Japanese AYCE usually have lower quality of food, but not this one. This place allows unlimited orders of fresh sashimi and offers a good variety of cold and cooked dishes. We ordered salmon/yellowtail/tuna sashimi, scallop/seared salmon/tuna/raw shrimp/ikira nigiri, hamachi kama, tuna tartare, yellowtail jalapeño, salmon lover, fried oyster, fried calamari, soft shell crab, tonkatsu, spider roll, salmon avocado roll, and more. Free ice cream as well. Drinks cost extra. Adults $40. Kids have discounts. On Sundays around 6:30pm, the wait was roughly 30 minutes for a party of 6. This place is currently in soft opening phase. Hopefully the quality of the food and the generous selections will sustain.

I saw this place on Yelp and thought I must be misunderstanding what I'm reading. AYCE sashimi and it looks like this ?! I was not mislead. You CAN get bowl after bowl after bowl of fresh sashimi for $40 a person. Coming from Reno (which seems to be the birthplace of AYCE sushi) we always felt we could be ok with the lower quality sushi because it was THE only way to profitably do AYCE. We were wrong! Every piece was just as delicious (or more!) than the last. This seemed to be more of a locals spot than a tourist trap. We recommend going around 5 or 5:30 to avoid the crowd and the wait. We did get one roll. It was tasty. It had a lot less rice than we were used to which my husband loved but I could have added a little more rice. If you're not in to raw food but still want to join your friends then this is feasible here! Lots of udon, teriyaki, katsu, fried rice, and other appetizers. If you're in it for the cooked sushi, this is probably not the place to go. Loved the Takoyaki! So gooey and octopus was not too chewy. My only con was that I couldn't find a changing table.. I didn't know it was legal to not provide one, but honestly for the price and the fish quality it didn't bother me at all to go change the baby in the car and come back to eat more. I'm assuming given it's Napa there are higher end options, but for much higher prices and probably way more formal. Sake is much more of a casual place, which is exactly what we wanted. We will be back!

My friends and I came here for lunch when they first opened. The restaurant is a good size, and they can accompany large groups. The lunch menu has so many dishes to choose from. I really enjoyed the Jalapeno bomb and sakura roll. The Godzilla and spicy tuna rolls were great. Everything we ordered was tasty. The staff are very helpful and attentive. They were pretty busy and managed to check on us pretty often. I plan on returning for dinner time to try sashimi since it's not included during lunch time.

Great sashimi options and fish quality. I was surprised they had salmon belly and sweet shrimp. Terrible service. I had to flag the waitress down every time I wanted to order. Several items did not come out so i reordered but they still did not come. After requesting the order several times and waiting 45 minutes, we finally received them.

After my wife and her friends had a excellent dining experience, she wanted to bring us. Unfortunately, we didn't get the same me. In her first experience, she went during the week around 5pm. She says they weren't too busy so food came out in a timely manner and food came out consistently cooked the same way. When we went, it was a Saturday around 6pm. Wait was about 40 min. Staff are very friendly. Unfortunately, our food took a long to come or it never came. In our first order, we ordered a handful of items. Half came in about 10 minutes and the half never came. After 30mins, we followed up a second time and they said it was probably served to a different table by mistake. Most of the food we ordered were good like the sashimi, nigiri, vegetable tempura and hamachi. The hibachi beef was good but when we ordered a second, it was overcooked. The hibachi shrimp was very salty that we couldn't eat it. The vegetable tempura was good and crispy. However, the shrimp tempura was not crispy. The beef fried rice was oily. Considering it's a soft opening, there's definitely room for improvement. Be patient on weekends or if they're really busy. We'll probably come back when they're more settled to see if it's changed.

Dined in on a weekend during the first week of the grand opening so there were a few kinks including some mix up orders with other tables. Service was attentive and nice. The fish is super fresh. I particularly enjoyed the sashimi along with the presentation. Sushi rolls were smaller with not too much rice. Miso soup could've been hotter. Great variety of options with good quality food, especially for an Ayce! I've also had their party takeout tray which was $65. It was fresh and delicious with a nice variety of rolls and nigiri.

I came to Sake during their first week, and our group of 3 came around 5:00pm and were seated about 15-20min after arriving - by the time we left around 7pm there seemed to be a pretty long line of people waiting. The space is clean, but not too decorated or fancy - which is fine by me, because the fish is excellent! Service was pretty good for how busy they were - we were able to find someone to place an order relatively easily throughout out time there, and everything we ordered came out as ordered except for 2 salads we never ended up getting. Do note some things do take longer to come out, like the hamachi kama. We tried a lot of different things, but the standouts were the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi and the seared nigiri. The seaweed handrolls and the maki rolls is kind of soggy, which made them hard to eat, and I think I'd generally stay away from things that involve the sushi. The rice in the nigiri was surprisingly good, not mushy or overly seasoned. The fish was of great quality, though we did notice that throughout our time there the cut of tuna/salmon would be different (i.e. sometimes a more fatty vs a more lean cut of the fish), which is understandable given how much fish they must be going through - just a note in case you're picky about what cut of sashimi you get. We tried some appetizers, including the edamame, the takoyaki, and the hamachi kama, and these were all pretty good. The sashimi specials at the end of the menu were also good, but I'll definitely be back for the sashimi and nigiri!

