Honestly, I had a really good experience here. Nile was the one who initially helped me and recommended starting with a compression test first instead of jumping straight into expensive repairs. That really stood out to me because it showed they actually wanted to make sure the engine was worth fixing before spending more money. After that, Clayton took over and continued helping me through the process. He explained everything clearly and kept me updated the whole time. They found multiple issues like intake leaks, an injector problem, and a radiator leak, but I never felt pressured to fix everything at once. I really appreciated that they worked with me and let me prioritize what I could afford. I ended up fixing the main issue, and the misfire is now gone. The car is running much better. Repairs aren't cheap, but I felt like they were honest and transparent throughout the whole process. Communication was great, and I always knew what was going on. Overall, I'd definitely recommend CoAuto if you're looking for a shop that actually explains things and doesn't pressure you into unnecessary repairs. read more

Nobody enjoys car repairs especially big ones. But the team at CoAuto definitely made the process a little easier to swallow with walking me through things. They take pictures and video to show you what things actually look like vs what they should look like. Also big shout out to Nile whose unusual rep for repairs, he's super communicative with where they're at. The shop also has a couple loaner vehicles which came in clutch when I had to get my timing chain fixed. I was able to still get to and from work. The staff here is super nice and I feel like they care for my car as if it's their own. On my last repair they asked if they could hold onto my car for another day cause they weren't satisfied with where they got it and wanted to double back and tweak a couple things to hopefully give my car back in as best condition as possible.(this wasn't any extra cost). I also love doing my oil changes here, they check a bunch of other areas of your car while they do the oil change and give you a rundown of recommended fixes. Also if not they have never pressured me on any fixes which eases my mind. Pressure sales in the auto industry feel fake and dishonest to me. Also, they give your car a quick wipe down of the consoles and vacuum as long as your car isn't full of stuff. It feels nice to get your car back a little cleaner than you gave it to them. read more

