I went on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm, we didn't have reservations but we were seated at the bar right away. The cups for water and the coasters were so cute, immediately loved the whole vibe of the place. I got the ruby ring cocktail to drink; it was okay it had a lot of grapefruit juice but towards the end just seemed a little sweet/medicinal tasting. The star of the show was definitely the food! My friends and I ordered the tahini hummus to start. It came with three fresh pita breads, so so yummy and creamy. Then we shared the braised lamb, the salmon, and the crispy eggplant. All were absolutely delicious! The lamb was so tender and the sauce was sweet but not in a weird way. The salmon had a super crispy skin and was still nice and flakey. The eggplant was huge and was really tasty with all the toppings. 3 of us shared these and we didn't finish it all so we took some leftovers home. We did finish off with some dessert, our server recommended the doughnuts and so we went with that - it's filled with raspberry and served with a caramel sauce. 10/10 would recommend! Delicious Israeli/Mediterranean food inside The Source Hotel. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the flavors were really bold and I felt that they sometimes competed with each other. Perhaps I should've gotten recommendations on what sides paired well with the dishes. The most subtle flavor was the Persian rice, and its richness complemented the other bold flavors well. Prices were higher than I expected. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. Restaurant was lively and nicely decorated. The most insane and beautiful breakfast buffet I have ever seen not to mention a Mediterranean lover's dream. It feels endless with so many options for dessert, pastries, meats, dips, crudité, breads, cheeses, potatoes, fish including a lox bar etc. There is truly something for everyone and for the set price of $50 per person this is a great deal and treat to get a good feel for what Safta offers. They kept it well stocked the whole time and everything was fresh. The decor and interior is very modest and humble but tasteful. They also have a fun bar with good latte art. My babe and I visited Safta because they have high reviews on Yelp. The Israeli cuisine was so unique. Nothing like I have ever tasted. Babe loved the lamp shank with pomegranate molasses. Omg I have been to Safta so many times over the last few years (on so many dates, for that matter) and posted a ton of photos of their rarely changing menu. Still 6 out of 5 stars and one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. They are now Michelin-recognized, although no star yet. every detail about Safta is beautifully curated, from their food to their customer experience. I've loved every dish I've tried here, and it sounds simple, but the Tahini Hummus is still my favorite. The best way to dine here is with a group, ordering a few items from each section of the menu. They're great at accommodating dietary restrictions as well. I can't even highlight more items because everything is good. It might seem obvious, but make reservations in advance. Primetime dinner slots fill up. Parking in RiNo can be challenging, but there's a paid garage attached to The Source Hotel, which Safta is located in. I feel pretty spoiled living so close to this restaurant. If you ever have a chance to check it out, whether you're local or visiting, you won't regret it. Safta got me channeling my inner Oprah: I Looooooove BREAAAAAAD! I don't want to discount their food but the most memorable thing about Safta is their pita bread. Fluffy huge pillows that I never wanted to end, some of the best pita I've ever had! Per the suggestion of our server, we got items to have family style. Lamb ragu hummus: very tasty, highly recommend. Whipped feta: double recommend! I just wish there was a bigger portion of this, order this! Lamb kebabs: more like meatballs, this was my least favorite item. I love lamb but found the blend to be a little too gamey for my taste. Crispy eggplant: order this! I had just gotten back from Italy and was on a high from all the aubergine I ate there. This eggplant was a perfect shareable item and the flavors reminded me a little of Italy as well. Wow, yes! If that's all I wrote in my review I hope the pictures + the statement would say it all. Service was top notch from the start. We didn't have reservations and even on a weekday it got packed very quick. Big shoutout for everyone standing at the host stand. I counted 4 people which was a bit overkill but everyone was smiling, offering suggestions and even said if a table freed up before the 1.5 hour mark they would come find us. We made our way across from Safta and chilled on the couches in the common area and caught up and got to know some new friends too. 15-20 minutes passed and the original hostess walked over to inform us a table was ready. They sat us fair close to the entrance and within minutes there was a big line that formed at the entrance. The waitstaff was far beyond welcoming and offered even more suggestions