I was totally not expecting all the pancakes, waffles and crapes in one pan, also there was nothing under the food to keep anything warm. All food was cold or room temperature. The shrimp was undercooked as it was not firm in the center, that was a waste of food as I saw many people not eating what was in their plates. Our table was on a slant and I had to keep pushing my plate up. There was no stations and food was just added to the cold food, the meat was well done. The food was very unpleasant we all just looked at each other while eating and what we ate did not even come close to what we spent. You know the saying one and done, this is just that. I wanted this to be enjoyable, but it was not. I do not suggest going here for a buffet I am surprised this was allowed as the food needs to be kept a certain temperature for public use. You also had a choice on the tip? can you believe 30% was on the bill if you wanted for a buffet? I will not go there again read more

Enjoyed a lunch at Red Fox Restaurant. This was a working meal since we had a meeting then enjoyed our lunch. Service was very attentive. They were great about keeping our water glasses full. I admittedly went here with skepticism as I've heard very mixed reviews. We had reservations so we were seated promptly for our party of 8. We were seated in the "wine room" which offers a very luxurious ambiance. The chairs were very comfortable (nice larger leather chairs- not typical dining chairs that you find in restaurants) and we all had ample space around the table. This created a very inviting setting. Our server was extremely attentive and didn't miss a beat. We all enjoyed our cocktails and the bottle of Bordeaux that we shared with dinner. The wine list is impressive! We ordered several appetizers for the table that were all delicious. The calamari and the bacon wrapped shrimp were fan favorites. I personally really enjoyed the beet salad. I ordered the special which was a mushroom ravioli. It was a huge portion! The sauce was lovely. I enjoyed it because it was rich but not heavy like cream sauces can be. My husband had the NY strip. Overall it was good but the cook on it was inconsistent throughout when it was ordered as a medium rare. It was still delightful but the temp should be spot on. We ended dinner with double espressos and complimentary shots which was fun! I'm glad we tried this place for ourselves and I would go back for sure. read more

The Red Fox is a bit out of the way, so you don't have to deal with the crazy traffic. There is limited parking by the front door, and additional parking down below or in the back. I went in December, and the decoration was gorgeous. Their lower dining room was all decked out in red and white for a Christmas party. There were lights and tasteful decorations all around the main dining area and the bar. It made dining a lot of fun. The wait staff all worked cooperatively, and one of three people was paying attention to us at any given time. It made refills come really quickly! The food was fun - the shrimp spiedini was an adult version of mozzarella sticks. The shrimp was well cooked and seasoned, and the cheese was real with no artificial taste. The homemade garlic focaccia was stacked like Jenga and had sauce poured on at the table. The bread had a crunch on the crust with a fluffy inside. And the sauce.... Oh yum, I wish it was bottled! read more