SPECIAL REVIEW! COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT! Last night, CoAuto hosted their quarterly free community outreach event specifically tailored to women titled something like "Ladies Auto Maintenance Workshop"...or something close. Newly single, I thought this would be a good event to attend to learn more about my own car's maintenance and I have also been using them as my auto shop for the last year or so. It was a Friday night, they had a beautiful spread of charcuterie and nice wine...so it started really well...;) The owner, Vinnie, had the workshop organized in sessions and a fun worksheet questionnaire loaded with information and humor. Then we went to the shop! A place I consider FORBIDDEN and I want nothing to do with it, but here I was...and all of us...a group of 12 women moving from station to station with sessions on brakes, under the hood and more, each with a different mechanic. There was plenty of opportunity for questions...nothing here was intimidating and the well-placed humorous banter made it fun, BUT...and important...Vinnie kept the workshop on track with time. This auto shop is totally cool and welcoming. There is local artists work on the walls, which they change out quarterly, sell the works and take no profit from that effort. The décor, even seating is hip and inviting. Not on this night, but on other visits, a couple of well behaved dogs are hangin' out in the office. Please check out the included photos and the awesome mural painted in the shop. CoAuto has other programs as well - high school apprenticeship, other community education and a Veteran's program, to name a few. To say I enjoyed the program and gained benefit is an understatement. As they sought to reach out to the community, what I received is community in return. What I mean is that I feel like I know these folks now. (Hopefully I will remember everyone's name when I go back!) The next time my car has trouble, (my car is famous for throwing the "check engine" light), I am not going to say "Oh crap... I have to take the car in." I am going to think..."OK, well...I get to go to CoAuto!". In these times where we rarely are able to establish relationships with our service providers, doctors, etc., it will be nice to go back to a business where they will recognize my face and name, and we can work together to solve whatever is going on with my 10 year old car. They do these quarterly...DID YOU GET THAT? I am thinking if you give them a call, maybe you can get added to a mailing list to be notified of their next car clinic? Planning on flying in from out of state to purchase a truck. Did a used car inspection prior to buying for about 200 bucks. They were extremely detailed and sent photos through out the job. Picked out every little small detail or imperfection and you can see the progress in real time. 100 percent worth the money spent. I would use this shop again if I lived in the area. Car problems. Ugh. Probably my least favorite thing to spend money and time on. There's always more problems under the surface... you always spend more than you expect... and the car is always in the shop for MUCH longer than reasonably budgeted. Enter CoAuto! The super positive Yelp reviews sent me their direction and I am SO grateful, because CoAuto is absolutely my new go-to car repair shop! First off, the quality of customer service is unmatched. Extremely friendly, helpful, and transparent staff (big shout out to James for walking me through everything!) Amazing online system for repair notes, photos, quotes, and so much more! I've never been to another shop that has such a perfect system for reading about my car's issues and approving or declining each service. Brilliant! As far as the actual service goes, they performed the job exactly as they said they would. There were some complicated issues with the brakes that other shops couldn't even touch, but the technicians here took care of it with expertise. Though the prices initially seem a little higher than others, I actually ended up saving money because they were able to fix the issue up front and without ordering any unnecessary parts. They even vacuumed out my car and cleaned the windows at no additional charge. Ok, cherry on top: CoAuto stands with the community. They have multiple programs to support our community like high school internships, planting trees for every oil change, and (my personal favorite) a quarterly event for women to educate them on car care basics. We have a far younger female cousin who had previously attended a couple of this shop's Women, Wheels & Wine free car care clinic. She'd asked us to go with her when she decided to try out CoAuto. Closed weekends so time-out from work was required. Always first check their web site for promotions and coupons. Staff courteously greeted us upon arrival. Established in 2014, owned by two brothers who grew-up locally. Shop was clean and not cluttered. Dog-friendly. Staff answered all our questions. Has slightly above average prices. We watched 'em intently the whole time to make sure they did what they were suppose to and did it correctly. Some businesses don't like that. Those businesses we don't return to. I always recommend that before you pay that you thoroughly inspect your vehicle to make sure that what you contracted for is what they actually did. CoAuto passed the inspection. Did work for price they quoted us. Advertises on their website Rental Cars Available, Uber Rides Up to 8 Miles, 3Y/36K Mile Nationwide Warranty, Loaner Cars Available. Has no specifics. Which concerned us. Remember "The big print giveth, the small print taketh." A warranty is "a written guarantee, issued to the purchaser of an article by its manufacturer, promising to repair or replace it if necessary within a specified period of time." We're still not clear about the specifics of their warranty. I rate this business 3 stars. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". That to me is an acceptable rating of something that does day in and day out what it is there to do. It's NOT a negative review because doing day in and day out what it is there to do is NOT an easy thing to accomplish. So i have been having some troubles with my Vehicle lately and have had 1 issue repaired multiple times but unfortunately circumstances I couldn't get to other mechanic. This place was recommended by a good buddy of mine . So happy he sent me here. This place is immaculate! From the Shop to The customer Service Area to The Staff , Clean , Super friendly , helpful and a couple of cool shop Dogs to hang and keep you company (see pic) They truly are attention to detail. They will take pictures of everything around the vehicle, any dash warnings , lights out , etc, etc. If you haven't been they send you link that will show you all this information, the break down of what needs to be done , recommendations, pics of what they even found or even extra problems. It really is nice to visually see things sometimes instead of it just being explained .In this link as well you can accept and decline what work you want to be done. It will all be categorized From Red - Needs to be Taken care of immediately to Yellow - Not and urgent need but recommended. It truly is an awesome way of working with you. They will call and go over each step on the link as well . Detailed and Helpful. Daniel is the only one i can remember who i spoke to the most but man he helped me a lot . TL:DR Not trustworthy and expensive So I've been here a few times. They do some things really well, including sending you a link to a "live" document where they record what they're doing, what they've done, and estimates you can approve or deny right there on the app. Generally friendly with an "arty" vibe, which I dig. The dogs are great too. However. The last vehicle I took to them, I got to see through some of the cracks. First off, the estimate to replace air filters (engine and cabin.) This is something that's, like, 30-40 dollars in parts, and they wanted almost $450 for it (see photo.) I'm not a mechanic and it took me 30 minutes to replace both filters, and that includes the time it took me to look up the directions on Youtube. Secondly, the lie (or possibly lies.) The lie was the nail in the casket. We were told on a Tuesday that there was oil leaking into the spark plugs, and we'd have to remove the valve cover and replace the tube seals. After we approved this, that Thursday we were told that due to the unusual configuration of the car (Smart Fortwo) the entire engine would have to be removed in order replace the tube seals, which tripled the labor. At this point, we still trusted them, so we approved this (on Friday.) We were also told on Thursday that there was a crack in the windshield washer reservoir, and the replacement part would be $100, and they would go ahead and order it on Thursday. On Monday, we got the call that the valves were done, but replacing the washer reservoir would be $400, with $300 being labor because again, it's "so hard to get to." I asked the service writer why they didn't replace it when they had the engine out of the car, and got told that they didn't have to remove the engine, they just had to remove a "couple things" (which apparently still took as long as removing the engine because my labor cost didn't go down at all.) I was also told that they only found out about the cracked reservoir when the seals were already done, I pointed out they they knew about the cracked reservoir the week before. The service writer INSISTED that they only found out about it on that Monday morning, when HE was the one who told us about it on Thursday. I have the document where they discuss it. One or two mistakes is excusable, but the flat-out lie about not knowing about the cracked reservoir so I could get charged extra labor was a step too far, and makes me question every other upcharge I've ever paid for with them. (Oh, and they also quoted $650 for TWO new tires, but they did offer to mount and balance those two new tires) read more

