We decided to sit outside at Tate's and enjoy the beautiful sunny, breezy day. The outdoor seating made for a relaxing atmosphere, and it was a nice place to spend time with my boys. My youngest ordered the kids' cheeseburger with fries and enjoyed his meal. My oldest chose the Mokey Smash Burger, but unfortunately, he wasn't impressed. He said the burger was dry, the cheese didn't add much flavor, and overall it tasted bland. He loved the fries, thought they were crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best part of his meal. He didn't even finish the burger or want to take it home, which says a lot. I ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll with coleslaw and seasoned fries. The coleslaw was honestly one of the best I've had; fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The fries were also excellent: crispy, well-seasoned, and delicious. As for the lobster roll, I've definitely had better here in Connecticut. The lobster was cooked well, and some bites tasted very fresh, but overall it lacked flavor. Even after adding the lemon and melted butter that came with it, it still didn't stand out. The service was also disappointing. Our waiter was not very attentive, and I found myself looking around to see if someone else could help us. I asked the person who brought our food for a cup of ice, for the glass jar of water that was at the table. Once again, I had to wait until our waiter to came back around just to get a straw. It made the dining experience feel a little frustrating because we had to keep waiting for simple requests. One small downside was the orange juice. My boys felt their cups had too much ice, leaving very little actual juice. After lunch, we decided to try the ice cream. Tate's has an ice cream and coffee window on the side of the restaurant, and our waiter did give us a 10% off card to use there. They offer a nice selection of flavors, one to three scoops, and plenty of toppings. I ordered the chocolate ice cream, while my boys chose Cookie Batter and Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Swirl. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. It ended our visit on a high note. Overall, Tate's has a beautiful outdoor atmosphere, great fries, amazing coleslaw, and delicious ice cream. However, the burgers, lobster roll, and lack of attentive service were disappointing. I would come back for the ice cream and outdoor setting, but I would have higher expectations for the main dishes and service next time.

Great service and delicious food. Lovely riverside view. The chocolate cake at the end was especially rich and tasty.

Tates is a great indoor/ outdoor dining restaurant right on the water. This place is a summer vibe! You walk into a beautiful place and then walk out to a beautiful view! Obviously you have to come on a nice sunny day and enjoy the colorful outside dining area. You get to watch the boats and jet skis cruise the river while enjoying your lunch, dinner, cocktail or dessert. The margaritas are so good and come in a variety of flavors. You have so many seafood options that are perfect for a summer palate. I love coming here to relax, have a nice drink, some good food and have a waterfront experience without driving all the way down by the shoreline.

Everyone in Middletown knows about the history of flooding at the previous establishments. All of the locals couldn't wait for this location to reopen. After what seemed like forever...this issue was tackled and the restaurant was opened. I hope that what they have done continues to work. I have eaten here 5 or 6 times and attended Happy Hour a few times. The happy hour is decent. There is a special menu and drinks, but unfortunately, you need to be seated at the bar, not at the table next to it, not standing at the bar but seated at the bar. The staff is amazing, attentive and friendly. Also, it's happened a few times now where the hostess has given me a parking pass to go back to put into my car. Just a warning in case it's the day you visit. There are plenty of tables inside and outside seating has never been a problem unless you're trying to sit at the bar. The food has always been good with no reasons to complain. The portions are large and the adult drinks are never watered down. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like to have a water view with your meal.

Love this place but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with my 40 something dollar lobster roll.. I didn't have the most attentive waiter either. I had to flag him down to order a drink, then flag him down to order. My friend was really late, but we had to flag him down again to get her order too... it was busy, but still... I did however go to the fireworks on the river for the Fourth of July and that was well worth the price! We got drinks only, but it wasn't super crowded, we had access to clean bathrooms instead of port-a-potties that they have for the general public. And the live music was loud but really good.

Nice place to hang out without driving an hour to sit along the river and boat watch. Sit out side with a nice breeze under umbrella topped tables or sit inside in the AC at the bar. Bar seats all face towards windows that have a nice view of the river. Great Drinks, Tuna Nachos for your appetizer.....And many great entree choices went with falafel and Salmon bowl. The falafel were nice and light and those 2 sauces so good. Salmon bowl was very filling.

I am not sure why it took so long for me to finally check this restaurant out but I am glad I finally did. I did have a hard time using gps to get to the restaurant but once I got there I was glad to see that there was plenty of parking on a private lot. It was a bit too cold to dine outside but there looks to be plenty of outside dining with river views. They did have some heated igloo dining available but we dined indoor. Meet friends for Sunday brunch and had a great time. Service was great and our server was nice. Great portion sizes enough to have left overs. Would definitely like to go back again once the weather is warmer.

We LOVED the mob theme!! From the entrance, to the wait staff outfits, to the menues, it was so much fun! Staff was very friendly. It is a little on the pricey side but worth it. Plenty of parking as well. Environment was relatively quiet , not too crowded. All of our food came out with very good presentation and it all tasted great .

Service was awesome, mob themed menu was excellent. The pasta sauce actually tastes reminiscent of my nonna's, which is impressive. Could use a touch of sound dampening but overall not a bad spot to spend a date night.

