Great, honest people here. I took my truck in for a smog test because when I tried to renew the registration online with Nevada DMV, I received an error message stating that "DMV records indicate a smog check is required for this vehicle." Got to Fast Smog and they told me what I already suspected: you don't need to smog a truck that's only 2 years old. I told the attendant about my online renewal attempts and explained the situation. He could have just shrugged it off, taken my money, and run a smog check for me. Instead, he goes out of his way to call the NV DMV office and get an explanation. Turns out I was trying to renew too early (despite having received the e-mail notification from NV DMV that I was eligible for renewal). Moral of the story: trust the folks at Fast Smog and not the DMV. read more

I rarely write a bad review, but man I had some poor customer service here. The employee was extremely grumpy. He ignored me talking to him- even though I was standing right in front of him and we were the only two people there! So, here's my advice to you.... there are other places in town than charge half (yes, half) as much and smog your car with a smile if you are willing to drive about ten minutes. If you're not, there's an online coupon that you can use if you pull it up and show him on your phone. read more

As many Yelpers may know....I hate to drive. I also hate auto maintenance. A necessary evil of owning a car is getting it smogged. I've been coming to this tiny little spot to get 'er done--smogged that is for years. It's located to the right of Big O Tires. The service is always friends. Not only am I recognized for the lack of miles on my vehicle and the color (screaming yellow) - they always ask about my father, mother and aunt. We all get smogged here. Reasonably priced and there's usually a coupon available. I've been going there for 7 years and I'll probably continue to go until I get rid of my car or leave Reno. read more

I'm giving the average rating of what others have done only so as to not promote nor disrupt the current rating. This is just to say I got a quote and went by there to take a look. The quote I got was $30 and if I want to have them do the dmv renewal then it is another $10, so $40 total if I want Fast Smog to do everything. By comparison I went to a place that cost me a total of $16 for everything and I got it done in 12 minutes !!! Thus, prices are all over the map. $40 seems to be about the highest and $16 is certainly one of the lowest. Shop around. read more

Went on a Saturday around 1 pm. Zipped into the parking lot found it kinda hidden behind the Big O Tire. Drove right up front, young man came right out and greeted up. Told us the steps to take, asked a few questions and went to work. I only needed a smog certication and no registration, since I am heading to DMV on Tuesday to get new plates. I was going through old mail and realized my car registration expired tomorrow and that I needed a smog test before then. They were the only place open nearby at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. It was fast indeed, and they are able to renew your registration online-BUT they do not issue the registration and tags. When I asked if the registration service was the same as at the AAA, the service Provider said yes- it's not. I expected to get the tags and registration card as I would have from AAA. When I realized that was not the case, I asked them to reverse the charge on my card so I could go to AAA, my request was refused. I now will have to drive with expired tags on a multi- state trip. I am more than disappointed in the lack of clarity when sold the registration service. read more

When I went to Fast Smog, the attendant was beyond rude, barking out orders and cutting me off mid-sentence. The next day, I contacted the owner who seemed more concerned with how I got his phone number than the complaint I was making. He brushed off the issues I had by suggesting I was at fault by getting a smog check during a driving rain storm. I pointed out that rain didn't start falling until the smog check was half way done and he chuckled and said perhaps the attendant had a bad day. Bad day? The only way the attendant could have been ruder was if he had spit on me. Later, the owner emailed, demanding I remove my Yelp review because he had conducted a class with the attendant on how to deal with difficult customers. I declined. read more
