Yummiest Pho I've had in the Surprise area. We We're a party of five, our food was out quickly. We ordered edamame, curry, pho and the ice cream dessert with banana, WOW! I enjoyed how peaceful the space felt, yes we went when it was almost closed. I cannot speak for their peak hours. The waiter was attentive and patient with us, we had a teen with us who never tried Pho before so it was a bit challenging. I will return, I do recommend and you must try their chili oil :) read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Surprise! We always get the same thing (Surf & Turf Fried Rice add Chicken) and we LOVE IT! The portion is big enough for us to share. We bring all our visiting friends and family here. They have all enjoyed it too. Restaurant has full bar and a great menu. One weird thing: when we dine in, we receive a cup of scallion broth included with the fried rice. When we pick it up to-go, they don't give us the broth. So bizarre. We even offered to bring our own container for it. I don't know what's up with that. But we love the food so much that we will always come back!! Lunch time is usually easy to get a table. But dinner time (especially Fri & Sat) is pretty busy. read more

This was the nicest ambiance Vietnamese restaurant I visited in Phoenix area, and I've been to a lot of them. The price is a little higher than the majority of Vietnamese restaurants in the valley, but they have happy hour prices 11 AM to 6 PM every day including weekends. The combination pho was very tasty, even the meatballs in the pho were good... and I normally don't like Vietnamese meatballs. Of course they had all the standard accoutrements to go along with the pho. The spring rolls had just enough mint without being too overpowering. Even the shrimp in the spring rolls actually had a shrimp flavor vs the flavorless ones out other restaurants. The peanut sauce for the springrolls was a little too salty for my taste... but even considering that I used it all. The shaken beef filet mignon was so tender, yet a little crispy on the edges from the grilling with an awesome flavor. I had wanted to visit this restaurant after seeing it on little people big world (TV show) & noticed how nice it looked inside. The music level was just right, allowing you to easily have a conversation with others at your table. This restaurant has a full bar and lounge, I believe they open the lounge later in the evening as it was a saturday and 11:40 AM when we arrived so the lounge was not open at that time The only negative, What they call black tea is actually a passion fruit flavored tea, but they don't tell anybody that it's flavored. However, they swapped it out for a sprite, but the syrup/carbonation mix was off on the sprite. It tasted more like club soda, they made another one for us, which tested a little better, but it did not taste like sprite. It tasted like some weird off brand. I did appreciate that they didn't over charge on the sodas or tea, which were only two dollars each. It's a pet peeve of mine when restaurants, charge three and four dollars and up for a medium soda. So I'm glad their soda/Tea prices are more reasonable Overall, I was very happy. And plan on coming back next time I'm in the area. read more

We ordered the filet mignon clay pot, poke nachos, and chicken banh mi. All of the food tasted like an interpretation of what the flavors should be, but result as overuse of soy sauce and sugar. The banh mi and poke had an overwhelming amount of american mayonnaise. Bread was cold and tough, resembling jimmy john's more than a banh mi. Lastly, prices are crazy. Appetizers average about $20 a dish and entrees about $30 a dish, for a maximum of 5 pieces of meat each dish. The food and prices feel colonized and not authentic at all. read more

