WOW. I never thought I would be bothered with reviewing a chain establishment like this, but this Walgreens takes the cake for the worst pharmacy in the history of medicine. The store and the front counter are fine, but the pharmacy staff have NO CLUE HOW TO DO THEIR JOBS and they move at such an impossibly slow pace that you may stroke out from rage while waiting in line. They make the DMV look like the Indy 500. When I finally got to the front of the line, I was between two men, one of whom was standing at the counter for about 20 minutes just trying to drop off a script, and the other poor guy was getting counseled very loudly by the pharmacist on his stool medication for all to hear (HIPPA anyone??). The clerk made me stand at the counter with my antsy kid while she waited for the pharmacist and then went back again to consult her for a "review" of my medication, a heart pill and a face cream I've been getting at Walgreens for years. When, after a copious amount of time staring at a computer with the pharmacist, she finally returned *with* the pharmacist who planned to loudly instruct me on my medication as well, she seemed put off when I said "No, I don't need instructions, I've had these for years." I finally got out of there after what seemed like an eternity, and not 15 minutes after I'd left my phone started blowing up with texts and calls saying a refill of the prescription I JUST PICKED UP was ready and I'd be charged $200 because it was too soon to refill.... no sh1t? I just left with the medication two seconds ago and I didn't ask for another refill! What are you even doing over there??? Add to this the fact that there is absolutely ZERO enforcement of masks, half the people in the interminable line were bare faced and breathing on everyone else. Had the worst experience ever in my entire life at that particular pharmacy with pharmacist there , I wrote Walgreen's corporate offices, where they told me they'd handle it and after a protracted email exchanges between corporate Walgreen's and the store manager trying to protect their unprofessional Pharmacist Dr. C/P and corporate interests, my issue was never resolved. Avoid this pharmacy at all costs, below is an account I sent to Corporate and lame brain responses I received from local managers at the store: Walgreen Co- With regret I'm compelled to report an unfortunate incident I experienced at one your stores in Redding, Calif, by a Dr C.P. PharmD I'm hoping with my accounting of this incident that you can either retrain Dr Porter at least alert her to errors in her conduct from a consumer/patient's perspective. Her conduct did not fit the brand of Walgreen's, as I've be a loyal customer for nearly half a century. The incident occurred on or about Aug 29th, 2016. I had driven up from SF to see my daughter in nearby Anderson the night before and visit with my new grandson. The hours preceding the visit to Walgreen's were difficult as I had awoke about 2:00 AM writhing in pain due to a infection of my right ankle, where I had had surgery of hardware removal recently. At 6 AM I found myself at Mercy Hospital where the attending physician diagnosed my condition and gave me a new prescription of antibiotics, pain killers and Xanax: the latter two for just a few days as I had left those all at home, in Az-as there was zero pain or anxiety when I left on this joyous trip a few days prior. Things took a turn for the worst once I arrived at Walgreen's in Redding with my prescriptions. Only operating on a few hours sleep still writhing in pain, arriving at 845 AM I explain to the the in taking young lady (brunette) of my ordeal, she wasn't at all sympathetic or compassionate, all she wanted to know who my insurance was through. I provided the information, and told her I would wait, I was taken aback by her curtness. I also felt something was a bit askew as I noticed her now communicating with the pharmacist slightly out of my peripheral sight, but ignored it as I just wanted my meds so that I could get home rest and enjoy my grand baby and daughter. After an hour of waiting, my name was finally called. I was told that because of open prescriptions in Az that I would only be getting my antibiotics filled at that was it by Dr Porter. I patiently explained my situation to her, how the prescribing Dr only gave me 3-5 days worth of pain meds (Mercy Hospital) just until I got back to Az. She coldly dismissed me. She next took it upon herself to phone Mercy Hospital of her decision, I felt like I was in a twilight zone. I meekly asked for my prescription back, and then she refused to give that back to me, almost reminding me of a Nazi Nurse. This was all in front of customers. I felt I landed in a bizarro world. I've never been so embarrassed or mistreated in my life. Seeing that this pharmacist was way out of line, having physicians in my family-I calmly left and went to a nearby urgent care and got the medication Dr. Porter refused and kept from me. I write this not to bash this pharmacist, but perhaps for Walgreen's to retrain her and her assistant of the folly of their ways that sad morning. I'm hoping that Dr Porter can learn the skill set needed in her profession that she lacked that particular morning. I usually write 5-7 positive feedback letters to corporations, hospitals or organizations a month when I receive good or excellent service. I