I love Southington. Born and raised here. When I return, I feel like I'm home. It goes to a whole new level when I meet friends at Anthony Jack's. Anthony Jack's ... it's like home, on steroids! It feels like family in here. And that's an awesome vibe. This place isn't for blue hairs only. Being I was here today for lunch, it was a younger crowd, along with children of the younger crowd. This was really nice to see Meeting great friends from Southington here for lunch, even though there are other choices, Anthony Jack's is a solid local favorite. Not only for me, but for the many. Today I was in the mood for a burger, and I ordered the $13 burger which arrived cooked medium, along with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. This was all served on a wonderful fluffy soft fresh roll. Chef chose a great roll to serve this burger on. The hamburger patty was not the frozen type cheap stuff; this was fresh ground beef, and hand formed. A quarter pound it seemed, and grilled with a nice charcoal flavor to it. It was very juicy and hit the spot. Also included with crispy well seasoned french fries and a little salad with house dressing. For $13 this was an excellent value. Our server, Brianna, was very very cheerful knowledgeable of the menu, and of course, very attentive to our needs. To say our service was perfect would be an understatement. I wish other food establishments had servers like Brianna. She's really that good. Restrooms, of course were clean, as usual. Parking was a breeze out front, but there are also many parking spaces at the rear of the restaurant and utilize the restaurant's back entrance. It was nice to come back home. And it was just as nice to return to Anthony Jack's. Anthony Jack's .. until I see you again, you left me with a smile and full. My husband decided to go here for his birthday. He read the reviews, close to our house. All great ideas. We tried to call to make a reservation. No one was answering. We still went and got seated right away. Our waitress was very nice and she offered a complimentary dessert for his birthday which was also very nice. We shared the buffalo chicken tenders for the appetizer and everyone loved it. The drinks, mocktails and entrees were missing something I'm afraid. No seasonings, I rarely add salt at the restaurant , I had to do it here. Not sure how the kitchen is setup but at the window, the 2 people there, were looking in the dining room more than the kitchen so I didn't get the setup. Came last week for my mom's birthday. We weren't going to do apps but I last minute decided to do the eggplant which was an A+++ choice because that was a 10/10 dish. I might come back in the future to order that and some other stuff as a main. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. My mom had short rib which I didn't get a pic of but it was pretty good. I had the bbq mixed grill which was fine but all the meat was covered in a thick sweet bbq sauce which I wasn't expecting and I lost all flavor of the wood grill. We had a great meal at Anthony Jacks! Some of the reviews were iffy, but we went anyway because the menu looked good. Three of us went for lunch on a Sunday. We had great service, tasty food, and the prices were reasonable. All of our meals were large enough to take home leftovers for a second serving. Had a lovely time starting off patio season with my friends at Anthony Jack's. They have a nice outdoor seating spot with an awning. The service was phenomenal. Food is decent I had the steak tip marsala (not pictured). My friend shared some shrimp cocktail with me and they had some salads which is perfectly refreshing for the summer. Had an opportunity to check out Anthony Jacks in Southington. I visited them on a Sunday evening. We called to put our name in (per their recommendation) ahead of time, but the place wasn't busy at that time we arrived (always a good practice though). We were seated near the window at a 2 person table. I was expecting a draft, but when I sat down, I noticed it wasn't drafty at all. The setting is a very quiet one (at least on the day that I went). It was perfect for a date night out when you want to hear the person you are on the date with. The menu offered a decent variety of options. A solid amount of the dinner dishes were seafood or steak, though. It's not an issue, just something to note. The prices are in the $$ range. When you arrive at your table they bring rolls (common practice) BUT they give you what appeared to be a small amount of mashed potatoes covered in garlic and olive oil to dip the rolls in. INTERESTING. Those rolls carried us nicely into our salads. I ordered the Steak and Chicken Tips. It was delicious. They were cascaded with veggies over a bed of mashed potatoes. The mushrooms were cut perfectly for single biting. My date (my wife) got the Cranberry Chicken and substituted for roasted potatoes instead of mashed. She was happy with the flavor balance of the chicken and the roasted potatoes had a crusted texture that added to the whole meal. Server was very attentive the whole meal. Went out for a date night and based off other reviews decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did. The place was pretty busy but we were seated fairly quickly. However tonight I was there with my wife and kids and while enjoying our meal I'm assuming the owner (older red head woman) stopped by our table to ask how everything was meanwhile all we can smell is alcohol on her . We were short trying to enjoy our meal in peace but this made us uncomfortable and we won't be returning. Totally unprofessional to to talk to customers smelling like that. read more

