First time coming here because we wanted something quick to eat I try not to compare to other companies, but it's hard to when they're sort of the same. I've had a choice of beef, pork and chicken with one option for rice, with many veggies and other sides I ended up getting a rice bowl with chicken and Carnitas, and loaded it with all the veggies sides We also got some tacos, which for a very tiny, with about a bite of steak in each definitely not worth it read more

Not the first bad review I've had to leave from this location. Ordered 2 burritos, told the guy the first order, girl came over and asked what the second one was getting, jokingly I said it'll be the easiest thing she had to make all day, rice chicken and hot sauce. She mad face, shook her head and walked away and started putting chicken on the flat top to cook, I have never seen anyone there take the chicken from the nice red marinade color and turn it white by spraying so much cooking spray on it. I really doubt that's how they are taught to cook the chicken. Then she rung me out and gave the worst attitude when my free burrito coupon from the app didn't work and she had t reload it. read more

Came here for the first time for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the steak tacos. I also got chips and a side of queso. The food was good but i barely had any meat in my taco. I did like that they made the tortillas fresh on a press. Overall service was fast and prices were fair. read more

Whatever happened to "no shirt, no shoes, no dice"? I walked in on June 6, 2026 sometime 5-6pm. The very first thing I saw was a group of guys without shirts on eating and it made me feel so uncomfortable. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where that has happened before. I walked out because I felt unsafe and uncomfortable. I do not know if a manager was present or not, but understand if the frontline staff did not want to confront them. Frontline staff members are not security. However, if a manager or owner was there, they should've addressed the issue. read more

We were searching for a restaurant along North Colony Drive on a Saturday night when we came upon this quick service Mexican restaurant and decided to give it a try. Each of us chose a burrito and noted the humongous tortillas were being freshly made. There are numerous options for you to customize your entree with us choosing grilled/marinated chicken along with rice, black beans, corn and pico de gallo. Everything proved to be fresh tasting and quite filling. read more

i definitely want to start this off but giving a shout out to the workers - they were beyond kind and mindful, ensuring that i had everything i needed, asking how my day was etc, it put a smile on my face! i ordered my bowl online and i thought it was pretty good but could've been a bit warmer. it did have good flavor, the steak was tender, and it was a good size! however, i got black beans with it and it was definitely not strained or tossed because i had a ton of juice in the bowl! the queso was good too but a little too thick - i would still come back again read more

Pick up order ready on time. Not until later did we realize they'd not put the chips we'd ordered in the bag. Food was ok. Not bad. Not great. I had burrito which was huge. Fairly tasty but supposed to have chicken. If so it was undetectable. Also jalapeños. Same. Couldn't find or taste anything resembling a jalapeño. Wife had burrito bowl, which is good gluten free option. Said same that it was ok but not all that tasty. Not saying I wouldn't try again, but also wouldn't go out of my way. read more

It was horrible i've ben going to pancheros for 6 months ive used the app multiple times to get a free burrito same order every time and now they want to charge sense i got extra meet it is false advertising a scam dropped half of my food from the burrito in to other sauces more worried about talking to there co worker it's a dirty environment rice is old a lot of times i think there using the free burrito app to scam people out of money for them selves i can't even believe i have to give a 1 star review to post this shouldn't even have a start for this spot in the first place. read more

While the place was clean and the food & service was good, the portions are pretty small for the price. Moe's has a better selection of toppings and free chips/salsa and Chipotle has bigger portions. For those reasons, I do not think I would return to this establishment. read more

My wife and I were looking for a quick dinner with an outside dining option near her car service appointment in Wallingford. I remembered that there was a Yelp Elite event that I missed at nearby Pancheros. Pancheros is essentially an assembly line style burrito, taco and bowl place. You pick your style, your proteins and toppings, and they make it for you. I chose a burrito with pork carnitas and toppings such as pinto beans, queso, corn, pico, peppers and onions. They seemed to press the tortilla on the spot and it was soft and a step up from normal. The filling was good and felt healthier than many places we could have chosen for a quick dinner. My wife also liked her tofu bowl. The Guac, salsa and blue chips were good too. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. The decor was modern and stylish for a fast casual. Four Stars read more

Folks, don't sleep on this fast food gem. Fresh tortilla made right before your eyes, fresh ingredients. Consistently kind service. A lot of times food service employees can get a little dead inside from dealing with the hateful public, but it must be great here, because the mood always seems happy and upbeat. We stop anytime we are in the area. Love it. read more

If you like a freshly pressed tortilla made in front of you as you order then you definitely should stop by Pancheros Mexican Grill in Wallingford! The service was impeccable! As soon as I walked up to the counter to place my order, I was looking up at the menu and I was kindly redirected to a human that assured me he would walk me through my order, without having to look at the menu. I'm a sucker for great service!!! I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla with black beans and grilled veggies and queso and sour cream. My fiancé ordered the Chicken and Steak Rice bowl, loaded!! He said it was great! We will definitely be back for a burrito! read more

Pancheros Mexican Grill is a chain of fast casual Tex Mex restaurants that was founded in 1992. The chain was founded by Rodney Anderson. I recently attended a Yelp Connecticut Elite event at the location in Wallingford, Connecticut (which happens to be the closest location to me). This location opened in April 2007 and is owned by the Mesite Family of restaurateurs (who have owned several different restaurant properties in the area for over 60 years). Pancheros' goal is to offer consumers various meals made from fresh ingredients at reasonable prices. All items are made fresh on the premises. At the end of the day, all leftover items are thrown out; they don't even have a freezer to put them in. At this special Elite event, all attending Yelp Elite members were treated to their choice of meal (burrito, burrito bowl, tacos or quesadilla) with a side of blue corn chips, fresh queso dip, and a fountain beverage. I decided to go with a Steak Burrito. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh, especially the fresh-pressed tortilla. The blue corn chips with the homemade queso were also excellent. Aside from the food, I enjoyed meeting all of the other friendly Elite members. Overall, I really enjoyed my food at Pancheros and I would definitely go back. Thank you to Yelp Connecticut and the Wallingford location of Pancheros Mexican Grill for making this happen! read more

