My husband and I went for a late lunch/early dinner and I was disappointed to find they did not offer sushi options, so we ordered an appetizer and entrees. The pot stickers were a bit over cooked. The entrees came with broth soup - I was not a fan. The broth was sweet. Our entrees were offered with their own style soy sauce. I asked what ingredients made it their own and found SUGAR was added. Not a fan of the added sugar and sweet soy sauce. The meal had the pepper "spicey" indicator displayed on the menu - yet the chicken was sweet and the aioli flavor of the chicken was not my style. I asked for chili oil and mixed it with soy sauce then added it to my plate and the addition enhanced the flavor greatly. Still, the very expensive $$$ meal was not worthy of the cost. The portion size was medium (not large or small). And - it was SWEET! My husband ordered the chicken fried rice; this was good, as expected, yet not mind blowing. Another expensive meal! I liked the decor and location of the restaurant, and the style was inviting. The bar was open and may be a good setting for drinks and appetizers. Our server was great and highly attentive. Overall, this place was ok. My husband said he wouldn't go back. Our food and sprite with tip was $75; based on the food alone I believe we could get the same quality food elsewhere for $35. Diabetics - avoid all the hidden sugar! Overall, this food did not stand up to the price! I have no problem paying top dollar for great food. On to more tasteful adventures read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. I travel all the way from South Phoenix to Surprise just to eat here. I always try to make sure I get my monies worth since this is a bit of a ride for me. The main entree I highly recommend is going to be the Lemongrass Noodles Filet mignon and shrimp! I order this every time I visit and I haven't been disappointed yet. As much as I want to try a different entree, I can never bring myself to do so. We went there on a Sunday early afternoon (1:30pm). We were the only ones there. Our waiter was friendly, but hen disappeared for a while. We ordered like three appetizers and split an entree. The shaking beef and shrimp. While the beef was tender, the shrimp were few. For $30, you should get way more. The biggest surprise was that they charged us $6 for a small plate of white rice. It's barely one serving, so we had to request a second plate to finish the entree. Now I know many people don't realize that's crazy expensive for a tiny portion of white rice, I felt taken advantage of. If you order takeout Chinese, they'll load you up with white rice (because it's cheap!). Anyhow, the food was just average, thus the 3 stars. They do need to check in on you more often and for God's sake...don't charge for rice! If you do, you better justify the price by a proportionate portion. Everyone was attentive but not intrusive, our server Wayne was really sweet. We were able to snag a booth and enjoy a lovely lunch. Plenty of parking and intimate little setting with patio and bar availability. Loved the crunchy egg rolls, shrimp and pork spring rolls, steak and meatball pho (small is a generous size), and the combination vermicelli bowl. The lounge I believe is Thursday to Saturday starting at 5 pm with a piano player. Sounds like a fun time! Love this option for those that want pho with a different ambiance. From the moment you walk in, the service is top-notch, and Andy's attention to detail is unmatched. The whole experience is just a vibe. The food? Next level. You have to start with the crispy wings--perfectly golden on the outside, juicy on the inside. Then they bring out the soup to kick things off, and let me tell you, the lemongrass noodles with filet and shrimp are pure comfort food. I could eat that dish every day for the rest of my life. And if you still have room (or even if you don't--just take some to go because it's just as good the next day), you must finish with the butter cake. That warm, rich cake with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream? Unreal. Beyond the food, the ambiance is something special, especially with the speakeasy-style vibe in the back. Overall, it was a good experience. We were lucky we had the bussers, the server was distracted. We started with the fried pork spring rolls, which were good. And also had the appetizer "salt and pepper shrimp" would definitely get that again. I had ordered the clay pot with shrimp. Very very small for the price of 24/$25 and the rice at the bottom was really really sweet. Not what I was looking for. My husband and I were visiting family in the Surprise area but before we could hear back home, I started feeling my hanger swiftly build. I knew it would fully take over before we could make it back to the metro Phoenix area so we quickly found this spot. The reviews were super promising so we decided to check it out. Although the description says this is a cafe, once we entered the restaurant we realized it was designed to come across a bit more upscale. The prices reflected this too. I wouldn't say it was formal dining by any means, but there was something about the ambiance that I can't exactly put my finger on that made it seem more formal than what I expected. Service was good and we were greeted promptly by our server. When asked, she told us about their most popular dishes so we made sure to order at least one of them. Food was pretty good but did not have a ton of seasoning or flavor. For example, the fire cracker shrimp was more creamy and not spicy at all as I would have expected from the "fire" in fire cracker shrimp. The house salad was very simple and consisted of large pieces of romaine lettuce with a few sprinkles of their house made dressing. House soup was a broth with a few sprinkles of green onions, no tofu. The shrimp fried rice was lacking in flavor and honestly the veggies (and rice) seem like they may have been