Tate's has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in town, especially for brunch!! They now have heated Igloos on the patio so that you can continue to enjoy al fresco dining and the view of the Connecticut River even in the winter. We recently went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and she and I had a wonderful time!! There is a heater and blankets as well as a Bluetooth speaker so that you can connect and listen to your own musical playlist. As always, the food was delicious and the mimosas were awesome!! Our waiter was very attentive and when there was a discrepancy in the time limit on their website for the igloo and what we were told, he quickly took care of it and made sure we had the igloo for the full time. There is a $30 fee to reserve the igloo on top of your bill but it was worth the experience. Tate's is definitely a huge improvement from the previous establishment and a great addition to the Middletown food scene!

Incredibly festive spot for lunch, brunch or dinner around the holidays. It's right on the water, so you also get a beautifully wintery view. We came in on a Monday afternoon so it was pretty quiet. Our server was very attentive and sweet, and the food came out fast. The clam chowder was recommended, and it was quite good. I also got a tuna melt on gluten-free bread, and it was pretty decent. I'd be curious to come back and try other items on their menu, and maybe their cocktail menu as well.

We set outback on the outdoor patio. There was a live band. The sun in the evening is blocked by the building. So I wore a sweatshirt as there was a breeze coming off the water. I got an espresso martini and my fiancé got a margarita. Both were good, but apparently they do not serve liquor on the patio in glass, which felt a little cheap for the $14 cocktails. There was a glass bottle of water for the table. And they used glass drink were for the water contradiction that rule. The cop salad was amazing. It was big fresh vegetables good chicken two pieces great dressing.

I saw videos about this place and was excited to check it out for the waterfront view. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sit outside since there was a wait, so we sat inside instead (no wait). The restaurant itself is decorated very nicely and has a clean, welcoming atmosphere, but it seems like most people go mainly for the outdoor view; which we didn't get to experience. The menu is pretty limited and nothing really stood out to me. I ended up ordering the salmon bowl, which was actually pretty good, though the rice tasted more like boxed Goya rice than homemade. My drink was solid and our server was friendly, the restaurant started filling up around 4:30-5:00. Overall, the presentation of the restaurant is nice, the food I had was decent, and service was good. I just wish we had been able to sit outside for the view and that the menu had more variety.

I tend to swing by Thursday nights for trivia, but I've also been plenty of times during normal board game hours. This place offers plenty of fun events, in addition to a huge variety of board games. Not only that, but they offer a plentiful selection of coffees and teas, as well as frequently-changing specials that never disappoint! This recent visit, I attended trivia and I purchased a tea flight. 4 full cups of tea for a very reasonable price!! They can do any 4 flavors and ask about your preferences, so I told them I wanted to try unique/quirky teas. They did not disappoint!!! I was given 4 teas, 3 of which I purchased full supplies of immediately afterwards. Their lychee lime tea was one of my favorites--fruity with a strong and distinct lychee flavor, which was great. Chocolate chili tea was so unique, it reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate. Mountain Squall was a delicious chamomile with some minty refreshing notes, and finally, Volcanic Inferno was insanely unique and interesting! It's a strongly smoky, delicious tea that reminds me of a smoked whisky. These teas were not only delicious, but EXACTLY what I had in mind when I asked for unique teas! The cafe is so good that I'd come here for that alone--it's a bonus that there's also so many lovely games to play! There were plenty of bags of tea to purchase (I wound up snagging bags of Mountain Squall and Volcanic Inferno for home), as well as some other cute board game merchandise and snacks. The game variety is amazing. While I'm typically there for trivia, there's SO many fun game options. They also run activities pretty much every night--Thursday Trivia, Sunday Blood on the Clocktower, Sunday Dread, Friday Beginner DND, etc. There's always something to do! I love coming here and I am ecstatic to have a board game cafe so close to home for me. I certainly recommend that if you're considering coming by here, you should swing by and try it!

The price is unbeatable, $10 for entry to play over 1000 games, and the beverages are yummy! Lastly, the service is unbeatable: everyone is kind, personable, and treats you like a valued guest. I 100% recommend trying out this very fun and unique cafe!

TikTok Sent Me Here, and I'm Glad It Did!…read more I discovered Feshafeesh in Middletown after someone sent me a TikTok video, and naturally, I had to go check it out for myself. This is a small, fairly new dessert spot, and my experience was amazing from start to finish. When you walk up, there are large glass windows that give you a nice view inside. The space has a simple, modern white-and-brown aesthetic with brown stools, a wooden countertop, and a small seating area where you can sit and look outside while enjoying your treats. The owner was working in the back when we visited and was very welcoming and helpful. I had quite a few questions because there are so many delicious options on the menu that honestly, you're going to want to try everything! He was happy to explain things and help me decide what to order. We tried two Dirty Sodas: Pink Cloud and Ocean Breeze. Both were sweet, fizzy, refreshing, and really tasty. I definitely want to come back and work my way through some of the other drinks because there were several that caught my attention. For dessert, I ordered the Kinder Stick, and this was SO good! It had roughly five fresh strawberries on a stick, topped with chocolate, Kinder Bueno, and toasted coconut flakes. The combination was absolutely delectable. You get the freshness of the strawberries, the sweetness of the chocolate and Kinder Bueno, and that little bit of texture and flavor from the toasted coconut. It was the kind of dessert that completely satisfies your sweet tooth. One thing I really appreciated is that they use fresh ingredients, handmade batters, and make things to order. You can taste that freshness in what we ordered. I actually went later in the evening, but I can easily see this being a great spot to visit with the kids after school, stop by after work, or just come in when you're craving something sweet. It really feels like a place for everyone. Overall, the drinks were delicious, the dessert was amazing, the owner was welcoming, and there are so many things on the menu I still want to try. TikTok definitely did its job with this recommendation! I'll be back.