This is a blast from the past! I remember when they opened in Shelton back in 2007. I used to stop in for lunch at least three times a week when I worked in Trumbull. I LOVE that they press them fresh, but I went with a burrito bowl today with steak. The chips were a little salty for my taste but it is impossible to make everyone happy. Overall, delicious as always! Robert the owner and the manager Ty were amazing as well! I will always recommend this place over other chains! They have a decent sized seating area inside and I never noticed the little patio on the side! They even have heat lamps! They are the best! read more

First off...I love Pancheros!!! I've never been to another location, but I've been coming to this one for years. My daughters are six and they had to be maybe one when my friend and I first came here. We've been regulars ever since. When I suggest Pancheros for dinner my girls are always extatic! The food is consistently fresh and healthier than normal for a to-go quick service Mexican restaurant. While the freshly pressed tortilla is a plus, my absolute go to is the bowl! Depending on the server sometimes you'll get HUGE helpings, and in general you always get more in a bowl. The carnitas is delicious, and I love that they offer a little cilantro on top. They will even mix both kinds of beans or multiple kinds of meat for no extra charge. I've also always had wonderful service here! One gentleman in particular has been there for years and is just so nice! Always has a smile on his face and offers a warm reception...I will be sure to get his name and update this review! One point I will make is that some of the negative reviews are regarding online orders. I cannot speak to this because I always go in and order. It's honestly very fast, so to me it doesn't matter. I plan to continue to be a regular here for a long while! read more

So even though I been to two other yelp events, but this is the first as a yelp member. Which made it more special. But enough about me let's talk Mexican grill. This has got to be one of best Mexican grill around so far. They are courteous and helpful and ready to serve whatever you like. Off the menu of course. They have indoor and outdoor dining! The food is fresh and truly is authentic Mexican food. I also got to meet some awesome yelp friends and family, and looking forward to future events. Shouts out to Alex or yelp leader. Your awesome dude, thank you for fixing things for me. Now if you are truly looking for some amazing, and authentic Mexican food. Then this place is a definitely must try out! The meat was soft and tender, cooked just right! And they have it all from The guacamole to the cheese, diced tomatoes. They have amazing quesadillas and quesadillas sauce, ranch ranch Dressing, fresh vegetables and lettuce. The prices are definitely reasonable and worth it. Very clean and organized restaurant. For the atmosphere alone my current BFF/ future wife will definitely be returning several times. Trust me you will enjoy it, if you like or love Mexican food. I stopped here after an oil change at Toyota. It was late in the afternoon, around 3 pm, and I was starving since I missed lunch. I ordered a burrito and was impressed. First off, they pay attention to detail, when they rolled my burrito, there was a small tear, and they were going to remake/roll it, but I told them not to do so, and it would still taste the same! There are a lot of options here, but everything is fresh and homemade. My only issue is that some things are included, but others like cheese, sour cream, guac, and queso are extra. So depending on what you order, it can get a little pricy. I understand there is a cost for all of these, but maybe a regular and supreme option is a better approach, so it doesn't feel like they are nickel and diming you. The food quality and taste makes up for the cost because everything is delicious. Also, even though I came there very hungry, I could only get through half, since my burrito was packed with so many wonderful ingredients. I love that Pancheros is a chain, but doesn't feel like one at all. Would I come back? Sure, if I was in the area. I just looked on their site, and there is a location in Shelton, which is much closer to me, and I might have to stop there soon! read more

If you can imagine a Chipotle ripoff with overtly friendly customer service, that pretty much sums up Pancheros. It is so much so like Chipotle that it unfortunately has to be compared to the successful major chain (minus an E.coli scare or two) rather than a stand-alone restaurant. The meat selection seems to have less flavor overall. Having had the carnitas at one point and chicken at my next visit, it seems like the seasoning doesn't set with the meat while cooking as well. I speculate but can't confirm that there is probably less salt used as well which may be better for your health, but means the meat is lacking in character. A week or two before Chipotle announced their "queso sauce," Pancheros had their queso cheese which has been advertised heavily in all the ads I get in the mail as well as in-store. Honestly, queso sauce in both these restaurants is not that great, it doesn't add flavor, and makes things messy overall. Hard pass. Two things make Pancheros stand out then from their competitor. The tortillas used in the burritos are more doughy and less greasy. The extra stretch of each tortilla means the hefty burritos can hold more weight and not tear apart after two bites. The other notable characteristic, at least at this location, is that all the workers greet you like a small business would greet their regulars who have been there for years. Shame really, if Pancheros came 10 years earlier into the game I think it may have had a shot. read more

Let me start off by saying, my husband and I are basically "Pancheros aficionados" as we have been to them all over the country, starting in South Dakota. This shop is one of our very top, if not our new favorite location. The 2 gentlemen working (we'll refer to them as Chris 1 & Chris 2 [they both had jackets saying Chris]) were the greatest! Chris 1 greeted us as we came up to the counter like we were longtime friends, and Chris 2 came out from the back to help Chris 1 out with the rest of the opening duties (we came in shortly after opening as we passed through town) and finished my husbands burrito. Chris 2 was also extremely kind. They gave generous portions, had great attitudes, and as always the tortillas were perfect and the burritos were wrapped tight! Highly recommend this location, and I hope everyone can get the same friendly service from my new two favorite Chris'! read more
