It has been two weeks since my doctor sent in my prescription, and the pharmacy still hasn't ordered or filled it. To make matters worse, the woman answering the phones at the front desk is extremely rude and ignores calls half the time. In just one visit I witnessed the tail end of an apparent parking lot fight that drew police, an intense public meeting between staff employees and an argument between an intoxicated guest and the pharmacist. Thus is the downside to a place selling drugs being open 24 hours. Now, the upside: Well-stocked shelves and, despite the recent incident, very friendly employees. I waited in a short line at the register, less than two minutes, and the gal apologized for my wait. Another guy walked the aisles with me helping me find what I was looking for. While the parking lot looked like a crime scene, the interior and the service were actually above average for my typical drugstore experience. This Walgreens location is not very good at all. Every time I go here the parking is absolutely deplorable! There are so many cars in the parking lot at almost makes me want to turn around and go home. If I did not drive over 20 minutes just to get it all dang Walgreens I probably would go home. It is completely unacceptable. They never have enough carts or baskets for me to put my items inside once I do enter the store. It seems like the staff never cares. Every time I bring this to their attention they tell me there's nothing they can do because the carts and the baskets never get returned properly. Well if they never get return properly why don't you just go do your job and retrieve them like every other store. It makes absolutely no sense! Lemme start here...I waited a day before posting this review so it wasn't based on emotion...thank da lawd for coping skills! Note: This review is about the pharmacy alone. I come to this pharmacy often, not because I have the itchy and scratchies, rather because of the population I manage. Normally there are minor hiccups, but nothing too major. I don't fault them for that because I get it,... I'm going to the drug dealer and not everything is gonna go smoothly ALL the time. I want my dope man to have some level of efficiency though. I waited in a standing line for over an hour just to be told that the medications aren't ready. I explained that the order should have been sent over when my client was medically discharged a couple days ago. The gal told me it was, but since they were about to close I'd need to return the following day. Ahhh hell to the naw! I'll go purchase a tent and an air mattress, (cause I'm kinda bougie like that) and camp inside this store but this prescription is gonna be filled today. Today my wife and I had Covid tests scheduled at 12 and 12:15 at the 980 E Cypress Ave location in Redding. We arrived 15 minutes early as the email dictated. The email said follow signage but there was no signage so we joined the drive thru pharmacy line. Since the ONLY signage specified the new hours and in big bold print that "both lanes open" we followed traffic into the far lane. Even though there were only 7 cars in front of us when we arrived we did not get to the front of the line and talked to until after 12:45 when we were informed that "whoops only the left lane can do Covid tests" and that we'd need to go wait in line again. I explained I had a fussy two year old in the back seat and the kid on the other end of the radio didn't offer any help. When I went inside to inquire why there wasn't signage the lady at the counter blamed homeless people stealing them, and when I said that was unacceptable she called for a manager. When "Nick" finally showed up he was ranting into his radio about "what am I supposed to do when a sign blows down", I assume unaware I was the rowdy customer he was coming to talk with. He had a quick exchange where he alternately blamed being short staffed and then again asserted his sign blew over. Then he flippantly announced he wasn't dealing with this, walked away and said I can either get back in line or go somewhere else. I've included pictures from the store showing all signage. He's right a sign had blown over but nowhere on it did it specify anything about lanes for Covid tests. I'm not sure which excuse was more offensive, the one about homeless people stealing the sign or the fictional blown over sign but I find the behavior of the staff despicable. I plan on contacting BBB and both Redding and state chamber of commerces about the managers behavior, as well as the California pharmaceutical board over the appalling disregard for a pandemic. My mom got discharged from hospital at 1:00, waited until 5:30 because I've already had bad experiences and knew it would likely not be ready. My turn... walk up and tell what I'm there for and she said with disdain"not ready, we close in 10 minutes " I said "well that won't work, she needs them tonight" had them 5 minutes later. I was 2:00pm on a Sunday afternoon, I'm 5th in line at the drive thru for a slow