I stopped here after getting referred by my local mechanic EuroWerks. I have a 04 VW GTI and even with new headlamp assemblies, the stock bulbs were not doing a great job for night visibility. I moved from Chicago to the DMV and found VA has less light pollution than Chicago. I initially thought I would need to buy fog lights but Safe & Sound suggested I get LED bulbs instead. They are cheaper than fog lights and should get the job done. They sold me a 2 sets of Heise 50W bulbs and after a few months, I finally got around to installing them. While the passenger side was easy, I ran into issues with the drivers side and was referred to a shop closer to me for help (Sonic Sound, Arlington). Aside from Sonic Sound finding a small fracture in the bulb lens, all was fine with the install. I drove it tonight for the first time and am 100% satisfied with the results. However, Sonic Sound warned the small fracture could produce condensation. I haven't noticed anything yet. read more

Called yesterday to ask about having Apple CarPlay installed in my car. Gave them all the information requested, and was told that before giving me a quote or ordering the parts, I would need to drive over and see them so that they could confirm the trim in my car. Seemed odd, but they had come recommended by someone else who said he couldn't do it. So I drove 45 minutes to go to their store, only for the clerk to look up my make and model and tell me In about five minutes an exact quote for the exact parts. The quote was pretty high, and I asked if he needed to come out and take a look at my car. "Nope." I explained I felt that my time had been wasted because I was asked to come out all the way to their store unnecessarily. He immediately responded, "well I guess both our times were wasted because I didn't even get a sale after giving you a whole pitch." Wtf? Safe and Sound put a new radio, blue tooth and rear camera in my Lexus SC430 a couple of months ago and I've been holding off putting up this review, hoping that I'll be a little less upset when I write it. I'm writing now to help make other buyers extra careful when they get quotes and work done here. I don't think that I was very safe or sound with how this company tried to take advantage and charge me way more than I should have been charged. I came in and told them what I wanted and the manager was nice and he put a quote together for me. I had no idea their services were so high, but I had been saving for the radio replacement for about a year, so I scheduled the work for the following Saturday. I looked at my quote later and decided to check prices on the items I was buying. I went to Walmart.com and amazon.com and found the radio, camera and XM kit for about 70.00 less than quoted, so I called them, told them I was bringing in my own parts and they could install. All good. Then when it was done, the manager tried to charge me an extra $100 for installing my parts. I laughed at that and said, but you stock these parts, and he said, yeah that's crazy, I'm taking that off the bill. What? Then later I go through the bill again, just randomly to see how close to budget I was and I see an item for installation of steering wheel interface 49.99. I called and asked to speak to the manager and I asked him about this item, and told him that I didn't get a steering wheel interface. He excused himself and came back and said, "we're sorry it looks like we made a mistake. Come into the store and we'll give you a refund for that." His tone of voice was not like he was sorry, but that he was pissed." I told him "I live pretty far and could he just do the credit on my card over the phone." He said he "couldn't." I asked for the manager. He said he was the manager, then he said, "okay give me your card number" and I got my refund for the part and service I never bought, that was never even on my quote. I never even got an apology for the bogus charge! To conclude, I could have spent $220.00 more than I had to on my installation and parts if I had not been paying attention. So buyer beware. The sound system is great - that's why I gave them 2 stars, but the idea that I would have been taken advantage of for this amount of money, when I saved a year to get the system - this will stay with me and they won't get any more of my business for sure. read more

I am so happy with the work the Chantilly office did on upgrading my old factory radio in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler, to the Alpine i509-JK as well as a backup camera and BlackVue dash cam. They said it would be an all day job and actually called me about 5 hours later saying they were done. The staff was friendly, helpful and took the time to go over how everything worked. I'm glad to finally see someone review the same issue I have had with my truck after I had the alarm, cameras and remote start installed. Because of the installation not being done properly it has killed several batteries in my truck and my alternator. I had the cameras removed thinking that would solve the problem. My remote start isn't work now so I assume the viper alarm is causing issues for my brand new battery. I paid over $1000 and just want a refund and it taken out of my truck. I have to jump start my truck every day and my horn doesn't work and it's because the installation done incorrectly. I went back to the shop several times and they couldn't fix the issue. I wouldn't recommend this shop. I went because my truck was vandalized and it has caused me more issues than anything. read more

The staff was friendly and nice when I called about a wiring harness & speaker mounting bracket I needed. It was my first time installing speakers in my truck, and I told them I needed a mounting bracket for the rear doors. He observed my speakers and recommended a bracket that would fit. When I got home to install, it was not a mounting bracket, but instead, it was a spacer. I trusted that they would sell me the correct part given I explained what I needed and am not an expert myself. Long story short--I wasted $20 because of a simple miscommunication/lack of understanding--and I had to buy the correct mounting bracket from Crutchfield for another $20. I also live 40 minutes away and don't have the luxury of returning. read more

