On a Thursday morning I dropped my daughter off at school and heard a hissing noise to realize the valve on my tire was leaking air, they were the closest place .4 miles away and I am SO happy they were there to help me I could not thank them enough!! Me and my husband are from Aldie but happened to be in Manassas because our kitten had to go to the emergency vet nearby. We dropped our kitten off and had some time to spend and decided to get our oil change while we were waiting. We passed by Dominion Auto Repair on our way to the vet so we called them to see their price on oil change. However when they picked up they immediately mumbled something and placed us on hold. I was clueless on what just happened and had to ask my husband what he said. Lol. After 5 minutes I decided to hang up and look elsewhere. LO AND BEHOLD! Old Town Auto Repair! As soon as they picked up the phone, the man on the other line had such a friendly warm voice when he answered. He answered my questions and said they were available to take us in as soon as possible. When we came in, there was a beautiful golden retriever waiting to greet us! Haha. RILEY! I took my Chevy Colorado to this place which was recommended by a friend from church. My truck had a check engine light that wouldn't go away and the Chevy dealer couldn't get it fixed. They told me "it was not that important". I don't know exactly what these guys did but they solved the issue after finding out thru a careful diagnosis. Most importantly since I could not renew my registration because emissions testing was due and in Virginia you cannot run emissions with a check engine light on. I was able to renew my registration and stay on the road and work. This place kept me on the road and I'm grateful for that. The price was also very reasonable and the mechanic, Enrique was very patient and dedicated, these guys actually cared about my problem which was very unexpected for me, they got the job done. The starter on my car decided to finally go on me. It was no crank, no start. I've lived in the area now for about 3 years but didn't have a reliable mechanic. I requested a quote for the starter and John was extremely quick to respond. He was extremely helpful through the process, the quote was accurate, and the work was completed before the time given. They even let me leave my husband's car in the lot until later that evening when he arrived home. I believe I now have a new trustworthy mechanic! I made the roadtrip from Chicago, IL to Manassas, VA a few weekends ago in my 2003 Jeep Liberty. At first, upon arrival to VA, I felt a sort of 'resistance' when I would turn and brake, but that went away. However, I would smell a faint burning smell whenever I was done driving. Since I don't know this area, I did a search on Yelp (thanks again Yelp!) on 'auto repair' in Manassas, VA. Olde Town Auto Repair came up with great views. Boy, am I glad I went. I pulled into the repair shop around 930am on Saturday. I told the guy at the front desk that I made this long road trip, I had a spin out in a snow storm shortly after leaving Chicago, and now there is a burning smell. I asked him how much it would cost to just look at it. He asked me if I would like an oil change; that way, he wouldn't be just charging me to 'look at it' without doing anything and they would check over the whole vehicle for me during the oil change. Sounds good. He came back said that my rear brakes and rotaries were out and that it was metal and metal I was hearing and smelling. He estimated $450 and they could fix it right then for me. He was very informative, and even brought out my old brake pads to show me in comparsion what they looked like compared to the new ones they were installing. Then he came back later on and informed me that the rotaries (?? or whatever they are called) are fine and they wouldn't have to replace them. This was pretty awesome of them, because I have heard horror stores about repair shops that will do anything to stretch the labor hours. He could have easily just left it as is and gotten an extra $100 for labor. $300 and 2.5 hours later, I have a fresh oil change, new brakes, and a peace of mine. read more

I took my work van here after researching this place on Angie's List. I've always been reluctant to take my cars to a mechanic because I've never really met a mechanic I could trust. This has actually made me research and learn how to do a decent amount of repairs. This time around my work van was vibrating and knocking when driving. I changed the ball joints (upper and lower), tie rods (inner and outer), wheel bearings, u-joints, rotated and balance wheels, etc. STILL vibrated and knocked. I finally gave in, dropped my work van off overnight at their shop and all in all the experience and cost was what I expected. I was charged about $840 to replace rear brakes, bearings, and rear trans axle gearbox. Finally the vibration and knock went away. Initially, they thought it was just the brakes and bearings, but ended up calling me to inform me of the additional work. I authorized it and everything was done the next day. They honored my Angie's List coupon at the last minute and their work comes with a 12 month warranty or 12K miles (whichever comes first). It's been a couple months now, so far so good. I'd take my vehicles here again if it was something beyond my capability. Lastly, as for their customer service, I felt like they had explained everything efficiently and overall seemed honest and were upfront with their work. read more

