    Live music

It's clean, big, bright, and busy. I suspect it's a regular spot for the locals. It's a diner with an extensive menu. I do love choices. I enjoyed the live music. The service was nice. The food was good too. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

This is a huge restaurant/ diner. Big grand piano sitting in center of room. Large dining area with booths and counter service. First off, I was disappointed that no one was playing at the piano on a Saturday morning visit. Service was prompt but not particularly friendly as they were hustling to move tables in my opinion. I ordered the Encyclopedia breakfast which is basically a hungry man meal. French toast was average, sausage over cooked, home fries were bland. Nothing stood out. Funny observation that they did not include a knife with the utensils. Knife upon request! I think the move to a larger space is impacting quality of food and the personal touch with service. . I would not go out of my way to return.

My office orders lunch here frequently and they always prepare our food super fast even with a big order! Their food is also good - I usually am a frequent with their turkey BLT or their California panini (which is served in a pita rather than bread like a traditional panini). Today I tried their Huxley's salad with grilled chicken and the ingredients tasted fresh and was a good portion!

I went to Huxley bookmark Café on a Friday morning. I sat at the countertop. The restaurant is large and very beautiful. I was hoping to get pumpkin pancakes however, they do not have them. The waitress suggested the apple cinnamon pancakes. They were delicious. The apples were cut up into tiny little cubes and lots of flavor throughout the pancakes. I was very happy with my order. They are open daily for breakfast and lunch. I would highly recommend trying it out.

I was staying nearby as part of Independent Bookstore weekend, and Huxley's Bookmark Cafe was a perfect thematic addition! There are books gracing the walls without feeling overwhelming... But boy do you want to peak at the titles. The building is light and nondescript, and the "Huxley's" dominates the sign. There are booth and table seatings, with a good sized menu. We went on a Sunday, and were seated right next to the amazing piano player - not only was his selection interesting, he was at a perfect volume not to hinder conversation. The food was good breakfast fare - the egg sandwich had good proportions, and the corned beef hash was tasty, perfect salt, and not too much grease.

Amazing food and service by Jamie at Huxleys- a large crowd from our church did a Saturday hike and then rewarded ourselves with a delicious breakfast. Huxleys did not disappoint. Check out the California omelet- amazing

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.

So far, I have only tried the one latte, the jasmine peach latte, which had peach puree, house made jasmine syrup, house made white tea cold foam and dried peaches. It was probably the best latte I have ever had. While their specialty drinks are only available small & medium, their sizes are 16 oz, 20 oz, 24 oz, so the small is actually the equivalent of some shops' large. I have only heard good things about their baked goods/pastries and they both looked and sounded amazing. I can't wait to try one hopefully very soon!
