If I could leave 0 stars I would prefer that. This place had our car for over 3 weeks, kept saying "oh it won't take long".....sent the estimate to the incorrect email after telling them twice. Then say "oh another week" calls back to some man just mumbling nonsense that is not understandable into the phone, so my boyfriend went in person to talk to them. We hear "oh it will be next week"....he goes back and the car is still sitting in the SAME spot as before. We will be taking our business elsewhere and are considering action for unfair business practices. read more

I called 1 week before to schedule a custom alignment and i told them i have coil overs I go in 1 hr ahead of schedule just in case and also to clarify what i need done . I go in and they start asking me questions that were already answered 1 week ago. I told him i need a alignment and the suspension has to be fixed cause obviously i have coils.I waited almost 2 hrs just for them to tell me oh we didnt touch the suspension but it seems to be a few inches off , which is dumb i wouldnt have a problem if they charged but its crazy for alignment to take 3hrs and still have not touched the suspension at all. The best place to take your car hands down! My RC F doesn't have many places to go for aftermarket parts installations. I was starting to think I would have to drive 2hrs up north to get anything done. Glad I found this place that has worked on RC Fs in the past and truly do their research before quoting me any numbers. Niko worked with me to get my exhaust shipped out to their shop in VA and have a slot for my installation within a week. They worked 5hrs straight to get my exhaust on and once I heard my RC F sing, I couldn't believe it it was my car. Night and day difference. I visited the shop to get a quote to have AirLift suspension installed on one of my cars and to have a turbo and kit installed and tuned on another After a brief discussion in the shop It was determined more info was needed on the turbo kit so I stated I would email the details once I get home which I did with an hr. Waited a week ....no response, it just happens my son visited them and mentioned that I was waiting for a reply to my install request he was told they see my email and will respond. Well I never received a response. We are literally talking about THOUSANDS of dollars of work on 1 car alone (STI) let alone what it would have cost me on the 2nd car for the turbo install. I also have an Infinity G35 Coupe that I want to have wok done on (exhaust, and new coilovers). Considering PTuning ignored me I took the STI to another builder in the area (Mach V in Sterling who will get all my business going forward . Once I locate shop to do the work I want on my other cars they too will get all my business. Horrible way to treat a potential customer PTuning!! I had been to PTuning yearsssss ago but then moved overseas. I've since returned and started modifying my next car and needed an alignment. Before coming into the shop I had called around to other performance shops in the area and was inquiring about cost of alignment. I'm not sure why but I was getting bad customer service via the phone from other companies... not sure if it was because I was a female or what. Anyways Harry at PTuning answered the phone, he was polite and nice and the price was within the range I knew it had been (1 guy tried to charge me a ridiculous amount and I won't disclose that performance shops name). So I figured since PTuning had provided great customer service via phone I'd go ahead and bring my car in knowing that I had been there probably 6+ years ago. I arrived on Saturday for my 1:15 pm appointment and let them know I reallllly had to be out the door by 2:45pm to get to work on time. They were able to get me out the door and understood that I needed to get to work on time. They were professional and checked in with me twice and even consulted with me when we ran into 1 minor thing. All in all another fabulous experience & professionalism with PTuning! Great facility and staff here. The showroom/lobby is very clean and organized - there are lounge chairs to sit while you wait and a bunch of displays of parts to browse. I think it's pretty cool how they have two of their turbo-kitted engines on display in the middle of the showroom floor. Didn't get to see their service area, but I'm sure it's up to the same standards. Staff was friendly and helpful in listening to what I wanted (just needed some wheels rebalanced), and they got it done in a very reasonable amount of time. Straight honest service. Come here for your aftermarket or parts installs, especially if you have a Japanese car (though they will service all makes and models I believe). read more

I've been trying to get my 2001 Trans Am back up and running after it sat for 10 years. Patrick and the group at Ptuning have made this experience a great one. They initially replaced a cam position sensor, repaired a minor coolant leak, and replaced all the intake gaskets. They had that all done in a fairly short time. Still having a misfire, I replaced the injectors and coils myself, then they took it back in to figure out why it was suddenly leaking oil. After that I had the car back and was putting some miles on it to try and clear off whatever was gumming up the intake valve. During this period (about 50 miles), both knock sensor began reporting as bad. I called them on Saturday and they let me drop the car off that day to be worked on later in the week, which made it a lot easier on me since I was going to have trouble finding a ride back home after dropping it off on Monday. Knowing I also have an o2 sensor to replace, I had discussed with Patrick some exhaust work. The next day he sent me an email that had 5 different setups ranging from replacing the stock exhaust with stock parts all the way to a true dual setup from the headers back. Their work is clean, they have very fair pricing, and they always keep you in the loop. I'd highly recommend them. read more

