I've been coming to Tacos Mi Nacho since before they moved to this location, and it's still my go to spot when I'm craving authentic Mexican food. On today's lunch visit I ordered a chorizo taco, carne asada taco, and two al pastor tacos with pineapple, plus a chicken quesadilla and a fresh Jamaica juice. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. The al pastor with pineapple was especially good; the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The restaurant had a nice vibe when I went. It was around noon and there were people enjoying food and drinks at the bar while others were dining. The place was busy but still calm, with light music playing in the background. Another thing I always notice when I visit restaurants is cleanliness, especially the bathrooms. The restroom here was very clean and smelled fresh. You can also see into the kitchen area from the dining space, which I love because you can watch them cooking and preparing everything. Friendly staff, great service, and consistently good food. I've been coming here for years and it's still one of my favorite spots for authentic tacos. read more

The ambience and service were great. The food was even better. I tried this place specifically because I wanted Chilaquiles and not every Mexican restaurant serves them. I walked into this place to pick up my take out order. It was big and lively. The food was delicious and I was gifted a dessert for having to wait more time for a missing item. Without question, Tacos Mi Nacho is my favorite place for casual Mexican food. Everything is fresh and flavorful. I love their guacamole, tacos, and tres leches cake. My husband loves their burritos. I recently had lunch at Tacos Mi Nacho in Meriden. I was impressed with the food, the service, and the location. The prices were excellent for the portions of food. They have a full bar so you can have your margarita with the meal. Buen provecho! Terrible. Ate a pork burrito and I felt like I made a mistake and should have stopped eating. However had been commuting and was starving so I ate as much as I could stomach. Pork felt like it had been frozen (for a while) and defrosted. No seasoning an aside from an incredibly salty taste. Sides were bland. Just a terrible experience. Staff was not use to non-locals coming in, a promising sign. I get the nachos and girlfriend gets the tacos. Food came out quickly, which was good cause we were both pretty hungry. In terms of food quality, it's good but not great. It's kind of basic and lacking spice. The meats were cooked in advance and kept warm, so the steak and chicken were a little dry. Everything was lacking salt or sauce, which thankfully they provide a large container of hot sauce to douse your food in. The chips were from a bag, the tamale was lacking pork but the masa was flavored, there was a lack of cheese to the nachos, and the tacos were balanced with good toppings but the meat was dry. The price was very cheap though. Everything came out to 20 dollars, which is not bad for 4 a la carte tacos, a tamale, and some nachos. If you're local, this place will scratch that taco itch. If you're strapped for cash, this place can feed you on the cheap. If you're traveling, I can think of better tacos to get. read more

