Let's start off. I got an oil change in California where I live ,,the mechanic must've pinched the rubber gasket so I had a major oil leak. so we r in Reno NV now. I had to find a mechanic to fix this problem. I called master mechanics and Geronimo pulled me right in ,,,the mechanics in the back found the problem took care of it. It's hard to find honest mechanics. This place seems legit so if you live in Reno Nevada, here you go the shop is clean. The waiting room is awesome. Thanks again guys. Every time I bring my vehicle in it costs me 3k. This last time I brought it in and they sent me a list totaling 10k of all the things they said needed to be fixed. It was in 6 months ago and none of those things were on the list. They call be before I'm supposed to pick it up and said the tech felt misfiring...odd because it wasn't misfiring when I brought it in...ended up picking it up paying the $2800 and not doing any other repairs. But now I have to find another mechanic to fix the misfire. They've at least gotten better at keeping you posted, last time they had my car for over a week and never said it would like that long I had to finally call and ask what was going on. If you bring your car in be ready for a list of expensive issues and to pay a hefty fee. I've had to pay 6k in the past 6 months and it's got to go into the shop again. Only good thing they'll drive you home or pick you up and their front office people are nice other than that I definitely won't be back. I have to now rent a car until I find another mechanic. read more

There are better places to send your wives and daughters alone. The AC stopped working on the Hyundai Accent my nineteen-year-old daughter drives. A friend recommended this place, so I called and made an appointment. My daughter dropped it off early Thursday morning for an estimate. She and I both called several times about the quote. The mechanic told me that evening that the AC compressor had to be replaced. I asked for a ballpark figure because he said he had been assessing the car at the shop since 7:30 a.m. He said around $900. I gave him my email and asked that he email the quote the following day. The quote was $2,200.00. I called and spoke to another gentleman, asking why the price was so high. As we reviewed the bill item by item, things began to bother me. I was charged $168 three times for a diagnostic fee, which I assume is plugging their little machine into the car. That's $500 to find out what is wrong! Then, I discovered the main issue. The estimate included an oil change, which was not necessary because. The oil had been changed regularly and was not due for another 1,000 miles. There was a charge to repair a tire. I declined this because it's under warranty. They also had a $51.30 charge to replace the wiper blades...um, no. We finally got the price down to around $1,400.00. I had them do the work because I had no confidence in finding an honest mechanic. Let's see how it holds up. Does anyone know a good mechanic? read more

We thought we had an issue with our truck. We call A Master and they got us in that day, we left the truck there and they ran several diagnostic tests. they called us the next day and said all the tests were negative and all appeared in order. When I picked up my truck I was expecting to pay for the diagnostic tests but to my surprise I was told there would not be a charge. Granted I have been a loyal customer with A Master for sometime but work was preformed and I was ready to pay for work done. I come back because of the quality of the work and the service by the staff. It's this added courtsey that makes me want to share my experience with A-Masters. GET A SECOND OPINION or take someone with you who knows cars. The ONLY good thing about them was Fred was very courteous. Had my daughters car towed there because of a leaking radiator. Found out there was a crack in it and so he sent me pictures and a quote. $1300+ is what they wanted! Are you kidding me?!?! $790 in labor!!!Absolutely insane considering that all the parts they had to get to would've either already been removed or accessible to change out the radiator. ROBBERY. Like many of us, I rely on my car daily to get me to and from work etc... I work in Truckee/Tahoe and live in Reno, so the drive isn't simple. I was worried when my car had a light come on and it didn't have a lot of power. I couldn't afford my car to break down and be on the side of snowy I-80. I called and made an appointment for a different day. My car wasn't running right, so I drove over there and they got me right in! They even waited with me, until after 5 when they closed, for my ride to pick me up:) It was a good thing I took it in because my water pump went out as well. They got it all repaired and back to me in 2 business days!!!!!! When I got it back it ran so well I couldn't tell it was running. The motor was quite again and powerful! Update, I got into an accident and wrecked the front end of my truck. After the truck was released form the Insurance I took it to A Master Mechanic. They were able to get my truck started on the next day. They gave me a complete diagnostic list of all the repairs needed and costs. They did a great job. My truck is now operating better than when I bought it. Can't say enough about the crew here. They went above and beyond on a few other things and didn't charge me. Wish I could put zero stars. We brought in our '99 Yukon in 2015. Boy did this place screw it up. Brought it to them for a steering problem. This is what they did: wheel alignment, complete steering gear, pitman arm assembly, power steering gear box== $868.00. Really don't know if that's a good price or a rip off. Complaint is the fact that my Yukon now turns like its in cement unless it is revved up. Extremely hard to turn from a dead stop. Icing on the cake was a few days later we took it to Costco for tires and we couldn't locate the unlock tool for the wheels...went back to A Master Mechanic, because they had taken the wheels off originally and guess what?, they never returned the tool to our glovebox and apparently lost it. So we had to literally break the wheel locks off so we could put new tires on! This place is highly unprofessional. Very disappointed.Stay far far way from this place. A Master Mechanic are truly masters at what they do. I've had the most stressful day before taking off for burning man tomorrow! My AC went out when I was at another shop getting an oil change. Shop was notified this needed to be replaced when original quote was given.