I went back to Sake two weeks after my previous visit and it was definitely better! While I went earlier in the day before noon, service was excellent with the only blip being that the Teriyaki Salmon took around 20 minutes to arrive while the other appetizers took about half that time or less - the server did thank me for waiting for what it's worth. I also felt the Salmon appetizer portion was noticeably small for something that took so long to come out, so if you want to have a more substantial portion of that or the other Shrimp, Beef, or Chicken Teriyaki or Hibachi plates, I'd probably recommend ordering 2 or more of it. I asked for no soy sauce on the sushi rice this time which they happily obliged on and found the rice to be a lot better and not warm like the previous visit. I admittedly still have had better sushi rice elsewhere, but it definitely is serviceable here. Most importantly though, the fish flavor was as delicious and fresh as last time. One minor but noticeable disappointment was that they were still out of the Green Tea Ice Cream dessert 2 weeks after my first visit, I hope at some point I'll be able to have it! That being said, I tried their Genmaicha Roasted Rice Green Tea and found it to be super fragrant. I love my Green Tea and this was delightful! The things I'd really like to see are Sashimi available at lunch time on the weekdays without having to pay $40, an option of Chirashi (a bowl of sushi rice with the fish on top almost like Sashimi), and possibly a senior or child discount which I know other buffets offer. I had the following and barely finished it because it was so much food: Appetizers Miso Soup Pan Fried Gyoza Fried Cheese Wontons Teriyaki Salmon Nigiri Sushi: 6 Yellowtail 6 Tamago 6 Mackerel 3 Tuna 3 Salmon 3 Albacore

Came here on their soft opening after our friend had visited and recommended that we try it too! It was a little past peak lunch hour, but there was still a waiting room full of people in a steady trickle of folks coming in to put their name down on the list for a table. Once we were seated at our table, we were quickly brought drinks, and our orders were taken. The food came out quickly. The presentation was beautiful. The fish was very fresh. We enjoyed the sashimi and a number of rolls. We tried the egg rolls and the agedashi tofu, which were both disappointing. However, stirfry udon and tempura and fried rice were all good. It was a bit hard to flag down a server to place additional food orders but that may just be due to the new staff adjusting. The service was very polite and we did not feel rushed at all, but the speed at which the orders were coming out of the kitchen slowed to a crawl around mid afternoon. We suspected maybe it was break time for some of the kitchen staff. In any case, all in all, this was a good experience and we will certainly be back! Napa really needed a good casual Japanese restaurant serving good quality fish and the fact that this is AYCE at a reasonable price is fantastic!

For a soft opening they did pretty good with the massive waitlist at their door. Roughly between up to an hour wait on a busy night. Had 3 guys working the sushi bar for a full house! They did their best with the huge crowd. Was pleasantly impressed with the sashimi! Fresh slices and just melted. So good! Had a good laugh when they would use such a huge plate for one piece of sashimi so better to order multiple when choosing the sashimi. They do put on the menu one slice per sashimi but you can order multiple. Friendly owners and the staff super patient and friendly. They do what they can to change the vibe to a AYCE versus the Carls Jr. set up.

In town for our girls trip and craving some sushi. As we are passing by we notice the sign of soft opening. These are solely my thoughts on what my friends and I experienced. I highly recommend while waiting to be seated to write down on your phone what items to order so you're not rushing. It was super busy when we arrived so writing down what we wanted made the order easier for us and the waiter as soon as we were seated. We mainly love the Nigiri and Sashimi section so we ordered from the Sashimi section ( Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel and White tuna) "ALL" were presented elegantly and delicious. Next we had Nigiri which we ordered ( Octopus, Seared Salmon, Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail) "ALL" were fantastic and the portion of the rice was the right amount. We ordered 3 kinds of sushi but we only enjoyed the Himachi roll which is number 67 I believe. Simple but has good flavor. The Lion King has cream cheese which I particularly do not enjoy cream cheese in sushi. Please please order the Habachi Kama early and wait 20 minutes. If the waiter doesn't bring it out, I advise you ask them because we thought they forgot because it took so long, but they ended up bringing it out last minute and we were too full to eat it. Baked mussels is a bit different but it's tasty and creamy. Miso soup is delicious with a hint of toasted seaweed. Beef galbi is soooo delicious and is a must try. Oysters is good and Shrimp Tempura as well. Calamari is a must try too. Plenty of parking, spacious and clean. Staff were friendly considering it was busy for their diner rush. Mina was great!! We plan on stopping by again when in town.

Came here during their soft opening. Really impressed with the quality and taste of their food. You got to try the Hamachi Kama and try some of that sauce that comes with it. Super yummy. The great thing about this AYCE place is sashimi is included. Definitely got my money's worth. I also liked how ice cream is included with the meal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They came to check up on us and asked if we wanted to order more. This is also great for big parties. The inside is spacious and everything is clean. If you're around the Bay, you know about Fuji's. This place is way better than Fuji's.