pharmacy and it's open until 6pm; and they posted a sign closed and stopped getting prescriptions to customers. I'm isolating so my wife can have her surgery and I couldn't go inside. That's why we picked this pharmacy was the drive thru. I love Yelp, you can get a real sense from others experiences and then decide whether or not you want to take the chance on a business. I noticed that the Walgreens in Redding, on the corner of Churn Creek, and East Cypress did not have great reviews on Yelp. I have used Walgreens frequently in the last year because my health insurance has a company that manages prescriptions that lists Walgreens as the preferred provider for Rx coverage. I have been in several Walgreens and usually feel far away from somewhere between Healthy and Happy. The unhappy seem to come from waiting in long lines to pick up my Prescription. Can you guys hire a couple of people to help out? I have tried different times and hours to try to avoid the rush, but no matter what there is a wait. Not sure why this Walgreens is so much worse than the Walgreens that I frequent in the Bay Area. Don't get me wrong, the Pharmacist is very personable, warm, and good at explaining the medications. The issue is the staffing, and that they pharmacy is so busy, they need more space and a larger staff. The store itself is very nice, well stocked, and the employees up front are always super nice and helpful. I feel bad that they have to deal with the constant barrage of people with backpacks trying to steal stuff. Solution, hire more staff so they can also babysit the thieves and throw them out. The drive thru is convenient, but make sure the Rx is ready before you waste your time waiting in line. I have had multiple occassions the automated recording left me a voicemail saying the Rx is ready, only to get there, wait in a 10 person line for 30 minutes, only to hear, sorry we didn't fill this one yet. This has always been my pharmacy of choice. The service here is gone drastically downhill. I understand that it may be hard to find help, but as a company they need to do whatever it takes to fix the issue. I have tried to call them twice today and have been on hold for over 45 minutes each time. Whenever I go into the store to use the pharmacy the wait is ridiculous and it's worse in the drive through. I will say the staff is always polite and appear to be working as fast as they can; however, they are not able to keep up. I will most likely be transferring my business elsewhere if I can find anyone else not facing the same issues. read more

They gave me 30 days out of the 90- 4 days later then said to come back in 30 to get another refill even though they billed my insurance for 90 days. My dau had an appt for a COVID test, yesterday 3/22. (Walgreens 980 E Cypress in Redding, CA) We went in at the appropriate time, was administered the test, was given the data to follow-up with the lab for results. The next day, the lab said they had the sample but cancelled the test and would not test for COVID. I called the lab, and they stated that some of the patient data was not included with the submitted test sample. I got this info from the lab as I was getting ready to pick my dau up from school. I printed the relevant data from the labs online query re her sample, and I picked her up. We went straight to Walgreens, where I shared the paperwork, the non-results, the phone call info and I asked for her to be retested. These folks said they would call the lab and call me back. OK, THAT, was pointless. I had already called the lab, I had informed them I had called the lab, and I informed them of the results of that call. The lab is NOT going to accept telephonic patient information the next day. (Chain of custody) Maybe 15 minutes after we get home, Walgreens calls me back and tells me, what I had already told them. They wanted me to schedule another appointment for her to be tested! We waited inline 20 minutes the day of her scheduled test (3/22), then another 30 minutes following up on 3/23, only to be told BY Walgreens, what I had already TOLD Walgreens. No, we are not waiting ANOTHER 30 minutes at Walgreens again, to be retested. Walgreens should have immediately re-administered the COVID test, on 3/23. Well, the testing is free, so I guess we get what we paid for. Except tax dollars DID pay for it, and nothing was gotten, except corporate profits. And if I would've known they did it take appointments I would've made an appointment elsewhere. And the lady upfront was very very very rude. