Not sure how that happened haha. The mofongo were pretty good and the jibarito sandwich was yummy. Good prices for lunch. I think that anyone would enjoy this food for lunch, but if you don't speak any Spanish, I would suggest not coming here alone. Bring someone who can translate for you because he felt extremely stressed out about the language barrier.

I went on a Saturday during lunchtime, and I was blown away with the crazy amounts of people coming in. Service was absolutely amazing. Every worker was super friendly. The line moved fast with the number of workers they have. The first bite of the rice and beans was heaven. It brought me back to my grandmother's cooking. They have so many choices of authentic Puerto Rican food. This place is 2 hours away from my house but I guarantee you I'll be coming here quite often. They have seating but like I said first come first serve. Get in here before any rush hours and you'll be ok. They have a great amount of breads as well as Spanish pastries. The amount of food you get for what you pay is crazy. I ordered rice and lentils, with red beans, and roasted pork. It was literally enough for lunch and dinner or two people. This was dine in, not sure how much you get for takeout. Smart me I ordered my kids there own meal which had to be taken home as well. This is a definite go-to spot for Puerto Rican food. The location isn't in the best of towns, but everyone there was friendly and there to chow down.

Had the pernil (omg) some fried rice, and cucumber and tomato salad. All of it was excellent! I bought a giant sugar cookie and polished that off, too. Should have tried the coffee. I will give them a zero stars for service if I could, but unfortunately I have to rate them 1…read morestar... we are regular customers who usually do take outs for lunch once in a while, I have noticed that my husband had been getting charged about $26 for a large meal with two meat choices but I never think anything about it until today that I went with him to pick something out for lunch, well the youngest lady gave us a good service when ordering the food, so we ask her for a large order with two choices of meat but we asked her to put the beans that came with our large order in a separate container as I don't like mine mixed with the rice so when we were ready to pay the amount of the order was $26.74 ?? I asked the older lady in the cashier why she was charging us extra when a large order with choice of rice, beans, salad and two meats was $18.72 + tax, so she gave me actitud right away and said that the extra charge was for the beans??? She was charging us more than $5 for beans???? So I explained that we didn't ordered an extra side of beans, that i just asked to put the beans that came with my order separately, so she started scalding the other young lady for giving us too "much" and grab the small beans container and went and dumped back in the big tray of food just leaving the very bottom, almost emptied the container and thrown it back to the bag of food saying there it's!! I look at her and I ask if she was joking??? It blew my mind what she just did... that was such an insult! To my surprise she said she wasn't joking and that's all we were getting with the order!! I took the almost empty container of beans and give back to her and I told her to keep it but I was very upset that she was so mean about a side of beans... well she never apologized, neither she changed her actitud she just proceeded to ring me out, to which my order now was only $18.72 + Tax = $20.10 then she make herself busy at the phone and didn't even look back when giving out my receipt... so awful, awful service... if you're Spanish then you know that beans & rice are NEVER an issue, if anything you have to tell them to put a little less, but in this place they have been charging us extra for beans that are part of a Large order, so be careful when ordering from this place. Food is decent, nothing out of the extraordinary but it's ok so I give them 3 stars.

We are very blessed . . …read more That our area of Southeastern Connecticut has such a large Puerto Rican population - - or we may have never tasted the wonderful food that this restaurant offers. One of the best, if not THE VERY BEST, restaurants in the local area. My only concerns: 1) I didn't see a bathroom, but I didn't need one ‍; 2) we could have used a knife for the pork stick, but we should have asked. The staff is extremely helpful. Wonderful designs, with lots of inspiration. Now for the food: - Chicken Steam Plate: Chicken leg, rice & beans, fried plantain pieces. Chicken super moist, rice was outstanding, & plantains were very tasty. - Beef Stew: very good, similar to Filipino Beef Mechado. - Pork Stick: great tasting pork - - for me, I would have liked a bit more "fatty" on my stick, but it was really meaty!!! - Beans were nicely done. - Smashed Plantains were served with 1000 Island dressing: probably just as good without the dressing. - Ground Beef Empanada: good, a bit of vegetables would have put it over the top (potatoes, onions, carrots, peas) - - but that's there style. - Chicken Empanada: ok, a bit salty for us. Enjoy!!!!!

They have a good amount of seating available inside and great options to choose from. We did end up grabbing some made to order alcapurrias. All 3 tasted good but they needed hot sauce, lacking in flavor. I felt as the chicken one lacked the most flavor but was ok when hot sauce added & so did the pork one. I'll say that the ground beef alcapurria was my favorite out of the 3; although I still personally felt they all needed some hot sauce to add that kick missing. An alcapurria is a known Puerto Rican fritura/fried street food, growing up to even being an adult it's one of my favorite things if done right. We also had the bistec with rice, a side of beans, & a side of plantains. As well as the pernil with yellow rice. Both of these dishes lacked flavor, again needing hot sauce or missing something. The beans did have a good amount of flavor, which I enjoyed, & the plantains were slightly over fried. The visit itself was satisfying, I would return to give them another shot as well as hopefully try their carne guisada plate, which wasn't available at the time I went that day. I didn't give this business a 4 star rating simply because of the lack of flavor in mostly each item ordered. I would give it a solid 3.8 if I could.

Order catering at this restaurant and picked up food on a Saturday in August 2021. Wow, this restaurant is extremely busy with all walks of life customers from business, bikers, customers from afar, etc. Their presentation of the food displayed fresh, and so appealing. The scent of the food- wow- delish! The owner & staff prompt & attentive to their customers. As we briefly waited to pick up our cater order for a party of 15, customers kept coming and going. As more food was being brought out to be displayed and sold $$$. As soon as we placed our order in the vehicle with the assistance of the owner bringing the food out to us, the delish aroma that we continued to smell the food was mouth watering. Once back home with our guest and displayed our cater order bountiful of each yellow rice, beans, pork, chicken, pork chops, yucca, sweet banana, alcapuria of yuca, alcapuria of beef, stuff potato ball, corn fritters and shrimp salad. Our guest enjoyed every bite of it and by the end of the day all gone. We will definitely be coming back as a regular customer and order catering at this location more often. We give applauds to the owner and his staff for excellent fresh food and service!