They deserve no praise. They'll gouge the hell out of you, don't stand by their work, and only do what they think needs to be done. Case in point we took our car there to get tuned. They didn't really explain what they were going to do, ended up saying they had to refit the supercharger and replace a bunch of parts. Thousands later, the car didn't not run well and they told us they were going to charge us for a diagnosis. Seriously? You just had the car and supposedly worked on the car, its not running right and you're telling me you want us to pay you again because you didn't do your job right the first time? The dullest spoon in the drawer...keep in mind spoons aren't sharp anyways!! These people actually told me the bottom belt assembly was no longer made by BMW...WHAT? Just because I'm a woman...duhhhhhhh! After a horrible experience at Certified Auto Advantage, I went to PTuning because of the rating...my fault. The top and bottom belt assemblies (belts, pulleys, tensioners) needed to be replaced. They orderd the top set and then said BMW told them the bottom set (A/C set) was not longer being made by BMW and I'd need to go to a BMW service center to complete the work! SERIOUSLY, WOW! I'm still shaking my head and others I've shared this scenario with are laughing. By the way. Although they have a drop box...don't use it. They won't look at your vehicle until the end of the day! I've since went to another repair shop and they fixed my 325XI the same day with no problems! My baby runs awesome...just like before. I bought a walbro fuel pump 255 for my 99 prelude and the install kit. Price was under $120 for both with military discount. Awesome thing to do guys. Great floor layout, knowledgeable staff and easy to access. Cons: the fuel filter came out while I was driving. I understand you didn't manufacture the part but you can be more pleasant when someone calls to complain about a part THEY BOUGHT FROM YOU. The attitude needs work when someone tells you you got something bad or asks for advice on what to do(like what I did). Second, installation prices are through the roof and quality isn't assured regardless of experience or word of mouth so the offer of guarantee and/or warranties is highly recommended. read more

I recently had the guys at PTuning install an electric cutout on my '17 Mustang GT. These guys were all awesome start-to-finish. The project was installed professionally and the switch looks like it was something that the factory installed. P Tuning did a great job fixing my Subaru WRX STI. I would definitely come back for any tuning or mods needed to my car. They performed a very thorough diagnostic on the car and sent key details and pictures of the engine by email, which was very helpful because I live 25 miles away from Manassas. They were easy to work with from the start, patient in answering all of my basic questions about the turbocharger intake and exhaust. Most importantly, the car is running great again. I live in Centreville and didn't know of any shop that was qualified to work on BMW. I didn't want to go to a dealership, since it was expensive and they don't install aftermarket lowering springs. So, I checked around on some of the Bimmer forums and found that Performance Tuning or ptuning as they are known, was highly recommended. I dropped of my 09 BMW M3 @ 10:00am (as scheduled). I told them to take their time. I don't mind picking up the car the next day. By 3:00pm the same day, my M3 was already done. I picked up the car and was extremely with the work and the price was cheaper than some of the other local shops. The only time I saw a facility this nice was the dealership. This place is very nice, clean, and upscale. This was one of the main reason I felt comfortable letting them work on my brand new car. I will definitely be back for any other service. In fact, I may start bringing my wife BMW X5 here too. I'm just so impressed with this place, that I gave them the same review on repairpal.com. You just need to see it for yourself. read more

Cant say much about the work here since i couldnt tell you anything about cars what so ever. I mean seriously i thought the check engine light meant that the car was on. However, my boyfriend is heavily into cars and we had an appoitment here this past Saturday at 1:30 for a tuning and to put the car on the dyno...not sure what that is BUT the guys here were super awesome at working with us because we were coming from Va Beach and got stuck in horendous traffic and didnt arrive until 2:30. Incompetent and/or Crooked I took Sasha (thats my cars name) to this shop last month for what was discovered to be a timing belt and water pump issue. When I got the diagnostic information back I asked them if I needed and could leave the vehicle there. I did not ask them this because I was told about the severity of the issue I simple wanted to out of convenience. They desk guy said it was up to me. So nonchalantly that I didn't feel any need to leave it there since I would only drive the car 30 miles away and bring it back when they had time for the repair. Turns out the technician that diagnosed my car may or may have not recommended I leave the car at the shop. But upon questioning him in the garage he said 'I would have recommended you leave your car here.' What in the world does would have even mean... the 150 dollar diagnostic I paid for should have something as basic as recommendations. If he did tell the desk guy his recommendations that vital information never made it to my ears. I take the car home, didn't move it until it was time to come back for my appointment and on the way my belt and pump both go. Smoke coming out of engine horrible sounds etc. After they push my car into the garage they inspect and say that I need a brand new freaking engine. As you can imagine I am telling them this was a highly avoidable situation had the tech communicated to the desk guy then to me what could happen if those parts go on the way back to them. So here we are them sending me quotes on what a new engine and labor would be. My good friend calls BS's on their assessment and tells me to take the car to a straight up mom and pop garage. I take it to the new shop for a second opinion. 24 hours later I get a call back from the new shop saying you can come pick up your car now. I'm like ummmm I don't need a new engine??? He said no who told you that??? All you needed was your belt and water pump replaced. That random shop ended up saving me nearly to 3 to 4 thousand dollars at the end of the day. So as my title reads... is P-Tuning incompetent or crooks. I'll never go back to find out which. FIND ANOTHER SHOP FOR YOUR CUSTOM CAR NEEDS. read more

