For many years I've been using Preferred Auto Care for the service needs of my past 3 vehicles. This includes a Subaru Outback, a Subaru Outback Turbo, and now a Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport. Over the years I've developed a very high level of confidence in Leo. He's extremely fair and honest in all of his dealings. He and his team perform the work that is required, and nothing more. All work is performed promptly, and is done at a very fair price. My standard service visits have twice caught issues that needed to be resolved under my vehicle warrantee. In addition, they have provided technical assessments that counteracted what I had been told be the location where I had purchased tires. I didn't need the brake service the Tire dealers had advised. This saved me a huge amount of money. I confidently rate Preferred Tire at 5+ stars. Well done Leo ! read more

Leo, the owner of this auto shop, is very rude. My partner just called him to ask about her car that she hasn't heard updates from for 4 days. He said "we stopped looking at your car because we had actual clients who made appointments so we will get back to it when we can" we did make an actual appointment douche. I would not go here, owner is rude and clearly doesn't care about actually helping a cliental. There's better and nicer people even at commercial auto repair places. Also not to mention when we did drop this car off he spoke my partner as if she were some incompetent child. Good to know we still talk to grown adults like this in the big 26'. Nice goin Leo! read more

We were trying to get my husband's old car ready for our teen drivers. We discovered an oil leak. The dealer wanted to charge us the price of a new (used) car to fix it so we went to an independent shop. They wanted to charge us half of a new car to fix it. Called Leo at Preferred auto and he explained why the cost can be higher and then quoted me something much more reasonable. We ended up having his shop fix the oil leak and pretty much do a 100K service, all under the price quoted by the second shop we tried. I appreciated the honesty and the hard work. Our old Subaru is driving great. Preferred auto has a customer for life. read more

I always feel confident that my car has been thoroughly checked, even with just an oil change.

Leo is honest and professional. When asked about service per mileage he always researches and gives you an honest recommendation. He will not perform service that is not needed. Great customer service, patient and knowledgeable. The waiting room is comfortable and clean with two restrooms for customer use. read more

They are very professional knowledgeable and i feel i can trust them with my vehicles. I like how the owner always answers the phone! Only 4 out of 5 stars because the replacement battery was over $100 more that i would have paid at AAA with a shorter warranty but that was on me as i should have checked that out prior to the service read more

Leo is a solid dude , I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. I've been doing business with Preferred Auto Care for over 3 years now and would highly recommend them to anyone. Definitely worth checking them out when your dealership maintenance plan runs out. I've had Leo talk me out of a more expensive repair and instead look at all options that make sense. Trusting the person who wrenches on your car is very important , Leo is a straight shooter and I've watched his interactions with many customers and there is never any pressure or a sense that he is steering someone into unnecessary repairs. Local shop doing good honest work, if you own a Toyota, Subaru or a Honda do yourself a favor and call Preferred Auto Care! read more

I've been going here for about 6 years. I used to take my Rav 4 to the Toyota dealer and while waiting one time, a lady in the lobby and I got to talking and she said that once her free Toyota service ended she was taking her car to Preferred Auto Care which is where she normally goes. So, I took her recommendation. I dealt with Tom, the previous owner who was great, and now Leo, who is also great! Each time I go to Preferred Auto, I wait in the lobby while my vehicle is being worked on. That gives me the opportunity to observe and eavesdrop on phone conversations that Leo has with customers. I hear him tell people where they can save money. I hear him tell people what is absolutely necessary to deal with and what can wait a little longer. I see him go out with people to their vehicle to observe the "funny noise" their car is making. I see him assist people with vehicle issues and not charge them if it's something simple. I see him treat every single customer with kindness and respect and answer every question without losing his patience. I've had parts replaced on my vehicle and not been charged the full quote because "it didn't take as long as we thought it would". Once I went in for an oil change and he saw that I had a new set of windshield wipers sitting on the seat that I was going to install at home, and he had the mechanics install them as a courtesy without me even asking, no charge of course. This place provides solid service which is rare to find anymore. I absolutely trust this place and will not go anywhere else. read more