They were super-friendly and went over all the reasons that the model I was looking at wasn't a practical choice. I am torn here. On the one hand, these guys seem to run a really professional shop, on the other hand, they really just f*ed up and I feel obligated to write about it. I had them inspect a jeep that I was looking at buying, which I subsequently bought. 500 miles later in New York when going to register the car there (where I live), the jeep failed state inspection with both a leaking rear brake line and leaking front axle. Its a bad feeling when you put $10k down into a car that then fails inspection. Repairs cost $400 and I can kind of understand how they could maybe have missed it (a recent car wash could have washed away the drip marks), but probably necessary to relay this experience to others. Again though, the other side of this is that these guys do seem very very competent, and I wish I could report only a good interaction with them. $400 of unknown repairs a week after buying a car though is not really a good thing though. read more

I just had my car serviced by this shop. Granted, my car had a series of issues (3 check engine codes) and was running pretty rough. The service advisor called me and asked about any and all recent work. I went through the history. They then proceeded with their diagnostics. I was called prior to them replacing a part that was going to cost $419 (EGR valve - directly from Mazda). Actually, what surprised me, was that the parts mark-up was minimal as this part for my to buy from Mazda is nearly $400. Some shops mark up their parts prices 100-300% ... been there, done that. The part didn't arrive until later in the day until expected, so the work couldn't be wrapped up that day. Again, I got a courtesy call prior to the end of the day informing me of the status. The next day arrived. I gave them a quick call shortly before noon. The part had been installed and the tech was tracing through some of my vacuum lines. My car (Mazda) has 21+ feet of vacuum lines with several connectors. The tech resolved the issue and my car was finished prior to the end of the 2nd day. What surprised me the most, was that I wasn't charged an additional dime for the tech to sort out the vacuum line issue. The price I paid in the end was the same price that I was quoted the day before when they asked about proceeding with the $419 part purchase and installation. Simply put, my vehicle with 144,500 miles is now running like a baby again. She's purring just as smooth as she was on the day I bought her 8 years ago. I've also had past dealings with this repair shop. About 15 years ago, they spent many hours of diagnosing some electrical issues on my vehicle. In the end, it turned out to be the ECU (computer) that was bad from General Motors. The located and installed an after-market computer for me and I never had another issue with that vehicle for the next 3-4 years until I sold it. I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone in the Prince William / Western Pr. William county area. I've been to many shops over the years. This one is about as good as it gets. read more

Once they had a look at the car and let us know the many things it needed we were trying to decide on what work we needed to get done now and what we would have to wait on (we did waffle a bit) the guy got very annoyed very fast. Despite my apologies, thanks for getting us in and brining the car back for more work another day the main guy working the desk was cold and ended up being quite rude. The customer service led us to find another garage in Woodbridge that was better and worth the drive. read more

I had my son take my car to Olde Towne Auto for a safety inspection. They told him that the passenger wiper was ripped and needed to be replaced. They wanted $21.95 to fix it. We informed them that we could get the wiper for a lower price at Walmart. The mechanic finished the inspection. When we went to pay, we were informed that the car failed inspection because of the wiper. The mechanics had all went to lunch and would be back in an hour. We were also told that we could not drive the vehicle unless it was to another repair shop. Walmart or Auto Zone was not an actual repair shop and we would need to wait for the mechanics to get back to fix the wiper. Which upon inspection, had a half inch rip in the bottom of the passenger side wiper. The mechanics finally returned and fixed the wiper for $16.95, $5.00 less than it was an hour ago. Why wasn't it $16.95, from the beginning??? Our car finally passed inspection. I will never be going back to this place again. read more

First, let me start by saying that I always say I need to save the life of a good auto mechanic because they are so hard to find. The team at Olde Towne Auto are truly the best! From offering me a ride and a company car to, finding me a working seat belt for my Mustang at $200 dollars less than a new one. They are always friendly and easy to talk to. Once I had a brake issue the day after they fixed my brakes and they made sure to fix it right away and apologized for not fixing it all the way the first time. It was a simple loose hose. They alway take care of me and my families cars. People are people and we all make mistakes but they made it all better and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for good work, at a good price with great customer service. I pass their shop every day on the way to work and SWEAR that I will NEVER do business with them again. A few years ago I had an idle problem with my Dodge sedan, and I took it there. I had an intermittent rough idle problem. I paid for a diagnostic test, (which showed nothing), and was told that a "tune up"--new plugs and wires, was needed. It was expensive, so I hesitated to have it done. Several days later, the car started doing the same thing again, and I immediately drove it to Olde Town Atu Repair for the technician to see. They would'nt be bothered to even go outside and listen to the engine. "You need the tune up" was the response. I never went back. Best to avoid these non-caring people. read more