I had been waiting and waiting for someone to install camber bolts and align my car and no one seemed to have the time or was interested...through word of mouth, I came upon Ptuning, and was pleasantly surprised! I initially was just going to have camber and alignment done, but ended up having fenders rolled, alignment done,camber done and dialed in, and coilovers lowered . Daniel walked me through the shop(reminded me of the set of fast and furious) and explained the the entire process of adjusting my car to me. Took just a few days and the difference was night and day. I am completely satisfied with the result, the price, the showroom and the staff. Ptuning took care of tuning my Scion tC after I drove up from Georgia....Since I could not find any capable tuner to work with the EMU where I lived within the state. Mike, Toan, and the Ptuning staff have always done a great job of making sure I was up to speed on what the status of the car was during the tuning session. When I make a phone call they always seem to remember my car making it personable and attempt to answer and provide recommendations for parts. I always leave their shop with great numbers in whp/tq gains on the Ptuning RS Spec Turbo Kit. Honestly the only people I trust to tune the tC and build a well put together motor. Got an alignment from another place on 2/2/2016 after dropping my car on Skunk2 Pro-S II Coilovers and the camber was so high, I was scraping the inside of my Fender Liner. Took it to Ptuning and was able to get me in for an appointment the same day. I get there an hour early and they took my car right inside the garage. After the 4 wheel alignment, I was REALLY satisfied. I could tell just by looking at the car afterwards that the camber was negative like it should have been. NO MORE SCRAPING!!! After a near horror story after a suspension install on my 2011 STI at this shop, I have to give credit where it is due... The only reason I will continue to come to this shop is because of their customer service, specifically Patrick. I took the car back after a wheel nearly fell off from not being fully torqued. He was able to issue me a partial refund, recheck the torque on everything installed, adjust my ride height, and do a spot alignment check to compensate the risky situation I was put in. I suggest picking up the phone and calling the shop before judging this shop based off any critical/negative reviews. They are competitively priced, just wish they were closer to home! read more

Purchased a BRZ turbo kit on top of a lot of other parts from them for a self install. Ptuning staff went above and beyond to answer all my questions through email, facebook chat and on the phone. The purchase process was painless as well. Communication from the shop from the status of the shipment to tracking information for each package was great. I was never at a point of questioning where my parts were. They were also extremely accommodating with me changing my mind a few times on a few items during the backorder wait. Wonderful folks, fair pricing, quality work, and a clear love for what they do!!! A little background - took my 2016 ecoboost mustang there last winter, full bolt-ons. This was after many emails with one of their guys Jack, who before taking in a dime helped a ton coordinating with his...car doctors? (I feel like mechanic undervalues them) to help me find parts I want. I was green as grass, and instead of taking advantage of me they lost $ by telling me parts (throttle body in particular) that just weren't needed at my level of build. They managed to get my work done Sat (half day for them) thru Monday and I picked it up that night after hours which made logistics much easier. I offered him a tip, he refused out of pride which speaks volumes. They didn't have the licensing at that time to do EB stang tunes and w/SCT software, but would still dyno at what seemed reasonable - declined @ the time. I ended up being screwed on a crap shelf tune from Bama (they claim custom tune but couldn't handle a few bolt ons without sending me into constant overboost when I push it her! Learned later SCT only programs a fraction of EB stang variables, versus Cobb, which I'll find a tuner for in the future). I was so pissed at Bama at the time I neglected to review PTuning and give these guys their proper due. Well I then was going to Battlefield for my oil changes/etc, and they were aware of my mods. Apparently emptying catch cans isn't standard. Car belching white smoke while idling (known prob esp. w/modded EBMs, hadn't heard till I started investigating). I show up 45 minutes before close today and they do it for me at their standard hours rate on the spot. Catch can was to the brim, and likely some was spilling into intake at that point. Anyway, I sheepishly asked if they will do simple oil changes for customer. Gentleman up front who got me in (missed his name - but he remembered my waste-gate issue from my one time visit 7 months ago!) laughed and said we wouldn't build turbo setups and not service them! And catch can drains are included in oil changes. Long review I know, but I wanted to express how honest and professional these guys are, and how well they treat their customers. For an amateur like me to even see multiple places they could have hustled me and didn't, and all the extra time they spend helping me bring my car alive, I couldn't recommend them enough. I'll stick to trusting shops that build race cars over dealerships any day. A+++, 11 out of 10 stars!!! read more