and agreed with some of our selections. I will let our pictures do the talking. Even for a rainy day the restaurant was bright and airy. Many smiles were offered throughout the evening and dishes seemed to be expertly timed to arrive at our table. I would recommend coming here and even make reservations before arriving. Didn't realize they ended up on the Michelin guide too. Even without the knowledge of that I still dig this place. Happy it ended up on our radar and now I want to come back for the lamb ragu hummus, eggplant, meatballs or even the whipped feta. My mouth is watering! Take me back! Staff was lovely. I want to make that very clear. Our waitress and the rest of the staff were incredibly attentive and mindful of our time constraints. The staff made great suggestions. Kept our water glasses full and the bread refilled while we enjoyed our first course. Our meal was delicious though we found we didn't need to order as much as they suggested for two people especially as the tahini & whipped feta as apps with bread was incredibly filling. As was a side of their fries which was well seasoned in Mediterranean flavors. Makes me want to try that at home. My best friend had the duck soup. She enjoyed it. Be mindful it is a very small portion. I had the duck leg confit which was also tasty. The duck was well cooked and the rice and onion mix it was plated on added a nice lift to the meal. We skipped alcoholic beverages so can't speak to the speciality cocktails. All said it was a nice meal even at the $105 check that came to the table at the end of the evening. Be aware the later into their seatings the busier the place gets. If you can manage it - get a reservation for when they open. What I think needs to be addressed - the exterior parking at the property should NOT be used! We were out before the time stated (thank you, waitress being mindful) but the way the company works with charging and placing holds is a frustrating process. I called the hotel and was told a manager would get back to me. Heard nothing. Seems the hotel property wants people to have a bad taste about their experience. I do not blame the restaurant but would suggest the restaurant, when confirming your reservation, give instructions to the garage parking and not the lot. I think it would go a long way to make your guests feel informed and avoid folks feeling taken advantage of or stressed when they see a charge four times the quoted rate. There is no reason the parking company should place a hold that high. Thru my research, when you arrive use the hotel garage not the exterior lot. Stopped by for what I expected to be a tasty falafel sandwich and was extremely disappointed. The falafel and pita were super dense. The pita was flavorless. All I could think was that was going to have heartburn later today. The cabbage was tough and bitter. If you're looking for a relaxing Saturday brunch, Safta Denver is not the place. What was supposed to be an enjoyable meal turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in years. We arrived with a reservation and a specific request for a prime table, made well in advance. Instead, the host insisted on seating us in the middle of nowhere, far from any charm or light, and did so with an attitude that bordered on rude. When we politely asked to be moved, we were made to feel like a burden rather than paying guests. After waiting far too long for them to "check," we never even got the new table -- and to make things worse, we just went to go pick up our own food without even getting a table. Let that sink in -- at one of Denver's supposed top brunch spots, we were literally fetching our own food while still standing around waiting for a table. The buffet, which we hoped would make up for the chaos, was mediocre at best. The selection was uninspired, the meat overcooked and chewy, and the shakshuka overly sour, as if made from canned tomatoes. Nothing tasted fresh or thoughtfully prepared. To top it off, the drinks came late, our server apologized endlessly for everything going wrong, and the bill included a mysterious 4% "kitchen appreciation fee" -- an unnecessary surcharge that wasn't listed anywhere on the menu. By the time the check finally arrived, we were more than ready to leave. Verdict: Safta may look trendy, but looks can't save an experience this poor. Between the rude host, disorganized service, bland buffet, and surprise fees, it was a complete disappointment. We won't be back -- and frankly, Denver deserves better. read more

My wife and I went to Safta yesterday for lunch. We were served server named Winslow. We ordered the hummus with pita and crudités, as I have celiac disease. We also ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a chicken salad with out the bread. Five minutes after we left the restaurant my wife had to make a run for the bathroom. About six hours later I had to do the same. Both of our G.I. systems were in distress. We tried to think about what we ate that would cause this, and think it was probably the chicken salad. Something must've been a little funky about it. We won't be going back there soon. read more

