Both the service and the food were underwhelming. So much so that we left. It's a traditionally beautiful place on the inside, though the bar area seems too small. Our party of 5 was seated in the dining room at 3pm on a Sunday. There was almost no one else in the restaurant. We ordered several rounds of drinks and appetizers and then asked for a minute to decide what we wanted to do for dinner. Then, over the next 20 minutes, both the server and busser badgered us to order. So much so that we left. The stuffed mushrooms were OK, the fried mozzarella was pretty good, and the stuffed artichokes were very good. We were very disappointed because we had heard such good things. The place was super cute -- definitely on the fancier side, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the mushroom ravioli, which was amazing, and the blackberry tequila drink was just as good! Our server was on point, very attentive, and quick to help with everything. The only downside was at the end of the meal. As soon as we asked for boxes, it felt like the staff started cleaning up everything around us before we were ready. They handed us containers to pack our own food but stood there watching while taking away plates and items we were still using. They even cleared the garlic bread and the rest of the salad we were planning to take home before we had the chance. It definitely felt like we were being rushed out the door. My wife and I stopped in for Lunch as we have dined at all the other Red Fox locations. I always let her pick the 2 it ms she wants, and then she can have more than 1 choice. I was left with the Chicken Piccata, and this was a delicacy that caused me to make repeated out loud affirmations of deliciousness. My wife was dipping her sandwich in the sauce and immediately declared we have to come back for dinner. We live 55 minutes away, see you soon. What a lovely renovation from a bikers bar to the hills of Tuscany. We were seated out on the flower adorned patio on a warm October afternoon. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered a beet salad and eggplant parm. We enjoyed a glass of wine and the garlicky smell of fresh rolls was enticing. Unfortunately, the rolls had that chewy warmed over taste. The same with the eggplant. Maybe going on a Monday.was not such a good idea. It just tasted like leftovers. I went in excited to try this new Red Fox being that I love the original. Have to say I was less than impressed. We were sat immediately as it wasn't busy when we arrived. We sat in the dining room. Our server was not attentive at all. We had to call him over to take our order. I ordered the chicken francaise and my mom ordered the manicotti. She said her sauce tasted burnt and dish was small considering the price. My food was meh... They have 1/2 price martinis from 3-6 but it neglects to say on the menu that it's the bar area only, a bit deceptive. The bar area is very small. I have been here 2 times recently. The food is delicious and the wait staff are fun and attentive. They also don't rush you with your meal.

I have to say they have the best happy hour We weren't there for happy hour. We went for dinner, but we noticed they had very good prices on their happy hour menu. So I decided to order The chicken and beef tenderloin tips, but I asked if it would be OK not to have the mashed potato. I prefer pasta which was not a problem at all. It was very tasty. The chicken was extremely tender, and the beef tenderloin was absolutely delicious . My husband ordered The clams and crab meat with gnocchi with Alla Vodka sauce which was a special it was very tasty and a good size portion . The waitress brought out some bread, olives, and also cheese before our meal . We had no problem at all getting service. The staff were very friendly and welcoming . The atmosphere was bright and clean with a lot of windows and a nice size bar. We did get an appetizer which was on the happy hour special. We did order the wings they were made to order. Red sauce had a piece of metal brillo pad in it (which can seriously injure you or worse if you eat it, but the manager never came by and no one other than the server seemed to really care). House red wine was stale. Entrees came out a minute after the appetizers. The dishes were: overpowered with lemon, mashed potatoes weren't even mashed, chicken was cold in the middle and didn't seem fresh, broccoli was too salty (and I am not sensitive to salt or anything). You also don't get a salad with your entree. Overall this restaurant is vastly overpriced for subpar, carelessly thrown together food, and the basics are not executed well. Even in most Italian restaurants the bread is fresh and warm, but the bread here was old, stale, and poor quality. Mistakes are made and I understand that, but what bothers me is they don't seem to really care. There is much better Italian around, even within a 5 mile radius, where they're truly interested in your business and care about putting out great food, not just making money off you to open up their next restaurant. Also, I hope they fix whatever is going on inside because it seems like they have septic issues unfortunately and it smells horrible. Went here last Sunday after church. We had made a reservation but arrived 20 minutes early, they were very accommodating and seated us right away. We were seated in a little corner table which was perfect for myself and my daughter. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer. It was lightly fried and fresh. We then ordered from the brunch menu. I had the French toast with a side order of whipped ricotta with honey, delicious. My daughter ordered the eggs Benedict, she ate the whole thing! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We went about a month ago on a Friday evening. Wasn't too busy. We sat right down at our table and a server was over immediately. From beginning to end our experience was great. The cocktails were great, the food was fantastic and the service was top notch. I have a dairy allergy and they made dishes dairy free for me which aren't normally dairy free. That is how you know they make their dishes fresh! Our server was part of the family who owns the restaurant and he was literally the best. Accommodating personable and funny! This place opened several months ago and we've been wanting to give it a try. We went last night and it did not disappoint. Calamari appetizer was well cooked-not rubbery and delicious. Went for HH and was disappointed overall. Our bartender was very pleasant and her dirty martinis were great. The HH menu is solid with a lot of choices including buck a shuck 7 days a week. We ordered some little necks and oysters. The little necks were decent. Not great but decent. The oysters were humongous. My date liked them however they did not look appealing to me. We were approached by a different server asking if we wanted to hear about the specials, which we didn't. I asked her what types of wine are available on the HH menu and she proceeded to tell us they don't have any wine on the HH menu. Ummm as you can see from the attached photo - $5 HH wines!! We then ordered the meatballs and sliders from the same server. After a 30 minute wait I asked the bartender when our food was coming out and she told