Burnt ends and Mac n cheese!

Another fantastic meal at the Red House! It has been 5 years since we first came here and things have only gotten better. The interior decor is amazing- with album cover art and guitars everywhere. And the food is better than ever. Can't wait for our next visit!

Came here after a few drinks at High Nine Brewery, its right down the road. The food portions were big, however the food took awhile to come out but our server was very apologetic and we were simply enjoying our conversation. I had enough leftover of my burger to bring to work the next day

Don't pass by this place - this restaurant has some of the best food I've ever had. I ordered the Steak Frites and I was blown away: the steak was cooked to perfection, the truffle fries were so good you'd slap your momma, and even the vegetables were so perfectly seasoned that I almost asked for more. My wife ordered the Burn Ends and she was well-pleased. She wasn't a fan of coleslaw, so I ate that - nice and crisp, on the sour side if that's what you like. Oh boy, did we find our favorite spot - unfortunately for us, it's a bit of a hike to get here, but we'll definitely be back!

Cute little spot in a cute little town. Service was great and the food was even better. Ice cold beer and delicious burgers. What more can you ask for. This definitely had to be one of the best burgers I've had in my life. Worth the 1 1/2 hour drive for another one!

The food was delicious, but all lukewarm. They were very busy though! Also expensive, but considering where you are can you be picky?!o

Here's how things went for me during my visit. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the Connecticut River in Chester, CT connected to its own marina is this gem. Reservations are recommended especially in the summertime since THIS is the place where you wanna be. We were here in early April so things hadn't quite picked up, but at least the snow was gone and we didn't need to wear super heavy coats. The parking lot is massive so if it's busy you'll be walking for a minute before you get to the door. But once inside it's pretty modern, chill and relaxed. The decor isn't over-the-top. Everything is straight-edged and just... almost minimalistic. However, we sat in the patio area that was certainly heated so we could see the view of the water while the sun set. It was a wide-open setting and I'm very glad the restaurant didn't smash too many tables and chairs in there. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but I don't remember having any issues throughout dinner. It was fairly slow so I didn't expect any hold-ups. Food/Drinks: I started off with an old-fashioned which was fine. Nothing crazy. Next up was a New England clam chowder which is perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Textures were good and so were the seasonings. Spot-on. For dinner I went with their Prime Rib! It came out perfectly medium-rare with a side of fingerling potatoes, grilled squash, au jus and horseradish sauce. It was good. Just... kinda not exciting. :-/ Maybe I should've gone the seafood route since we were on the water. But no matter. Value: Not too crazy here. It's a nice restaurant, but prices aren't out of control. You can totally come here to chill, have a drink and an app or a full-on family dinner and not be upset at the final bill. In conclusion I liked it here, just not enough to want to drive all the way out here again. Would I come back? Sure, if I were invited by friends and stuff, but I highly encourage you reading this to pay this place a visit and enjoy the views! Thank you for reading.

She was nothing short of perfection s as nd working the entire front by herself!! Food: everything was tasty, a little more kick in spice in every dish even the vodka rigatoni had an after bite. I didn't take away a star, but I personally look forward to the after taste of the food rather than a kick. Price: about average with the amount of apps and food we got with wine too! There also appears to be extra seating at the back of the restaurant. The menu is small but has plenty of selections, both small and large bites as they call them. Our server, who was very friendly and pleasant as well as the other staff, took our drink orders and let us know what the fish was for the evening. We decided to order the sourdough bread, French onion soup, and two burgers with fries. This is a very relaxed atmosphere, a little in the dark side, and the seating was very tight between tables given the size of the restaurant but we adjusted the table and made it work. The bread arrived hot from the oven with their house butter which I couldn't quite figure out was in it. Almost seemed sweet as if it was a maple syrup base but can't say for sure. The bread was incredible and didn't last long. The French onion soup arrived in a large bowl with a number of crispy croutons and plenty of onions. The soup was very tasty with a little bit of a bit to it. The croutons were a very nice touch as they stayed crispy ti the soup was gone. The burgers arrived hot off the grill with large baskets of very crispy French fries. The burgers were large, cooked medium as requested, with nice slices of Grafton maple smoked cheese, bacon jam. Lettuce, and Dijon mustard. The burgers are very thick and the roll is soft and grilled nicely. The fries, which were right out of the flyer, stayed crispy through the whole meal. There are a couple of steps up into the restaurant so if you have mobility issues it might be a little bit of a challenge. All in all a great little restaurant with incredible food and great service. The next time we're in the area there may be a return trip.