They've been open four days now and I've already been twice, it's that good. I've been waiting for an AYCE sushi spot to open in Napa for DECADES, and I'm so happy Sake finally took the plunge! I know Napa can be hit or miss for most restaurants, but Sake is doing it the right way. Away from downtown, and more geared to locals. There was about a 15-minute wait the second time I went, and I suspect that will be the case every day from now on. Super fresh sashimi and rolls, original options and a big menu, plus it's affordable! $26 AYCE for lunch, and $40 AYCE for dinner? That is unheard of for sushi in Napa! That will get you just 1-2 rolls in Napa at other sushi spots, and lately the other options are either just okay, or very expensive, or both. Even during their busy soft-opening weekend, the service at Sake was fairly quick when we wanted it, and very friendly, and we didn't feel rushed or ignored at all. My kids loved it, (and it was only $12.99 for them!) plus a small, grab-your-own-ice-cream-out-of-the-freezer is included, which was fun for my kids, and just the perfect amount. Not fancy, but really, really good, family-friendly, and affordable. We'll be there once a week for sure!

As such, it was extremely noisy and you could see that couples on dates had a hard time even talking to one another, and eventually just stopped. I could barely hear my wife talking next to me. Most of the servers would even have to lean in to hear the orders. As for the food, nothing really stood out. We ordered a large variety as we were a group of 10 eating family style and nothing really stood out. The quality of the food I would say was akin to fast food or mall food court level, but you're paying 3 times as much. The price belied the food quality. For example, 3 small pieces of ribs as an appetizer for more than $30, I'd expect it to be uniquely spiced, flavorful and juicy, but it was rather dry and tasted as like sauce from Panda Express. Their Wagyu beef carpaccio had too many strong flavors so the taste of the beef itself was lost. Heck, it didn't even really have the notable creamy-like texture that wagyu was supposed to have either (likely a lower grade of wagyu, probably somewhere between USDA Choice and Prime). A lot of their items feel gimmicky too: the unagi clay pot came with some seaweed, a seaweed holder, and two small bottles of sauces. The sauces were bland and contributed nothing to the dish. Making your own "hand rolls" with the seaweed did nothing for this dish other than get your hands dirty. I've watched enough Iron Chef back in the day to understand that this is very Morimoto, as he tries to make the dishes fun. The unagi itself was quite nice, though it might be my personal bias. The Halibut we got was overcooked and dry. Yes halibut is a firmer meat, but man this was hard to eat. The best dish was likely the Ishiyaki Buri Bop, which came with some tables idea theatrics. Nevertheless, for the price, you could do much better at a place like Kunjip Tofu in the bay. Overall, a bad experience. Based on the price point, I thought we'd be getting better food and better ambience, but it was overall mediocre - a blemish on the Morimoto name.

We stayed at Andaz Napa for one night before Christmas to celebrate our Anniversary, and we booked Kenzo Napa for the dinner and it was walkable distance from the hotel. Kenzo Napa was established by Kenzo Tsujimoto in 2016, and received Michelin 1 star in 2018, and every year ever since. The price for Kaiseki is $295 per person, and my husband ordered the Omakase Pairing $197 and I got a bottle of Aoki Shuzo, "Yuki Otoko" Junmai, Niigata $40 to pair with the set. 2021 Suzu First glass of the omakase pairing is the sparking rose. This is made with 54% Malbec, 37% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, with the smell of strawberry and blood orange. Cauliflower Chawanmushi The first dish is chawanmushi, with ginger, snow crab, etc. 2024 asatsuyu The second glass of the omakase pairing was the Sauvignon Blanc. The name is from Japanese meaning morning dew. Seasonal Hassun The second dish is the seasonal hassun, which is the traditional Japanese appetizer. Five different small dishes including the lotus root dumpling with bottarga, ehime bluefin tuna, shiso leaves rolled angel shrimp, Japanese yam with Italian caviar, and Hokkaido scallop with persimmon with peanuts. Sawahime Yamahai Junmai Third glass of the omakase pairing is the Junmai with the aromas of gardenia, ripe kiwi, papaya, green peppercorn, aged comte cheese. Yamaguchi Tilefish Owan This one is our favorite dish of the day! Very fresh and refreshing, with fish and vegetable and mushroom. Midorikawa Daiginjo The fourth glass of the pairing has a great hint of spice but elegant at the same time. Oita Sea Bream Sashimi The fourth dishes is the sashimi, paired with ponzu sesame shoyu. 2023 yui Rosé This Rosé was made with 65% Malbec, 26% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. The wine has great berry aroma and spices. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Jibuni The seventh course is the A5 wagyu beef steak. Cut into bite sizes, with mushrooms and veggies. Daishichi Minowamon This sake has a strong smell of berry, banana, and pear. Velvety and buttery. Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Ikura and Mediterranean Bluefin Tuna Sushi Bowl served with red miso soup One of my favorite Japanese seafood bowl! Chef's Featured Desserts Three different desserts was great too. It has a goji berry panna cotta and fried spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and also a berry ice cream with caramelized walnut.
