I came in on an evening before what looks like an event. There were people dinning in and staff was rearranging the furniture around. The hostess stated there would be about a 25 minute wait. I waited and waited. It passed that time and when I tried to find the hostess to check if something was available, I wasn't able to locate her. Another person who was running around asked if I was coming in for the event and I said no. It seemed like he might've been the person running the place as he was instructing people around when having the moving the tables and chairs. He immediately placed me in the far back right corner of the restaurant. I had ordered the Bo Kho and Bun Rieu. The food was delicious. A little too salty for my taste, but I didn't mind it. I would like to come back for maybe a redemption, as the food was good. It was just the experience prior to seating that had left a bad impression on me. read more

My wife and I had a bad experience in our last visit. We absolutely loved this restaurant but will not be coming back. Server Sam unfortunately dropped a bowl of pho on my leg and gave me a 2nd degree burn. I don't think a manager was there that day, but we had to leave immediately to treat the burn. We went to celebrate a birthday. The food was great. Even the "I-don't-like calamari" eater enjoyed the salt and pepper calamari, to her surprise. We tried 4 different entrees (a rice noodle bowl, whole crispy branzino, woven vermicelli wraps, and pho) and loved them all. The menu has a great selection. The service was top-notch. They offered to separate the pho broth from the noodles in our leftovers. They included extra sauce in my leftover container. It looks like they are in process of updating the space. Located where the previous Pho Bac was located near the Aldi, this place is the sister location to the original Ashburn restaurant location. This location opened only a couple conchs ago. Very steady business at the Chantilly location, variety of food offerings, attentive staff, flavorful food, and if you get the pho,...the broth is actually hot (unlike other pho restaurants)! You get a sense that everyone is doing their best and taking pride in the dishes served and that contributes toward the total dining experience you feel be the time you're done. I've been to the location in Sterling and enjoyed their fried squid there so when I saw they opened up this place I thought I'd go back and try some more dishes. We got the lobster and a fried squid. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, but the turnover is very quick so we got a table right away and the food came out in under five minutes. The service is super fast and waiters are checking in every few minutes. It looks brand new inside. I really appreciate how fast and attentive the staff was. I so wanted to love this place, as the pics look great and reviews are high. But sadly it was not a good experience at all. The pho and beef stew were both too salty, and the beef in the pho was so tough I had to spit out each piece into my napkin. I ordered my pho with the pho shank, and that too was flavorless and tough. While the Vietnamese iced coffee was tasty, the portion was small - much smaller than other places in the area. And though the staff were for the most part basically nice, we literally had 5 different staff members who each checked on us at least twice. A couple of the staff more than twice. So our meal was interrupted about 15 times, and that is not an exaggeration!! We were only two people and there was a lot of free seating throughout the restaurant. We weren't sitting there long. We didn't even finish our meal. But we felt so rushed and uncomfortable, and unwelcome, that we left far earlier than we wanted to, and had to go somewhere else and order another coffee so we could sit and talk a bit. A male staff member in a chef's jacket approached our table twice holding what looked like a credit card machine, scanning our table, and barely making eye contact with us. It made us very uncomfortable. So I didn't even finish my pho, but took my pho home. But when I tried it again, It was so salty and tough I just threw it out. Pho and Vietnamese iced coffee is my favorite dish, and luckily there are so many better places nearby. read more

After her dentist appointment, I took my mother out for lunch. This place is located in a strip mall with other businesses including Taste of Hong Kong Taste of Korea and Dunkin. There's ample parking, as you walk in, the restaurant is clean. It some interior decor, depends which angle you look but the bar to the left and a small stage in the center with speakers and musical equipment. We ordered 4 items: 1) Crispy tofu 2) Beef banana flower salad 3) Vermicelli with lemongrass beef 4) Chicken pho. The crispy tofu was lightly fried topped with sauté bell peppers and onions, served with a sweet chili sauce. It was delicious but be careful with that first bite as the inside is piping hot. The beef banana flower salad was very flavorful and well incorporated. It was very refreshing and you won't be able to just take one bite. The chicken pho broth has so much umami before adding the essential condiments and with generous portions of rice noodles and pulled chicken. The vermicelli bowl was packed and combined with beef lemongrass, pickled radish and carrots, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts topped with chopped peanuts and serve with a small bowl of sauce. It was tasty, beef was very tender but the bowl that it arrive in, was a little small because it was a little hard to fold and stir all the ingredients together. Our server Marcus was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He was also the beverage director and has another location in Sterling. I will make another visit when I'm in the area to try other items on the menu. read more

She got some sort of vermicelli bowl, again looked nice but sort of plain taste and the rice noodles were easily broken. They have some sort of karaoke setup there and the music was loud at 80-85 decibel (considered moderately loud) from where we were sitting. I saw this new restaurant at the previous Pho Bac location & decided to take my family for dinner yesterday. The ambiance is so chic yet relaxing. I love the sophisticated dark green walls with cozy booth seating. The transformation from the old, run of the mill pho restaurant set up of Pho Bac was stunning. Food was really good. Brazino was crispy outside & tender inside. Stone pot short crab fried rice was delicious. Fried calamari was as good as the old Pho Bac's. Kids had pho and gave their approval. We also really enjoyed the fancy drinks. My 80 years old mom loved her Kiwi lemonade. The desert with coconut milk was too dangerously yummy. Service was prompt & excellent. The owner came by our table multiple times to answer questions & to check on us. We agreed with him on the pitfalls of rising popularity of fusion cuisine. Sometimes you just want authentic food, not a mixture of different cuisines that may not bear resemblance to any.
