I've taken my truck in here for the last 4 years or so and I think the total time I've spent there is about an hour. Every time I need an oil change it takes about 7-10 minutes and I'm on my way. It has been seven years since I reviewed Safe Lube Plus so I wanted to give them a quick shout-out. We have been coming here twice a year for smog checks ever since we moved to Reno eleven years ago. They are consistently efficient, polite, and reliable. Today we came for a smog check on our old Honda. It had been sitting in our driveway, without being driven, for over two months! After an initial unsuccessful check due to a cold engine, the guys told us to drive the McCarran loop and come back. These guys are $4-$8 cheaper than most of the drive-thru oil change shops in Reno and they've been around a long time, so they are a local favorite especially if you're in the North Reno area. Service is super fast. They'll of course try to upsell you on replacing your air filter and in cabin filter which you can tell them right off you did yourself and then won't bother checking. I didn't notice the monitors for above and below the bay on my first visit but they have them (was just looking at my phone the whole time). I can see why the locals pointed me to this place. Having zero wait was really nice. In and out in maybe 10 minutes at the most. Still think the price is a little high for full synthetic change considering how long it took but like I said they are actually cheaper than any other place I checked. read more

They do registration with smog (upon request) and that was my biggest draw. It helps so much! And recently, I needed an oil change as well. I was able to do all of it at the same time! I've been patronizing this location for a lot of years, like since they opened. The service is always stellar, until today. Which is kind of a bummer because I really love this place and I love supporting them. I stopped to get my smog check and registration. The technician appeared to be very...let's just say not in a good mood. That's not my fault. I was cheerful and nice to him. Asked how his day was, saw he was not in a great mood so decided to try to cheer him up by being nice, asking him how his day is, etc. no happy response and he never even looked at me. We came here about noon on a Sunday to get the oil changed on one of our vehicles. A few months ago, my wife brought my truck here to get it smogged and it was very smooth which is the primary reason we came today. We arrived and pulled up behind one of the three vehicles that were having their oil changed in the shop. We were greeted promptly and told it would be just a few minutes. One of the attendants came and washed our windshield and my wife inquired about the prices for our other two vehicles. Once it was our turn we pulled in and provided some basic information on our vehicle. We ended up choosing the high mileage synthetic option which is the middle of the road in their pricing structure. Spoke with Wayb and he was so friendly and thorough. They were also about $15 - $20 lower than the other places. Was in the area about 5:30 last evening and decided to go there to see if they were open. Tim greeted us at the car and answered some questions I had before guiding us in to do the oil change. Everything went so smooth and quick. It was so convenient. My niece even like the screen they had that showed the guy under the car doing the oil change. I cannot think where to begin on these guys. Super fast oil change, easy to drive in and out, and wonderful people. These guys know what they're doing and go above and beyond, truly. Affordable too, I pay $40 for what I would pay $90 at jiffy lube. I'm in and out in 10 mins, they don't try to overcharge you by doing add-ons, and the car always seems to drive that much better when I leave. They are so personable and just great! Highly recommend this place, I've been here now with 3 of my cars and will never choose another place for as long as they're here! Edit: they also jump right in and clean your windshields by hand, and top up all fluids every time as needed. I have decide to find a new place for oil changes. I looked on Yelp, of course, and found Safe Lube. We had two cars that needed to be serviced, so both the husband and I drove over in our respective vehicles. Safe Lube has four garage bays, and three were open. At 10:05 am, I was promptly greeted and pulled my vehicle into bay 3. My husband was behind another vehicle and went into bay 1. Unlike other places, you stay in your vehicle while your car is being serviced. All the technicians I interacted with were friendly and no one tried to up sell me on items that my Jeep didn't need. As the place got busier, bay 4 opened. During my service I must have been staring in my husband's direction, as of the technicians working on his car said to him, "Do you know the girl in the Jeep? She's been checking you out." To that my husband said,"Yes, that's my wife." So if you need a match making service, the staff here is quick to help a guy out. By 10:19, I was paying for my service and driving out the door. After tax I was at $48.00. This is a very low price to what I am use to paying at another neighboring shop. By 10:20, my husband's car was done too. Also there is a $5.00 off coupon on their website, but it needs to be printed out before hand. This was by far one of the best experiences I have had when it come to car care. Knowing that I just wait in the vehicle means that next time I can take my dog along for the errand. read more

Safe Lube Plus is now my favorite place for oil change and brakes. Why you might ask? Well, honesty is very hard to find and also it is very hard for me to trust a place for my mechanical needs. I have been burned before. I wish these guys did more than just oil changes and breaks because I would go here for everything if I could. Anyways, I'll tell you why I like it there so much. For the past couple of years I have take my car here for oil changes. But I recently needed new brakes/the rotors needed to be resurfaced because I was getting lots of wobble on my steering wheel. I talked to Wayne Adair. He is the mechanic that does the brakes and rotors. I told him my situation that the vehicle was having issues when I brake the wheel wobbles. He said it was probably the rotors and I concurred. I told him it might be the break pads and I might need new rotors. He said he would get it checked out and would let me know if anything else popped up. He first quoted me for new rotors and new brake pads. Just for the front which was anywhere from $300-350. I said okay let's get it done. I dropped of the vehicle and he told me he will call later when it is done. Later on the same day he called me with great news. He said that I didn't need new brake pads just rotors needed resurfacing and everything came up to $180. Instead of getting new rotors he just resurfaced there which in turn save me a but load of money. It's service and honest like this is what is going to keep me coming back. What a great shop and I really appreciate act of honesty like this. He could have just said yeah you need new pads too but gave me the truth instead. I would highly recommend this place for an oil change and your breaks! Also, side note if you from out of town and need to get your oil change they will do it in a pinch. You don't even need to leave your car. That's how quickly they will do it. Unless they are super busy but even then they will still do their best. Can't say enough about this shop. Spent $73 on an oil change. I'm a first time customer here. Had to make a trip back there after they said it was all done because they forgot to put the engine cover back on. So 30 minutes of my time and gas money were wasted. They said over the phone come on back we prefer not to keep these covers (is that a joke). I was pretty far away and had to go back, they put the cover back on. I wasn't offered a discount for next time and just got a quick "sorry". Was not fun for me I can go anywhere else for a $73 oil change. Offering me a reason to come back would have been a better play. read more
