This is by far our favorite Mexican place. I never even liked Mexican food until I came here. No matter what you get it is going to be delicious. They have the best shrimp tacos and the best birria tacos. Their frozen margaritas are so good too. The service is always super fast and food comes out so quick. We also love ordering takeout from here! read more

Twas shortly before noon on a Saturday when my wife and I agreed that neither of us wanted to wait for taco Tuesday to arrive so I navigated a course that led us to Mr. Taco's doorsteps. The restaurant is situated on a side street just several burrito lengths from the Meriden Green where the farmers market was in process of concluding. On entering we were impressed by the size of the interior which was festively decorated as well as the number of employees though the acoustics proved to a bit distracting due to the loud music continuously being played. After a short wait a server arrived bearing at trio of menus, a basket full of taco chips and multiple enhancements. Meat options for the street tacos were not fully detailed, but when queried we were told both pollo and al pastor were available. We decided to share a quartet of the latter plus a pair of sodas. It took quite awhile for our meals to arrive so we took full advantage of the complimentary chips and salsas. It was during this period that I discovered the bottle marked spicy was indeed spicy so it was wisely ignored from that point forward. The tacos proved to be fresh and flavorful though the meat portion was under whelming and extremely dry. Our servers were uniformly pleasant though each step in the process from taking our order to obtaining a check took longer than either desired or required. A rating of 2.5 stars is deemed most appropriate. read more

Everything was great! It was clean, the ambiance was good. The only complaint would be the cologne my waiter had on. Trust me he smelt great but not when my food arrived. He overpowered my food! Lemonade was amazing as was the house special! I've been there twice now and plan to go back. read more

Good Mexican food for a very fair price! I ordered the al pastor burrito to go. Although the burrito was smaller than other burritos I've had, every bite packed a punch of flavor. It also comes with a bag of chips. I'm excited to come back and try more things on the menu. read more

had the most amazing experience at Mr. Taco celebrating Cinco De Mayo! The staff is absolutely incredible - they are so kind and amazing I had the Birria Tacos which were so flavorful and crunchy, these are some of the best i've ever had! We had free tequila shots and half off margaritas and they were so tasty! We also got fresh guacamole, chicken and steak fajitas, birria gorditas (which is the first place i know that serves this!), and the que me ves tacos, which were all insanely good! This will 100% be a go to spot for us, I am so happy to have discovered Mr. Taco! And not to mention, the owner gave us free churros which fresh and out of this world!! read more

Excellent services and the food it is always fresh and delicious. The ambiance it is family friendly.

After living in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY for 5 years in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood, I got to really know the flavors of authentic cuisine from our close neighbors south of the border. I would compare the food at Mr. Taco to the authentic food I've had in Queens. I ordered a shrimp taco, and the "gorditas de lengua" yes that's right... my meat choice was beef tongue. Don't let these fool you, they are very filling despite their size. The shrimp and tongue were cooked well and were very flavorful and soft. I especially don't like rubbery shrimp. The service is normal, about 15 mins to get the food to the table, and the staff was very accommodating to anything we needed. I'm looking forward to my next trip here. read more

No love here at all. Had a mix of a few things. All were very bland, almost no cheese on the nachos, very small tacos, etc. Prices do not reflect quality. read more

Such a great spot. Inside is fun and colorful and clean when we went. We were seated immediately. Our services was great as well. Usually we ask many questions, they were all answered swiftly by our multiple waiters and we were served our appetizers and entrees quickly. We always get Guac at any Mexican spot and theirs was great! Super fresh and was actually nice and spicy. The birria tacos were great, same with the flautas. Everything just tasted great. Since we've gone I've actually wanted to come back and try more menu items. We're also got a tres leches cake for desert and it was literally so creamy and fluffy and just so decadent! Definitely coming back either for a sit down or take out in the future. read more

So sad.. for the first time I decided to order and pick up.. I ordered nachos not thinking that they would put the chips in with the rest of the ingredients.. well they did and it's a soggy mess.. I have ordered from other places and they always put the chips in a separate container. Very disappointing.. this is one of my favorite places to eat, food and service is always good. I am very into Mexican food and am always in search of a great new place. This place has good food, below average margaritas, average ambiance, great prices. The food is actually pretty good. The salsa is wonderful and there are many options. Better than I expected based on the ambiance. The ambiance isn't bad, but not fantastic either. It's nice that they had real Mexican music playing. The margaritas were good tasting but VERY WEAK. Good prices though. Service was good. read more

I've only gotten orders to go through work so I'm not sure how the service is, but they've gotten large orders right each time! Food is pretty good. So far I've only had the tacos and rice. I will say the taco meat is a little bit on the dry side which is unfortunate because it looks good and the ingredients are fresh. I've tried their birria tacos which theirs is made from beef (not goat)I've also had the carne asada, carnitas and barbacoa tacos. All again were dry. Their rice however is good and flavorful and cooked well. Prices are great. All of my coworkers really enjoyed their tacos but I guess I'm a little pickier. Perhaps it's better to eat it there read more

Holy guacamole. Mr. Taco is mucho bueno! This colorful establishment is so bright and open and makes you feel completely welcome. You walk in and seat yourself in either tables or booths available. Our server came over and greeted us with menus, and with complimentary fresh chips and salsa. This made me super happy! And the salsa was on point! The cilantro and diced onion were a great touch in making it absolutely refreshing with every bite. The big craze and "most popular" item on the menu were of course the Birria Tacos and I can definitely see why. These were probably the best ones I ever had. The reason for that being is, every time I have ordered birria tacos from other places, the shells have been soft or soggy. But not the shells at Mr. Taco! They were super crunchy and filled with shredded beef, cheese, cilantro and diced onion. Also served with fresh cut limes and sauce on the side. The flavors were amazing and the tacos were easier to eat while dipping in the sauce. We also tried the chicken burrito bowl which was refried beans, yellow rice, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and chicken. To finish off, we had the flan and tres leches cake. Both were divine! You can never go wrong with dessert, but you can tell these were homemade and filled with love! What a great meal overall and what a helpful waitstaff. All the waiters and waitresses worked together and made sure we were accommodated in every way from beginning to end. Great job Mr. Taco, I'll be back! read more