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I've had two experiences with this Walgreens in the last week and both have been horrible. First asked to fill a prescription, was told it would be ready in 90 mins, over 2.5 hours later in the drive through was told it wasn't ready because they put the wrong manufacturer's label on it and had to completely start over...I asked "seriously!?" All I got was an apathetic shrug from the clerk. Second time, I called to transfer a prescription and waited on hold for 15 mins until it was my turn. The clerk picked up and immediately said "Walgreens, please hold", back on hold for a few minutes till the phone began to ring...finally! Nope it rang and rang and rang about 39-40 times till someone picked up and immediate put me back on hold without saying a word. After a while more endless ringing that ended with being put on hold again. Third time it began to ring I waited and waited but this time they just picked up and immediately hung up on me. Wouldn't sell my Type 1 diabetic husband some syringes for his night time insulin. Pharmacist said we needed a prescription (later found out that's not correct). We were moving from Bay Area, CA to Oregon, stopped in Redding for overnight, and found that in chaos of move, husband's syringes were left behind. At 10pm, Pharmacist told us he'd sell syringes if we brought him the insulin vial. In our UHaul, we drove back to motel, brought the vial (husbands name and sig on vial label) back. It was now 10:35 pm when we got back (it was a 24 hour pharmacy at the time), & there were now two customers ahead of us in the line inside the store. The pharmacist helped none of us. He decided the drive through customers shouldn't wait, EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE DROVE UP AFTER WE HAD BEEN IN LINE. And for some reason, the pharmacy was a hot spot suddenly (there was some kind of convention in town). It would take pharmacist 10 to 15 minutes to process a drive up order, then another one would drive up. My usually strong husband was now feeling ill and faint with high blood sugar levels, and after a 35 minute wait, the pharmacist had managed to help one person on the inside line between the drive through orders, and was ignoring the requests and comments from people in line that he was being unfair. I shouted a suggestion (had to shout, he was always far away at the back of store or drive up window) that he should alternate: a drive up customer, and then an inside customer. He replied that he was the only one there (true) and drive through customers shouldn't wait. At the 45 minute mark, I was about to go walk up outside to the drive through window (our U-Haul with trailer with a car loaded on it, wouldnt fit in drive through) but my husband "didn't want me to make a scene". At 11:30pm, I walked into the main store, asked a Manager to be paged, told him, he came over and made the pharmacist help us, pharmacist still took his time to complete a drive thru order, before helping us, all the while grumbling that the drive through orders shouldn't wait. Our ordee was completed at 11:55pm Two hours to be sold a 5-pack of syringes which shouldn't have been denied in the 1st place, & I believe that unethical pharmacist thought Type 1 diabetes was some mythical disease he had only read about. I never got a reply when I complained to Walgreens online. At the time, I didnt understand Type 1 diabetes as well. Today, I do, and if this happened to us now, I would most definitely "make a scene". This happened May 2015, I've never forgotten it, and recent news of Walgreens allowing a cashier to humiliate a female customer and refuse to sell her condoms, makes me re-live this experience again. read more

I want to warn everyone to avoid the Walgreens pharmacy at Churn Creek and E. Cypress in Redding. I'm a diabetic and I am on insulin . My wife tried to get my insulin for two days prior to my last dose. They made her jump through hoops to get it filled saying it was no longer valid. After the second attempt and second refusal to fill it the pharmacist gave my wife the form with the proper drug name. We called our doctor and had him resubmit it with the proper information. When we called to see if it was ready we were directed to a man name Shaun who stated they were refusing to fill the prescription due to an alleged allegation that my wife was rude. He told us he had the right to refuse this life saving medicine because as a buisness they could refuse service to anyone. He was antagonistic and told us to return to our normal pharmacy which is a mail order service. He told us to take our buisness to any CVS or Rite Aid. Since we desperately needed the insulin because of it we asked him to send it to the Walgreens on Lake Blvd. He said he would but when we got there the pharmacy found out that he void the order. After much investigation the pharmacist at the Lake Blvd location was able to pull it up and fill it. At the time of all of this fiasco I was not feeling abd when we got home I took my blood sugar reading and it wad 387. We dont intend to go back to that location I hope do dont either. read more

The people try to be as nice as possible, but this pharmacy is under staffed. No matter what time I come I have to wait over 20 minutes minimum. I had to come twice this week because the rx wasn't ready the first time. I would give it a one star but the people behind the counter are trying. This is a corporate and management issue.
