Great job(s)! Had two older cars, first is a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the second is a vintage Toyota Hilux pickup. Had the Alpine iLX-W650 installed in each, with a backup camera. Additionally, in the Toyota, they installed new speakers and anti-theft accessories. Both autos came out exceeding expectations! The backup cameras have me soooo spoiled!! I don't know how I ever got along without them. The pickup with the new speakers sounds magically better. I have tinnitus, hearing loss, and am tone-deaf, but the new speakers really opened up the sound. Absolutely amazing. I ordered seat covers for my 2025 Dodge Ram Limited Edition pick up truck. I left a deposit and waited months for the order to arrive and I had to call them to find out the seat covers had arrived. When I brought my truck to Kartunes for the installation, the manager would not let me see the covers before or during installation. When I finally was allowed to see my truck, the order was incomplete, and the seat covers looked awful - they were industrial style for my $80,000 vehicle. I had the manager remove them and I asked for a refund. I've contacted them to ask when will I receive my almost $900 refund and have not heard back from them nor have I received my refund - it's been over two months. read more

I was referred to this establishment by a local body shop for an LED underglow installation. This shop seems to specialize in lighting and audio and this shop definitely delivers! I'm a very controlling and nervous customer but this shop was able to put me at ease during my initial phone conversation by walking me through their thought process for my requested installation. Two things to know right away if you're going to go with this establishment: 1) You must book an appointment and due to popularity that means waiting 1-2 months before they will be able to work on your vehicle and 2) I wouldn't say they are inexpensive, but you are 100% getting what you pay for. When it finally came to installation day, my car was there for a full day (a few extra hours were required) but the wait and extra labor I'm confident are worth it. My car was treated extraordinarily well and the underglow installation is AMAZING. If you need aftermarket accessory and lighting, and you have the patience and want to get what you pay for, this shop is 100% the shop you should be choosing. SCAM ALERT! SCAM ALERT! Background: 01/13/2018 I paid $3,300 for an Alpine X209-WRA with the rearview camera. I've had ongoing issues with the system not turning on as soon as I turned out the car, which was mentioned to the shop, but he stated he would have to see it happen for him to diagnosis it. It was not until early August where my rearview camera went black. The rearview camera would turn on when the rear gate (Jeep Wrangler) would be opened and turn off as soon as I closed it. I called and made an appointment to have "the professionals" take a look at it. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule my first appointment which I called the day of to ask if I could reschedule. The person said yes and rescheduled me (more to come on this later in my review). The day of my appointment, I dropped off my vehicle and he simply said I needed a new camera. He gave me two options: $400 or $800 for a new camera!! CRAZY, because I initially paid $350 for the one I initially got. Not knowing anything about cars/electronics I said fine $800 camera is fine. After realizing I almost paid $4 grand for this system it should not malfunction this early. I called Alpine directly and told them my situation. They advised me they sell parts for these things and referred me to a website. I immediately called the shop back and told him about this website. He said he already checked and they do not sell the part. While on the phone I told him I am on the website and I see the part. The cost for the part is $43. He said let me check....he checked and said oh I see it now....it wasn't there earlier today. LIES LIES LIES!! I was almost scammed in paying $800 for a new camera. It gets worse!! He orders the part...there is a $10 shipping fee (ok whatever). I called weekly to get updates...I wish I asked for the tracking number. FOUR weeks later I call on a Monday and ask...he says oh yea it got here last week. Fast forward to picking up my car...I see the invoice and he added charges: $25 sanitizing fee and $35 no show fee. I get it, we are in a pandemic so I will eat up the $25 fee despite my car being in the same condition as I dropped it off...the shop did NOT sanitize anything! I inquired about the no-show fee. He said I had two no-show fees on my record. I said the last time I was here was back in 2018! He said last month you rescheduled. I said yes I did. I spoke with someone and they did not mention anything about this fee or else I would have made it to my appointment! He said he could not do anything about it! BS! In summary, avoid going to this shop. They will scam you! In addition to this review I am reporting them to my credit card and to the Better Business Bureau, because not only did they try to scam me for unneeded parts, but they adding additional fraudulent charges!! read more

