Was offered a sample of the chicken and hubby and I decided to try the teriyaki chicken plates with noodles, rice, and veggies. Before we got our food, the cook greeted us. We received our food and began to dig in. Minutes later, we had finished everything. Loved the food and will definitely come back again!

    Japanese Fried Chicken

Located in Tyler's food court, next to Panda. The Japanese fried chicken is cooked very nicely. It's akin to popcorn chicken. They cut it bite-sized so the pieces of chicken are easy to eat, crispy, and juicy inside. The spicy mayo sauce is a little watered down and very thin. But the chicken is seasoned nicely and has its flavor. Self-service order and beware, the machine asks for a tip after you place your order. Ambiance is consistent of any other food court within a mall. Plenty of seats.

The food is pretty good and I came closet to when they were first open. I would say the service was pretty good, but nothing really stood out. There is something missing that would just really make it sing but it's a good overall teriyaki chicken dish. It's in the mall so the ambiance is very casual.

Went to order food here and saw this cockroach run through and hide in the food area! I brought it up to the employee and they simply brushed me off and said who cares, this is disgusting!!!

The sushi was delicious and practically melted in my mouth. The rolls are a bit on the smaller side; usually one roll fills me up, but here I had to order two. I also really enjoyed the miso soup. The edamame was good, though a little too salty for my liking. Customer Service 5/5 Customer service was excellent! Our waitress was super friendly and welcoming, and I loved that she gave great recommendations. She really knew the menu, which is always a plus and so helpful when ordering, especially at a new spot. Loved, loved, loved it! Ambience 5/5 I was shopping at the thrift store next door and never expected the inside of this place to be so nice. It's a hidden little gem, the interior is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully put together! Cleanliness 5/5 Super clean during my visit ! Wait Time 5/5 We were seated immediately, and since it wasn't busy at first, our food arrived quickly. Once it got a bit busier, the wait was longer, but still completely reasonable. Cost 4/5 It was a bit on the pricey side for the portion size, but considering the quality and flavor, it was understandable. Just keep in mind that rolls are around $20 each. Appetizers, like the spicy edamame, are $10, the miso soup was $4, and extras are listed on the back of the menu for an additional charge.

The restaurant is located in an older lot, next to another older Asian restaurant. But when you walk in, it's beautiful. Service is also good. Upon entering all give you a warm Japanese greeting. We ordered the muscles, cucumber salad, veggie tempura, spicy tuna over crispy rice, and teriyaki chicken bento box. The presentation for all of the food we ordered was beautiful and neat. All were good but the muscles and the cucumber salad were my favs. Omg! The muscles! I loved the flavor. I loved how they delicately cut the muscles so that you get a piece of muscle in every bite. I know cucumber salad sounds simple...but they cut the cucumbers nice and thin with a mandolin and the vinaigrette was just light and fresh! It was so good! Only downside is the price. It's pretty pricey...$8 for the cucumber salad and $29 for the bento box and this was lunch. But all the food was good at least! It would be different if it did not taste good. Will be back again!

Anyway... After perusing through the menu, which had quite a few blacked out items (black tape applied over the menu item) we both decided on the Tonkatsu Spicy Black Ramen Noodles as well a the Crispy Fried Rice appetizer... the appetizer was delivered but I had to request some small individual plates so that we could eat off of our own plate, rather than reaching over trying to share the same plate and making a mess on the table... no worries, small oversight (or so I thought at the time)... Next came the Ramen... Looked very appetizing, but again I had to get up and request a couple of soup spoons... went to dig in, and while the bottom of the bowl was warm, the broth itself was quite cold... after calling over the waitress and asking them to please reheat (even if they had to use the microwave)... the waitress took it back to the "open" kitchen and they used the microwave to reheat... The bowls were returned and as we started to eat, satisfied that the broth was indeed hot, we noticed a couple of items missing: the corn - no corn in the broth like it was described... in addition to that, no Wood Eared Mushrooms were in the broth either... the wood eared mushrooms set the "black" apart from the standard ramen and cost $.50 more per serving... when questioned about it, the hostess informed us that they didn't have any mushrooms... as a consolation, she offered us one of the "extra price" toppings in place if it... we opted for the tofu... a bowl of tofu pieces came out and although they appeared to have steam coming off of it, the tofu was cold as well... smh... The hostess returned them to to kitchen to be reheated... We received a 10% discount ($4.90 of of a $49 bill)... Not sure if they're going to make it with this level of service and food quality... Good Luck!

SAME RESTAURANT AS TAIYO'S SUSHI & POKI…read more We were heading back from Joshua Tree to OC and got immense cravings for something soupy. It was either eat in Riverside or wait one more hour and have a late night dinner. We decided to eat in Riverside despite knowing their limited soup options so we wouldn't have to eat too late. We got to the spot around 8:30ish but we couldn't find a place that was labelled Shabu Garden so we circled around for a couple of minutes before realizing that Taiyo's Sushi & Poki was what we were looking for. Not sure why they have different names, but it looks like they're under new ownership so I guess they haven't had the chance to change their name? On Sunday evenings, they close at 9:30pm, so I honestly wasn't sure they were going to accept us. Luckily for us, they still accepted our walk-in and we were seated promptly. They have 3 AYCE options: AYCE shabu, AYCE sushi, AYCE sushi & shabu, and they also have a premium option of AYCE sashimi. The prices seemed quite reasonable for sushi and hot pot at $41.99 but considering the time that we had until the last call (9PM), we just opted for the shabu and ordered as many meats as we could. The servers were extremely attentive knowing that we didn't have much time until the last call so they brought out a total of 3 rounds of meat. The owner or the manager (couldn't tell) graciously offered to freshly fry any shrimp tempura that we wanted, and we were so grateful for that. Just note that there are only 3 types of broth to choose from: original, spicy, miso They have a buffet section for the veggies, noodles, and seafood. The selection is decent. They had my usual favorites like spinach, mushrooms, napa cabbage, clams, and they even had crab. The hot foods section consisted of fried foods such as fried calamari, fried shrimp tempura, etc. I can't say too much about the buffet section since we arrived there late, but we basically cleaned up majority of it. Meats were decent. No wagyu for sure. There's not a lot of selection but for the price you're paying ($31.99/pp), I'm not complaining. I'd say the pricing and value you get from this spot matches with the quality of food provided. If it were pricier, than I would prefer just getting my shabu fix in OC. The next time we're in the area, we hope to try the AYCE shabu + sushi option.
