We hit another vehicle in our Toyota Avalon and had damage from the front bumper all the way down the side of the car. Mr. Kim and Roger did a very thorough job of evaluating the damage and explaining carefully what our best options were, including finding an excellent deal for us to replace our tires with new Michelines that we needed. They worked up a detailed estimate for us to fix the damage and they delivered on what they estimated, carefully explaining everything. This is the second time we have had our car repaired after a minor accident and it was repaired for a very fair price. I was in recently for a fender bender, each party taking care of their own damage. I received an estimate that was more than fare and in less than a week's time, my car was back in my possession. I was apprised of what the repair would entail and they worked with my insurance on my behalf. Everyone at Autohaus is lets you know everything up front, no surprises. My family and I have been bringing pur used cars here for many years. My Hyundai was no longer serviceable under the original new car warranty, and I needed to replace pretty much the entire brake system. The car needed calipers and rotors, and this shop had done similar work for my Mom's Honda. Foreign cars are not the most inexpensive type of vehicles to repair, and these mechanics have always given us very reasonable prices. Their mechanics are also highly skilled technicians, and nobody in my family has ever had an issue where they needed to bring their vehicle back after these guys had completed their work. This repair shop is top notch and they are very honest about their work. I had a bad deep scratch on my car in September 2022 and did not wish to use insurance They fixed it beautfiully and allowed me to keep the car there while I was on vacation. Then, in July 2023, I had an awful accident where my wheel fell off while I was driving. This time, I went through Progressive -- which is awful -- very inattentive service. But went back to Autohaus due to the great work they did in September. Mr. Son went through the estimate to show me they were not paying for the mechanical damage, so we had to bird dog that with progressive and he was very very helpful. Dropped the car off on a Monday and had it back Friday! it looks beautiful. He put new tires on which I had to do due to the damage from the wheel falling off and was very communicative with me. They even gave me a ride to get my car rental. Very good shop. Great rates and they know the good insurance companies and the bad ones. read more

Visiting a body shop is never fun. Nor inexpensive. So... the best one can get away with is good customer service and and a speedy repair. I somehow managed to catch my front bumper on some bricks while parking recently, and it totally did a number on the thing. Enough so, that I figured it required a new bumper. Sometimes, I hate being right. As expected, the whole thing would have to get replaced, and whenever a bumper goes, it's gotta get painted, and that's always another chunk of change on top of the cost of parts. So, when I called up my regular mechanic for some advice on local body shops, two turned up: Autohaus and Matchless Body Works. So first thing Monday morning, I tried stopping by Matchless when they opened, only to discover that they don't start doing estimates until an hour after they open. Huh? Then, another lady walks in and speaks with the employee there about her vehicle, and I overhear that it's going to be around Thursday that they'll have her bumper done. Uggghh. Sorry, some of us still believe in (virtually) instant gratification. Off to Autohaus I went! Not only did I get an estimate on the spot, along with a write-up breaking down all of the parts required and the cost of labor, I was informed that my car would be ready by Tuesday, or Wednesday at the latest. And so it was! The pricing ended up being exactly what was estimated, and I had my vehicle back Wednesday afternoon. These folks do as they say, and say as they do. I -think- there was a new scratch left on my car where there wasn't one before when I got my vehicle back, though. I'm about 80-90% certain, because someone else had recently fixed up my paint job a couple months back. Really, I'm not vain enough about my wheels to care enough to deal with it, but if you're that type... be careful. It might not hurt to snap pictures before and after you bring your car here. As far as I'm concerned, they did a reasonable job at a price that wasn't outside of my expected range. Good enough for me! read more

Lesson Learned!!! Someone broke a tail-light cover of my Honda CRV in my condo neighborhood recently. No idea how it happened, but it was apparent that the cover needed to be replaced in order to pass inspection. I knew I would be paying out-of-pocket for this. I first contacted a Honda dealer and was quoted a jaw-dropping price. At my wife's advice to comparison shop, I returned to Autohaus (as a previously satisfied customer with their painting of 2 vehicles) and sure enough, David was able to order a replacement cover for much less than I was originally quoted by the dealer. Plus, the Autohaus hourly labor costs are significantly better than a dealer's would be. The job was completed and once again I am glad that I went to Autohaus. And if needed once again, I shall return! read more

Autohous of Herdon, VA. My advice: Avoid this body repair shop if you can. I am a 75 years old retired engineer and consider myself a car-guy. I have been dealing with all kind or car repair shops in Northern Virginia for all my adult life. Dealing with Autohous has been by far the worst and most unpleasant experience. I brought my car for a very simple paint correction job (no dents or scratches). I ended up with a worse paint condition that before. It was obvious that blending the new color with the original one was unsuccessful, as the shade of the used paint was off. On top of that, about 1-inch new scratch was created adjacent the paint correction area. It seemed that clear coat was sprayed on the scratch in the hope it disappears. In addition to not acknowledging the bad paint correction job, they refused to fix the scratch they created in their overcrowded shop, claiming that it was there before they received the car. To make a long story short, I ended up spending over $1,200 at Maaco just to fix what this unprofessional shop did. Lessoned learned: (1) just because a shop is in your neighborhood and your desire to support local businesses is no guarantee that the shop will reciprocate your good intention. (2) When you are enticed, as I was, by relatively lower cost estimates, probe harder about the resources of the shop to do quality work. There is a reason for the saying "you get what you pay for." (3) The big mistake I made was paying the bill in full prior to inspecting the final work. To add insult to injury (I acknowledge it was due to me dropping my alertness - I should have known better) I paid by a debit card, as opposed by a credit card or check. Thus, I could not rush to my bank and put a hold on the payment (practically, I became a captive customer or a sitting duck). (4) Finally, character matters. Get a feel of the character of the person(s) you are dealing with. The person I dealt with at Autohous (the owner, I presume), despite his calm and soft demeanor, turned out to lack the basic human decency when came to resolving differences. My interaction with this man left me doubting if he even has any moral compass (I take no pleasure in rendering such a harsh judgment, but I feel compelled to do so - sorry) read more