I can't say enough about the service here. The employees are personable, knowledgeable, and willing to explain every single step of the work they do. I had a remote start system installed in my SUV and they supplied the pricing quote (both verbally and via email) and scheduled the appointment with a 2 week lead time. When I emailed to ask questions after the quote had been supplied, my questions were answered immediately (within 10 minutes) and completely. The drop off was painless; I was able to do a key drop off before store hours and they called to let me know they would be done within an hour, then called again to let me know that they were completely done. When I picked up my SUV, the technician walked through the system with me and ensured that I had no further questions. I have been back with multiple stupid questions about my system and they have answered each one, even changing a setting for me, at no additional cost. Since my original installation I have been back to upgrade my system and the second installation was just as painless as the first. I have had a great experience and have referred everyone who has asked about my remote start to them. I will absolutely use them for any and all customizations in the future. read more

I cannot review on pricing as this was a birthday gift from my husband. He was extremely happy with the consult, scheduling, install and outcome. He was super excited to get my car back to me so we picked it up in the evening after the shop closed and asked them to hide the key and when we got there they were still there and drove my car out for me. Either working late or they like me thought LEAVE THE KEY?!?! Haha. Regardless it was nice that KT's delivered the car instead of leaving it for us. I cannot believe the quality of my system now. I literally was cheesing from ear to ear driving it home and to work this morning. Music is my entire life and now that I can enjoy it in the quality of going to a front row seat concert I'm an extremely happy girl. He really nailed it with this birthday gift and chose a great shop to get it turned around quickly and done with great expertise. Truly appreciate it! If you need anything for your car from system, to anything electronic (which I now see they also do) I would highly recommend KTs! I had taken a Sprinter van into them to get a small stereo and also get cameras installed in the rear quarter of the van to check blind spots. After explaining what I wanted the sales person up front said he understood what I was looking for. Dropped off the van for them to start the installation process. Went back to check on the van to see the progress and also to see the camera angle. The sales person told me they had it handled and that no one was allowed in the back. At the time they had not installed the 2 rear quarter cameras and I just wanted to make sure they got the correct angle I was looking for. Well he assured me that they knew exactly what I was looking for and that there was no need for me to explain to his installer the concerned area was that I was trying to view with the cameras. About a week for install and go back to pick up the van. Sales person walked me throw the system and when we got to the rear quarter camera views... well not at all what I was looking for as the viewing area and angle was completely wrong. Satellite radio antenna was mounted on dash and not on top of van so when driving north all the radio does is try to acquire a signal. The monitors for the rear quarter cameras where just double sided taped on to corners of dash and constantly falls off when hitting a bump in the road. Ultimately had to take to another shop to get all this corrected since they were to prideful to own up to their mistakes. Such a shame since they came so highly recommended from a friend that I thought I trusted his judgement on things like this. read more

After deliberating, I decided that I would investigate the possibility of using the current display in my car as a backup cam. As it turned out, Mike was fairly knowledgeable about what it would take to install a backup camera in my 2009 Audi A4 that would work as if it was factory installed. I went ahead and decided to use his services and remarkably he did a phenomenal job at a reasonable price. Background: I recently purchased a car with an after market alpine head-unit pre-installed. I wasn't too fond of a small things about the installation and I wanted to add the BlueTooth and Aux adapters. I read the reviews here and decided to take the car here. Took it into this shop and he checked out the vehicle. Told me it'll cost $300 parts+ 3 hr labor. I asked if I could bring my own parts and he said yeah, our labor cost is $80/hr and if you bring your own parts in it may take longer than 3 hours. I asked for an explanation as to why it would take longer than 3 hours by bringing in the exact same part. He became very rude, turned and walked away saying the total will be $300. Makes a lot of sense, if you don't think about it. Avoid this place. read more

I contacted Kartunes to install a new headunit and backup camera in my H3 as well as all of the Bluetooth, antenna, and OnStar integration wiring, etc that was required. They quoted me a reasonable price and fit me in that weekend. I was going out of town for the day Saturday so I dropped the truck off Friday. My brilliant plan was to pick it up Sunday afternoon when I returned. Kartunes completed the install in about 5 hours on Saturday and called and left two voice mails to remind me to pick it up. When I listened to the voice mails at about 6pm, it dawned on me at that time that I had made a dumb mistake assuming that they would be open on a Sunday. I emailed them at about 6pm Saturday and let them know the situation. I asked if I could just come pick up the truck with my spare key and have them charge my card manually. This was fine except that the truck was parked safely in their garage. However, Kartunes offered to have someone come by on Sunday and pull the truck out of the garage so I could pick it up--despite being closed! That was amazing. When I went to pick up the truck on Sunday it was parked outside waiting for me; however, it would not start. This was not Kartunes fault, but rather an issue with another system I had installed in the vehicle. Nevertheless, I contacted them again and let them know the truck would not start and the owner came by just 15 minutes later to help fix the problem. A few minutes and I was on my way. The new system works great; backup camera is really helpful. No hickups there either. These guys REALLY went above and beyond for me in terms of customer service. I could not be more appreciative of their dedication to me as a customer despite these issues not being their fault. I'd recommend them to anyone and I will be back for my audio upgrades. read more