like to spread goodness in the world. This is the only negative letter I've had to type out in my life, as I'm hoping you can correct this situation in this store, so that another consumer in similar circumstance doesn't have to have an experience mirroring mine. I use the walgreens app. I get notified when my prescription is ready to be picked up. I got notification, when I went in they made me wait 15 min before telling me it had not been filled. Then they made me wait another 45 minutes before telling me that they could not fill it. What they did not expect was for me to notice they pulled my filled prescription off the shelf to take half the pills to fill someone else's prescription. I find the employees to be exceptionally rude in the pharmacy, but the photo and front cashier employees are super nice. This does not make up for the pharmacy. If I could give less than one star, I would. The store is generally pretty clean, but it really depends on the time of day. This is the only 24 hour Walgreens in the area. read more

She started a conversation with someone from the store talking over all the customers. She was very rude. People's customer service skills are terrible these days. Slowest, most poorly run business I have ever seen. Constantly lying about have prescriptions ready in specific time, rude clerks at counter and on phone. Pharmacists refuse to answer phones late at night, cite that they are "busy", drove down to see no customers...just the phone ringing with my call. They think that just because they have the County's business they don't have to treat people with any courtesy or respect, they have more than enough business. What's up with staffing? There's some issues going on. They obviously have way more work then they can handle. Lines are always looking and scripts take forever to get filled. It'll call to tell you it's done and it's not. This pharmacy needs to hire more staff asap but this has been an issue for years. We have been using Walgreens for years now. This last year it really has taken a plunge when it comes to pharmacy staff. We were given a time when our prescription would be ready. Shopped around the store and when we were told it still wasn't done we were given a time and came back two hours after the given time. Still wasn't ready. This if frustrating when you have a sick child and they ask if you want to wait in the lobby. I've already waited twice why would I want to wait again in a place where not only am I exposing my child to other people's germs and sharing what my child has with others. I know it's easy and somewhat trendy to bash the businesses that we frequent and it was building towards that while waiting for assistance at the pharmacy this morning. It did take a few minutes to get waited on but the young man who assisted me went above and beyond to make my day. To get this type of superior service in today's often disappointing retail environment is a very pleasant experience. This location is very fortunate to have Serena working in the pharmacy. I was having an issue and it was an emergency and she dropped everything she was doing to fill my prescription immediately and Even discounted it so that I could afford the prescription and be on my way. I watched her run back and forth to fill my prescription and because of her I was able to control my condition and get the proper treatment immediately. I'm very thankful that she helped me and I've been coming to this location for years and never have I met any pharmacist Who put me first and made sure that I got what I needed very fast. After 3 days, 11 calls from my doctor and I (one of which I was on hold for an hour), was hung up on, and was talked down to, just to get an Rx from this pharmacy. I wouldn't say this was an unusual experience for me with this pharmacy, just the worst experience with them. I told one employee I was about to take my business elsewhere, she said Good!" and hung up on me. The reason for this attitude by most of the Cypress St Walgreens employees and pharmacists, is that it is the only 24hr pharmacy in town and they could care less if they have business! If it were possible, I would open a competing 24hr pharmacy and undercut their prices just like the story of Sam Walton and his bad experiences at Kmart before he opened his first Walmart store. I have been going to this Walgreen pharmacy drive through for 10 years and it has always been short staffed -- but this past 2 months and especially today's experience will have me not only calling the manager tomorrow but moving my prescriptions (not that I think they will care) to another pharmacy. I was 3rd in time at 3:13 pm, got to the front of the line at 3:38 pm (not terrible); however when I got to the front -- no one ever acknowledged me. At 4 pm, I drove away. (47 minutes - no prescription). Went back at 8:25 pm -- 2nd in line. At 8:50 pm, I finally got to front to FINALLY get my prescription, the pharmacy tech was rude, could barely hear her and could have cared less about ANY customer service. Sorry you all are overworked and you don't like your job but that is clearly not my fault. Have compassion or at least pretend you care. I am 32 years old and had my leg amputated above the knee and my my surgeon of 1 year now and has done the last 8 surgeries on me to try to save my leg send over a prescription for pain medication