My wife and I took another couple to the rusty rail for dinner and a few drinks. We sit down and order some cocktails. The fireplace is on and it's cozy. The popcorn machine in the corner looks inviting and I fill a few small plastic cups for our guests. Now I go back to get a little more and there is none. Gee I guess they just need to pop some more. I ask the waitress if someone is going to pop another batch... the answer is was NO. We only pop one per day.. are you kidding me? We're spending $150 for drinks and food. It's only 6pm and you're not allowed to pop more popcorn. One batch per day is the rule! Someone needs to tell the owner salty things makes you drink more. Dumbass. read more

This small tavern, located in a barn, was right along our 'avoid highways' route. The building is set back from the road with a large gravel parking lot. They have a good amount of outdoor seating to the right of the entrance. Inside is a small bar with about eight seats (didn't count) and several high tops. There is also a loft with more seating overhead. We walked up a few steps to enter the building from the parking lot. I'm not sure if the side entrance also has steps so if you have mobility needs, call ahead to check. We sat at the bar and as it was a hot day, I asked for a water before ordering a drink. The water was refilled several times during our visit without my needing to ask. I really appreciate that! The bartender seems to be the owner from the way he was talking and let us know they have live music two night a week plus some nights they offer a special menu like Prime rib night or dogs eat free night. Yes, besides the kids menu, they have a menu for your pup. The interior is very much a barn, with lots of fun, metal signs and train memorabilia all around. Two TV's were on in the front corners of the room so you may be able to watch your game (golf the day we went) but it's not really set up as a sports bar. There is one fair sized restroom for everyone that is clean and locks with a hook and eye latch. They have a good size drinks menu which includes a variety of cocktails, a selection of draft and bottled beers and wine. The bar has quite a collection of whiskeys and tequila's. A separate menu is available for their pub fare foods. The menu is very well crafted. Lots of chicken options, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, hotdogs and salads. My SO got the spicy chicken sandwich. When asked, our bartender let him know it was spicy, but not too spicy and they have hot sauce behind the bar if he wants more heat. Which of course he did. He enjoyed the sandwich; crispy chicken, tasty sauce, fresh veg and bread. Messy to hold, after using several napkins he finished it off w/his knife and fork. Table ware set on the bar after ordering is in small paper sacks. I went for a burger. The patty is quite large, cooked to order and juicy. Fresh veg on there, soft bread and tasty. I enjoyed this burger and it was large enough I almost couldn't finish it. I opted for a side salad (for an up charge) instead of fries. The salad is a good sized side, the veg were fresh and the dressing is on the side. I did try the fries that came with the chicken sandwich and those are really good fries. Fresh potato, crispy outside, fluffy inside, salted. Really good. This was an excellent stop. Chatted with some friendly locals and the barkeep. Had a beverage. Grabbed a tasty sandwich. We left stuffed and happy. What more could you ask. read more

What a hidden gem. Came in here with a friend and saw instantly that the locals love this place. Always a good sign. Had a margarita and a cosmo and both were great. Also tried the avacado blt. Was delicious. Came with fries that were great too. Love all the fun signs hanging around the building and there is a wonderful outdoor area. Highly recommend. read more

Went before our show at the Goodspeed on a Sunday afternoon at 4:25. Arrived at 4:25. Chalkboard says wait to be seated. Bartender ignored us. So we sat down inside. He then asked did you see the hostess? No I responded. There was no one around. She came in and said kitchen closes in 10 minutes. Ok. Your website says 5:00 pm. She also tells us we must go outside. It was a heat index of 96° and all the outside tables we saw were in the dun with the umbrellas closed. So the seats would be very hot. My son asked can we order food? She responded yes if you sit outside. No greeting. No hello. We left and went to Morinas another Goodspeed partner. Great meal in air conditioning. Won't be back. Rude and obvious our business wasn't wanted. Maybe your food is good. But your welcome was non existent. read more