If there was a 6th star and I would have to pay a fee to grant it, I would... This is my second experience at Kartunes and I had no idea they could out do themselves but they did. I rolled in to the store on a Thursday a bit frantic: I'd just spent 4 hours attempting to install a JVC head unit (my own) into my beater truck before a weekend trip where I'd be driving 12 hours. Turned out my head unit didn't work so I just wanted them to install a new head unit and figure out my strange electrical problems. I waited in line while a guy at the shop showed off some Focal speakers to a potential client. If you don't know, these speakers aren't cheap. You can drop a grand on a set of Focals. I wasn't looking to drop nearly that kind of cash... When it got to be my turn, I found out that the salesguy was actually the owner, Michael. I spoke with Michael and explained my situation. He calmly told me he would be happy to talk to me about head unit choices, but he was booked for the week in terms of installs. I said I really needed to get some kind of sound into my truck otherwise I was going to be in for one hellish roadtrip. And this is where he did something that both blew my mind AND guaranteed that I'd be singing this stores praises for life... He referred me to a competitor... YOU READ THAT RIGHT! He was more concerned with proper customer service than with making a sale. Sure I didn't pull up in my sportscar, but that didn't matter. I was so blown away by this move that I immediately wanted to support his store any way I could. I know what you are thinking, "Well, I mean, they cater to all the exotics in the area, they sell speakers that sell for $900+ a pair... You weren't exactly a high roller so it wasn't going to break him to send you to the competition." And I thought this too at first, but read on!!! It gets better! I ended up buying a really great Alpine Head Unit (which worked fine, JVC Nevermore..) and it was even better than I had hoped. Built in Pandora Controls for iPhone!! I told him I was going home and would try to install it myself. If I had any problems, I'd suck it up over the weekend w/ my ipod and some headphones, and come back and book some time in his shop for the install. He kinda laughed, printed out my receipt pulled out his pen and said, "Tell you what.. You got email right? Here's my email. I check it all the time. You have any problems installing this, drop me a line, I'll be happy to help you if I can." Floored.. FLOORED! I brought a stock 2015 WRX to Kartunes, wanting to upgrade speakers, add amplifiers, add a subwoofer, and keep the stock head unit. Mike and Dan were both professional and polite, listened to what I wanted, asked questions to clarify, let me audition some different speakers in the showroom (with my own iPod, so I could hear music I am familiar with), and wrote me up an estimate. The work got done a few days later, on-time and on-budget. It sounds great, and I have had no issues with the installation. Kartunes worked with the amps and sub box I supplied without complaint, and everything turned out just how I hoped. The price was fair. It wasn't cheap -- I didn't expect it to be -- but it was a lot of work and the hourly rate was reasonable for this area. The car was clean in in good shape when I picked it up. (I have had work like this done before, and it can be frustrating to find the car littered with waste and covered in dust after the work is done.) These guys are great! I've had sound systems installed by them with 2 different cars I've had now. I didn't feel ripped off as a girl, they're down to earth & tell you straight up what you need. Fair prices in a reasonable amount of time. My only advice, when they tell you everything you need to make your car sound awesome and you try to skip out on some things (I turned down a new head unit in my old car), listen to them. Have been back twice since this review and also referred a co-worker. A while back I was looking for a Bluetooth solution for an 05 Cayenne. After discussing various options with Mike, it became apparent a professionally installed solution was not going to be a reasonable solution due to price. Mike suggested I buy a portable version at Verizon, which I did, and it works adequately. Mike did not try to sell me something he knew I didn't need, and turned away business to get the right solution for me. A couple of weeks ago, I had Mike mount a portable XM unit for me in another vehicle. Again, great work without breaking the bank. Guys , buy yourself a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 Dongle and do the diagnostics yourself. I cannot believe the crap I was told. I left a COPCAM in the vehicle and under the hood of the car. Found that this place was not worth the money when it came in installing car accessories. This place charges a security deposit on work being done. They are over priced for installation. Since he saw that I took tint off the window, it was going to be an extra charge of 50 dollars to clean my windows again before tinting, even though I did a great job cleaning them. Was also charged other fees as well. Employees that are working on installations should be working there all day, not be called to come in. read more

