I had an intermittent issue with the CUE display in my 2015 Cadillac SRX that had stumped multiple mechanics, who believed the vehicle needed a new CUE system. The symptoms were very unusual--the screen would go black at certain vehicle speeds and when using the turn signals, while the radio and other functions continued to work. Michael and Jared took the time to listen carefully to the history of the problem and immediately recognized that it could be related to the aftermarket backup camera interface rather than the factory CUE system itself. Within minutes they identified that the camera interface settings had been changed, likely after a battery replacement, and corrected the configuration. The problem was resolved immediately. What impressed me most was that they didn't try to sell me unnecessary parts or repairs. They quickly diagnosed the actual cause, fixed it, and didn't even charge me for their time. That level of honesty, knowledge, and customer service is hard to find. I highly recommend Safe & Sound Mobile Electronics to anyone with automotive electronics, infotainment, or backup camera issues. Thank you, Michael and Jared, for your professionalism, expertise, and integrity! read more

At the beginning of September 2025 an accident left me unscathed and my 2011 Toyota RAV4 totaled. Best car I've ever owned. I found an identical car to replace it, but it was missing the SiriusXM tuner. Jared and Michael at the Chantilly Safe and Sound Mobile Electronics made it right. I walked in without an appointment and I was told it would take an hour and a half. I believe I was out of there in less than an hour. After speaking with them, their expertise was obvious and their customer service was superlative. I am 71 and not easily impressed, however, I have now found my Go-To store. They had never met me before and did me VERY right. That is why they have my sincere thanks and highest personal recommendation! read more

I stopped here after getting referred by my local mechanic EuroWerks. I have a 04 VW GTI and even with new headlamp assemblies, the stock bulbs were not doing a great job for night visibility. I moved from Chicago to the DMV and found VA has less light pollution than Chicago. I initially thought I would need to buy fog lights but Safe & Sound suggested I get LED bulbs instead. They are cheaper than fog lights and should get the job done. They sold me a 2 sets of Heise 50W bulbs and after a few months, I finally got around to installing them. While the passenger side was easy, I ran into issues with the drivers side and was referred to a shop closer to me for help (Sonic Sound, Arlington). Aside from Sonic Sound finding a small fracture in the bulb lens, all was fine with the install. I drove it tonight for the first time and am 100% satisfied with the results. However, Sonic Sound warned the small fracture could produce condensation. I haven't noticed anything yet. read more

Whoo hoo. Thanks Sam and Tim & all at Safe and Sound (Chantilly). Got my console USB [for Android Auto] & logo back up camera done. The service was amazing.... They even worked me in on a busy Saturday. I honestly can't say enough good things about this shop. I appreciate the recommendation from my FB forum. Though it's a bit far from DC, IT was worth it. They'll only install products bought in store, and all the products have a healthy markup compared to typical pricing. The job was ok at best, but when I called to talk about the satisfaction guarantee they boasted about to fix any flaws, they never replied and ghosted me. read more

Called yesterday to ask about having Apple CarPlay installed in my car. Gave them all the information requested, and was told that before giving me a quote or ordering the parts, I would need to drive over and see them so that they could confirm the trim in my car. Seemed odd, but they had come recommended by someone else who said he couldn't do it. So I drove 45 minutes to go to their store, only for the clerk to look up my make and model and tell me In about five minutes an exact quote for the exact parts. The quote was pretty high, and I asked if he needed to come out and take a look at my car. "Nope." I explained I felt that my time had been wasted because I was asked to come out all the way to their store unnecessarily. He immediately responded, "well I guess both our times were wasted because I didn't even get a sale after giving you a whole pitch." Wtf? Rude staff, wasted my time, and seemed over priced. read more

I could not get a basic quote for car stereo installation. More interested in selling me one of their audio systems.

