The restaurant is situated on a side street just several burrito lengths from the Meriden Green where the farmers market was in process of concluding. On entering we were impressed by the size of the interior which was festively decorated as well as the number of employees though the acoustics proved to a bit distracting due to the loud music continuously being played. After a short wait a server arrived bearing at trio of menus, a basket full of taco chips and multiple enhancements. Meat options for the street tacos were not fully detailed, but when queried we were told both pollo and al pastor were available. We decided to share a quartet of the latter plus a pair of sodas. It took quite awhile for our meals to arrive so we took full advantage of the complimentary chips and salsas. It was during this period that I discovered the bottle marked spicy was indeed spicy so it was wisely ignored from that point forward. The tacos proved to be fresh and flavorful though the meat portion was under whelming and extremely dry. Our servers were uniformly pleasant though each step in the process from taking our order to obtaining a check took longer than either desired or required. A rating of 2.5 stars is deemed most appropriate.

I told the it was our first time there and the lady taking my order answered some questions I had with a smile. I ordered 1 cow tongue taco, 1 al pastor taco, a kids beef burrito and a steak burrito. The kids burrito is a great deal. You get a choice of a burrito or quesadilla and it comes with fries for 9 bucks. The lady was so humble she didn't even realize they had great reviews online until I showed her. Everything was good with my favorite being the burrito and the cow tongue and my least favorite being the al pastor (not that it wasn't good, it was just ok). The food was ready quickly and they even gave us 2 of their limeades on the house! Delicious btw I highly recommend their homemade limeade. It's so refreshing and sweet and the perfect compliment to the fat is and burritos. The food smelled so good even in the container lol. I'm def going to be a regular here.

We moved back to the East Coast after living in California for a few years, and this is the only place we've found that comes close to that kinda authentic and fresh Mexican food. I loved the chips served with three different salsa/dipping options. One is hot! I won't tell you which one, why ruin the fun? I ordered the shrimp and mushroom quesadilla in corn tortillas. My husband had a pork burrito. I skipped the refried beans only because I didn't know if they were vegetarian safe. The margaritas were refreshing and had more of a natural orange flavor rather than that heavy, syrupy fake-lime taste--which I really appreciated! It's a little bit of a drive for us to get there, but the food was delicious enough that we'll definitely be back. The bathroom was also clean, which is always a plus! I love the Mexican music that was playing in the background too.

It gives abuela's dining room that hasn't changed since 1996 vibes. If the decor had a MySpace it will be playing Gasolina on its page. However, you come here for the flavor fiesta. Service is always superb as well. The waiter this time around was observant & bubbly. He kept cracking jokes like if it was open mic comedy night. There was Spanish music playing on speakers. I was vibing & almost got up to start dancing like I was in a mariachi band. My go to meal is the La Parrillada. It consists of grilled pork(really bacon),chicken, & steak(I always add on shrimp),Mexican sauce served w/ rice, refried beans(umm, umm w/ cheese on top),lettuce, avocado slices, & corn tortillas . I minus the pico de gallo sauce(I'm not a fan of onions yeah I know,I know but it's my nemesis like Superman w/ kyptonite). My food took a little bit to come out but I munched on the complimentary chips & salsa. When my food arrived I was ready to devour like a T-Rex dinosaur. I made myself tacos w/ the corn tortillas like a professional Lego building master. I packed it up w/ rice, beans,& meats/shrimp. It was mouth watering! I felt like a vampire drooling over a victim(like the Sinners movie). Ha,ha! They're famous for their signature drinks. You can get a regular sized or super sized drink(like if you were in a '90's Mickey D's). They have a full bar w/ anything you desire. From wine to beer to mixed drinks & more! Overall,gr8 experience! I just wish the interior was updated. It has so much potential. Also, I almost forgot to mention there is a fee if you use credit card & 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. I didn't mind the added gratuity b/c I always tip 20% anyways but the credit card fee is always bummer. I hardly carry cash.

I decided to start off with a Cosmopolitan, and later got a Pomtini, but since they didn't have Pomegranate Juice, I had it replaced with Cranberry Juice. Both were still really tasty, and my favorite part was the sugar on the rim, made it taste so good. I got some Elotes, honestly they were okay, the corn was more on the undercooked side, a lil hard. The wings were actually pretty good, the meat was juicy. I had a lava cake for dessert and it was pretty tasty too. I also had the nachos w/chicken recently since I stopped by again, but didn't take a picture. Honestly, those were eh, the nachos got soggy really fast and weren't crunchy, so that was disappointing. Overall everything came out pretty fast, I wasn't waiting very long. Leo was an amazing bartender, great conversation. My onion-averse burrito came out 100% onion-free. That level of reading comprehension alone deserves a key to the city. Now, onto the heavy hitters. The Steak & Chicken/Chorizo Burritos: The meat was seasoned like someone's abuela was standing in the back threatening the line cook if it came out bland. Incredible flavor on both. The Rice: Cooked to absolute perfection. Not a single grain was undercooked and crunchy, nor was it a sad mushy paste. The Queso Situation: These bad boys arrive draped in a glorious blanket of melted queso. Personally, I loved it! I am fully prepared to attack a burrito with a knife and fork like a sophisticated savage. But fair warning to the traditionalists: if you want to pick this thing up with your hands without needing a post-meal hazmat shower, order that queso on the side. 10/10 Middletown gem. Will be back to drown another burrito in cheese very soon.
