How do you begin to describe some of the best sushi that I have ever enjoyed? I love sushi and have driven to Marin and SF frequently just because I wanted good sushi. Napa has always been hit & miss when it comes to sushi. The brothers had a pretty good sushi place on Coombs St, tucked around the corner off First, but it is long gone. The sushi bar in the Town Center off Freeway Drive was okay most of the time, but nothing that would motivate me to sit down and write a review. If you have not figured it out by now, great food is more than a passion it is my heritage, it pump through my body like blood. I have been here most of my 75 years and have seen a lot of restaurants come & go. Places I have loved, "The Diner" in Yountville, "El Diner" in the evening, then Nicky's opened a wonderful place "Pearl" on of course Pearl Street. Bistro Don Giovanni, when I crave a wonderful lamb shank, hard to beat what Donna & her chefs create. I had stopped by yesterday to have a look, needless to say I was impressed. The smell of fresh fish filled my senses the moment I walked in. Going home I knew I had to go back and confirm what I was feeling. I knocked on the door of my neighbor & friend, she is a Air Force Commander, pescetarian, mostly vegetarian and has enjoyed Sushi all over the world. I did not have to ask twice. We started with wakame salad, I do not even know how to describe it?Only to say it was the best I have ever tasted and I love wakame salad, I could have made a entire meal out of the salad it was so good & portions were large. Next BBQ oysters which were good but not what I expected, 8 breaded/deep fried with a really tasty sauce on the side The juices literally ran from the first bite, so fresh, you would have to go to Nik's Cove where you can get them right off the boat to have sweeter fresh oysters. We then had a couple of pieces of negri, (Salmon & octopus) fresh and filled my mouth with joy lighting up all of my taste buds. If I had any criticism it would be the negri slices while adequate were small. She choose a California Roll and I chose a spider roll, I will never pass a spider roll is my go to favorite bar none. They have a choice of all you can eat fixed price or individual pricing, we did not think we were that hungry, so we choose individual. At this point we were certainly full but everything had been so good we decided to have one more roll and let the waiter choose what he felt would be the finally. OMG! He brought out a Mt Fugi roll that was huge by any standard. If there was ever a narrative of eyes be larger than stomach, this was it. All I can say is it was over the top and delicious. It probably knocked spider roll off my go to list? It certainly tied it. I can not finish this review without a something about the staff. From the moment we walked through the door we were treated like their favorite customer. They saw us to a table that was quite near the back since I have a 64 lb Springer Spaniel Service Dog that graces my life and is always at my side. They immediately brought him a bowl of water, without my needing to ask. The staff was there without being intrusive the entire evening. I am reluctant to post this review, more people will discover this wonderful sushi restaurant and without question it will be harder to get a table. Sake is a new AYCE sushi spot in Napa and it's really amazing! I have quite low standards for AYCE sushi, but Sake really raises the bar. Each person is allowed to order 2 items from each section which is quite generous! The servers were kind. They would also clean off our table often. The only hard part was trying to get the attention of a server to order more rounds. The fish is really good quality for AYCE. The rice to fish ratio is great. And their food is just overall yummy! My absolute favorites were the seared salmon and salmon belly nigiri. They were amazing! My least favorite was the pepper fin. I'm not sure if they made a mistake but instead of ponzu like the menu states, we got unagi sauce on ours. So it wasn't our fave due to the overwhelming amount of sauce on it. read more

I used don't like AYCE sushi because usually the stores served low grade sashimi and service were always hit and miss. But Sake lifted up the standard. The sashimi are fresh and the food was served quick and with nice presentation. They have a wide variety to pick from hot dishes to sushi rolls to sashimi. Everything is delicious. We checked in on Waitlist on Yelp about 15min before arriving. We waited about 10min and then were seated. They even let us move to a different table so we could see the TVs better for the World Cup game. Service was really good! We got waters immediately and then probably went through a total of 6 different orders of all you can eat sushi. There were also servers stopping by to clear our plates or take a new order. There didn't appear to be a limit on orders...we took advantage of that! We also got free refills on sodas and our waters kept filled. There were lots of people customers and tables but I felt like the three of us were very well taken care of. Their servers were booking it around the restaurant! Very friendly too! Food was delicious. Sashimi was super fresh. They had a more unique selection of rolls than your typical sushi restaurant. Found a great AYCE sushi place in a Napa strip mall. Service was quick and we were checked on repeatedly for beverage service and made to order items from the menu. Everything is included with no uncharges. There are a good amount of rolls to choose from, appetizer assortment, nigiri with not too much rice, hand rolls, and sashimi. Great AYCE sushi. One thing to note is you pre-order e.g how many slices of fish or Nigir for Sashimi. I tend to order by two of each i wanted to try and you can order again. My husband and took a slow approach of ordering some salad and appetizers and one roll(8 pieces). 