This restaurant is super nice inside! Service was excellent. We were checked on multiple times by multiple staff members. They were patient with our questions. The food was also excellent. I was in Meriden because my son's tablet needed screen repair and I heard great things about a place nearby. I found tacos mi macho on Yelp and decided to try something new for my weekly taco Tuesday routine. The space is very nice. The parking lot is huge. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. The prices are great. I love that they have complimentary chips with three salsas. Of the tacos I tried the steak were my favorite. My one critique is that I ordered them with everything and they didn't come with additional salsa. I just used the salsas I had remaining from my chips. I ate alone but it was a very welcoming atmosphere. The music selection was great. I would visit again to try some other menu options. Just because it looks like a Mexican Cantina and has the word 'Taco' in the name does not mean they serve authentic Mexican Food. This is Connecticut after all. The atmosphere and ambience was right. The wait staff were warm and friendly. But the 'Tacos' were not Tacos, more like shredded lettuce, with one slice of tomato, with some shredded cheese, and some unseasoned chicken wrapped in a soft shell tortilla. When I walked through the door at Meriden's Tacos Mi Nacho ("TMN"), I felt like I was transported to a different city. But not one in Mexico. TMN seemed like a busy, low on decor, Manhattan financial district takeout business, with a team of people hustling to fill myriad orders, while many people stood nearby, waiting for their turn. As popular as TMN seemed given the Yelp rating and the crowd, their food did not connect with me. I've planned to visit TMN for a while after seeing the 4.5 Star Yelp rating for Mexican fare such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, tamales and Pozole. My wife asked me to surprise her with a takeout order from TMN today. I assumed that I would order one of her go-to's like enchiladas suizas, but TMN didn't have enchiladas on their menu. So as I'm prone to do, I ordered a bunch of different things so she would have a choice. In addition to a chicken tamale and Pozole, I ordered carnitas, pastor, chicken azada and carne azada tacos. They asked if I wanted all of the toppings. I didn't know what that meant, but I said yes! They then came topped with cilantro, onions, lettuce and tomato, and the fillings were hugged by two fresh corn tortillas per taco. Service was friendly, but there were a couple issues. First, they told me it would take about 10 minutes and it was more like 20-25. That's not the worst thing given how busy they were, but it seemed like people who ordered after me were getting served earlier. Second, they asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I said yes, but we didn't get any type of salsa or sauce with our meal. Just lime wedges. The food was mixed. I tried the carne azada taco, the pastor taco, the chicken tamale, and the Pozole. The corn tortillas were well executed and the toppings were fine, but the taco meats were overcooked and lacking natural juices and flavor. Given the Yelp rating and the crowd, I was expecting a Best Taco in Central Connecticut candidate, but that wasn't my experience. Tamales aren't my favorite Mexican order, but TMN's was one of the more flavorful tamales I've had. It was good salty and savory, and uniformly soft, like I expect from tamales. This was my first time trying Pazole. It sort of reminded me of Manhattan Clam Chowder, but with stewed meats and hominy in place of clams. It was served with garnishes like lettuce, cilantro and lime for acidity. It was decent, but it didn't move the needle for me. The atmosphere of TMN is not a selling point. It's small and short on decor. It's in the middle of a small plaza near downtown Meriden, with a crowded parking lot for the restaurant, a laundromat and another business or two. There were a few inside tables, but they were all taken when I arrived and takeout seemed a more popular option. Perhaps Tacos Mi Nacho was having a tough day with the crowd and things improve in slower times. I know the 4.5 Yelp Star rating drew me in, and it should and will draw others. A simple but cute place to grab some authentic Mexican food. Service was pleasant and prompt. Ambiance is casual, a bit run down but not to a degree that it interfered with our enjoyment of a low-cost and tasty meal. We had steak, chicken, shredded pork and beef cheek tacos. I thought the beef cheek was particularly delicious and would definitely get that again as well as the carnitas. The house Margarita was a bit sweet but inexpensive and a nice compliment to the meal. Awful terrible service I think all of the reviews on this are fake or the employees. Our waiter didn't crack a smile and took a dinner break while we were seated so we waited about 30 mins for the check. The sauce on the tamales tasted like cigarettes and tequila. My wife and I have now completed the Tacos Mi Nachos trifecta having dined at their original (now closed) location, their tiny outpost in Southington and this relatively new restaurant. Menu prices have risen - haven't they all? We arrived a little past noon and were seated in a well worn booth with cracks in the pseudo leather upholstery. Our and everyone else's waitress soon delivered menus followed by chips and a pair of salsas. Both of us, that being my wife and I, ordered al pastor street tacos with she choosing the tomato and lettuce option while I while wisely went with cilantro and onions. Hers was pretty good, mine much better. We also had beverages, hers a Coke while I went with a just okay horchata with hers the being the better option. read more

Wow. Not sure what's going on with all the great reviews. This place wasn't that good. Sorry but the 3 different tacos I tried were all bland. Only one of them had a little more taste than the other two but only slightly at that. They were loaded with the protein but bland at best. Meh.....:( Service was pretty quick and she was pleasant. They pump a lot of food out of this plane but doesn't mean it's great. Unfortunately it was mediocre. I wish it was better. I had this place bookmarked forever. My boyfriend and I were running errands in the area and were looking to grab a bite. We ended up coming here at the suggestion of a friend. It is a small shop, with the grill and food prep visible right upon walking in. They were super busy! There are a handful of booths as far as seating goes- all are worn with use. There were lots of different beverages and snacks for sale by the door, in the refrigerators, and by the register. The food was really quick to come and the meat in the barbacoa quesadilla was really tasty- they are not stingy with the protein!!! It also wasn't greasy like how quesadillas can get sometimes. The flan they served was vanilla flan, and it was SUPER rich and definitely a custard more than a pudding (like you get sometimes). My husband and I were looking for something fast, quick and delicious to eat, but not fast food. We stumbled upon this spot. A dine-in or takeout Mexican eatery with a small menu, great prices and kind service! The ambiance of the place speaks, "food truck eating inside of a brick and mortar". Unfortunately, I only caught pictures of my husband's tacos, as mine lasted all of five minutes, lol!! He didn't really love the beef taco as the meat was not very juicy, kind of dry actually. I did, however enjoyed mine! I got 2 shrimp tacos and 1 Al Pastor taco with "everything"! "Everything" here is lettuce, cilantro, onions, tomato, cheese, and I asked for avocado as well! Yum! The shrimp were plump, seasoned and quite large! Definitely my favorite! The Al Pastor was good but I thought it was supposed to have pineapple in there and I didn't get that. I think, adding some grilled pineapple in there would've really taking it to the next level! The trio of housemade sauces that they give in the beginning with tortilla chips is definitely a plus! I wish they would've had a better hot sauce choice though, I was looking for some true heat options and this place did not have that.
