Over the years I've developed a very high level of confidence in Leo. He's extremely fair and honest in all of his dealings. He and his team perform the work that is required, and nothing more. All work is performed promptly, and is done at a very fair price. My standard service visits have twice caught issues that needed to be resolved under my vehicle warrantee. In addition, they have provided technical assessments that counteracted what I had been told be the location where I had purchased tires. I didn't need the brake service the Tire dealers had advised. We were trying to get my husband's old car ready for our teen drivers. We discovered an oil leak. The dealer wanted to charge us the price of a new (used) car to fix it so we went to an independent shop. They wanted to charge us half of a new car to fix it. Called Leo at Preferred auto and he explained why the cost can be higher and then quoted me something much more reasonable. We ended up having his shop fix the oil leak and pretty much do a 100K service, all under the price quoted by the second shop we tried. I appreciated the honesty and the hard work. I've been going here for about 6 years. I used to take my Rav 4 to the Toyota dealer and while waiting one time, a lady in the lobby and I got to talking and she said that once her free Toyota service ended she was taking her car to Preferred Auto Care which is where she normally goes. So, I took her recommendation. I dealt with Tom, the previous owner who was great, and now Leo, who is also great! Each time I go to Preferred Auto, I wait in the lobby while my vehicle is being worked on. That gives me the opportunity to observe and eavesdrop on phone conversations that Leo has with customers. I hear him tell people where they can save money. I hear him tell people what is absolutely necessary to deal with and what can wait a little longer. I see him go out with people to their vehicle to observe the "funny noise" their car is making. I see him assist people with vehicle issues and not charge them if it's something simple. I see him treat every single customer with kindness and respect and answer every question without losing his patience. I've had parts replaced on my vehicle and not been charged the full quote because "it didn't take as long as we thought it would". Once I went in for an oil change and he saw that I had a new set of windshield wipers sitting on the seat that I was going to install at home, and he had the mechanics install them as a courtesy without me even asking, no charge of course. My Honda needed a new starter. I tried to install it myself but did not succeed because I couldn't get to one of the bolts. So I called Preferred Auto Care and explained my problem. They were very understanding and prompt in addressing this. That same afternoon I dropped of the car and was told that it may be 2 or 3 days before repair. The next morning I received a call from Leo indicating that the starter installation was completed. And the cost was very reasonable. Don't waste your time and money here! Brought my Honda Civic in due to a grinding noise during braking. They said it was just the front brakes that need to be resurfaced and get new pads. I ask if there is anything else wrong with the car since I want to make sure I'm fixing everything at once, and they say no. They fix the brakes and i pay 363 dollars for just the front brakes. I get the car back and now there is an even worse noise coming from the same place as the last noise. I figured I don't want to accuse them of breaking my car and take it back to them for them to break it again so I take it to the Honda dealership in Carson. The dealership said the car has a broken belt, the cv joint is leaking and that the back brakes need to be resurfaced as well. This was incredibly annoying as I had to take off work to take it in and to pick it up and then once again to fix their mistakes. I don't know how they missed all of these problems as well but then also didn't even drive the car after to make sure it was all good. All in all i just wish they were truthful and hope they can make it right somehow! read more

My family and I came from California for a few days stay in Reno during a particularly snowy drive through the Sierras where chains were required. Because it was a holiday many of the automotive service centers were closed and could not assist with chain removal. We called around and found Preferred. The owner himself helped us remove our chains and gave us some tips for putting them on and taking them off. When we offered to pay he refused to take our money just letting us know he wanted us to be safe. Chain services runs between $15-30 and he just wanted us to be safe. I took my car here for an alternator issue, I had a previous mechanic, that I had 5 stars for (I deleted now), and I've never been through so much drama and not given any assurances to fix my car in a timely manner, only a, "Were Out 2 Weeks" and "Your Not Listening To Me" over and over again. I called here and spoke to Leo, the Owner, who gave me assurance he could fix my car in a few days. Normally a few days wouldn't be an issue with Lyft, Uber, and Taxis options, but none are great solutions and it's difficult to find a ride with any lately unless you are willing to wait up to 1 hour and not sure if anyone will show up (per the app). What I like about Leo, is you get a no-nonsense business owner who understands his business, your needs, and your vehicle. The bonus is he understands certain vehicles real well, like my Acura, and the business lists a few others like Toyota. He did the job faster than promised, which I really appreciated, and now he's going to help with me with another huge issue I am having with electrical anomalies. Leo knew exactly what it was instantly and diagnosed it as it's common with Acuras, which my other mechanic, had no clue about when I described the same anomalies.