I returned to Safta in late Spring of this year. I didn't have a reservation so I took a gamble on being seated quickly rather than waiting a long time. Fortunately, they had plenty of seating at the bar. I sat on an end of the bar next to the server area and it was ideal! This was a Sunday evening as well. The bartender who served me was friendly and offered good service. She was personable as well. I ordered the muhammara (hazelnuts, cilantro, and chili oil) with pita, Persian Rice, and the Pomegranate Braised Lamb Shank. The Lamb Shank is DELICIOUS! I love lamb and this entree nailed it! I would definitely order that again. Persian Rice was OK. It didn't meet my expectations. It appeared better on the menu. I liked the flavor explosions on my palate but I felt it was dry and didn't go down smoothly. Glad I tried that but wouldn't order it again. For that hummus (muhammara), it was outstanding. I only wish I had a larger serving of it. Their hummus is phenomenal and pita is great! My bartender brought me an extra pita with more olive oil and spices. I also ordered the Kunafa for dessert. I've had this many times at various places. They truly nailed this one as well! It was SOOO DELICIOUS! I enjoyed every bite and would order this again. Overall, my bill was pricey BUT worth it. Plan to spend money here. This place is far from my home (which can be a good thing for my wallet and waistline) BUT I will go out of my way to eat here. I highly recommend Safta. I'm a fan rom Alon Shaya. Some years ago on a business trip to Denver I made a point to have lunch at Safta, and had a lunch of bread and spreads. This occasion I made a reservation for Saturday buffet; I couldn't wait to try everything. As a YELPer I'm prepared to take pictures of the entire spread, but lost my senses because it was so extensive and appealing. The first thing I saw was the sweet treats. I grabbed some lebna cheesecake in a cute jar and lots of small bites. I then thought I was going to load up on bagels and spreads, but the bread station. Fruit station, was not nearly was appealing as the savory station with lox, fish, prime rib, corned beef, pastrami, soft boiled eggs, and more. After filling my plates, my friends were exclaiming how great the focaccia was. Round two was honey, and breads. At $50 per person, this experience was unforgettable. I heard about this place through the grapevine as a place to visit for a meal if I ever flew into the city, and I'm so happy I had the chance to do so. We wanted to get some pita pairings and some larger plates, and boy, did the food surprise and delight. I heard about unlimited fresh, warm pita bread, and while the lamb ragu and baba ganoush were amazingly savory, the pita was incredible at holding everything together and at acting as the perfect vessel to deliver everything to ravenous mouths. Seriously good pita, and both the savory, sour eggplant hummus and salty, rich lamb ragu make me want to go back and try all the other spreads they have. As for the big dishes, I think I can recommend the Norwegian salmon to starved salmon lovers only: it's good and it's quality, but salmon is still salmon. I personally enjoyed the pomegranate lamb shank a lot, as I enjoyed the deboning process to get at the tender, rich lamb, but the richness and slight gameyness of its flavor profile may have a lukewarm reception to those who aren't a fan of that. The hanger steak was beautiful and the couscous atop which the steak sat was a great pairing with it. The steak itself was quite tender and well cooked, but perhaps its flavor was a bit lacking compared to the many rich foods already consumed. I'm a fan. I'll have to try brunch here too. Dare I say it was kind of a perfect experience? Bartender was attentive. Drinks were delicious (nanas martini isn't my favorite. I was very happy with my dinner here - the food was unique and flavorful, service was attentive and the atmosphere was fun & comfortable. The menu is meant to be served family style so plan on ordering a couple dishes for the table to share! My favorite items on the menu were the dips. I tried the muhammara and the whipped feta. The muhammara is an absolute must to order! The flavor is so unique it's like having a healthy version of a Ferrero Rocher chocolate dip. The whipped feta was delicious as well. Incredible food at a steep price with small portions. I had heard incredible things about this place and owner and had been wanting to visit for a long time. We finally got a chance to go with our friends, who have frequented the owner's other restaurants in New Orleans. I was so glad they were there because they knew just what to order. Came here with a group of 8. We were able to book tables the day of in groups of four, but the restaurant was able to accommodate us. There is a rule that if you have a group of 8 or more you are subject to the prie fixe menu, but that was waived for us. Food was pretty good, really enjoyed the fresh pita and dips. We got the lutenista, muhammara, ikra, lab ragu hummus, and tahini hummus. For mains, we shared the lamb shank, persian