Years ago this place was first to let you smog check and do your DMV registration in one place. Over the years it was great service after great service and I recommended them to everyone. That all changed. I pulled in for a smog check. I had a check engine light on. The person performing the smog check saw the light was on, ran the smog check, and then told me after it failed that the check engine light - that he saw - was an automatic fail for the smog test. He saw the light, knew what it meant and instead of being up front about it, he took $30 from. Don't support dishonest shops. read more

Wow nice response check engine light was not on prior to the test, truck sits parked in my drive way since I only use it when my dog wants to go for a ride( have 3 other vehicles). Have a kill switch on it so battery stays fresh but hey you can blame me the proof is there was only two system checks that didn't clear yet since I dont live far from there. So after driving a few more miles they had completed and it was able to run a full system check. I dropped my car off for oil change and smog. It took them 30 min to take care of it for me . When I came back to pick up it was nice to see it parked in a secure spot where all the staff could keep an eye on it. The service here was wonderful, fast and honest. So I've been in Reno for 12 years and I'm sad to say I just today found this spot. My daughter has an older vehicle and the AC was not working after having an AC hose changed out because it was leaking I had to find a place to recharge the AC system. I checked a couple places but the prices were crazy. So I was pointed in the direction of Safe Lube Plus. No kidding they did it for $97.50 just like they quoted on the phone. As I sat in my vehicle one of the employees walked around and offered all customers a cold bottle of water. All employees were extremely friendly and professional. So I'd give 5 stars but unfortunately my fiance didn't have the same experience. For me their team was fast and thorough. They cleaned my windshield, checked the fluids of my car, and changed my air filter one time. I've been to this place 3 times so far this year, since I constantly drive back and forth from the bay area to reno and it's been great overall. My fiance unfortunately did not get his tires checked (like it has on their list), he did not get his windshield cleaned - all which they stated on the paper he declined but he did not. Found this place because of a recommendation from a friend. After getting stung (twice no less) by one of their competitors I'm glad I came here. This trip was for 2 E-350 moving trucks that my company owns. It took about 10 minutes per truck. No hard sell on anything, everything is recorded on camera and you can watch what they're doing, as they are doing it. It's great that they have very tall bays that can fit the moving trucks as well as RV's etc. This is now going to be the only place we bring the moving trucks and one of the only 2 places I'll take my personal vehicles. read more

Well today's visit was a mess.... literally....one of the staff screwed up and that resulted in oil being sprayed all over the engine compartment and even up onto the windshield. I really didn't have time for this....30 minutes of clean up and I'm sure I will have to visit a carwash to use the pressure washer. Why than am I giving the 5 stars? As a business owner myself I believe that's it's easy to manage a business when things go well. I prefer to judge a business on how they handle things when it all goes wrong. I've been coming to Safe Lube for years now, and they've become my benchmark by which to measure other auto services by. I know that may sound like I'm being a bit biased, but really, I think it holds true when you measure them against a lot of other similar places. For starters, their customer service is just amazing. The garage employees are always friendly and courteous in the extreme, and seem intent on doing the best job they can no matter when you stop by. It goes a long way to putting one at ease, especially for me, being perpetually worried about little things with my vehicles. During those hot summer days, they will even offer me a bottle of water while I wait. And what makes it even better is that they are rocket fast. You almost never have to get out of your car. The last oil change I got from here, I was literally in and out in under ten minutes! But don't think that their speed detracts from their attention to detail. While they drain and refill your oil, they check over your other fluids, tire pressure, air filter and so on, and also give your windshields a wash, too. That may sound like something a lot of garages do, but I will qualify that statement by saying I have been to some lube joints where their basic service does not include these checks, where you have to specifically ask for them and end up paying additional fees to get the extra attention. Now granted, the price does reflect these measures, with their full service oil change being a bit higher in comparison to other places in town, but when you take into account everything you're getting and their spectacular customer service, I think it's well worth it. Before ringing you up, they tell you what they've observed from their quick inspection and provide some helpful recommendations if they feel something needs your attention. Beyond oil changes, they offer the other sort of services you'd expect; change of fluids, belts, wipers, filters and so on. Smog checks and registrations services available, too, of course. Located along N. McCarran, near the 395 intersection, they can be a little tricky to get in and out of, since you need to come in from a side street and their small parking lot is at somewhat of an odd angle. And while there are no huge extra bells and whistles, Safe Lube covers all the bases and are a solid bet if you're ever searching for a friendly, reliable lube joint. It is great to find a local business like this, where I trust them over the chains and can be sure they maintain such great levels of dependability. I would suggest keeping track of your mileage at the time of your oil change, as I noticed they recommend cars get an oil change at 2500 miles, and as I understand it most cars can go for much longer than that. read more

just went in yesterday for a long overdue oil change. went in around 8:30ish-9am, and was immediately taken in. the dudes working were straightforward, quick, and super kind! im a young female and have to get my car serviced alone, and am VERY aware of when people might assume i know nothing about cars and thus try and oversell or baby me. these dudes NEVER did. simply said i needed an oil change, and i got it. asked if i wanted my tire pressure checked and i said sure! never asked if i wanted extra servicing or made me buy more expensive oil or anything like that. straightfoward and to the point! i got out within 10 minutes, honestly probably even less. definitely will be coming back for more oil changes and any other issues i might have. kudos to you safe lube plus! read more