2nd time a few more different Sashimi, hamachi kama(1 order per person so not unlimited) and 1 roll. 3rd order same but with soft shell crab. You dont want to waste as they will charge you but also why waste food as my nanay would remind me. 90mins is a time limit so no super slow eating . Worth the price as you get a lot and different choices. A big group allows you to try different rolls but with just two of us we kept it to two rolls while ordering a lot of Sashimi and nigiris. Sashimi was fresh. The rolls and selections were extensive. Has some different from the pinole location like salmon skin salad, seared tuna Sashimi, green tea ice cream, Hamachi kama (don't remember if pinole has this one). Salmon Skin Salad. This is such a great addition to Napa. There isn't any AYCE sushi places close by unless you go to Fairfield or Vacaville or Concord so this is perfect for us American Canyon/Napa folks. The sashimi and the nigiri is so fresh and buttery. I love how the presentation of the sashimi is on par with higher end sushi establishments. That special touch does not go unnoticed. They also have way more selection than other AYCE sushi spots such as fried rice, short ribs, teriyaki, and they also have an extensive appetizer and salad menu. The service is great, the food comes out quick and you get ice cream for dessert! I feel the price is worth it and I've gone here 4 times since they opened. I saw this place on Yelp and thought I must be misunderstanding what I'm reading. AYCE sashimi and it looks like this ?! I was not mislead. You CAN get bowl after bowl after bowl of fresh sashimi for $40 a person. Coming from Reno (which seems to be the birthplace of AYCE sushi) we always felt we could be ok with the lower quality sushi because it was THE only way to profitably do AYCE. We were wrong! Every piece was just as delicious (or more!) than the last. This seemed to be more of a locals spot than a tourist trap. We recommend going around 5 or 5:30 to avoid the crowd and the wait. We did get one roll. It was tasty. It had a lot less rice than we were used to which my husband loved but I could have added a little more rice. If you're not in to raw food but still want to join your friends then this is feasible here! Lots of udon, teriyaki, katsu, fried rice, and other appetizers. If you're in it for the cooked sushi, this is probably not the place to go. Loved the Takoyaki! So gooey and octopus was not too chewy. My only con was that I couldn't find a changing table.. I didn't know it was legal to not provide one, but honestly for the price and the fish quality it didn't bother me at all to go change the baby in the car and come back to eat more. I'm assuming given it's Napa there are higher end options, but for much higher prices and probably way more formal. Sake is much more of a casual place, which is exactly what we wanted. I ate sashimi, an order of vegetable tempura, avocado salad and a seaweed salad (should have added tobiko on top of both of these. Lemon salmon roll and a sakura roll. Both delicious. After my wife and her friends had a excellent dining experience, she wanted to bring us. Unfortunately, we didn't get the same me. In her first experience, she went during the week around 5pm. She says they weren't too busy so food came out in a timely manner and food came out consistently cooked the same way. When we went, it was a Saturday around 6pm. Wait was about 40 min. Staff are very friendly. Unfortunately, our food took a long to come or it never came. In our first order, we ordered a handful of items. Half came in about 10 minutes and the half never came. After 30mins, we followed up a second time and they said it was probably served to a different table by mistake. Most of the food we ordered were good like the sashimi, nigiri, vegetable tempura and hamachi. The hibachi beef was good but when we ordered a second, it was overcooked. The hibachi shrimp was very salty that we couldn't eat it. The vegetable tempura was good and crispy. However, the shrimp tempura was not crispy. The beef fried rice was oily. Considering it's a soft opening, there's definitely room for improvement. Be patient on weekends or if they're really busy. Sake All You Can Eat in Napa exceeded my expectations! I checked in on the Yelp waitlist before arriving, and as soon as I got there, we were seated right away with no wait. The food came out incredibly fast, and the quality was exceptional from start to finish. One thing I really appreciated was that they serve full specialty rolls without loading them up with rice, and the nigiri had a great fish-to-rice ratio too. Some of my favorites were the beef teriyaki, salmon lover roll, yellowtail jalapeño, salmon belly nigiri, and the ikura. The standout for me was the hamachi--it was unbelievably fresh, and each slice was huge, almost the size of my hand! I came to Sake during their first week, and our group of 3 came around 5:00pm and were seated about 15-20min after arriving - by the time we left around 7pm there seemed to be a pretty long line of people waiting. The space is clean, but not too decorated or fancy - which is fine by me, because the fish is excellent! Service was pretty good for how busy they were - we were able to find someone to place an order relatively easily throughout out time there, and everything we ordered came out as ordered except for 2 salads we never ended up getting. Do