I then called piedmont auto in gainsville and the said they would the same job for $1200. So when I brought my car to Piedmont they said it does not need struts. All it needed was a new tire. Well, I decided to go for a safety inspection for my Mazda6 (bought in March, 2017), having only 23000 miles on it. I figured it would pass inspection with flying colors, but oh no, I was wrong. It failed because of the brakes. The brakes work just fine and the inspector admitted as much, but the inspector asserted that there is lots of rust on the rear rotors, and gave my car a fail inspection sticker as a result. I looked carefully, and did not see any rust (I saw some tiny score lines, but no rust). I also checked the precise rules for brakes, under section 19VAC30-70-440 - Service Brakes, and did not find anything regarding rust on the rotors being a reason for failing the brakes, even assuming that my rotors have a lot of rust on them, which they do not have in any event. So, if you want an ultra-detailed safety inspection which will likely fail your car for just about anything, go to Olde Towne Auto Repair; otherwise I would recommend going somewhere else. The dog Riley in the waiting area is a nice dog, I must admit. I went to another place the next day and the car passed with flying colors, by the way. read more

Man this place is horrible. They put after market parts in my car that didn't fit right. Then tried to defend the aftermarket parts until I mentioned that the quality guys at Aamco corrected all issues(old town auto put the incorrect starter, and flywheel in my vehicle and over torque some parts. My car ended up worst than when I took it there, making all sorts of noises. Avoid at all cost. Very thankful for the guys at Aamco in Manassas on crestwood. Quality work. Old town auto does not take pride in their work. First thing they said when I call to inform them of their mistakes was, "did you get rid of it yet?" Never again. This use to be a great place to bring your car for automotive repairs.They were very customer friendly and quite knowledgeable but lately the customer service has been awful. I am a repeat customer and now when I drop my car off I have to call them to find out information about it. I am extremly dissapointed in the poor customer service they are exhibiting. Best experience I have ever had with a repair shop. I had to get a CV joint replaced on my Subaru Impreza after driving with a torn boot for over a year. The regional estimate average for parts and labor was a solid buck fifty over what these guys charged me, and for a solid job too. They highlighted some other repairs they recommended but never pushed anything on me. When I went to pick up the car I also had a very solid conversation with one of the older guys there. I feel incredibly comfortable here and well taken care of. Repair shops are a dime a dozen these days but a place where you will be spoken to with respect, honesty and some true knowledge is a rare find. Take advantage of it since it's here. read more

I have been using Olde Towne Auto Repair for about 1 year now. I take my Jeep to them for all the checkups and state inspections. So far I have not had any problems. They even let me use a shop car for free so that I did not have to sit at the shop all day waiting on the repairs. Just recently, I started having issues with my tires. They are only 3 years old (tread still looks good) but I cannot keep air in them. At first I had to fill them up once a week. I took my Jeep to the shop to have them look for leaks (I thought that it wasn't just a nail because all the tires were experiencing this issue) and for my normal vehicle checkup. When I paid they did not address the tires with me. They just said that they did not find anything wrong (no holes, nails, etc.). The next week, my driver's side front tire went flat. I had to put my spare on. I called the shop and asked them to look at my tires again. This time they said that the rim is causing the issue. They used a sealant and told me that should fix the problem. After that, I had to fill up my tires periodically. Then this last weekend, my driver's side back tire went flat. I used Yelp and looked up another auto repair shop in the area. The other shop showed me that air was coming out in the place where Olde Towne had told me it was. The entire rim was blowing bubbles where they had sprayed soapy water to show me the area leaking. Air was even coming out of the stem on two of the tires. The new shop is sanding down my rims (to remove any built-up rust) and will apply the sealant and install new stems where needed. I have had good service at this shop up until this point. That is the only reason why they received three stars from me. I just am disappointed that they sent me on my way twice with tire issues. Because of this incident, I will be taking my vehicle to the other shop that I found from now on. read more

HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!!..Don't go here!! I took my vehicle there to have a simple safety inspection and they charged me over $600 to put in a couple lights and replace an ABS sensor. Their customer service is the worst and they seem like SHYSTER MECHANICS that are RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!! Everytime I would call there to try and get a break-down of the charges they were very rude on the phone and trying to get information from them is like pulling teeth.