We heard great things about Saigon Kitchen so I made reservations for Saturday night at 7pm. We arrived right at 7:00 and the place was packed. Our table was ready, so the hostess promptly seated us. She brought menus, small plates with utensils, and said our server would be right there. Sadly, that wasn't true. We waited 20 minutes during which no one stopped to talk to us, even in passing or offer to bring water or drinks, so at 7:25 we left and walked over to the Longhorn for dinner. Da Beau and I dined here on 8/31/23. I've had better Vietnamese food for a lot less coin, and larger servings. The fresh Spring rolls with shrimp and pork were a standout, though. The Thai iced tea was both palette cleansing and tasty. The soba noodles in my entree were from a package...I was expecting from-scratch, hand-pulled noodles since the dish was over $20. I came here with my fiancé, i order pho and spring roll. It's not all that great and it's not what I expected its more like vietnamese with American. Pho didn't taste like authentic pho and spring roll isn't either. Service wasn't great as well because they didn't even come around and ask if we need anything or ask how is everything? Its a average small place its a little dark inside and its hard to see the menu and reading what's on the menu. We have been dining here for probably 10 years and used to really enjoy it. Things have gotten busy for us and we hadn't been going out to eat nearly as much so this was our first visit in quite awhile. 1. Whoever complained about it being very cold was right. We were chilled throughout our meal. I never unzipped my jacket. 2. They changed their ice tea from a very good green tea to a mango tea. My wife asked for unsweetened tea, but I don't think there is any way that tea was unsweetened. It may have been sugar free with an artificial sweetener, but in any case it was nasty sweet tasting and overwhelming mango. 3. They had a salt and pepper salmon "special" on their board outslde the restaurant that sounded like it might be good. It was actually an appetizer and didn't come with anything else, like soup, rice, or salad. 4. I wound up ordering my old stand by, claypot salmon. It was $26. It used to come with soup and salad. This time it only came with soup and it was MUCH more expensive than it ever had been. Our lunch bill was crazy expensive. When we arrived in the parking lot I told my wife the place looked empty. With prices like this I can see why. I don't know if it's a new owner, or if the old owner is just having a hard time making money to support the high end cars he always liked to drive, but this place is not the same at all, and definitely no longer worth the money. Updating 5/3/21 just left this in the Surprise Restaurant FB group- Be kind to your servers... just leaving Saigon Kitchen stunned at the behavior of a table. The server tried everything to make it right, someone else tried and even the cook came out...y'all were so patient! I wanted to throw them out! Kudos to the staff!! Meh. Should have known that it wasn't the spot when I walked in and there were no Vietnamese people eating. Tried the lemongrass filet with garlic noodles and the clay pot salmon. Both were meh at best. Salmon was overly sweet and the portion was very small. Lemongrass filet was boring and a little chewy and didn't have any lemongrass that I could taste. Just felt like cheap cubed beef. Garlic noodles were meh. Tried their tangerine/orange wheat beer too and it was not good. Tasted like someone squirted one of those mio flavor water additive things into a wheat beer. I'm pretty picky with Vietnamese food. Maybe their pho is good but I don't think I'll be back to find out. This place was overpriced and the food was ok at best. read more

My family and I have been going to the Saigon Kitchen since they opened over 10 years ago. The food has never failed to please and the service has always been great. Dennis, the owner, is often in the dining area talking with the customers making sure they are enjoying their food. The servers are always pleasant and provide great service. We like it so much that my wife and I even held our wedding reception dinner there. We stopped by for a late lunch today. As usual, we had our favorite appetizer the crispy pork egg rolls. (These are fresh 'homemade' egg rolls and not bulk frozen ones like many restaurants serve.) We also tried the chicken crispy pot stickers. Both appetizers were piping hot And delicious. We followed up with the house combination sandwich. The sandwich was served on a fresh French baguette. We have been to other Vietnamese restaurants where the sandwiches are served on plain sub rolls. The texture and flavor of a baguette makes a world of difference. The sandwich comes with jalapenos which can be a bit overly spicy for some. The servers always ask if you want them or not. To finish the meal, we ordered the Firecracker Shrimp Garlic Noodles. The shrimp are always firm and cooked perfectly. The sauce on the shrimp provides a nice level of heat while not overpowering the flavors of the other ingredients. The noodles are slightly al dente and have a nice garlic flavor. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL!!!! Food was okay but the issue is that they advertise prices that they do not honor. We were given a happy hour menu with pricing on the items. When we received the bill every item had increased in price. We asked the server - he stated that the reason was that the cost of living had gone up. When you walk in, this place looks like an upscale restaurant. It's very clean & the seating arrangements were nice. I love the menu here because although there were items on the menu that were traditional Asian cuisine, there were also some unique ones that you wouldn't find at other restaurants. I ordered the Spicy Saigon Chicken Wings to share with my husband. I had the Saigon Garlic Noodles with Lemongrass Filet Mignon Shrimp & my husband had the Steak & Meatball Pho. Pho: We've tried Pho at 3 separate places & I have to say, this place by far had the best tasting broth! (Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the bowl of Pho). Coming from Northern CA where Vietnamese food spots are in abundance I was on the hunt for some good Viet cuisine. I popped in during lunch hour at Saigon Kitchen and was so excited to try it! The restaurant gives you that modern, classy but hip lounge vibe. It doesn't look anything like the outside strip mall location it's in. The inside is really nice. The hostess was friendly, I asked if there was a lunch menu or something because to be honest the prices are outrageous...especially compared to what I am used to paying CA. I was shocked that they were charging $16 for a SMALL bowl of pho?! I figured hey, they're one of the only Vietnamese spots here in Surprise so the residents are willing to pay that? But, I digress. I tried their shrimp and pork spring rolls, house broth, and garlic noodles. The spring rolls didn't have much flavor in my opinion, and the peanut sauce was ok. I kept dipping my spring roll in the house broth to get some flavor haha. The house broth was very savory, good flavor. I enjoyed that. The garlic noodles were also so delicious! I would eat them again. However, I probably won't ever come back. It's overpriced for what you're getting. I think you're paying for the "look" of the restaurant, their bar/lounge and the atmosphere rather than the actual food. read more

