Was recommended to try this place by friends and finally got around to it and I'm glad that I did. The cuisine is authentic Egyptian seafood. I ordered the grilled scallops to go for $34.95. They're not grilled and they did not taste good. The quality was not fresh and the scallops seem discolored. I couldn't eat it and threw it away. 5 scallops for that price is a rip off. I decided to give Sandy's a chance since I always go to Abuqir a few doors down. We made a quick stop to walk around Queens on our way to the airport and when we saw this restaurant, it had a Michelin star sign on it. I couldn't believe it as the restaurant was not what I had in mind when I think of Michelin star. I had to go in and try them out, and I do not regret it! We have eaten at Sabry's many times and always had delicious meals. My favorite is the shrimp taojine, which comes in cast iron and bubbling. The whole fresh fish that you pick from the ice is excellently prepared and all come with rice. I'd rate Sabry's four and a half stars. Came here for dinner with my wife and friends on a Sunday night. Seated immediately. The restaurant has display right in the middle with the fishes and lobster available. They start you off with their buttery pita and a simple salad. Pita was a hit that everybody loved. Salad was light and refreshing with some cumin which gave it an interesting twist. Next, we shared the grilled octopus and the steamed mussels in a red sauce. Octopus didn't quite have the char that I was hoping for but it was seasoned nicely. Mussels were huge and meaty. I'd go with the mussels over the octopus or maybe ask for the octopus to be well done. For the main course, we shared a branzino Egyptian style, the mixed tajine, and fried sardines. I'd skip on the Egyptian style preparation. I understand there is a fine line between charred and burnt, but I think that line was unfortunately crossed here. The inside of the fish was juicy and perfectly cooked. The head was good too and the fish deboned quite easily. Sardines were a surprise hit. Very easy to eat. They picked apart nicely the spine came right out. Tajine seems to be the signature dish. It's a red sauce pot which we had with calamari and shrimp. I platted it over their rice. Super filling and comforting. Service was quick and attentive. There is one gender neutral restroom which is up about five steps. read more

So a seafood restaurant 2 doors down was recommended, but the line was too long, not much seating and they didn't take reservations. Since we were starving, luckily this restaurant had seats available right nextdoor and look like a local gem. Sure was! First of all they serve you these huge freshly made pita breads, and it's an open kitchen so that's always nice to see. We had to order their baba ghanoush to eat w the pita and it was delicious. The owner recommended trying their Egyptian bbq style , so I got the sea bass. Was really good, large serving for a great price. Only issue for me was a little burnt. But served with their traditional rice and a nice refreshing salad. Also they have a special seafood bake platter that also was recommended and I'll definitely come back to try, when I'm hungry because we saw it come out the oven and it looked amazing! Wow staying at a hotel across the street from Sabry and tried it out. The place is small but as soon as you walk in there is a huge lobster tank followed by a display of Fresh Fish in ice. We ordered a whole Bronzino grilled Egyptian style which did not disappoint with a salad and a soup like shrimp in a tomato based sauce which came with rice on the side. We were going to ordered a red snapper but the server said it would be too much food and suggested the Bronzino. Also there was a homemade pita bread which was like I never tasted before to dip and use as a backboard for bit the fish and the shrimp dish. The fish was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The shrimp came in a ceramic bowl sizzling and the smell was fabulous. The cost of this meal was $66. I was totally shocked at the price and was figuring much higher for the food we are. read more