Stopped by on a whim on our way to a hike on Sunday, and really enjoyed sitting outside with our dog while live music was playing good beer selection and some interesting food options. How about you bake that into your menu prices, especially in this day of slowly disappearing cash. And the fact that it was ALREADY ON MY BILL before I had paid is pretty revealing. What if I had thrown down cash? Would you have refunded me the $1.50 in fees? - Our server. Wow. Kathy. Seemed incredibly uninterested in waiting on us, and made my wife feel as if we were bothering her . Her attitude did not make us want to hang out and spend money but rather get out as soon as we were finished. Like I said, the food was pretty good - the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had. My wife's sandwich was good too, although if you're going to say a sandwich has "loads of bacon", try putting on more than 3 thin pieces. This restaurant is such a cute little establishment. Between the specials (food) and the drink specials, tons of options. I highly recommend stopping in, you won't be disappointed. The service was good, food times were good, the outdoor patio is fun, but some music would of been nice. 11.25 for a margarita in a pretty small glass, ouch. About 16 for chicken sandwiches, 17 for burgers. If I am going to spend that much I'd rather go to red house. In response, red house offers home made fries. I really like that touch and would be willing to pay more, cause I know how much of a pain it is to make homemade ones compared to frozen ones. Rusty rail gives off the vibe of more of a family casual place, the prices should reflect that more. Red house is more of a formal place so understandably the prices reflect that. There's nothing wrong with either one. Also I saw speakers outside but no music, that's what I was confused about. read more

I've been looking for a place near home to become my go to spot. The food is great, BLT has been my favorite, I haven't had a chance to sit outside yet but the service at the bar was attentive and fun. The bartender was personable and the place overall was just what I was looking for. However, I have to say I have looked up their times before and more often than not they either end up closing earlier than it says online or have already closed when I get there. It's disappointing and inconvenient when you check online just to get there and find out they're open. One time I understand, but this has been more than a few times in the last 4-5 months. read more

We stopped in for lunch, or first time here. It is a nice atmosphere with the bar front and center as you walk in. There are tables along the walls and more seating is available upstairs. It was a pretty full house so we sat at the bar, the stools were comfortable with chair backs to support. The bartender was friendly and service was quick. We ordered an avocado BLT with onion rings and baked 1/2 chicken dinner. Food was very good. Maybe not as much bacon on the BLT as the ad boasts but still tasty. I forgot to take pictures. Our favorite lunch spot; front row seats to the Valley Railroad steam train . The service is very friendly and attentive. The avocado BLT with swiss cheese was amazing-lots of bacon and avocado on an incredible rye bread-the other half is lunch tomorrow because of the size of it. My companion thoroughly enjoyed his perfectly cooked hamburger. This is a wonderful family friendly place-we have brought my 5 yr old grandson- he loved the hot dogs, the corn hole games and the giant connect 4. Food was great, service was prompt. $20 short of $100 bill, and for some reason was still charged a "Card Processing Fee". Usually places have a minimum amount to spend or else charged this fee. I understand the fees card companies place but with the average bill of sale around $60-80 I feel that could be waived. Also the $1 charge for a soda refill is interesting. Wanted to try Rusty Rail yesterday so looked at website and stated closes at 6pm. So left home at 3:45pm to arrive 45 minutes latter at 4:30pm. Go inside and told they stop making food at 4pm and only drinks now until 6pm. Mentioned it would be nice if your website stated kitchen closes at 4pm. Just disappointed in traveling 45 minutes to a place that doesn't inform the public of their proper hours only states closes at 6pm, where would I have known they stopped serving food. Yesterday we were there for our friend's Birthday. It was our third time. We all had a terrific time. We had Haydan as our server, she did a outstanding job for us. I hope I spelled her name right. They just opened a few weeks ago but I think we found a new "regular" restaurant! Spinach and artichoke dip was amazing, and the burger was juicy and delicious. We dined outside, and sat at a table with a fire pit; an excellent addition to a slightly chilly evening. Service was friendly and attentive. We will be going back soon. read more
