Hours are short and inconvenient. Short Staffed and overwhelmed. Lines are long. Today they only open from 9-1 and the pharmacist wasn't in yet when I called at least 45 minutes after they opened. **Not recommended for urgent time sensitive emergency items** due to short staffing. Otherwise the staff are usually kind and patient, the pharmacists professional, and prices discounted. Usually convenient as we can do our shipping there as well. read more

I have been a Safeway customer for 40 years. I called the pharmacy about aprescription that had not been filled in 5 days. The person who answered the phone spoke right over me and did not understand what I needed. She spoke over me and I raised my voice. She put the phone on the counter and proceeded to say my name out loud and they all laughed. I spoke with the pharmacy manager and was told the person said I called them a profane name, which never happened. I swear but not on this call. The manager informed me I can no longer be a pharmacy customer. I asked him to transfer all my prescriptions to Walgreens. Safeway did not do the transfer. So I have no way to get my prescriptions. Also, Walgreens said they have hundreds of transfers from Safeway, which speaks to the horrible customer service Safeway has. This should be illegal. read more

I went to the Safeway Pharmacy on Cypress for the first time as I had made an appointment for vaccinations. Mind you I had an appointment time. After waiting in line, the customer service representative was the worst I have ever encountered, rude, uncommunicative and too busy chatting with co-workers to pay any attention to me. When I finally broke through to get her attention, she told me I needed to fill out a form. I told Her I had completed the form online as part of setting up an appointment, well she said in a most uninterested manner, we don't have it. It is a lengthy form with a lot of detailed history. I am still being ignored by this woman. I rushed through the form, gave it to her, and she just casually said go take a seat. Meanwhile I am wondering about my appointment time. I am also wondering why I was not asked for my medical ID cards that the online sign up said I would need to have with me. I approached the waiting room with others ahead of me and no one being called for a vaccination. At this point I am way past my appointment time, so I am on the verge of walking out. I approached another employee at a different window who was actually courteous and responsive. In so many words I expressed my frustration. I stood ready to walk out when there appeared to be some movement toward serving those waiting for a vaccination, so I joined those in the waiting room. My name was finally called by a woman with a heavy accent who had no finesse in giving a shot, and I had two. Also, she did not close the door for privacy and all others have done in my experience. Bottom line an awful unpleasant experience and I will never go to this or any other Safeway Pharmacy as they are incompetent and disrespectful. Instead, I will go back to the County Health Department where they have qualified staff and a professional courteous process respecting privacy. read more

My dad went to the Safeway pharmacy on East Cypress Redding. The main pharmacist wasn't there just a woman. He waited over an hour for a prescription went back up to the counter and she hadn't even checked to see if the prescription came in. It's Easter Sunday and there was literally no other customers. My Dr. recently prescribed an antibiotic ointment for an eye issue. According to my insurance, if Safeway pharmacists had prescribed this antibiotic it would have only costed me $5. Instead they took it upon themselves to give me a different eye ointment that also included a steroid which ended up costing me $35!!! How do they know I might have been allergic to the steroid. I had another incident with them prior to foot surgery. When I went to pick up my pain pills they took it upon themselves to also prescribe me an antidote just i. case I OD'ed on the pain pills. The antidote costed $148. Pain pills were $5. I turned down the pain pills. They were not prescribed by my Dr. I had another in ident where I went to pick up an epi pen. I o ly wanted one pen and they took it upon the selves to give me 2! I took the two since it wasn't that expensive. I am beginning to see that these people are doing a lot of scamming. read more

First of all, I'd like to say that there are some very nice and helpful people working at this pharmacy. Also, if you look at the dozens of reviews I've left elsewhere, I do not like to give bad reviews. It takes something egregious to prompt me to do so. That said, I'll explain precisely what happened. Tuesday afternoon I went in to pick up a prescription. It had been called in the previous Friday, just 4 days earlier. I was informed the prescription had been cancelled and restocked, and I could not pick it up. After discussing the situation with Ed, he sarcastically said sorry to me. I said his sorry didn't seem sincere. He said it wasn't. I then told him he can't treat people like trash, that he can't treat people badly. He responded by saying he can treat people any way he wants to. Then proceeded to act like a 5 year old and say bye repeatedly. I wish I was embellishing, but sadly this is all true. I'll never be back. The pharmacist Ed is a sad little man and I honestly feel bad for him. Perhaps he has issues outside of his work, I don't know. Regardless, he needs to be removed from this position as I'm certainly not the first person to encounter this. I just spoke up about it. I would encourage anyone to look elsewhere for a pharmacy until this man leaves. It's not worth him power tripping. I have heard him talk badly about other people as well, and again, this kind of review is not something I enjoy. It just needed to be done. The Pharmacy at Cypress and Churn Creek is the absolute best. They have registered nurses on site to give Covid vaccine shots, and no appointment was needed. They also send you a text message when your prescription is ready for pick up or delivery. Very friendly and professional staff. read more