I made an appointment for new speakers to be installed on my Honda Civic with it's weary factory stereo. I met with Mark and he walked me through the process so I felt comfortable with them. It's a great looking store with a professional design. I'm looking forward to getting my new auto sound system and will eventually upgrade the radio/streaming unit down the road. read more

Safe and Sound put a new radio, blue tooth and rear camera in my Lexus SC430 a couple of months ago and I've been holding off putting up this review, hoping that I'll be a little less upset when I write it. I'm writing now to help make other buyers extra careful when they get quotes and work done here. I don't think that I was very safe or sound with how this company tried to take advantage and charge me way more than I should have been charged. I came in and told them what I wanted and the manager was nice and he put a quote together for me. I had no idea their services were so high, but I had been saving for the radio replacement for about a year, so I scheduled the work for the following Saturday. I looked at my quote later and decided to check prices on the items I was buying. I went to Walmart.com and amazon.com and found the radio, camera and XM kit for about 70.00 less than quoted, so I called them, told them I was bringing in my own parts and they could install. All good. Then when it was done, the manager tried to charge me an extra $100 for installing my parts. I laughed at that and said, but you stock these parts, and he said, yeah that's crazy, I'm taking that off the bill. What? Then later I go through the bill again, just randomly to see how close to budget I was and I see an item for installation of steering wheel interface 49.99. I called and asked to speak to the manager and I asked him about this item, and told him that I didn't get a steering wheel interface. He excused himself and came back and said, "we're sorry it looks like we made a mistake. Come into the store and we'll give you a refund for that." His tone of voice was not like he was sorry, but that he was pissed." I told him "I live pretty far and could he just do the credit on my card over the phone." He said he "couldn't." I asked for the manager. He said he was the manager, then he said, "okay give me your card number" and I got my refund for the part and service I never bought, that was never even on my quote. I never even got an apology for the bogus charge! To conclude, I could have spent $220.00 more than I had to on my installation and parts if I had not been paying attention. So buyer beware. The sound system is great - that's why I gave them 2 stars, but the idea that I would have been taken advantage of for this amount of money, when I saved a year to get the system - this will stay with me and they won't get any more of my business for sure. read more

Would definitely recommend coming here for car electronics installation. Everyone I spoke with was knowledgable and there were no issues with installation. I wanted to install a backup camera on a car without one, my car needed a video interface as well to use the current screen. I wanted to keep the default screen and not have to replace the head unit, so I did my research, bought the parts, and was initially going to install myself but after having it for a while and not getting a chance to I decided to look for someone to do the install. Safe & Sound had been a recommended option from someone and the reviews were great so I decided to reach out. Rich answered my initial email in a detailed manner, providing options and of course noting that when you come in with your own equipment there's no guarantee it will work. Went ahead and stopped by the Chantilly location where Sam also walked me through the options and provided the cost and breakdown of any items. read more

I am so happy with the work the Chantilly office did on upgrading my old factory radio in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler, to the Alpine i509-JK as well as a backup camera and BlackVue dash cam. They said it would be an all day job and actually called me about 5 hours later saying they were done. The staff was friendly, helpful and took the time to go over how everything worked. My many questions were answered during the pre-sale as well as after installation. I'm definitely going back to have my factory speakers upgraded to the Alpine PSS-22WRA soon. read more

I'm glad to finally see someone review the same issue I have had with my truck after I had the alarm, cameras and remote start installed. Because of the installation not being done properly it has killed several batteries in my truck and my alternator. I had the cameras removed thinking that would solve the problem. My remote start isn't work now so I assume the viper alarm is causing issues for my brand new battery. I paid over $1000 and just want a refund and it taken out of my truck. I have to jump start my truck every day and my horn doesn't work and it's because the installation done incorrectly. I went back to the shop several times and they couldn't fix the issue. I wouldn't recommend this shop. I went because my truck was vandalized and it has caused me more issues than anything. read more