A bit hesitant to come here based on the yelp 3.7 rating but gave it a shot anyway as we were in the area. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. Among the dishes we had was the cranberry chicken, chicken piccata, chicken cordon blue a d the blackened chicken sandwich. The sandwich was a wrap which seemed pretty straightforward but the chicken was super flavorful and very good. The other dishes were good too with the chicken being nice and crispy. Enjoyed the fried eggplant appetizer, something different and never had it before. My swordfish lunch was okay. I was asked how I wanted it cooked and it was the first, so obviously I wanted it cooked well and asked for it to be well-done which was a big mistake. It was way overcooked and dry. Where do I begin....I went for lunch with my cousin and our spouses on New Year's Eve. Our lunch started out fine but after about 30 mins, the owner, Cheryl , went around the restaurant and demanded to know who owned the white Jeep Grand Cherokee that was parked in the back lot. When we looked up and said that we did , she continued to scold us for parking " in her spot" and that the spot was supposed to have an orange cone set out for her since she had some type of foot or knee surgery. She continued to scold us and then said "have a nice New Year " and rolled away. We were shocked. The spot was not marked and we saw no orange cone. My husband even went back outside to check where we parked just to be sure we didn't park in "her spot" . Cheryl went so far as to place an orange cone in front of our vehicle just to make us feel even worse. I know she did this because she announced what she did to the entire restaurant , for everyone to hear... I am beyond speechless. My husband and I began dating nights at Anthony Jacks before the pandemic and it was fabulous. It was rated 4.3 stars at the time. Now, it is a totally different story. Went there for my birthday. It was such a letdown. I ordered the Rigatoni with chicken and shrimp. The chicken was overcooked and there was hardly any shrimp as I picked through the disappointing dinner entree. My husband had the cranberry chicken entree and it was served in a boat load of oil. So disappointing. The service was ok but we will not be returning :( read more

What a wonderful find! We were visiting a friend in CT ( we live in Cincinnati) and she picked out this restaurant. We all ordered the house burger and when it came we couldn't believe our eyes. I wish I had taken a picture, it was massive! Two of us did not want French Fries so the server (who was wonderful) gave us a large house salad as a side. None of us could eat our complete meal so we all have most it to eat sometime later. Just getting from the parking lot to the restaurant is a "trip In itself." There are large stocks of split hardwood at the back of the building that are burned to give the smoked flavor to the food, and the smell of the burning wood is so strong that you might just feel like you are at a campsite. I love the smell of wood campfires and I teased the server I would like my meal served to me in the parking lot so I could enjoy the smell of the burning wood. I'm surprised Anthony Jack's only had 3.7 stars. I've always had a super consistent experience here. My favorite is cranberry chicken. The sauce with the mashed potatoes...*chef kiss!*. They redid the inside recently and it looks great. Service has always been great - never a complaint. Return again and again whenever we want something we know will be tasty. I wrote a review and took it down after the owner came after me online. But she was so erroneous and inappropriate that I had to put it back up again. For the first time in my 63 years of life, I was kicked out of a restaurant. This was after the owner for reasons that defy reason, left her running vehicle with the radio blaring in a "no parking zone" right in front of her own outdoor diners. Who wants to experience noise and fumes while trying to enjoy a sunny Saturday outside? Why would anyone do that, much less the person who wants their own customers to have a positive experience? Because she was caught red handed, she yelled at us and called us racist because we referred to a person in her employ as "Black." That is not an insult. This was her excuse to kick us out. My companion who is part of a minority in our USA, has experienced a lifetime of discrimination and works hard to help others so they don't have the same experience as he had. I am a public educator who works with students from all across the rainbow. He and I were so deeply shocked and offended to be called such a name. Another reviewer talked about a crazy person at this restaurant. I wonder if its the same woman we dealt with. Shocking stuff happening in Southington. Came here for lunch with a friend recently and the Foodie was phenomenal. I've lived around the corner for quite some time now and haven't really come here for Food. Well I'm glad I did now because it was honestly the best salmon I've ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly. The herbed rice and green beans were also very good. The spinach dip was hot with lots of fresh spinach in it where you could actually taste the freshness. The chips were fried to perfection and were not overly salty. All in all, I cannot wait to go back again and eat this salmon, I think about it everyday. We sat outside, because it was nice weather but the inside it all redone and looks awesome. It's been a while for us since our last time here. It was Cinco De Mayo and we tried the local SW places with no reservations. Yeah, that was a no go. We know Anthony Jacks has been consistently good so we decided to try to get in. It was packed, but we still got seated within a few minutes. Margaritas, perfect. Salads, awesome. Shrimp burritos, excellent! Just ate the left overs, also great! The place always has a comfortable feel. I always think of it as upscale. Ordered takeout this evening and absolutely impressed with service and meal. It's the same as if you ate in the restaurant. The young man who answered the phone was pleasant and was also the one who came out to my car to delivery the food.