rice, branzino, and harissa roasted chicken. We also got broccoli and basmati rice as sides. I enjoyed all the mains, but particularly liked the lamb shank and the parts of the harissa chicken really coasted in the spice, but all mains were good. We sat by the window and never bumped into someone walking to the restroom and didn't feel too close to another group. I love the open concept kitchen as well. We order 2 hummus dishes, 4 salatim dip dishes and then the half chicken and lamb entree. It was the perfect amount for 5 people with quite a bit of pitas. I did take one star off as the service was not great. Our server did come and check on us and it took over 15 minutes after the dishes were taken away for her to collect our bill which was disappointing as we were one of only a handful of tables left. This was our first time trying Safta for Sunday brunch, and unfortunately, it will be our last. The entire setup felt more like a tacky cruise ship buffet than a refined dining experience. Many of the fruits and vegetables looked oxidized and unappetizing, and the overall presentation came across as low budget for the high price being charged. The staff behind the stations were some of the rudest and most arrogant we've encountered in any restaurant, especially the gentleman manning the cheese board table--his attitude was completely unnecessary and made the experience even worse. To make matters worse, the space had flies hovering around the buffet, which only added to the impression of poor hygiene and neglect. In short: don't do it. Safta's brunch is an expensive mess with disappointing food, sloppy execution, and staff who act like they're doing you a favor by being there. Three of us had reservations for brunch today and even though we showed up late, they were very gracious about it. Our server was Duncan and he was so efficient and made us feel right at home. He didn't even make too many comments about us having the entire table filled with plates ;) And the food - OMG- the food was amazing! It's not your typical brunch fare although they did have fresh bagels from Rosenbergs and lox with 2 kinds of cream cheese and all the fixins. The pastrami with saurkraut, prime rib and lamb shoulder were perfectly seasoned and cooked. There were scrambled eggs, soft boiled eggs, and shakshuka. So many non traditional salads, fresh fruit, veggies, baked goods and desserts, and a big variety of cheeses rounded out the offerings. I don't think I'll eat again for at least another day. Coffee and hot teas are included with brunch. I had ginger turmeric tea that was delicious. The seating area is along 3 sides of the building with huge windows. So even though the restaurant was almost full it didn't feel crowded. The entire staff was working non stop, plates were quickly cleared and the food was replenished constantly. There is a paid parking garage and paid lot adjacent and street parking that is a little scarce. Brunch at Safta has to be the best brunch I've had and I look forward to many more visits. read more

I would visit Safta for their dips and cocktails every week if I could! They have quite the spread and great service. Reservations are sometimes hard to come by for good reason. I would love to check out their bar as I believe you do not need a reservation. The entrees have always been tasty but nothing to compare with the dips and warm pita that they continuously refill. What an experience. A little scratch kitchen off the beaten path in downtown. Had heard good things & had to try it for myself when visiting. Service was great; there was a mishap with our reservation and they were able to accommodate and still sit us. Our hostess was wonderful, had great recommendations and was very swift in terms of getting items out and coursing them out for us. We ordered probably one of everything and you really can't go wrong. The bread was to die for, I will be dreaming of it for months! As were the different sauces, highly recommend trying a few different ones. We all shared the chicken and the lamb, both of which just fell off the bone and were so juicy and flavorful. The food was all 5 star no doubt, and the drinks were even a better surprise! I had the gin and lavender cocktail which was delectable, and my coworkers ordered a variety of others that were also good. Finally managed to grab a reservation at Safta and it did not disappoint! This restaurant is one of many located in the Source hotel in Rino. The interior of the restaurant was a stark difference from the industrial hotel and was beautifully decorated. Our server had wonderful recommendations for both food and drinks. We were extremely satisfied with the amount and quality of food we received. The borekas and hummus were definitely big hits! I am sort of conflicted about Safta. Don't get me wrong there were some fantastic dishes but there were some that were just okay and service started great and than finished at a limp. Plus the layout feels more Cafeteria than a Michelin quality restaurant. Safta's pita is fresh baked and some of the best I have ever had. Their spreads are