The food always taste super fresh, and on the hardshell tacos they use Munster cheese, which is delicious. The waiters and waitresses are super nice, they're always smiling and recognize their repeat customers. I ordered three cheese enchiladas and it came with rice and refried beans. Overall, I was disappointed. The salsa was red, but had no flavor. Just tasted like tomato sauce. It was on the thicker side. I did not care for the enchiladas either. They put lettuce and tomato on top of the enchiladas and then melted cheese on top of that with sauce. To lettuce and tomato was wet and soggy since it was under the sauce and cheese. . I did order chips and salsa. It came with three red salsa and three green salsa. Unfortunately, all of the salsa was too spicy for me. Personally, I couldn't eat any of the salsa, but if you're someone who likes really spicy salsa, you would like it. Love love L O V E los mariachis! I go here every time I go to Wallingford! It's a hole in the wall and no-frills, but ive never had a bad meal. As a solo diner, I go at opening time for a quiet lunch. One of the few remaining restaurants that serve hard shell tacos as flour and tortillas taste like dry rags with meat and veggies on them to me. When I went yesterday, service was a tad slow but not a deal breaker as I was killing time for an appointment. I had the three birria tacos for the lunch special that left me quite full if not itis-y. The tacos were awesome and the chips and salsa are always good. This Is a great hole in the wall Mexican restaurant! My favorite things are the spicy passion fruit margarita and the shrimp burrito. Both are outrageously good. The servers are so friendly and I really like the energy in the bar. My only complaint in the parking lot is small and tight. Chips with HOT HOT sauce and cilantro sauce was given upon arrival, not your typical "salsa". Nachos and cheese/jalapeños didn't taste authentic. Ordered the steak and chicken fajitas with peppers and onions, however I only received about 4-5 pieces. The steak tacos with rice and beans were good. I didn't really like the salsas (one green, one red) that they served with the chips. I did like the $6 house Margarita, and I was thrilled they served it without the salted rim. If you want the salted rim, be sure to ask for it. We were both happy with our dinners: Enchiladas Mayas with Chicken, and a spicy pork Supreme Burrito. Hey Los Mariachis! You are our favourite mexican food place. So much that we had Los Mariachis food truck at our wedding. They have the best Jalapeño poppers and it is not the frozen stuff. They make it in house and are super delicious. This is the one cheat meal I give myself whenever we go there. The veggie tacos are also amazing. Their vegetarian fajitas are also delicious but also have huge quantity. It would easily be enough for 2 people. I feel they have come super close to authentic mexican food as per my mexican husband. The whole experience was NASTY. We were a large party- fifteen to twenty - people arriving/leaving at various times. We sat outside where we were treated to the smell of rotting garbage. And the flies! Horrendous - people had to cover their food with napkins to keep the flies off. The waitress assigned us numbers for our checks. My husband and I were number 13. Everyone knew their number. Cool. We ordered the queso dip, guacamole (because I asked if it was made fresh and the answer was yes) and the classic nachos. The queso was bright orange and basically watered down, canned, nacho cheese. Disgusting. The guacamole was slimy and also bagged, pre-made grossness. The nachos were unremarkable. Didn't care for the chips - flavorless and stale maybe? Yuck. Then- here's the best part- the waitress tells us that she can't split the bill because it's "too much" - that's all she kept saying. Made zero sense. We balk, and another waitress comes out and retakes everyone's order and rings up everyone's checks separately. And still - some were wrong. It was a nightmare. Never again. I absolutely love coming to this place. The service is great. The blue margarita is the best drink. They have different specials for each day of the week except for Friday, But Friday has the mariachi band. They do $2 taco Tuesdays, Thursdays are signature sangrias for $6. They don't have an actual menu they have a QR code scanner on the table. I do wish that they had actual menus. The steak fajitas are my usual this time I got barrier tacos which were really good. And a steak fajita quesadilla. The quesadilla was a good size the barrier tacos was a small portion that came with three tacos. But leaves room for dessert or someone who doesn't want to overeat. The fajitas come with a lot of food I always have some leftover when I eat that. After being seated they came over with water and it's like they knew me because they gave me two right away. I love having my water refilled quick so this was awesome to me. They brought it with chips and spicy and non-spicy salsa. The food came really quick and so did the check when we asked for it. Los Mariachis is a solid Mexican restaurant in downtown Wallingford. I went recently and had a good experience. I ordered a house margarita to drink and it was very good! Next came the free chips and salsa... I liked the chips, and they give you two varieties of salsa, red and green. I'm not a fan of anything spicy though, and both were too spicy for my liking. For my meal I ordered the fish tacos, which came with fried tilapia, lettuce, and tomato served in three soft corn tortillas. They were also very good! The inside is pretty spacious, with a bar area in one room, main dining area in another room, and then an outdoor patio. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. One thing to keep in mind... they have a Mariachi band that plays some nights (I believe Fri/Sat) and it can get a little loud with the music, so maybe not the best place if you're looking for a quiet dinner. All three tacos had soggy shells, flavorless meat that tasted sour and only topped with onions and cilantro. The worst taco I've ever eaten. I also ordered the guacamole with chips. Chips were stale and needed some salt. Guacamole looked like avocados were just pureed and that was it. No chunks of tomato, red onion or anything that you typically find in a GOOD Guacamole. But this one again had no flavor and tasted weird. Maybe cause they just used lime juice so the avocados wouldn't brown and nothing else. First complaint, they had no pricing on their menu. We ordered a spicy pork burrito and steak quesadilla and it came to $21. Seemed expensive but assumes it would be a good amount of food for the price. Let's start with the good...I loved my steak quesadilla. It was cheesey as heck and the steak was good. I was also pleasantly surprised it came with a pretty substantial side of guacamole & sour cream. The husband's burrito though? Not so great. It was VERY small. Not worth $11 by any stretch of the imagination. This was sad and surprising as the list of ingredients was pretty significant....guac, rice, etc. Definitely should have been stuffed for the price we paid. No sides, toppings or anything. There are lots of great food trucks around CT, we will not be running to try them the next time we see them out. read more

Pretty disappointed on dinner last night. Usually when we go into the restaurant the food has always been so good but take out was mediocre at best. I feel like it was rushed and no thought went into it. Nachos looked like cheese sauce that came in a jar. I could have just made this at home. My son's quesadilla was ok he said but it wasn't even cut snd it came with French fries. I didn't select that at check out because I didn't want him to have fries but when he saw them or course he wanted them. He's a kid. My soft tacos just had chicken, onions and more cilantro than anything. I love cilantro but this was excessive. No tomatoes? No pico de gallo as in description. It just wasn't good.