I used Safe & Sound Mobile Electronics to install a radio that had been removed from my husband's car into mine on 5/29/17. The gentleman at this store could not have been more professional or nicer. I know very little about car electronics and they were wonderful explaining everything. One of techs sat down with me after the radio was installed and explained all its features. I also want to thank Safe & Sound Mobile Electronics for thinking of their customers' first. I made an appointment for the service on Memorial Day several weeks before. Apparently Safe & Sound Mobile Electronics were planning on closing early on Memorial Day (but did not know that when I made my appointment). Instead of canceling on me, they placed 2 - 3 techs on my job to get it done (at no extra cost). In a nutshell, no speedy service and knowledge staff, no complaints. read more

I've spent roughly $4,000 already at Safe and Sound Chantilly and every experience has been great. Very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly staff are ready to greet, install, and answer any and all questions relating to anything electronic with a 12 volt system. The staff was friendly and nice when I called about a wiring harness & speaker mounting bracket I needed. It was my first time installing speakers in my truck, and I told them I needed a mounting bracket for the rear doors. He observed my speakers and recommended a bracket that would fit. When I got home to install, it was not a mounting bracket, but instead, it was a spacer. I trusted that they would sell me the correct part given I explained what I needed and am not an expert myself. Long story short--I wasted $20 because of a simple miscommunication/lack of understanding--and I had to buy the correct mounting bracket from Crutchfield for another $20. I also live 40 minutes away and don't have the luxury of returning. read more

Thanks again, Mike the Tech, Tim, and Craig for the super job of installing my Dashcams in our Suburban. The Blackview dashcams (front and rear) are so easy to use and we feel (no pun) safer now. Not only do we have a reliable witness for potential accidents to include hit and runs, but I'm waiting to catch one of the perps that go around at night checking car doors for unlocked cars. Between these cams and the two Ring.com devices on the house, we should be able to catch them on video again with a quality video. Great job guys! We'll bring in the other truck soon and get the Blackvue installed on the Yukon XL as well. Nice install job. Been working with Craig and the Chantilly team over a couple of years to replace my OEM car audio system - used Kenwood and Mosconi electronics, Illusion dash and door speakers, and a JL sub. Also did sound insulation in doors. Craig has always been straightforward laying out a game plan and options - no BS. They used a creative installation to make it work and they stand 100% behind what they do - a couple trip pieces were mistakenly broken (clips, etc.) and they replaced the pieces no question, to my full satisfaction. Tim performed a final tune on the system and it really brought the package together...clean and crisp music up to crazy volume levels. I can finally hear and feel my music...Wow! Highly recommend Craig and the Chantilly team; they are top notch. read more

Loved the experience. The owner of the store helped me pick out the stereo for our Toyota Highlander and the overall experience was outstanding. The demo unit that I had originally picked out had a defective CD player (they noticed the defect when testing the unit) so they were gracious enough to give me the newer model of the exact same unit at the discounted price of the demo unit -- needless to say, I was very happy with the free upgrade : ). I've been reading about these guys for quite a while. People leave great reviews for the business and a few weeks ago i learned exactly why first hand. I stopped by earlier this month to discuss installing a new touchscreen head unit and a security system for my car. I spoke with Craig. Very straightforward no BS kinda guy. Told him exactly what i was looking for and rather than be a pushy sales guy, he offered suggestions on some things and gave specific reasons why it would be better going with Headunit A vs Headunit B for instance. He did sell me on a slightly more expensive unit but was able to give me a detailed reason as to why it was better, not just tell me this is the better one get this. I was interested in getting an Apple CarPlay compatible unit. Craig took every question/concern i could throw at him and when i was done he presented a nice package deal that i found to be very reasonable. Once we set an appointment up, i came back a week or so later for the installation. I was introduced to Brendan the guy who would actually be doing the work on my car. He like Craig was very professional and was able to take my questions/concerns and put me at ease. All in all they installed a new headunit and a security system/keyless entry in about 6 hours. They had a very nice waiting room with a big screen and bottled water with some comfortable couches. After the installation was complete, Brendan showed me how the items i had installed worked and i was very pleased with the final result. They did a very clean professional job. It was then that i truly got to see why these guys have been in business for as long as they have and get the positive feedback they do on places like Yelp. They are a very reputable business and make no mistake about it when i need new things installed in my car, there is one place and one place only i am bringing my vehicle and that is to Safe & Sound in Chantilly. read more