Hands down BEST place to take your car in Reno/Sparks area! Leo is incredible at helping you out with keeping your car in top notch shape! This last time, all the warning lights had gone off in the car, do my first call was to here. I was told they were booked for about two weeks out, but to come by for a scan to see what was going on. Having trouble with my sliding doors on the Honda minivan. Leo and his team diagnosed the problem right away and found a quick fix. One door just needed some lube and TLC so no parts or repair were needed. Appreciate a mechanic who knows what they are doing and treats my car like they would their own. Honest owner. Very reasonable pricing. Good service. Highly recommend! Get all my Honda work done here.

They have done a few jobs for me now the work has been great. The last appointment I wasn't able to get my vehicle to the shop early morning but they were able to diagnose and start work on it the next day. Fairly priced and they don't add extra work or suggest things that aren't needed. read more

Leo and team performed our 90k mile maintenance requirements on our 2018 Toyota Highlander. The work was scheduled and completed in a timely manner at a reasonable price. Best auto mechanic service in town. Leo is the owner, and is friendly, honest, and provides amazing service. He informed my wife that we needed to replace our brake pads even after we took the car in for something completely different. The charges/services were very affordable. My honda accord had some problems cranking the starter. They took it in and gave a look. The next day I got an answer on what the problem was, turns out the starter was drawing too much current. They were able to fix it the same day and is reliable. The owner Leo was very nice and helped me figured out what the problem is. After he quoted a price that was fair and we agreed upon it. They had a very busy schedule but they were able to fit me in and fast. Would definitely recommend people to come here if there were any problems with their cars! read more

Leo and his shop are the most honest mechanics we have found in Reno. Won't up charge you and always is communicative throughout the whole process. Will never take my vehicles elsewhere. read more

I've always been scared to take my car to any shop because I feel like, as a woman, you get taken advantage of for an easy sale. Not here at Preffered Auto. I trust this place and I'd recommend this to everyone. With me, they've always figured out the problem and solved it. They really do their job in a timely manner. I've brought 3 of my cars here so far. 2 honda civics and 1 Isuzu hombre. They don't work on Isuzu, but they made an exception, which I really do appreciate. I have yet to bring back my cars for any problems because I haven't had any since I brought them in. Customer service is 5/5. Really nice people. read more

Leo at Preferred just saved me $860! He did not rip off this lady! I had called several places about replacing my Honda Civic timing chain and even made an appt. quoted $860. I called around some more, just to see if I could get it for a bit lower. Leo at Preferred asked me why i thought I needed to replace it. Turns out it does not need replaced. His honesty saved me from having to put this replacement on my credit card and increasing my debt. He is my hero today. As a single woman, we are often over charged for repairs or repairs done we do not need! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! read more

I was trying to jump start my Lexus RX330. The battery was drained due to the lights on overnight. However, I made a big mistake plugging the opposite polarity and car wouldn't start any more. I looked up Yelp and Google, both show Preferred Auto has a great rating, so I called up and Leo agreed to take my car despite he's already got a busy week schedule. I stopped by and explained the situation. He quickly identifed the issue, ordered the parts and got it fixed the next day! The price is very reasonable. I feel Preferred Auto is a place I can trust, and don't have to worry about being upcharged. read more

Took my 1994 Toyota 4Runner in to have a tune up. Everything checked for the winter season. A new rear wiper installed. And a new battery put in too. I was satisfied with how professional and polite the new owner Leo and his staff were to me. They were all very kind and nice. Took very good care of my vehicle. Told me what work needed to be done. And the great shape my truck was in. He is a very honest person you can truly trust to work on your vehicle . ( I haven't been so lucky in the past. A lot of over charging and unnecessary fee from other garages. ) I am very happy with the service and the quality of the work. The customer service is great. And his turn around is the best. The prices are reasonable too. Thanks again for the great job. See you soon. read more