I've got a 1995 M3 that I take care of with some help from PTUNING. Whenever I need parts, I go to my buddy Ken and he's a great service rep who always finds me what I need at competitive prices. Shipping is quick and every time I've done maintenance, and needed special parts, like bushings, rotors, brake clips, etc., they've always come through. They don't specialize in BMWs per se, but based on my experience with them and seeing some of the 335s and FI M3s they've tuned, I recommend anyone out there looking for a good tune! The shop has a nice layout and they're always playing movies. If you're ever there for longer than a few minutes, there's a foosball table and coffee to keep you occupied. read more

They didn't want to go any higher because they recommended I purchase the injector seals. I believe their labor price is very fair. Took my 07 STI in for a tune. TDO5 20g turbo, frontmount, headers, turbo back 3" exhaust with factory injectors. In shop tuner Toan could only get boost level to 18-19psi and 302 horses and 294 torque. Not much higher than factory levels. These guys may know Scions and Hondas, but may be a good idea to stay away from Subaru STI's. My recommendation use Dan at Mach V Motorsports to Cobb Pro Tune. He was able to get the same numbers out of my 02 WRX with a smaller vf34 turbo. I will never use these guys again for a tune and would not recommend them. The costs for a retune, ridiculous!!! read more

I was recommended to go to PTuning in Manassas for a custom alignment on my car. Since I do HPDE events and Autocross, I have a highly custom suspension on my car, so most shops won't touch it. I had heard great things about PTuning's service and their facility, but I had no idea how great it would be. Their shop is state of the art. The waiting area is one of the best I've waited in, and did not mind the 3.5 hour wait to have 4 tires masterfully mounted and balanced and a spot-on, perfect alignment performed. The last tire shop I used required 21g of weight on one of the wheels to balance it, and they were just barely able to get my suspension within alignment specs. PTuning not only took my own custom alignment settings, but they got the final readings DEAD ON! The settings I provided a range for they hit the dead center of the range, and were identical on both sides of the car. The Showroom is also fantastic. They have a huge selection of aftermarket performance parts and accessories in stock, and ready to buy. And the best part, is they can carefully and expertly install them for you if you're not confident in your abilities. Pros: - They are the only shop I've ever been to that has been able to get perfectly Zero Toe on an alignment (0.00 deg, on BOTH front wheels)! - They use the exact same tire mounting and balancing equipment that Ferrari uses in their factory, so you KNOW you can trust the balance! - They use a top-of-the-line, in-ground alignment rack that is specially designed to accommodate lowered cars, complete with wireless pads and amazing accuracy! - The technicians are great, very friendly and never hesitate to offer their advice, or stop and chat for a few minutes while you're waiting. - The waiting area is very comfortable, and is complete with free WiFi access (so bring your laptop!), a flat-screen TV with Movies (albeit a fairly limited selection, but they'll play one you bring, as long as it's not offensive), and a PS2!! Oh, and they've got complementary beverages for their service customers and vending machines. There is a pretty good Deli within walking distance as well, if you're waiting a while. - ALL-WHEEL DRIVE DYNO!! Cons: - They are hard to spot if you don't know where to look, but they're right off Rt 28, just south of Old Town Manassas, 1 block past Stonewall Rd (heading South). - No, they're not the cheapest game in town, but their prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the workmanship you get. Their retail prices on performance parts and accessories are competitive to other shops in the area. Remember, when going to an Enthusiast oriented high-performance shop that builds Time-Attack Track Cars, you're going to have to pay to play! - They do take their time, so expect to wait longer than you would at Sears or Merchants, but see above, the extra wait is worth it. - They are a heavily Scion oriented shop, and actually design, and build forced induction and performance parts for various Scion models, so if you don't have a Scion, they might not be able to get parts as quickly, but will be able to work on anything - See above note about the All-Wheel Drive dyno. Bottom line: If you are a car enthusiast, tuner-head, gearhead, road racer, weekend autocrosser, or just want the best performance out of your street car, give PTuning a whirl, they'll impress you.