me there was no order entered for us!! Wanted to try this new Red Fox restaurant. Loved how the restaurant is conveniently located right off the main road but as soon as you're on the patio you are transported to somewhere else. The staff was very attentive and always available if we needed anything. We tried the clams Casio which was a slightly different recipe. I am classic and prefer a basic recipe. We just thought it was a traditional recipe because they didn't mention the variations when telling us the specials. The eggplant Parmesan sauce was just the way I like it. Fresh tomato taste! The eggplant was very thin generous portion of layered cutlets. My personal preference is a slightly thicker slice because I love the eggplant most. I was very, very pleased with the customer service right off the start. They immediately brought over a great little olive and cheese bowl with some focaccia bread. My drink came out absolutely fantastic as well as my friends. We started off with the Burrata salad, which was a delight. The service was kinda abrupt and too direct. Kind waiters but a tad too bottega style of convo. I didn't have more than 2 entrees and a salad so I might be not 100% accurate. Ambiance simple. Red Fox Amore is a giant leap forward in terms of class and cuisine! Our party of 4 went on a busy Monday evening and were greeted by their Hostess and seated by our Waitress, Dina. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are beautifully traditional when it comes to Italian restaurants. The whole vibe of the restaurant gives that high end traditional feel too it. The food was delicious overall. We had build your own pasta dishes and chicken parmesan. Portions are huge so we of course ended up bringing a lot home and eating it the next day as well! Service was fast, professional and like I said everyone was dressed like it was meant to be a very fancy restaurant. But the patrons dress more casual and comfortable. We had a beautiful anniversary dinner here. My wife had the Cornish Hen Marsala and I had the Shrimp and Sole Frances. Review: The Calamari appetizer was very good, I preferred the white spicy dipping sauce 4/5 My Shrimp and Sole was amazing. I loved the rice, it was both beautiful and tasty. The Broccoli was perfection in steamed vegetables, very good. The Sole was fantastic, I really tasted both the light flavor of the fish, the egg batter and the sauce. The combination was excellent. The butterfly shrimp gave a nice contrast with its stronger flavor structure. 5/5 For dessert we both had the tiramisu, I must say it was the best tiramisu I have eaten to date, a very light and delicious ending to our night out. 5/5 My wife said the Cornish Hens were amazing. Went to lunch with girlfriends yesterday. From the waiter to quality of food a much different experience than I had a month ago. The bread was stale and when we told the waiter he didn't seem to care and said it was made yesterday. Ruben sandwich was the worst I ever had and my friends meatball grinder was also poor. And yes she has it before and liked it. When we asked to speak to a manager concerning our experience the waiter said there wasn't one and he was there. If we didn't like our food we didn't have to eat it. We could have ordered something else. My response was "Why would we order something else when everything we got wasn't good" I was really hoping this place would make it since my first experience was pleasant. Dangerous if you have allergies. I asked for gluten free options and was told they have no pasta, but can modify dishes to be gluten free. I ordered a caeser salad without croutons to ensure it would be gluten free. It came out with croutons on it. The server was attentive and noticed before she placed it down and took it back. It came back out about 30 seconds after. They did not remake the salad but instead took the croutons that were on it off, as evident by a full crouton that was still on the salad and the crumbs of them sprinkled throughout it. My friend and I were out enjoying a gorgeous late fall day and found ourselves in Middlefield so we decided to try this place we'd heard so much about. Whole we were parking we noticed the nice patio and thought how nice it would be to sit outside and appreciate the view and the still warm weather. We were seated right away just taking everything in and our waiter immediately brought us water and took our drink order while we looked at the menu. I pretty quickly realized that I was going to have to make some decisions because everything sounded so good! I should say that I'm a vegetarian so I'm not used to having so many choices! I was so happy to see that they had stuffed mushrooms and arancini sans meat so we started with those. Most places have meat in both so we were off to a great start! The mushrooms were so tasty and I still think about them often to the point where I think we are going back today! The arancini was crispy and light and super flavorful. The bread that came with it was thick and condensed somehow, I think maybe panini pressed and delicious. Next came the eggplant parm which was just the way I like it, slices on the thinner side which is how it should be. My friend got the chicken piccata and said it was amazing. Unfortunately we didn't take pics of the main dishes because they were gone so fast! The service was great throughout and perfectly timed. The owner came outside at one point to see how we were doing which was so appreciated. We talked to him about the origin of the restaurant and other things and it all just added to the experience. I selected Red Fox Amore, Middlefield, based on previous great experiences at the original Red Fox on Smith Street, Middletown, and the location as a good half way point between family members meeting up for a reunion. Bad mistake. The service was terrible. Our waiter would disappear for 25 - 30 minutes at a time. This was a Monday night. Tere were only a few other tables when my party of 5 all convened. Service was incredibly slow. We waited to order our appetizers. Then we waited a ridiculously long time for them to come out. Then we waited another 25 minutes before entrees were brought out, Unlike the original Red Fox, the food ranged from good to mediocre, at best. My girlfriend had the Alfredo, which I tasted and quite obviously contained cream, which is never used in authentic Alfredo sauce. When we got home, she became ill with diarrhea. The dinner took 2.5 hours, and we skipped coffee and dessert as some had to get home because of work the next day. Incredibly disappointing. I dropped $300, and for the first time in years, tipped less than 20% because the service was so bad. The heat system was making a loud and irritating noise, so the waiter shut it off, which eliminated annoying noise, but also the heat! By the time we left, it was very cold in there. And the toilet in the men's room was disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for weeks. I took a picture but won't post it becuse it's so disgusting. Fico (Red Fox owner) needs to pay some serious attention to this property if he doesn't want it to fail. I would never go back there and my previous high level of confidence in Red Fox properties has been seriously shaken. This one is a loser. read more