frozen. For the price of the dishes, I feel the flavors could have been a bit more complex. I bet Saigon Kitchen is a gem for its location here and I love that Surprise is opening up more diverse, local, non-chain restaurants. Great, quick little eatery. Vietnamese styled restaurant and even has a bar area. We were immediately sat and the server was great and attentive to everything. We came during happy hour and ordered the calamari which I would highly recommend. They have a great recipe. On top of the all of the service was both quick, but everyone including the bussers were friendly. We ordered the surf and turf pho and the tofu curry (pictured below). My friends love this place It's beautifully designed, service is very good. I'm a pretty clean eater so it was hard to find something for me. I order the stir fry and it was so sweet I had to send it back and ask if there was a way to not have whatever sauce was on it. They made me a new one and said " this should be less sweet" ‍ I said I wanted "no sweetness" I ate just the chicken. The soup had a weird taste, I couldn't eat it. The salad was again too sweet. We love Asian food and decided to try a Vietnamese restaurant for our lunch. Reading all of the Yelp reviews and looking at the photos gave us a pretty good idea that this would be a better than average place to eat. We decided to go in the early afternoon which is common practice for us during Covid. The restaurant had patrons in it but it was not crowded which made us much more comfortable regarding our health. Our server, Samuel, was top notch. He was amiable with a winsome smile and took the time to answer all the questions we had about the different cuisine options. He also was attentive to our needs. After taking some time perusing the menu, we chose salt and pepper calamari for an appetizer. It came to us beautifully presented and was large enough that it could literally have been an entrée. It was outstanding. The Calamari, breaded and deep fried was exceptionally tender. The jalapeños, mushrooms and the caramelized onions plated with the calamari were delicious. The combination was so amazing, I did not dip the calamari into the aioli for fear of ruining the delectable flavors. My spouse had the Fried Rice with Filet Mignon and I had the Combo Rice Vermicelli with charred jumbo shrimp and pork rib meat. The Filet Mignon was good, but it was medium well (no pink hue) Instead of medium rare. We did bring this to Samuel's attention and he offered to have another dish prepared. My spouse decided not to return it because it was tender. My Combo Rice Vermicelli with pork, shrimp and a crispy egg roll, nestled atop a bed of lettuce, cucumber, mint and bean sprouts was as delightful as it was beautifully plated. This is a classy restaurant for discerning palates. Prices are not inexpensive and are expected for a restaurant of this quality. There is a large well-stocked bar, and two large seating areas for alfresco dining. There also is a large VIP room for private dinners. After dark, the lounge opens, with bar food tapas style plates and a vast array of top shelf spirits and exotic drinks. On Fridays and Saturdays there also is a band. Overall this is a great place that I would highly recommend, especially for special memories. read more

None of it is great And selections are limited. What Surprise really needs is a high quality Dim Sum Restaurant! It had a flavorful broth and I really liked it, the Saigon red was really good and the mojito lacked mint flavor. I think the mint is chopped and not muddled. The eggrolls were okay, the dip wasn't to my taste and was really salty, but meh. My sister in-law ordered the yellow chicken curry and she didn't like it at all, was sweet no heat at all. After spring training at Surprise Stadium, we were looking for a place to eat dinner and decided to go here since it was down the street. Modern and clean Vietnamese restaurant, which is different from where I'm from. (Grew up in Orange County, CA.) Therefore, my expectations was a more Americanized food than traditional. It's a large place with many booths and high tables. You can definitely bring a large group. I had the pho because it was chilly, and the steak and meatball pho was good! Flavorful and clean broth. The steak was a bit over cooked for me, but the portion was good. Love that they have individualized veggies and sauces so you have plenty for your table. The shrimp spring rolls was good. The peanut sauce was good and had a bit of carrots in there! My friend wanted com tam (broken rice) and she ordered the charbroiled pork plate. It came with a soup on the side, but the plate was just rice and 3 small pieces of pork. She thought it was unique taste and good, but the plate seemed so small. Service was so great. We were seated right away and the workers were so prompt. They kept coming back to refill our waters and was so friendly. One of the best service from a Vietnamese restaurant! It was Girls Night Out and we decided to head over here for some delicious food! We made a reservation, and glad we did, because the place was incredibly crowded for a Thursday night. That usually means we're in for some tasty treats! We started with Pork Potstickers and Crispy Shrimp Egg Rolls. Both were really good. For our mains, I had the Sweet Pork Saigon Garlic Noodles (yum, yum, yum!!!), one friend had the Firecracker Shrimp Saigon Garlic Noodles (the shrimp was so crispy) and my other friend had the Filet Mignon Clay Pot (another yummy dish) with a side of the Garlic Noodles. For dessert, we chose 2 to share, the Cheesecake Egg Rolls with a Salted Caramel Mocha Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and the Saigon Dessert, which was Tempura'd Bananas with Vanilla Ice Cream covered in Cinnamon and Honey. Soooooo good!! There are so many dishes on their menu that we all wanted to try. I brought home an order of my entree for hubby and he inhaled it!
