Sake has been a staple in the AYCE sushi scene for many years and maintained a reputation of being great value for its quality. The price went up a few times, but it still falls on the lower end compared to other places with similar menus. FYI: the seating limit has been lowered to 1-hour so you would not be able to get as many rounds in as you previously would have. Turnaround for getting your orders is also quite fast, but my group did go during off-peak hours so your mileage may vary. Rice ratio for the rolls and nigiri, and the fish always tastes fresh. The salmon and eel are definitely must-haves for every visit! The only thing I would personally recommend staying away from is the uni because several friends have complained about the taste of it and realistically, at this price point, it's just incredibly unlikely you're going to be getting good uni. Sake was a lot better and cheaper years ago, but for AYCE, you still really can't beat the prices. $19 lunch for unlimited fish is really not bad, even if the quality of the fish is slightly worse than the other sushi places around the neighborhood. The taste is fine and I've never gotten food poisoning despite coming here over 10 times, so there's that. Spicy salmon roll and anything eel are my favorites and they're consistently good. I really like the appetizers for some reason. From time to time, I randomly crave the crabmeat ravioli, which is basically just a crab rangoon with spicy mayo. It's crispy, light, and surprisingly tastier than American-Chinese restaurants. Their other stuff like gyoza and shumai are as good as the other sushi restaurants around. The salmon and chicken teriyaki are surprisingly pretty good too. I would generally stay away from the noodles though. Miso soup is average. Service is pretty hit or miss, to be honest. The last time I went, they refilled our waters frequently and our food came promptly at a nice pace. Other times were worse, like when it would be really hard to get the waiter's attention or they'd hand us the check when we wanted to order more food. The best all you can eat sushi restaurant ! There is a 2 hour limit but trust me you will be full way before that. I love the crab ravioli, we get it everytime. It is super crispy and tasty. They are small so I recommend ordering a few since only 3 pcs come per order. The mani salad is truly one of the best I have ever had. Yes, Sake Sushi is very reasonably priced for AYCE during lunch, but there's not much else to rave about regarding the restaurant. Sake Sushi has been around for quite a while on 86th Street and troves of customers (mostly high school students) have always come extremely hungry and packed the tiny restaurant to the brim from 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM. For anyone wanting to sit down for lunch here, seats are tough to come by so come early. The AYCE menu for lunch is pretty typical of many AYCE sushi restaurants - many hot and cold appetizers, assorted selection of sushi, multiple sushi rolls, including a few special rolls. No sashimi though. Still, I have to admit, the variety and selection of appetizers, sushi and sushi rolls is quite decent and it's obvious why customers love coming here other than the low price point. As for the sushi, the pieces are small, which is a good thing because no one wants to just stuff their face with rice during an AYCE sit down meal. Typically, most people (at least the economical ones) want to get their money's worth with eating as much fish as possible. However, the sushi taste and flavor is just OK. Nothing about it yells it's very fresh, but they do probably have quite a lot of inventory turnover with the number of customers they have. The same can be said about the appetizers as well. I've tried most of the appetizers and they all have their ups and downs. The fried appetizers are definitely deep fried and come out hot, so you know they just fried it then, but they can be very oily. The cold appetizers are typically prepared at the sushi bar, so they tend to be as "fresh" as can be. What really ruins the dining experience here though is not the food. It's the customer base. About 70-80% of the customers tend to be students and very loud, some more obnoxious than others. I've never had a run in with any of the customers here, but there were definitely times I just wanted to yell "Quiet down!" The level of noise in the restaurant can become deafening with all of the tween/teenage screaming and yelling about random topics you'd never knew existed. I've seen customers playing with their food and daring friends to eat certain foods and spitting it out. At my age, it's basically something I don't need to be around when dining. Sorry to sound like the old fogie, but that's what maturation does. To summarize, although the food is far from appalling, don't get your hopes up when you pass by, see the line out the door and think to give it a try. Ultimately, keep in mind that the popularity of this restaurant has to do more with the pricing, then the quality of the food. Everyone loves AYCE, but if the food isn't that good and the dining experience is going to be ruined by daring contests, is it really worth the price of admission? I always wonder why there are crowded group of people outside the restaurant. All questions answered. It's that all you can eat sushi and tapas lunch for $13.99 and dinner for $18.99. Except a good wait for both lunch and dinner but its definitely worth the wait. We waited about 30 minutes for lunch at 2pm in while their lunch ends at 3:30pm. We've been coming to Sake Sushi regularly for YEARS. We usually come at least a few times a month and it's always fantastic. The food selection is always great and you can eat as much as you want! You mark off the food you want on a list of the menu using a pencil. Lunch is $14 and dinner menu is $20 all you can eat. I'll start with my only complaint and that's the fact that the wait can sometimes be long and the place can get uncomfortably packed. Also the workers there don't always seem to be very happy. The portions are sized perfectly and you can order a bunch of stuff if you have a large group .This is one of the few sushi buffet's that we are loyal to and go go in the area constantly. My fam and i come here all the time for sushi in brooklyn and it is well worth! Cannot beat ayce because my fam is kinda more about the quantity than quality but they do not sacrifice food or taste at all. Best part is the variety of sushi it