Came here to have a subwoofer and amp installed on a Jeep Wrangler. From the initial phone call through installation, every team member of Safe and Sound was incredibly helpful and gave down to earth advice - allowing me to make easy decisions when putting together my system. Everything is very reasonably priced and the installation came out stealth with all wires hidden and tucked away. I appreciated the fact hat the installer also gave me a call regarding placement of certain items while the work was being done. One month later when I was experiencing some issues with the amp, Safe and Sound fixed the problem with no questions. Definitely recommend these guys and I'm looking forward to using them again for future sound or alarm installations. read more

Install: Bluetooth interface module on 2006 BMW X3. 1. Jesse is awesome. Expert advice. Knows his cars and platforms well. Extremely knowledgeable about the correct process to find the optimal solution for your goal. In my case, it was getting a great Bluetooth system installed in my girlfriends car. For this, I could not have asked for a better experience than the one Jesse provided. 2. Amazing customer service. I had a schedule conflict come up last minute with a training that I needed to attend in Manassas, but I had already booked my appointment at Chantilly. When I informed Jesse of my conflict, he stepped up HUGE and drove down to the Manassas location to do the install for me since it was just a few minutes from my training. WOW! That is the type of customer service you just don't see anymore. Especially in the DMV! 3. Honesty. I won't bore you guys with the details here, but Jesse identified a problem with the car from previous, non-audio work by another body shop in the area. He took the time to explain it to me and explain how it created problems with the speakers. Rather than take advantage of the situation, he gave me a totally honest and transparent breakdown of the situation, including how he could just reattach the wires to get the speakers working perfectly again. He could have taken advantage of the situation and sold me new speakers. He didn't. Nice work Safe & Sound - you've earned yourself a lifelong customer here! BLUF: go here. Awesome Store.  I live an hour away from the Safe & Sound (Chantilly) shop, but decided to make the drive because I was impressed with a picture of their product wall I saw on Yelp.  The picture is not deceiving; the store is set up very nicely.  When I showed up, I was greeted by the store manager, Elias Ventura.  He was very friendly and patient when we talked about my plans for my car.  After we talked, I told him I wanted to walk around the store and look around.  That is when I saw a presentation of all the custom installations they have done; all are extraordinary.  That is when he told me about his installer Matt Schaeffer.  He explained to me that Matt does not duplicate any of his stereo installations and when he gets a car, he can visualize and come up with some insane/crazy/good ideas. Elias and I walked out to my car and tried to picture a custom installation for me.  Everything I asked for Elias said Matt can do it. He kept on stressing that his ideas are not as elaborate as Matt's ideas.  I left the store that day with an appointment to get a full custom stereo installation.   Before my installation date, I met up with Elias and Matt to explain what I wanted for my car.  Matt explained his vision and provided options for what he can do.  I told him that all I wanted is for my space to be practical for everyday use, but something that will stand out and he can decide how he wants to design it. Elias kept me updated with the status of the installation and allowed me to come by the shop to see the work in progress.  Even before the final product, I was very impressed and it made me anxious to see it completed.  When I picked up my car, I was smiling and speechless. The final product is very nice and the sound quality is awesome. I would like to mention that Matt Schaeffer won the 2016 Mobile Electronics Installer of the Year and was featured in their magazine.  To my surprise, part of his article was about his installation in my Subaru.  https://issuu.com/mobileelectronics   I will definitely be going back for any future installations and will recommend them to anyone that asks me about a good car stereo shop.  Thank you Elias, Matt, and crew at Safe & Sound. read more