I had my Honda repaired twice and the quality of workmanship is much less than expected. I had to go back several times to address the obvious improper repairs. Owner says it is plastic bumper so it would not fit perfect and you should expect the gaps. The gaps are large enough that it bothers me and I didn't want to argue further as my time is more valuable. I would not take my car there anymore. Also the parts are charged 4X from carparts.com and understand they have to make profit but they think we don't know the true cost of parts. read more

Taking your car to the mechanic sucks, no two ways about it. It's like going to the doctor- you can never truly be sure if you really *do* need all those medicines and procedures, and at the end of the day it boils down to how much you trust your doctor to look out for your best interests. Same with your mechanic- chances are you have no idea if your car actually has all of the problems that your mechanic says it does, so it comes down to trusting your mechanic. I trust the guys at Autohaus, and that's a pretty rare thing to find with mechanics. I've taken my Subaru Outback in for normal (and some abnormal) maintenance and have never once felt lied to, cheated, swindled, or mislead about what was wrong and what was needed to fix the problem. They always outline exactly what is wrong with my car, exactly why it is wrong, exactly what is needed to be done to fix it, and if there's an alternative to fixing it they will mention that too. I've brought my car in for an oil change and mentioned that my fan belt was squealing- they come back and tell me it's because it was loose, and they tightened it up, no charge. Most recently I had them check my brakes to see if they needed to be fixed- turns out my front brakes are fine and my rears need replacing within 3000 miles. There's no hard sell- they just laid out the facts, gave me an estimate on the job (which was substantially lower than other shops), and let me decide what to do. Most mechanics I've been to over the years would have pressured me to replace the brakes NOW NOW NOW, but not Autohaus. The only downside to this shop that I've found is that they're small, so sometimes they get busy. They might not be able to get to you today if you're a walk-in, so I highly suggest calling ahead to make an appointment. Also their parking lot is *teeny* and can be hard to navigate (something to consider if you have a huge car). *edit* Turns out that with my brakes, the front ones actually did need changing- I had taken it in for an oil change and they just checked the brakes as part of their 15 point check. So, if there's something that you really think is wrong, SPEAK UP to make sure they go over it with a fine toothed comb. I ended up having them replace pads on front and back, new rotors on the front, and turned rotors on the back, and it cost about $300 less than what they quoted me on the phone a few weeks prior to the service- which is always awesome! read more

I had my worst experience ever with the jerks (and that's the mildest word I can think of) who run this operation. I brought in my car for some simple repairs to a wheel that was making a strange sound, was charged slightly less than $300 and, within a week of them doing work on it THE WHEEL FELL OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. They refused to apologize, refused to fix their own problem and refused to even refund my money. Stay away from this business at all costs. It is terrible. read more

I need some body work done I found Autohaus from the internet. I figured I give them a try, and they had exceed my expectation. I also did not know that they also do mechanics work, but it is a great thing that they did. I shopped around from many known and mom-n-pop place for a water pump replacement. The price range from most is around $700-$850 and most will charge additional $200-$300 more to also replace the timing belt. Eventhough to change the waterpump you will need to remove the timing belt. Autohaus quoted me $570 and parts only for the timing belt replacement. I am glad I went to them I trust the workmanship and the price given. I would go to read more

I have used AutoHaus several times, mostly for body work. Their prices are good, and they do the work. They seem to take care of problems after the fact although they did charge. It was somewhat my fault though because I travel a lot (months at a time) and did not catch the problem until 3 months later. In summary, good price, good work, and follow-up when needed. read more

I chose Autohaus after reading the great reviews on yelp. James was amazing and so helpful through the whole process of repairing the damage to my car. I've never had an accident that required work on my car or to deal with insurance, and James was happy to explain what I should do or what to expect. He made sure to check in with me on the status of insurance approval and getting my repairs done, and most importantly he remembered me and my situation every time I spoke to him. The work came out flawless and car looks great. Too bad the other non damaged side doesn't look as great! Most helpful, I was able to leave my Enterprise rental car there when I picked my car up, since they have a partnership with Enterprise. I went in to have my headlights replaced. They took about an hour and a half and when they were finished, my car had another problem...the bottom plate had come loose. it was clear that these people were responsible as I took the car to the dealership to have it looked at and within 2 minutes after looking at the plate, they said someone had loosen the screw beneath it. On top of all of this, Autohaus charged me over 200 dollars to have the lights replaced even though i bought the lights and brought it in to them. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! read more

Can I give 0 stars? These guys are terrible and should not be allowed in the business of working on cars. I brought my car in for a simple brake pad install and rotor resurface. Got it back and everything seemed fine until I needed to brake at higher speeds. There is a horrible vibration while braking, obviously they messed up. I brought the car back and they said they didnt have time to fix it and to come back. Make time to fix it, show a little customer service; they obviously have no passion for cars or the people that own them. Roger is a decent guy as far as I can; but he wasnt there and now I'm left with a car that I dont feel comfortable driving until they actually take the time to fix their mistake. You obviously dont know what you are doing if you cant properly resurface a rotor. Dont bother with these guys, there are plenty of mechanics in Herndon. read more