Thanks again, Mike the Tech, Tim, and Craig for the super job of installing my Dashcams in our Suburban. The Blackview dashcams (front and rear) are so easy to use and we feel (no pun) safer now. Not only do we have a reliable witness for potential accidents to include hit and runs, but I'm waiting to catch one of the perps that go around at night checking car doors for unlocked cars. Between these cams and the two Ring.com devices on the house, we should be able to catch them on video again with a quality video. Great job guys! I ran in today to have someone look at my subwoofer in my Jeep Wrangler. The subwoofer itself was not working because it was not receiving power from the amp. The gentleman that helped me knew exactly what the issue was and it took him less than 15 minutes to rerun the wires and test the amp. Been working with Craig and the Chantilly team over a couple of years to replace my OEM car audio system - used Kenwood and Mosconi electronics, Illusion dash and door speakers, and a JL sub. Also did sound insulation in doors. Craig has always been straightforward laying out a game plan and options - no BS. They used a creative installation to make it work and they stand 100% behind what they do - a couple trip pieces were mistakenly broken (clips, etc.) and they replaced the pieces no question, to my full satisfaction. Awesome Store.  I live an hour away from the Safe & Sound (Chantilly) shop, but decided to make the drive because I was impressed with a picture of their product wall I saw on Yelp.  The picture is not deceiving; the store is set up very nicely.  When I showed up, I was greeted by the store manager, Elias Ventura.  He was very friendly and patient when we talked about my plans for my car.  After we talked, I told him I wanted to walk around the store and look around.  That is when I saw a presentation of all the custom installations they have done; all are extraordinary.  That is when he told me about his installer Matt Schaeffer.  He explained to me that Matt does not duplicate any of his stereo installations and when he gets a car, he can visualize and come up with some insane/crazy/good ideas. Elias and I walked out to my car and tried to picture a custom installation for me.  Everything I asked for Elias said Matt can do it. He kept on stressing that his ideas are not as elaborate as Matt's ideas.  I left the store that day with an appointment to get a full custom stereo installation.   Before my installation date, I met up with Elias and Matt to explain what I wanted for my car.  Matt explained his vision and provided options for what he can do.  I told him that all I wanted is for my space to be practical for everyday use, but something that will stand out and he can decide how he wants to design it. Elias kept me updated with the status of the installation and allowed me to come by the shop to see the work in progress.  Even before the final product, I was very impressed and it made me anxious to see it completed.  When I picked up my car, I was smiling and speechless. The final product is very nice and the sound quality is awesome. Loved the experience. The owner of the store helped me pick out the stereo for our Toyota Highlander and the overall experience was outstanding. The demo unit that I had originally picked out had a defective CD player (they noticed the defect when testing the unit) so they were gracious enough to give me the newer model of the exact same unit at the discounted price of the demo unit -- needless to say, I was very happy with the free upgrade : ). I've been reading about these guys for quite a while. People leave great reviews for the business and a few weeks ago i learned exactly why first hand. I stopped by earlier this month to discuss installing a new touchscreen head unit and a security system for my car. I spoke with Craig. Very straightforward no BS kinda guy. Told him exactly what i was looking for and rather than be a pushy sales guy, he offered suggestions on some things and gave specific reasons why it would be better going with Headunit A vs Headunit B for instance. He did sell me on a slightly more expensive unit but was able to give me a detailed reason as to why it was better, not just tell me this is the better one get this. I was interested in getting an Apple CarPlay compatible unit. Craig took every question/concern i could throw at him and when i was done he presented a nice package deal that i found to be very reasonable. Once we set an appointment up, i came back a week or so later for the installation. I was introduced to Brendan the guy who would actually be doing the work on my car. He like Craig was very professional and was able to take my questions/concerns and put me at ease. All in all they installed a new headunit and a security system/keyless entry in about 6 hours. They had a very nice waiting room with a big screen and bottled water with some comfortable couches. After the installation was complete, Brendan showed me how the items i had installed worked and i was very pleased with the final result. They did a very clean professional job. It was then that i truly got to see why these guys have been in business for as long as they have and get the positive feedback they do on places like Yelp. They are a very reputable business and make no mistake about it when i need new things installed in my car, there is one place and one place only i am bringing my vehicle and that is to Safe & Sound in Chantilly. read more

Extremely knowledgeable about the correct process to find the optimal solution for your goal. In my case, it was getting a great Bluetooth system installed in my girlfriends car. For this, I could not have asked for a better experience than the one Jesse provided. 2. Amazing customer service. I had a schedule conflict come up last minute with a training that I needed to attend in Manassas, but I had already booked my appointment at Chantilly. When I informed Jesse of my conflict, he stepped up HUGE and drove down to the Manassas location to do the install for me since it was just a few minutes from my training. WOW! That is the type of customer service you just don't see anymore. Especially in the DMV! 3. Honesty. I won't bore you guys with the details here, but Jesse identified a problem with the car from previous, non-audio work by another body shop in the area. He took the time to explain it to me and explain how it created problems with the speakers. Rather than take advantage of the situation, he gave me a totally honest and transparent breakdown of the situation, including how he could just reattach the wires to get the speakers working perfectly again.