note some things do take longer to come out, like the hamachi kama. We tried a lot of different things, but the standouts were the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi and the seared nigiri. The seaweed handrolls and the maki rolls is kind of soggy, which made them hard to eat, and I think I'd generally stay away from things that involve the sushi. The rice in the nigiri was surprisingly good, not mushy or overly seasoned. The fish was of great quality, though we did notice that throughout our time there the cut of tuna/salmon would be different (i.e. sometimes a more fatty vs a more lean cut of the fish), which is understandable given how much fish they must be going through - just a note in case you're picky about what cut of sashimi you get. We tried some appetizers, including the edamame, the takoyaki, and the hamachi kama, and these were all pretty good. The sashimi specials at the end of the menu were also good, but I'll definitely be back for the sashimi and nigiri! read more

Came here on their soft opening after our friend had visited and recommended that we try it too! It was a little past peak lunch hour, but there was still a waiting room full of people in a steady trickle of folks coming in to put their name down on the list for a table. Once we were seated at our table, we were quickly brought drinks, and our orders were taken. The food came out quickly. The presentation was beautiful. The fish was very fresh. We enjoyed the sashimi and a number of rolls. We tried the egg rolls and the agedashi tofu, which were both disappointing. However, stirfry udon and tempura and fried rice were all good. It was a bit hard to flag down a server to place additional food orders but that may just be due to the new staff adjusting. The service was very polite and we did not feel rushed at all, but the speed at which the orders were coming out of the kitchen slowed to a crawl around mid afternoon. We suspected maybe it was break time for some of the kitchen staff. In any case, all in all, this was a good experience and we will certainly be back! Was genuinely impressed that a sushi place like this could exist in Napa! As we visited during their soft opening, the wait was about 35 minutes for a table for 3. They limited the seating to ensure that their service wouldn't be affected. I'm so glad that they did. The staff is very welcoming and was very attentive. To the point that they would try to anticipate what you need. An example of that is my daughter asking me for an extra napkin. As I was trying to flag down our server, she had already picked up some napkins for us as she said she overheard our daughter! The staff encouraged us to order to our hearts desire. We tried to try as many different items there from the appetizers, rolls, items on the grill, to the sashimi. What we enjoyed the most was the fact that the sashimi was fresh! Nothing smelled or tasted fishy at all! Even the salmon which typically has some sort of fishy taste did not taste fishy. Don't miss the hamachi collar and the short ribs! They do take a while to arrive but well worth the wait. The collar is cooked perfectly. Crispy exterior and moist inside with a good bite. The short ribs were so soft, seasoned and cooked properly. The place was clean and laid out well giving everyone enough space. Restrooms were also clean. Plenty of parking outside and enough room in the waiting area for parties waiting. I went back to Sake two weeks after my previous visit and it was definitely better! While I went earlier in the day before noon, service was excellent with the only blip being that the Teriyaki Salmon took around 20 minutes to arrive while the other appetizers took about half that time or less - the server did thank me for waiting for what it's worth. I also felt the Salmon appetizer portion was noticeably small for something that took so long to come out, so if you want to have a more substantial portion of that or the other Shrimp, Beef, or Chicken Teriyaki or Hibachi plates, I'd probably recommend ordering 2 or more of it. I asked for no soy sauce on the sushi rice this time which they happily obliged on and found the rice to be a lot better and not warm like the previous visit. I admittedly still have had better sushi rice elsewhere, but it definitely is serviceable here. Most importantly though, the fish flavor was as delicious and fresh as last time. One minor but noticeable disappointment was that they were still out of the Green Tea Ice Cream dessert 2 weeks after my first visit, I hope at some point I'll be able to have it! That being said, I tried their Genmaicha Roasted Rice Green Tea and found it to be super fragrant. I love my Green Tea and this was delightful! The things I'd really like to see are Sashimi available at lunch time on the weekdays without having to pay $40, an option of Chirashi (a bowl of sushi rice with the fish on top almost like Sashimi), and possibly a senior or child discount which I know other buffets offer. Sake in Napa used to be a Carl's Jr. so do not expect tatami rooms and shoji screens. AYCE doesn't mean a buffet in warming trays here. Each dish is prepared and brought to you. That said, I came here on Sunday with my daughter to try this new restaurant in Napa. The menu has a good selection of many types of dishes, both hot and cold. Depending on the item, there will be be 2-3 pieces (ex: shrimp tempura, veg tempura, nigiri). Sashimi is by the piece so you can order one or several. I was especially impressed with the presentation of the sashimi. If you like what you order, order it again. Empty dishes did not stack on the table. Someone was always