I had a horrible experience with Kartunes. I would not recommend them for any type of service. I was offered a settlement of half my money refunded through the Consumer Protection division of Virginia Consumer Affairs but decided I would rather post my experience to warn others of the unethical business practices I experienced when dealing with this company. On May 28th 2012 I was sold an Alpine INE-S920HD stereo/GPS in-dash system. I had a perfectly working Bose stereo but was most interested in the in-dash GPS system. I was told at the time that the Alpine system was not scheduled for release by the manufacturer until late summer of that year. I was quoted a full price of $1,050.00 including installation. I gave Kartunes a $250.00 deposit. They could not provide a written receipt or estimate as they claimed their system was down so I had them state the model and balance due on one of their business card ($800.00). In August of 2012 they contacted me stating the system was not being released as scheduled and they would be back in contact as soon as it became available by the manufacturer. I contacted them throughout 2013 as well as visited the store on several occasions and eventually was told that Alpine was not going to release the model they had sold me. They continued to show me more expensive models that I was not interested in. After my last visit in the fall of 2013 it became evident they were not going to be able to honor our transaction and provide an equivalently priced model with the same features. I repeatedly emailed them commencing in Feb of 2014 and didn't receive my first response until Feb of 2015 requesting a copy of my invoice (I never received). I sent them the cancelled check and copy of the business card. Finally they responded in March of 2015 stating deposits are non-refundable per their store policy and they would offer me a one-time offer for store credit as a courtesy. In the interim I had contacted Alpine corporate and found out the stereo I purchased was on the market back in December of 2012 at the price originally quoted so it was apparent that Kartunes had lied about this fact for two years so I was not interested in a store credit. After contacting the state Kartunes produced invoices never provided to or signed by me in the amount of $1,637.86. I believe the sales rep under priced my original sale, realized it later and lied to avoid losing money on the transaction. read more

Buying and installing vehicle audio equipment is like buying furniture. You are always at the mercy of the installer and he can charge whatever he wants. I have dealt with improper installations done by Meyer Emco and Circuti City (out of business) Installers are a shady bunch. I caught one of them using used speaker wire in an installtion on my Jeep Cherokee. So I was pleased when Kartunes installed the JVC head unit in my wife's Camry. Con: they charged me $100 for an hour install and forced me to purchase a new wiring harness. But the job was done right. read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend in the automotive industry as being the go-to place for car modifications etc. I dropped my car off Saturday morning at 11:00 am, paid for the removal of tint off my front windshield in full ($95) and told him to take his time because I would pick the car up later that night. When I arrived it was very dark so I couldn't inspect the job thoroughly, but I did notice the windshield was quite filthy. It appeared as though they hadn't given it a final wash which wasn't really of great concern to me so I proceeded home. This morning I went out to inspect it further and realized that there was still a very significant amount of tint adhesive left around the entire perimeter (and other various places) of the windshield. Also, I had specifically instructed them to take every precaution necessary to ensure the protection of my leather dash board (2007 E60 M5 extended leather) and there was obvious neglect because I found sticky adhesive strewn across the dash, and upon further inspection, I also found the sticky adhesive all over the steering wheel, center counsel, navigation cubby, etc. The job wasn't completed, my number one concern about protecting the interior was completely disregarded, the windshield is filthy, there is adhesive all over the window and other interior leather components. I realize the fact that they specialize in high end cars and that is why I sought them out, but this job was extremely straight forward; remove tint from a windshield. I wasn't asking them to install a high end system which required challenging demands..again it was a relatively simple tint removal. I am taking it elsewhere to get the job finished and the adhesive properly removed form the leather. I would not take it back to have them correct this even of they offered to refund my money and correct the issue. Why should I give them a second chance when the job was supposed to be done right the first time? I would never tell anyone to stay away from a business. That choice isn't mine, it's the consumers. However, please take this review seriously when considering your options. read more
