We had them look at and evaluate an aging Mercedes to see the ROI on repair versus letting it go. They were honest and helpful in assisting us with that decision (btw it was to let it go, very sad face). Second, they assisted with repair of our other vehicle. They are helpful and knowledgeable. I was looking at a used car in Sterling and (of course) wanted a pre-purchase inspection before I handed over a pile of money for it. Yelp led me to GT Peace Automotive and holy crow, these guys are the best. I called before leaving RVA and Shawn answered right away. I apologized for the short notice, but he completely understood ("These are always short notice!" he said.) and I told him roughly when I'd be there given the vagaries of traffic on I-95 and the beltway. Shawn was completely unfazed, showed genuine interest in the 4Runner I was interested in and revealed himself to be a heart-felt car-guy. Just the kind of people I want to work with on my cars. I arrived pretty much when I thought I would. He assigned Scott, a 4Runner specialist who's active on the 4Runner boards online and builds offroad rigs for people. He went over the condition with me carefully and we had a great discussion on the used car in question, on my old 4Runner and what I might be able to do to fix it, and some philosophical speculation on the nature of automobile enthusiasms and the pluses and minuses of... well, you get the idea. They charged a very reasonable fee and spent two hours going over the car and discussing options with me. It was a valuable experience and I dodged a bullet on a car that _appeared_ to be pretty solid. As it happens, I found another car later that evening, drove up AGAIN the next day and had them inspect that one, a completely different kind of car... a Benz diesel... since I'd decided to repair my old 4Runner. A Mercedes master mechanic on staff checked it over and gave it two thumbs-up. I bought it and am loving it. These guys are a national treasure if you're the kind of person that wants to deal with thoughtful, communicative car enthusiasts. Needed oil change and spark plugs on my vehicle. GT gave me the best price compared to 3 other auto shops. Spoke with Freddy on the phone and he was able to answer some questions and schedule me for service. Wife's car go a flat day before appointment and GT offered me a free loaner car so I could drop my car off and then take care of my wife's car. I also had the dreaded "CHECK ENGINE" light come on 2 days before drop off and they were able to check it out as well. Gaylen was great with explaining everything and he was always prompt in letting me know what was going on. Car had to be left overnight due to a part not being on hand and they let me keep the loaner car overnight. Upon pick up Gaylen explained that the "CHECK ENGINE" light needed to be reset because there were several codes flashing and they did not want to start guessing which I appreciated. Some shops would have given me $3,000 estimate to repair EVERYTHING so I'm glad they didn't just look at me as a giant $. He said the reset was temporary and to bring in the car if/when the light comes back on asap so they can get an accurate diagnosis and go from there. Saw in a group on Facebook that they had a deal running back in the beginning of summer for lift kits. I called them up a few weeks ago and they said they could still honor that price and do the installation and everything for me. I dropped my truck off yesterday evening using their drop box (very safe) and today they installed the lift and did an alignment for me. Tldr; Top notch! Great service and pricing. Do not hesitate to bring your performance cars here! I had heard a ton of good things about this shop from various sources. When a friend was looking for somewhere to get regular service done on his Volvo, I told him to check them out. He was super pleased with the price and service. So when it was time for me to get some more stuff done on my Audi, I reached out to them to get a quote while checking with one of my regular performance shops. Not only was the quote almost half the price, but they could also schedule me in a couple of days, for what would be a most of the day affair. I was getting quite a bit of work done on my car; a scheduled service which is a few hours of work, installing 4 different differential and transmission mounts/inserts, and a supercharger pulley upgrade so I could go stage 2. While they had my car on the lift, they brought me out to show me some really uneven wear on my tires. I immediately checked my sources for a new set, but found they were back ordered for a few months. GTP checked one of their local sources and found a set for the same price I could, so we setup an install for a few days later. My original plan was to catch up on work for an hour or so, then get a ride back to my office. I ended up getting comfortable and working for over 4 hours there before taking off. I was only gone less than 2 hours before I got a call saying that they were done. When it came time to pickup and pay, there were no surprises. Everything was what they said it would be from the quote. I went back for the tire install a few days later, and that was just as smooth. Barely paid anything over the cost of the tires themselves. They are definitely going to be my go to shop going forward! read more