coming around to take them away. Sake is casual, a place to bring the family, good, and my daughter said "yummy" (as she had 21 pieces of sashimi herself). In town for our girls trip and craving some sushi. As we are passing by we notice the sign of soft opening. These are solely my thoughts on what my friends and I experienced. I highly recommend while waiting to be seated to write down on your phone what items to order so you're not rushing. It was super busy when we arrived so writing down what we wanted made the order easier for us and the waiter as soon as we were seated. We mainly love the Nigiri and Sashimi section so we ordered from the Sashimi section ( Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel and White tuna) "ALL" were presented elegantly and delicious. Next we had Nigiri which we ordered ( Octopus, Seared Salmon, Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail) "ALL" were fantastic and the portion of the rice was the right amount. We ordered 3 kinds of sushi but we only enjoyed the Himachi roll which is number 67 I believe. Simple but has good flavor. The Lion King has cream cheese which I particularly do not enjoy cream cheese in sushi. Please please order the Habachi Kama early and wait 20 minutes. If the waiter doesn't bring it out, I advise you ask them because we thought they forgot because it took so long, but they ended up bringing it out last minute and we were too full to eat it. Baked mussels is a bit different but it's tasty and creamy. Miso soup is delicious with a hint of toasted seaweed. Beef galbi is soooo delicious and is a must try. Oysters is good and Shrimp Tempura as well. Calamari is a must try too. Plenty of parking, spacious and clean. Staff were friendly considering it was busy for their diner rush. Mina was great!! In my opinion, all-you-can-eat and sushi usually don't go well together for restaurants. I'm very suspicious of the quality of raw fish when they offer all you can eat. Sake is an exception to that concept, with excellent options for specialty rolls and appetizers, and a surprisingly high quality & quantity of their sashimi servings (especially of our favorite - ahi / tuna). Choices are made to order (vs sitting on a buffet table). The weekday lunches are the best value, but their prices for dinner and the weekend probably still beats what you would get a la carte at a typical sushi place. We've tried a few AYCE sushi spots in NorCal and this is the best we found in the Napa-Solano county areas. read more

I'm always cautious about places where you can do "all-you-can-eat" because the quality can be questionable. That was not the case here. This place serves quality sushi in a clean, comfortable environment. Upon entering, we were greeted and immediately seated for a large party. We had roughly 12 people in our party. The servers were on top of things, refilling drinks and coming back to take orders. There were people there but nothing so crowded that it was uncomfortable. I had a few new rolls that I had never tried before and of course I had the baked salmon roll which was the crème de la crème for me! Went to Sake today for the first time on my only day off and it was a mix of emotions. It was my girlfriend and I's first date in a while and i honestly wish we went somewhere else. Dont get me wrong, the food was incredible, but the service was so bad that the it left a sour taste in our mouth. For an all you can eat place, I have never ever had to wait I kid you not 35 min to be asked how the food was/ order another round. There was many moments where servers would grab our empty plates look at us and leave us alone for another 10-15 minutes. For a lunch all you can eat that it was limited to 90 minutes i am appalled and felt scammed knowing we didnt even probably get the dollar equivalent of what we paid for. the king kong roll was pretty fire but wont be coming back again. read more

Outstanding! The quality of fish, the variety of plates and freshness of each dish left us holding out full bellies as we left. All you can eat sushi, that can cater to allergies is such a big plus for us since my husband can't have avocado. I've been to many places that won't even give you an option. From specialty rolls to nigiri and even sashimi there's no limit which is such a big plus! Service is so quick and staff is very friendly and anyone is willing to grab you another order when your ready! The resturant it's self was very clean and well decorated with Japanese style art which was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Woohoo! I am so happy they decided to open an AYCE sushi in Napa. We tried the restaurant Saturday around 6pm and joined the waitlist. The wait was around 30 minutes, which I expected since it's a new place on a Saturday. We were seated and were quickly greeted and brought water. There is no set server for the table they are all just walking around and taking orders which could be a bit chaotic at times. But, we were able to place 3 rounds when we needed to. (Suggestion for ordering AYCE - make sure to know what you want and place a big first round to start so that you don't need to continually stop the servers). The food came out pretty quickly and the presentation of the dishes were all great. The quality of the fish and hot foods were 10/10 and absolutely no complaints. I love that you can order sashimi and when you order a roll/nigiri they do not bulk on the rice. Also big kudos to the servers too they were all nonstop moving around the floor ensuring to get to each table. Hopefully they keep the great momentum and quality up to par as I would love to come back again! read more