5 stars for Mr. Taco's fabulous birria tacos!!! They also serve excellent guacamole, burritos, and tacos with tons of choices for fillings. This restaurant is clean, has a good number of tables, and delivers super friendly service. They have lots of special items in addition to what's on the menu. Items include fajitas and whole fried fish. We were so impressed with how fresh and delicious the food was in this fast casual restaurant. Their prices are great and they have a parking lot next door, which makes it easy to do takeout. My husband and I plan to visit often!! read more

I was in the area and wanted some tacos. One of my friends recommended this place as opposed to another taco place nearby that I have tried before. He had mentioned to try the Pastor Taco. I had tried this type of taco only once before while visiting Chelsea Pier in NYC this past fall and fell in love with that kind of taco! Upon entering Mr Taco, I was impressed with how big the restaurant is and how big their menu was. I was greeted by multiple workers and the woman who took my order at the register was very helpful and pleasant. I had mentioned it was my first time in there and the workers smiled and said how much I'll like the food. They put in one of every sauce to try with my tacos along with chips which do come with every purchase. I bought 3 tacos for about $8 which is a great deal. The location isn't ideal if you are wanting to go past it getting dark outside- I found myself rushing to and from my car. The flavor of the pastor tacos were amazing and I loved how juicy the meat was and how flavorful the tacos were. I will absolutely be back to try more- especially those Birria tacos which are a favorite of mine! read more

Always amazing food and service. No complaints! The inside is also really nice and spacious.

First off friendly staff, secondly the salsa and chips were endless. Family friendly sit where ever you like. Let me say I eat a lot of Mexican food and this is by far one of the best ever! We were driving back down from Providence, RI to Westchester county NY just to give you an idea. I yelped it off the 691 parkway. Meridian was on the map and Mr Taco didn't disappoint us one bit. read more

We went in tonight to try Mr. taco for the first time. My husband spotted it because he works in the area. Plenty of parking on the side of the building and we walked into a very clean and bright open area the counter was at the back of the room and there was seating for people who chose to eat in. We were promptly greeted by a staff member and provided menus very shortly after a young man came by and took our drink orders I had a margarita and my husband had a Dr. Pepper. We were provided chips and a very fresh and delicious salsa. He got Birria tacos and I had a burrito bowl with al pastor meat. My husband said they were the best Birria tacos he has had. The bite I took was very cheesy and flavorful without being greasy. My Burrito bowl was delicious the base with Spanish rice there were also fresh tomato slices a little bit of lettuce mixed with cilantro plenty of cheese and I was offered a variety of sauces to top off my meal. The spicy salsa was amazing! Please be aware it is actually spicy. The staff spoke Spanish and English and and it seemed they worked seamlessly as a team to ensure outstanding service for every guest. We will definitely be back. read more

Enjoy my evening with a taco nacho meal.Good clean service!! Would definitely recommend you try this place!

I am constantly trying New Mexican restaurants in my area. In Meriden, this is their BEST Mexican cuisine spot! As soon as we sat down we were handed freshly cooked tortilla chips paired with salsa that tasted like the tomatoes were just picked from a garden... out of this world! We then had nachos which were the bomb! For our entree- I had a chicken burrito and my boyfriend had tacos. Both delicious! It was an overall fantastic experience. After all of that food.. it was only $22!!! For an authentic meal that tastes THIS good, this is the Mexican spot for Meriden!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised with Mr Taco. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was great. I didn't expect such a full menu - and even "real drinks!" - from its outside appearance. Being from Chicago, taquerias are all over the place. When I moved here they were few and far between. I did find Taco Mi Nacho and that became my go to local place. However, I felt like a change and saw Mr Taco on yelp and thought I'd give it a try. It turns out, it's better! The steak plattios are tastier and prepared much better. I also had a carnitas burrito which was great. I think I've found my new favorite taqueria! read more

I spent $ 100.47 including a $ 10.00 tip and they forgot to put 3 chicken tacos. When I complained they practically accused me of wanting to steal 3 more tacos. The employee kept insisting that she had given it to me without being true. Then I lost my patience. The manager came out and decided to give me the tacos but while she said to make them the employee kept insisting that she gave it to me. I told him how I felt and told him to forget it. That employee apparently does not understand that she represents the business and her actions will be reflected in the business. The only solution that I would accept is that they fire that employee for being so insistent with a client that just gave them a tip of more value than the 3 tacos that cost $5.00. After the whole ordeal I lost my appetite and decided to go to my usual place (Taco mi nachos). I gave the food away to the homeless. read more

My husband, two toddlers and I got takeout here a few nights ago and OMG were we pleased!!! It was the sort of last minute "oh crap, it's dinner time and we're still like 30 minutes from home...and nothing is prepped" that necessitated a pickup situation. We ordered the birria tacos, pork tamale, tacos que me ves, and a chicken quesadilla, ALLLLLL of which surpassed our expectations!! The four of us ate to our fill for under $40, and we will definitely be adding this spot to our takeout rotation! As it goes with toddlers, neither of our kids cared much for the meal we ordered them, but they did love our tacos and the tamale we shared. When he went inside to pick up our order, the young woman who helped my husband offered chips and a selection of salsas free of charge, one of which my daughter drank right out of the container Hands down five out of five stars, and can't wait to try other menu items!! read more