My Honda needed a new starter. I tried to install it myself but did not succeed because I couldn't get to one of the bolts. So I called Preferred Auto Care and explained my problem. They were very understanding and prompt in addressing this. That same afternoon I dropped of the car and was told that it may be 2 or 3 days before repair. The next morning I received a call from Leo indicating that the starter installation was completed. And the cost was very reasonable. Preferred Auto Care is now my "go to" place for servicing my Honda! read more

I brought my Honda to Preferred with an issue that I had been unable to get fixed elsewhere. Leo was very patient and listened to my layman's attempt to explain what was wrong both when I called to make an appointment and also when I brought the car in. He then explained to me what he thought the problem was, how it would be addressed, and that he would keep me updated. My car was then repaired promptly and at a reasonable price. Throughout this process Leo was courteous, friendly, and efficient. read more

Don't waste your time and money here! Brought my Honda Civic in due to a grinding noise during braking. They said it was just the front brakes that need to be resurfaced and get new pads. I ask if there is anything else wrong with the car since I want to make sure I'm fixing everything at once, and they say no. They fix the brakes and i pay 363 dollars for just the front brakes. I get the car back and now there is an even worse noise coming from the same place as the last noise. I figured I don't want to accuse them of breaking my car and take it back to them for them to break it again so I take it to the Honda dealership in Carson. The dealership said the car has a broken belt, the cv joint is leaking and that the back brakes need to be resurfaced as well. This was incredibly annoying as I had to take off work to take it in and to pick it up and then once again to fix their mistakes. I don't know how they missed all of these problems as well but then also didn't even drive the car after to make sure it was all good. All in all i just wish they were truthful and hope they can make it right somehow! read more

Highly recommend their services if you are looking for a hard-working team who believes in honestly and high values. That's kind of rare in the world of automotive services isn't it? My family and I came from California for a few days stay in Reno during a particularly snowy drive through the Sierras where chains were required. Because it was a holiday many of the automotive service centers were closed and could not assist with chain removal. We called around and found Preferred. The owner himself helped us remove our chains and gave us some tips for putting them on and taking them off. When we offered to pay he refused to take our money just letting us know he wanted us to be safe. Chain services runs between $15-30 and he just wanted us to be safe. Character means a lot to me and if you are looking for someone honest and helpful look no further than Preferred Auto Care. read more

I took my car here for an alternator issue, I had a previous mechanic, that I had 5 stars for (I deleted now), and I've never been through so much drama and not given any assurances to fix my car in a timely manner, only a, "Were Out 2 Weeks" and "Your Not Listening To Me" over and over again. I called here and spoke to Leo, the Owner, who gave me assurance he could fix my car in a few days. Normally a few days wouldn't be an issue with Lyft, Uber, and Taxis options, but none are great solutions and it's difficult to find a ride with any lately unless you are willing to wait up to 1 hour and not sure if anyone will show up (per the app). What I like about Leo, is you get a no-nonsense business owner who understands his business, your needs, and your vehicle. The bonus is he understands certain vehicles real well, like my Acura, and the business lists a few others like Toyota. He did the job faster than promised, which I really appreciated, and now he's going to help with me with another huge issue I am having with electrical anomalies. Leo knew exactly what it was instantly and diagnosed it as it's common with Acuras, which my other mechanic, had no clue about when I described the same anomalies. The fix is in process, and I will be doing more business with Leo soon as well as recommending Preferred! read more

I have found my new auto shop!!! Leo and his crew are outstanding. We have had a couple of emergencies with my daughters MDX and Leo and the crew have come through both times. This is a honest hard working shop and you can't ask for more than that. They are very flexible and accommodating to your situation. Leo took the time to explain what was wrong and all the steps they took to make that determination instead of just telling you this is what it will cost to fix it. We came upon the shop by the recommendation of my daughter's friend. After getting robbed blind by Reno Acura, I knew we had to find another place, not easy to do when my kid lives in Reno and I live in the Bay Area. I feel like I hit the jackpot finding a place I can trust, that my daughter can take her car to without me having to be there every step of the way. When you find a shop you can trust, you have the piece of mind your not getting screwed. GREAT JOB LEO AND CREW!!! YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. read more