can be super basic like eel, avocado or handrolls/rolls to special rolls no additional cost. And then you have all the kitchen food including salads, dimsum type dishes or dumplings, noodles, fried rice. Some of our favorites are gyoza, tsumai, udon noodles, fried oysters, clear soup, shrimp fried rice, fish katsu. All small portions and great for sharing, we totally get our moneys worth. Be aware that some of the items are unavailable for lunch such as MY FAVORITE--sashimi appetizer of salmon. I always write in 'please slice thin thanks :)' because i do not like big chunks of salmon sashimi and it is soooo good. You can order this one per person on the table so if you are a party of 2 you get 2 of these max if you have 9 you can get up to 9 sashimi plates of about 8 pieces. Sometimes you may have to reorder food as it may not come out with all the other dishes you ordered but they usually do not forgot or the few times they might, you can kindly just ask for it again or write it on your new order sheet and you will get it eventually. Only issue is soup sometimes if it is not ready and my uncle has waited like 30minutes for it which was concerning esp since it was clear soup which is basically broth. Any issues would be the service. Also about wait time, if you have a big party like us half the time of 9 we either wait mad long or just ask to split the tables up. Sake gets super packed during the dinner rush and on weekends, so I recommend coming here earlier unless you do not mind waiting 30min to an hour or more. If there is a line, you can leave your name and number on the board at the counter. It is definitely not fancy, but it will satisfy any and all sushi cravings. I enjoy the rolls and the appetizers. The teriyaki salmon and beef as well as the beef negimaki are really good. Everyone gets the kani salad and it's good. You can order sashimi as well and it comes with 2 pieces of salmon, tuna, and white tuna. However, you can ask for only tuna or only salmon. The last time I ordered it, I got it with only salmon and the salmon was beautiful. It was glistening and looked like the salmon for sashimi you can get at hmart. Came here after the original place I wanted to go to was closed for dine in. The place was packed with people for lunch so we had to put our name down on a list to get seated. After about 20 minutes we were called to get seated. We were told we only had an hour for the all you can eat lunch. The sushi was pretty good for an all you can eat spot. I don't recommend ordering anything besides sushi and soup and salad because they add a lot of carb and fried stuff to fill you up. We ordered vegetable teriyaki which I thought would be sautéed and was actually tempura fried with sauce on top. The noodles were also pretty good, but the tempura chicken was very chewy and gross. This place was the original spot for all you can eat sushi before the concept became widely popular. Prices are great and it's always packed. Ordering is mostly contactless as you receive multiple slips of the menu and a pen to check off what you want to eat. They take your temperature before seating you and now charge 10% extra on top of your bill due to hard times on small businesses during covid. They do not have a lot of space but they seat every other table to maintain good social distancing. All staff were wearing masks. I came earlier this month and they told me there was a time limit of 1 hr now. Even though it is hard times right now, the food still came out relevantly quick and fresh. This was my first time here and I was honestly not that impressed. My first impression when I walked in was that it was VERY crowded. The tables are so close to each other that people can barely walk through and it seems as if they used up every space in the restaurant. I feel like they need to space out their tables more so diners have more privacy to themselves. As for the food, my friends and I ordered a bunch of rolls and appetizers. For the most part, they were delicious but I can see why it's an All You Can Eat kind of thing because the rolls are small and some lack the appropriate taste according to the roll itself. My wife and I go here every month or so. It is not near where we live, but we like the lunch prices and overall taste of the food. After today, we will not go back. The waiter missed multiple items on our first order. I asked about the kani salad and then they brought it. But when I asked about the chicken tempura and katsu, he never came back with it or gave us a resolution. During the second order, they brought us two items we never even ordered. So I placed a third order with the missing items from the first order, ehich was correct, but then they magically brought some items from the first order too. Sake sushi: Saw that the store front had a huge crowed, so I thought there was no chance for us to get in but I still tried. Went inside to drop down my name and before I place that pen on the sign in sheet, the hostess asked how many and I told him two and was seated right away. All you can eat sushi and Japanese appetizers for lunch is a steal, if you are craving for sushi but don't want to spend a load of amount for special rolls. They give you a piece of paper and you write down the quantity you want for each item. Afterwards you write your name and hand it to the waiter. Please only write the amount you can eat because it does say they will charge you for left overs. Don't waste food. Start with small amounts. Service was quick. Food came flying out in five minutes. There were five sushi chefs and lots of waiters, hence it's in and out for customers fairly quick. I like the fact that there was no waiting issues. I wish they had sashimi for the lunch options. I felt like I ate 5 bowls of rice, since each sushi or rolls are paired with load of rice. To be honest, if you are looking for QUALITY sushi, this place is not what you are looking for. BUT, if you are looking to satisfy those random sushi cravings that a person normally gets, uhhh best place for it! Just a simple run down, if you're from Manhattan, take the D train to Bay Parkway and it's a 5 minute walk from the station. Probably the easiest way to get their if you are nowhere near the location of the buffet. In terms of getting a seat, they do reservations over phone, but during holidays, they won't take it obviously because of the holiday season. It's $12.95 For dinner, there are more different rolls and a little more add-ons from the finger foods.