fantastic ( feta, baba ganoush, and hummus). Really delicious Moroccan carrots in a fantastic sauce. Loved the lamb kebab but this is not really a kebab but more lamb meatballs. Dishes that we felt fell flat: Persian rice ( my father in law is Persian and this tasted nowhere near what Iranians make) it had a very weird taste. Crispy eggplant tasted and looked more like an eggplant Parm. Harissa Chicken tasted great but for $42 dollars minuscule and not a ton of meat. Service started great. Kudos to the lovely ladies filling our water glasses...they were always filled. Pita service was awesome as we were always served fresh hot Pita. But once the restaurant goers left we were left waiting for dishes for a bit of time. Finally we were presented with the wrong bill.....I appreciate the gesture of giving me a bill $20 cheaper than what we paid but It added to the lack of focus. This was my first time at Safta and I am a huge fan. I made a reservation for a Saturday, 3 weeks in advance and the best time I could get was 5:15pm. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and it was very busy on a Saturday night. Highlights: - Our waiter Duncan was fabulous. He gave us all the right suggestions from the food, to the wine, to telling us not to fill up on Pita - The food here is incredible. Period. The only thing I would do differently is start with main plates first and end with the dips and hummus so I could try more main plates. - The decor here was welcoming and not overdone. i love that they elevated the columns with winding ledges filled with plants. Dish rankings: 1. Muhammara: I have never had a hazelnut spread like this and it was purely perfection--a slight sweetness (not overpowering) and a little kick from the chili oil (we asked for extra). I wish I could have taken this home with me with a bag of their pita. 2. Salmon crudo: honestly I didn't know what to expect- Salmon crudo sitting on Labneh? The crudo was cooked on the outside and tender on the inside. There was a nice citrus taste, good crunch from the pistachios, and beautiful fat from the labneh. 3. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it just fell short in many areas justifying a low rating. The establishment is oddly placed; on the second floor of a hotel located in an obscure location in the RiNo district I guess; not off of Larimer, but on the other side of the railroad tracks closer to the river. The restaurant interior itself is nice; large sized and modern, good decor with an "open" concept. Where this placed started to fail initially was the service. Our server was kind and friendly, but a complete ditz. I asked her to inquire if they had an IPA, and if not to bring me an old fashion -- she brought me a pilsner. These types of errors plagued our entire evening. As for the food; the only thing I truly thought was good here was the pita (which is free I guess) and the whipped feta. Unfortunately we didn't get that much pita because we asked a few times for refills but our server never brought any despite constant reminders. We ordered the lamb ragu (hummus); it didn't have much lamb in it and I believe you can pickup much better hummus (Sabras) at the store for a quarter of the price they charge here. We also ordered the Israeli salad which was fine, but also nothing special. The crispy eggplant which I'd say is "interested" at best; perhaps a decent concept but doesn't have much flavor and doesn't make sense eating as the the eggplant skin doesn't dissolve in the deep-fry process (or get crispy), and it winds up chewy and is hard to eat (I had to spit mine out). The biggest let down of the night for me must have been the chicken which I thought was highly recommended based on reviews. Firstly; I don't know why it's considered "half a chicken" unless they're using baby chickens or pheasants -- didn't seem like half a chicken in quantity. Secondly; it was came out on a plate (not even cooked all the way through -- i.e. still somewhat raw near the bone) as a cooked/grilled piece of chicken with some sauce smothered on-top of it. Seriously? For $42 this is what you get? They don't even marinate the chicken in the sauce?! No sides on the plate? Long story short; the food here simply isn't worth it -- way overpriced for what you get, with so many better options in Denver to dine -- I strongly recommend to skip this place entirely. read more

We came here based on our hotel's recommendation. It was a little early in the evening so we decided to go for pre-dinner drinks & hummus. I really like the location- inside a warehouse along with other restaurants & shops. We were really impressed with all the creative cocktails, it was hard to decide. The hummus was delicious! I try to stick to gluten free so I ordered pickled veg & the crudités plate for dipping. My husband had the fresh pita bread. At first they only brought one pita & I thought it was a little stingy but they come back & ask if you want more which is nice cause it will be hot & fresh. My husband ended up only eating 1 and 1/4 so one pita probably was plenty. Can't wait to come back for more! read more