Searched for a place for auto repair for my truck and messaged CoAuto over the weekend. They replied to my message within 24hrs and asked me to call in to talk about my request. They were honest about having some techs stuck out of state due to weather and that if I wanted in immediately they might only be able to change my oil. I worked out a time later in the week for them to be able to look at all of my concerns. They were very flexible and easy to work with over the phone. Getting to my appointment was super easy, the parking lot is a little confusing but the techs guided me where to park. I got setup with my advisor who was extremely polite and professional. I needed an oil change, tire rotation and check my breaks. They got my truck in the bay immediately, as I waited I had a conference call and was able to sit in their waiting room and work. Here's an update to my experience with CoAuto, as requested by Mark the service manager at CoAuto. It has been over a week since I picked up my truck. The manager has called daily, sometimes mulitple times, asking me to take down my opinions on the service that I received at CoAuto. Mark you found out how to push my button. You called my daughter. She has nothing to do with my review of CoAuto. Never heard from Vinney the owner. After this response, leave us alone. Our business with CoAuto concluded over a week ago. CoAuto did resolve the issue with the daylight running lights, for an addtional $246.89. Here is the transcript from CoAuto's work order dated 8/27/24:Checked Operation of Day Time Running light Socket = Power is Being Supplied when needed Located a Bulb and installed = DTRL is working I reluctently paid the $246.89, just to be done with CoAuto. After much back and forth, phone calls, and lots of Stress, the owner and I came to an agreement. Vinnie did refund an agreed amount based on the disputed cost. He sent a nice card (and a nice note) with a check that cleared, so we can all put this behind us. 2020 has been a hard year for everyone, and we can all be caught up in our own emotions and problems. Horrible experience here. Took my vehicle in for an oil change and 1 broken item (driver door lock). Loved their philosophy, plant a tree for an oil change etc., pictures, updates. Seemed all great..... until They did a full inspection and came back with nearly $8000.00 in "recommendations" .. including things like $1400 for New Tires! I did authorise a bunch of work, as taking a big road trip. From there on communication was bad.. Holiday weekend cost time, understand that. Then a daily "oh we'll definitely have it done tomorrow" "oh we found something else $$." And a technicion who basically called me a bad customer for being upset that I wasn't getting good updates, and delay after delay. The capper being - you really should go back to your previous shop and get a refund. I know only the basics about cars, and Co-Auto advertises that they are the ones who don't take advantage. Lots of feel good for women in that category. Cool. I guess Guy's who only know the basics, maybe they make it up cleaning our clocks. Felt more like a hostage than a customer. Out the door for just over $3000. read more

Professional, reliable, trustworthy, transparent and compassionate aren't qualities we typically associate with mechanics, but they're definitely the ones I'd use to describe the team at CoAuto, from the tippy top all the way down. Much like medicine, the problem with automotive repair is that so many of us don't understand how cars work and look at the problems associated with them as merely costs without understanding how the issues arise and how they're fixed. Each situation is incredibly different, and the same set of symptoms could theoretically lead to two different problems being solved. Until this recent experience with CoAuto, I hadn't understood this either. It's very difficult for a mechanic to tell you what's wrong based on symptoms alone, and it's unfair to expect them to give you costs until they actually know what's wrong with the vehicle. On top of all that, it's unfair to expect they'll diagnose the problem for free. That's why I love CoAuto and their transparent approach to servicing vehicles. See I drive an older car, and I've put off some wear and tear repairs that were only effecting ride quality for me. Then my AC went out last week, and that needed attention immediately, so I called to make an appointment, explained the symptoms, and asked the guy what was likely wrong so I could figure out how much it would cost. That's where we all start right? The person on the phone explained that he really couldn't tell me without seeing the vehicle, and said all service at CoAuto begins with a battery of inspections and diagnostic tests to find the issue AND they charge for that service. I was reluctant to accept that, as most of us would be, but he also explained that the fee is based on labor, and if the problem is discovered sooner, they don't charge the full amount. Same goes for repair work! See, I can get behind this idea. They're up front about the costs, so you know the worst case, but they also value you as a customer and only want you to pay for services received. To me, that's trust, and establishing a relationship on trust with a professional is where I want to spend my money. BTW, my AC problem turned into a cooling issue in the engine that lead to a faulty thermostat, which once replaced, got the AC working in no time! Seven years it's been since 2013, when I first met Anthony, Vinnie. Rochelle has been with them from the start. Back then they were a much smaller shop, but as you can tell from the other glowing reviews, they've got the customer service aspect down pat. I'd like to update my review after taking my truck home and fixing it myself. After pulling everything apart it was apparent to me a few bolt on my water pump were loose causing a leak around the gasketseal, after cranking them down the leak has stopped and the truck is running perfect. This is the second incident with this shop where it seems they would just rather put all new parts in a vehicle vs actually finding the problem and doing what's right for the customer. If they quote you a price get a second opinion, they have proved themselves unreliable to me TWICE. read more