I am torn as I came here due to great local reviews and my wife was here before and loved it. They are very pricey for the style of food the serve, 6 people came out to 180$ with only 2 alcoholic beverages. We ordered some appetizers and some pho, curry chicken, and firecracker chicken. What tears me on this is about half the table liked their food, the other half did not. My brother and one of his sons ate pho and curry and loved it. My wife and my other nephew had curry and pho and didnt like it. I had garlic noodle firecracker chicken and the noodles were amazing, but the firecracker chicken tasted like nothing, literally had no flavor. The service was good, but they had things like cappuccino and vietnamese cloud coffee on the menu, but you can't order it because, well, they aren't making it... so not quite sure why it is on the menu. Overall I am not sure if I will be back, for the price we paid I just can't see a return trip if it is a 50/50 chance that I will enjoy it. read more

We have been dining here for years and always enjoy our meal. This past year we've been ordering take out until we're fully vaccinated. Since Covid, their portions and what usually comes with an order have gone down hill a bit. For instance, if you dine in and order an entree, it comes with soup & salad AND the portions are quite substantial vs. take out. Every time we've ordered take out, they forgo the soup. Sometimes they're willing to sub extra salad at no charge but not always. Depends on who you ask. Tonight my hubby ordered the $20 sizzling filet entree and when he opened his order, it was missing the salad and the portion was a joke! Barely a cup of meat and of course no soup to speak of. Now I admit, I should have asked to see the order rather than assume it was correct but I was hungry and they had it tied up in a knot ready to go. Still, that is their responsibility to ensure the order is correct. We're going to stop ordering take out and hope they step up their game when we return to dine in. read more

I almost was turned away for "take-out" because this is definitely a Valentines Day Hotspot. I perused their menu and quickly picked the chargrilled pork dinner with scallion soup and jasmine rice with a house salad. Because their dining room was prime, I was politely asked to wait outside in the patio for my take-out. There was no more room in the dining room, and the lovely curtained patio was filling up quickly. The night was wet and cold. The heaters were warm and inviting. They offer Pho, com dia, ban mi and bun: chicken or beef rice noodle soup, grilled meats and rice, grilled metas and veggies in baguette and dry rice noodle with meat veggies and sauce. Upon entering Saigon Kitchen, you're greeted right away. The atmosphere is awesome, very laid back, very relaxing vibes. Service is immediate, dishes are explained when needed. I'll talk food first, even though drinks came out first. The food is amazing. We had the Coconut shrimp to start, best I've had, I think in AZ. The Spring Rolls are delightful, with the perfect nutty sauce to dip them in. Then the main dishes, fantastic. I had a clay pot, Filet Mignon, the steak was perfect. We shared a Fried Rice, which was perfect. My wife had a Pho soup, she loved it. I thought it was a little sweet, but she's the expert on Pho. Everything came out quickly, we were never wanting anything. Now for the drinks. Yes, you get water, but who cares. The Old Fashioned! Best I've had, and I've had many. They use the right cherry, enough orange zest, and Buffalo Trace bourbon. They have others, but this is my goto when Elijah Craig isn't present. The Sangria is sensational. I several types of fruit in the glass, not on the rim, my only change, otherwise, it was perfect. The smell, the taste, it checked every box. They have a large wine collection, but neither of us were in the mood for wine.