the pharmacist there Kristi Porter and pharmacist of 18 years at that location Shari B I didn't get her full last name refuse to fill the prescription because they said it was too strong now mind you I was just discharged from the hospital with an above knee amputation at age 32. My wife went in to this Walgreens in Redding California on Cypress and pharmacist Shari B grilled my wife for 25 minutes on why I needed it what happened to me so on and so on and then like again said above she would not fill it because she said it was a strong pain medicine well yeah!! Oh and when did it become the pharmacist responsibility Duty whatever to ask so many private questions she received a prescription from a very prestigious surgeon and again refused. So I called the hospital where I was discharged inform them of the situation they in return called Sherry B and Christy Porter said that I needed this medication both the pharmacist Shari B and Kristy Porter begin to argue with the nurses at the hospital Shasta Regional Medical Center about the medication so the head pharmacist Olivia 4 Shasta Regional Medical Center called Shari B and Olivia Porter and again confrontational to the point Shari B removed my prescription completely from their system all because she felt I didn't need it and this is on a holiday it was Memorial Day of this year May 30th 2016 it's an outrage I will not stop until these two pharmacists are gone I do not want this to happen to anyone else so this is just my first stop I will not be contacting well I can't mention that yet but I have the backing of nursing staff and Olivia head pharmacist for Shasta Regional Medical Center behind me so I guess what I'm saying beware do not go there do not support them do not buy toothpaste there don't give them a dime let's keep our money local especially until these two indigenous pharmacist are terminated which will happen. So I'm happy to say my surgeon nursing staff Pharmacy staff we're able to transfer it to Owens here in Anderson where it was filled immediately now that's how it's supposed to work these pharmacist especially the two mentioned above think they are God and above Physician's this Walgreen has had numerous complaints regarding this something must be done and like I said I will make sure that no one has to suffer the way I did again because of to pharmacist who think they can do whatever they want thank you for reading read more

This place is one of the worst. In the last two months we have had to call the insurance to call this Walgreens to let them know the insurance was active/ never had been canceled. And still they wouldn't fill the prescriptions. They are exceptionally rude. When picking up one that was filled a couple months ago. They would not let me pay for it right away. Instead I had to step to the other window so the pharmacist could tell me about the meds. Then I was told to go to the end of the line and wait so I could go up and pay. Altogether I was in there for over an hour just to pick up the meds. Today they were rude. And when I tried to ask a question. They just walked away. This place is the most unprofessional place I think I have ever seen. It may be open 24 hrs a day. But it is not worth it. I bought a tube of ointment for my dermatitis for 60 dollars from Walgreens. I was happy enough with the service. A week later the cap broke. For some reason all the ointment just oozes out. I can't find a cap to fit so I headed back to Walgreens. The assistant asked the pharmacist and he didn't even raise his head up to say no. What a jerk! I stopped in to kill some time one evening before an event down the street, and as I wondered around a woman interrupted me at least 3 different times to tell me she was "never too busy to help me find anything!". At first I thought it was nice, but then I heard her telling another customer about how they are trying to lower theft and blah blah blah. Updated review the Walgreens Pharmacy on Cypress continues to amaze me at every turn you would think with so many bad ratings they would finally get it together but it's still not happening I went back yesterday four times I spoke with two pharmacist and to customer service reps about getting my prescription filled kept getting stalled off couple hours here couple hours there 20 minutes here I went back only to find that they were again totally out of stock of the medication you would think when a patient has that medication to be filled every month that even at the bare minimum you would have at least one bottle on the Shelf no not happening stalled out again they would order it and maybe it'll be here in a day or so it's a good thing that this medicine is not a life-and-death situation not that they would care because that would mean that had a conscience but from their attitudes they don't even want to be there this again should be rectified but I don't think we should hold our breath I don't think they think people's reviews are very serious or they would have done something to fix this situation just beware if you need a prescription right away call a head and verify they have it on stock otherwise you could be putting yourself in a precarious situation again if you must use caution! read more

Love that they are 24hrs. The parking isn't always great, but it hasn't been a problem. The store is nice and clean for the most part.