I've been taking my '06 Highlander here for years - always great service with excellent communication and fair, clear pricing. A few months ago, my vehicle needed some extensive work (did I mention it's a 2006?) and the estimate was north of $3k with 10 days in the shop - it required removal of the engine and transmission - a completely fair estimate. I dropped it off, but meanwhile they'd found a way to do the work without fully disassembling everything, and ended up cutting both the cost and time in the shop by over a third. Obviously, I couldn't be happier with the work they do. It's great to find a repair/maintenance shop you can trust, but really exceptional to find a business that will actually look to save you money and time. read more

I'm giving CoAuto another review and update because of something they DID NOT do (which was a GOOD thing) I took my 2002 Grand Cherokee into them to have new coil spacers installed (also known as a budget boost). I brought in the spacers and explained what I wanted done. They were a little hesitant but I wanted it done. An hour or so later, Vinne at CoAuto gives me a call and explains that one of his guys has installed these before and warns me about bumpsteer and other issues I may run into. Also, the amount of time they would take is longer than I expected. To put things in perspective, I can do very basic car repair and know my way around working on basic car repair but don't generally mess with suspension. Prior to going in to CoAuto I had seen people doing it in their garage using spring compressors and making it pretty easy. After talking to Vinnie I made the decision for them NOT to do the work which I think we both felt better about. After a little more research on my end I find out that using spring compressors can be extremely dangerous and the con's of installing this kit far outweigh the pros (alignment issues, bumpsteer, death wobble, etc) For that I have to give these guys five stars again. I'd rather have someone give me an honest and straightforward answer and protect their employees from injury than work on a car to make a few bucks. read more

I love co-auto. I have been taking my vehicles here for the last five years or so. They have worked on them all. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They treat you like family. I've been in the process of purchasing a new truck for the last 90 days and it's been excruciating finding a reliable vehicle. Luckily the Great folks at CO auto do pre-purchase inspections to give me a great idea of what I'm getting into with a new vehicle purchase. Because of this amazing team I actually avoided two unreliable vehicle's. Not only that because they know me and treat me like a loyal customer they are always willing to work with my schedule and get me in whenever I need it. I went to get a PPI on a used vehicle through this shop and they are nothing short of amazing. Vinny was very courteous and honest and gave a lot of detail for me to make an educated decision. They shared me a link to a website with the +/-'s of the inspection plus pictures and notations of what's going on and also went over it in person. Vinny also went out of his way to let me know about the availability of certain parts along with the costs. Prices are fair for what it is. I also inquired about oil changes and were also quick to notify me about availability. They currently have a promotion for medical professionals for no cost oil changes. They have my full respect. I didn't actually have service done here on my 2001 Honda Accord, but I am giving 5 stars for the customer service I received from James. Long story short, the maintenance light came on while my husband had the car in California. He checked all the fluid levels and filled what it needed, but he had to drive home to Reno in the car and then back to California. I called our dealership where we usually have it serviced but I couldn't get anything until the 24th and I called on the 14th. I googled Honda Service near me and got CoAuto's number. James answered my call and I explained our issue. He had no openings for Friday the 18th when the car would be in Reno. He mentioned that maybe the dealership forgot to reset the light when we had the last oil change and we believe that might just be it. I thanked him and hung up. To my utter surprise he captured my phone number and called me back with referrals to two other shops that might could help us? Who does that in this day and age? I never got an appointment anywhere but my hubby made it over the mountain safely last night and will have the car serviced in California where he was able to get an appointment at a dealership in Palo Alto.
