I've been using this location for over a decade, but today was a disappointment. I usually go across town when I need my annual smog check but decided to try Instant Smog since it was a little closer to home. It was a super quick and easy experience and not too expensive. The man that performed the check was friendly and efficient. After the check he also offered to submit my DMV registration renewal on my behalf for only $10. Short guy who's angry at having to work at a smog place has no knowledge of cars or the codes that come up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Doesn't have the decency to tell you that he can't run a smog test on your car if you have a check engine light on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Does it anyways run my throttle to the floor for 2 minutes straight, saying it needs to be above 2500 RPM when Its a Hybrid and tells me it failed. Charges me $35 and tells me to go fix it and come back once check engine light is off. Should have mentioned that to begin with, now my car has a failed smog on its record for my gas cap being broken. He's useless and just needs to take money from people because he's sad. Never go here, drive a mile to fast smog or Q's quik smog. read more

They get the job done, I got a smog check and it's a lot more inexpensive then a lot of other places especially is you have cash. It also doesn't take very long. It is a little hard to get in and out of but what can you do. Great place to get your car smogged. My regular go to smog check station was closed on the day I was able to go and get the car smogged. Found this one just up the road. Pulled right in. The attendant hooked up the car. I paid for my certificate and was on my way in under 5 minutes! Quick and friendly service! I arrived at 4:00 with my motorhome. Guy was finishing up a smog, I waited 5 minutes or so until he was ready and asked how he wanted to park. He told me he wished I would just leave and come back in the morning, and it went downhill from there to actual yelling. I was out of there, complete with the smog at 4:19, so not late at all. I like this place. I've often used their quick and convenient services. I usually walk over to the 7-11 while they do my smog and bring the employee back a Gatorade. I do find myself going to the, less friendly places down near the airport because their price is much lower. I asked them to price match but the employee said they couldn't. In tough economic times, I often choose price over quality/customer service/convenience. read more

Is this the cheapest place in town? No. Does it have a super convenient process and location that makes that price difference worth it for me? Abso-freaking-lutely. I've used this location three years in a row now and don't see that changing unless I end up moving far away from my current neighborhood. This is the first non-food business I've reviewed. Normally I wouldn't bother. However the service was so bad here, this review needs to stand warning. I was helping my elderly step father out by getting his SUV smogged. The place was near his home so I decided why not. No one was standing in front. There was no line. I pulled my vehicle up to a spot. As I got out, a guy emerged from the tiny office. I could see he had the game on a small tv. I tried to make small talk but the guy did not respond. He hooked up his device and in a couple minutes said it passed. When I didn't want to tack on the registration fee, he gave an exasperated sigh, took my card, and went into the office slamming the door almost in my face. He came out a minute later and had me complete the transaction. He then went back into the office and slammed the door again without even saying "Thank you" or "Goodbye". The only plus is I was done in less than 6-7 minutes. Yes you can get a quick smog if you don't mind doing business with a complete jerk. read more

Had to go twice cause my sensor that you plug into for diagnostic was faulty but the guy there (wish I could remember his name) was awesome, he just gave me a readout and suggested where I go to get it resolved and he didn't charge me! So naturally, once I got the car fixed I went right back and it passed smog in 2 seconds. He even filed my registration on his computer and saved me a DMV trip which was so rad! I hate going to the DMV (who doesn't?). Got my tags in the mail a couple weeks later, and couldn't have been happier with my experience. I'll be back next year! read more

I moved a Corvette to NV and during storage over the winter I put in a new battery. Unbeknownst to me that caused emission information to be lost on the computer memory. The tech realized right away as the computer didn't have enough data. He told me to drive the McCarren loop and that should be enough. He was right and she passed the smog test. This place is pretty darn good. You pop in and get your smog check done in a quick, efficient manner. In and out in 10-15 minutes. Easy as pie. I tell you the happiest day of my life was the day they told me I could re-up my licenses plates there now. Its well worth the $10 fee. It sometimes get a bit busy early in the morning with folks trying to fit this in before work, so you may need to wait a bit. But overall its a 4 star experience. read more

Love this place! The employees are always fantastic! I pulled up during a busy lunch hour and there were 2 cars already ahead of me. All you have to do is pull up to one of the available parking bays and when they are free they will ask you to step out of your vehicle so they can smog it. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. They always ask if you want to register with the DMV as an added fee but I always refuse that service and just do it myself on the computer. read more

Super quick, I was probably here for a total of less than 5 minutes. The general manager helping me was very friendly and had excellent customer service. They have the option here to pay an extra $10 and also renew your registration at the same time as the smog. Highly recommend! read more

I didn't know a smog test couldn't pass with a check engine light on. It was on due to a spark plug wire getting chewed on by a rodent. I replace the wire and the truck is fine and the emissions coming out of it are fine. Well, they guy looked right at my engine light and even acknowledged it before starting the test. He then did the test and said it didn't pass because the light is on and said "that'll be $30". I complained that he knew the light was on and he said the DMV doesn't allow them to say anything which is COMPLETE AND UTTER HORSES**T. That is so spineless and dishonest to do to someone. So now all I have to do is unplug my battery to clear the code so I can pay $30 again. These guys knowingly/blatantly scammed me out of $30. read more

That was the fastest smog check I've ever had. I just moved here from California so, even though I had been smogged in December I had to have it done here to get registered. Not only was the technician super friendly but he even gave me a tip sheet for registering my car in Nevada and answered my questions as well. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. The price seemed pretty reasonable especially when I had paid almost almost twice as much in San Jose for the same service. For sure I'm going there again next time! read more

Besides my feelings about how much of a waste of money and time yearly smog checks are, this company needs to step up their game. The kids working there are so used to the monotony of their job, that they failed to remove the fees for which I had already waited 90 minutes at the DMV to take care of. Instead of simply reviewing the invoice and asking about any discrepancies, they eagerly charged my card for the extra $$. Sorry, he said, I skipped through that page and can't do anything now. fast, friendly service, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes since there was no one else there, but there are cheaper places in town. it's $30 for lightweight cars and $35 for heavy duty for the smog and then its a $10 fee for re-registration. Not much more expensive than other places though and since I live just down the street from it it's just more convienent to go here than another place that may be cheaper but is further away. read more
