The place was relatively quiet when we got there, server was friendly but awkward. Tried to be informative but hung around a little too much. We ordered a smattering of foods. The tostones, their asada fried with chips, a trio of tacos, and finished off with some churros. The food came out quickly and we dug in. The tostones were first, and they were surprisingly well done. The plantain was crisp, the guac and creama was fresh and vibrant. The chorizo was spicy and meaty, and the dish was well composed. Then was the asada chips. That too was pretty good. The queso was a bit salty, but the steak pieces were not seasoned so it actually worked together well. Coupled with the fresh pico and guac it was a very tasty start. The tacos really fell flat. Rice was unseasoned, beans had a little smoke to them but no real complimentary flavors. The taco tortillas, meats, and condiments were very simply presented. No seasoning on the proteins, no acid in the veggies, no toasting of the tortilla. So it was what was described on then menu, but was very bland. The churros were functional, frozen and vanilla stuffed with canned whipped cream and hersheys chocolate syrup.kinda generic, but not bad. The empanadas were the wrong ones, we ordered the birrata and we got the chicken tinga. We sent it back and didn't get a replacement. The location is clean but small. Decorated to be fancy but very much trying to be a bar rather than a restaurant. The owner and server were within ear shot, and inquired about our meal. The missus was very honest on what worked and what didn't work. The owner appreciated the feedback and removed the churros from our total. That being typed, we were charged 77 dollars for the food we did have. I suspect they still charged us for the empanadas despite them not sending us the right ones. For the quality presented, the price doesn't line up with the expectation. For the area, there's a lot of competition. To outshine the rest, you need to offer either a better bite or a cheaper bite. Right now, they are in that middle ground of being okay enough to get a meal but not cheap enough to justify the simplicity. They need to either improve their standards or lower their costs to compete. If you want to try them, go in knowing that the proteins are underseasoned and the prices are a little high. Stick to the "pr" menu items and you will have a pretty decent meal.