This is the worst phone call I had. I called to ask the expiration date for the bottle I had from April this year. The woman in the phone was so inpatient , told me she can check the shelf life for the medications they have , but not able to tell me the one I had. She was so in hurry. I told her on the bottle, says use before 7/20, she said that's it. Didn't give me the chance to explain. I asked her does that mean July 20th 2018? She sounds so mean, made me feel that I am stupid. Finally she said that means 7/2020 . I tried to repeat and verify what she said, She hung up the phone before I finished talking. They try to blame me for their mistakes. Do not have prescriptions transferred. It will get lost or the other pharmacy never sent (even though the other pharmacy provided proof they did). It is hard to get through to a real person. I've had my calls cancelled. I've left messages never returned. Today was the last straw. After trying for the last three weeks to get a prescription transferred I still get the response that they never got it. I give up. I can't go to any other pharmacy because only Safeway accepts my insurance. If you have a choice go elsewhere. I live the store and the retail employees. Worst pharmacy in the entire world. They only have one pharmacist who can do certain prescriptions and vaccinations and he's never there. My daughters doctor faxed in a prescription for her last week. I come to pick it up this week and it's still sitting on the counter. No one bothered to enter it into the computer. They were missing some info so decided to wait until we came in. Not call us. Not contact the doctor. The assistants are totally ignorant about any of the rules or prescription information. Bruce, the cashier bagged the 2 people who was ahead of us groceries and the gentleman behind us groceries. We had 5 things total, the lady in front of us had approximately 20 and the guys behind us had about the same. So I'm a COMPLETELY confused as to why he didn't bag our groceries too?? I really don't like to be this negative but the staff, all of them, do not know what service might be. The very person that added my new Blue Shield card told me I needed to have a new card. Then I asked why I get texts almost daily at the first of the month rather than getting them all at one time - there was that blank look again. While 8 people waited in line the single staff was completely overwhelmed while the pharmacist waited on people not even there. Why fill scripts when there are so many people there? Even if their script was not filled they could not get it anyway since no one is there to wait on those customers waiting in line. I look at every script I get, count them and make sure they are putting the right pill in the bottle - no I don't trust them. No more business for Safeway pharmacy on East Cypress. Was new customer, helped immediately upon arrival, and filled my prescription in a matter of minutes. When asked about insurance, I said I thought it ran out for the year. They checked without being asked and delivered my prescription - all paid for by my insurance. I could not have had better service - everyone was great. Will be back!!! The worst pharmacy I've ever used. The staff is hardly knowledgeable about anything. I had them blurt out my prescription in front of 5 people in line which is SO inappropriate. I've had them somehow "not be able to find my insurance" multiple times even though they're looking right at the computer screen and nothing on my part has changed. They are extremely lazy and unhelpful. My prescription was supposed to be ready, I called to double check and was passed on to 3 different people who asked me the same questions, only for them to tell me they don't have my medication and they have to order it and won't have it for another 3 days. I'm not a new customer, why are they not prepared and doing their job? This pharmacy is a joke. read more

I've been getting my medication from this Safeway for years, including my 25mg of atenolol which has not had any recent changes. My daughter goes to pick it up on Saturday but is told that it will be ready on Sunday. So yesterday we both go to pick it up and again it is not ready. I start questioning it and the clerk motions to the pharmacist and says maybe they should tell me that there is a national shortage of the medication. I ask the pharmacist what I should do and he replies that there is nothing that can be done because of the shortage of ingredients. I ask if I can obtain it somewhere else and he just shrugs and says he has no idea because there is a shortage. I tell him that this would have been useful information on the day prior so that I could have started working on a solution. He again shrugs and says there is nothing he can do. I rhetorically asked him if the answer was that I have a stroke or a heart attack and he again shrugs. Then I ask about 50mg mg doses or 12.5 mg doses that I can adjust and make work. He checks his 50mg supply and replies, oh we have plenty of these. I'll just rewrite your prescription to take half a tab each time. Omg! The risk of heart attack or stroke is very real with uncontrolled blood pressure. I got my medicine but barely. And his uncaring, unhelpful manner was horrible. I started crying and had to go out to my car while my daughter waited for my prescription. read more

Used this pharnacy for years. Something happened in the last year. Constant staff turnover. "Relief" pharmacists all the time. After repeated problems getting my elderly mother's refills at the time the phone system said they would be done, we decided to transfer to another pharmacy. For a week the new pharmacy made repeated attempts to get the prescriptions transferred to no avail. Safeway would not call the new pharmacy back. So today, one week later, i tried to call to get them transferred. For a half hour, they couldn't even answer the phone. When I got through, I talked to another "relief" pharmacist he said. I demanded that my mother's prescriptions be transferred today as she was out of her meds. He said he "would do his best". Ha Ha. Checked with the new pharmacy and of course, no transfer. The new pharmacy said they would try again, and finally at nearly closing tgey got the transfer. Yippee! Feels like I ran a marathon. Never will i have a prescription filled at Safeway on East Cypress again. When I talked to the store manager on a prior problem, he said he has no control over the pharmacy and gave me a number for corporate pharmacy district manager. I called her and never received a call back. So I'm guessing they don't intend to fix their problems. Tgey need to close this location if they can't fix it. read more
