I will say the breakfast bar was better this week, I think because I had the fresh baked pastries! I had a chocolate chip scones, which was jam packed with chocolate chips! Yum yum! The bacon and sausage were most flavorful and I loved their sausage gravy! Waffles, eggs and more! Finally found a place with consistent quality that my wife and wants to go back! We were Staying at the Holiday Inn so after a long car ride it was nice to have a restaurant on site. Full service bar and varied menu. I had the French onion soup which was very flavorful. The bacon cheddar burger was a generous portion with fries and a second side, we chose Cole slaw. Servers were friendly and food came out fast. There was plenty of seating. read more

There is an old and very wise saying.... "Expectations are pre-meditated resentments!" ...unknown Part of my disappointment with this restaurant was driven by a few strategically placed reviews. We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and, while empty, it was a clean and pleasant atmosphere that made us feel welcomed. Our server was very nice, sweet, and friendly with an eager desire to help me spoil my wife with a special birthday dinner. Unfortunately for us, she wasn't very experienced with table table service in upscale restaurants, especially (in my humble opinion) a restaurant that was as understaffed as this one appeared to be. We had to ask for items that we ordered several times because she forgot to bring them with the rest of the items ordered.. We started the food experience with some appetizers. The first plate of appetizers that we got was a plate of tortilla chips served with a spinach and artichoke dip. The chips were greasy and were clearly fried in oil that was ready for cleaning, the dip however was absolutely fantastic in both texture and in flavor. In my opinion it was one of the best spinach and artichoke dips that I have ever had, and if I ever return back to this restaurant, I probably would order that by itself because it was that wonderful. The second appetizer was the scallops. The balsamic reduction was absolutely tasty however, whoever cooked the scallops was probably inexperienced and they served a very rubbery product that ruined the dish. I complained to the server about it and she ignored my issue and continued on. Will circle back around to that part. Finally, the main courses I had deep fried perch and my wife had the salmon both the dishes were actually very good in flavor except the sides were something that reminded me of a downtown greasy spoon restaurant. I probably would've used less salt on the perch if it was me who was cooking it but all in all it was a very tasty fish. Along with my dinner I had ordered a crock of Lobster Bisque, and It was the worst lobster bisque to hit my taste buds. They served it cold on the inside and warm on the outside. and it was chunky from a poorly made Rue sauce and it tasted like it had been sitting a long time or perhaps even microwaved as well. I complained about that, but they, again, ignored me. We ordered dessert and it followed suit, poorly prepared, cheaply served, and overpriced like the rest of our dinner. The final bill was over $150 including beverages on top of that if you included a tip it was about $175. Clearly this is not a place where you can expect a good value for what you pay. When I walk into a restaurant that charges that much money, I would rightfully expect that much service and flavor. Sabba's delivered neither and it's not likely we would ever return there again. Friendly service on a Thanksgiving. Food was very filling and adequate. Highlights of the meal were the Mac and cheese, the smoked salmon and the lemon cake. Misses were the carving station; the person carving the roast had no idea what she was doing. She was trying but serving mangled scraps of meat. They only serve white Turkey with no skin and soaking in its juices with little to no flavor. The room we sat in was obviously meant for rentals. It was loud and not a stitch of warmth or coziness. Even after I mentioned the music was too loud, I think they actually turned it louder. I had heard good things about the restaurant lineage. Makes me hesitant to return. read more

We went for thanksgiving dinner. It was buffet style with a large assortment of different dishes. Turkey, prime rib, Swedish meatballs, beef burgundy, tons of sides, salads and desserts. For the holiday they seat you in the banquet room. I appreciated the fact they leave you enough room to maneuver your way through the tables to get to the buffet. Totally worth the $34.99 not to have to prepare food or clean up. My only suggestion would maybe be a few more toppings for your salad and a few more salad dressings, but that's only because I love salad. read more

Cafeteria food with no flavor. Best way to describe the food. We went for Easter which was a buffet so I believe we got a good selection of their food here. Breakfast is probably made to order so may be why it gets better reviews. I posted a pic of the Easter buffet offerings so you have an idea. The only hot food that was replenished during our hour n half visit was the fried fish which was like fried fish strips. Mac n cheese was made with rigatoni noodles. Everything seriously just needed to be seasoned and I used the salt n pepper liberally. Desserts were obviously frozen stuff. Drinks included were koolade(no sugar) and watered down lemonade. Table service was basically for water and alcoholic drinks. No chardonnay and no pinot grigio. 20% gratuity added for 2 folks. Not advertised anywhere. Very nice atmosphere, Clean and not loud for a Hotel restaurant. Pleasant Staff. Full bar service. We sat at bar for dinner and Bartender helpful in menu options, something pretty much for everyone. Great atmosphere. Walked right in and sat down. Burger had great flavor but was cooked rare when I asked for medium. Luckily I'm a full keto carnivore and that isn't the end of the world. Service was above average, although a little slow and confusing at times. Wife loved the honey chicken sandwich. Coleslaw was unique and tasteful. House salad was nothing to write home about. Thanks to the manager for working with our unique situation. They accepted our cancelled flight, meal vouchers. The restaurant was very clean. The meal was served fresh and hot. The broiled walleye was amazing and it was served with fresh bread, salad, and two sides. Plenty of food for the price. Had a lovely dinner at Saba's Bistro Saturday evening. It was a really nice experience. There were white table cloths and cloth napkins on the tables. The wait staff was prompt and very attentive to anything we needed. The owners were present and even asked us how our meal was and if we needed anything. The food was very good and served hot. I had an excellent entree at a reasonable price. I had the stroganoff for my first meal here and was delighted. They serve a more than generous portion and the dish was flavorful. The vegetables were cooked fully and seasoned precisely. The lobster bisque was good but nothing worth any awards. I give the bartender Karen 5 stars alone... Superb customer service. She was very efficient and paid attention to details. I'll be trying a steak next time or possibly one of the gourmet burgers. I'll dine here again. read more

Saba's was a marvelous find just off thruway and tucked into a Holiday Inn. After a day on the road, a nearby hotel recommended this bistro for dinner and cocktails. The waitstaff is clearly well established and skilled in the fine points of hospitality and graciousness. When was the last time someone used the words "hospitality" and "graciousness" for a restaurant off of an interstate thoroughfare? The menu clearly is well thought out and executed with care by the kitchen. Nice selection. Not fancy but prepared with skill and attention to taste, presentation and temperature. My guess is Saba's is family owned because there are no delays anywhere during the meal. Some decent domestic wines are available. Contrary to earlier reviews, we saw zero sanitation or hygiene issues whatsoever. read more

this place is NOT great at all. fries blackened, dead bug found in lettuce,spilled kids drink went unreplaced, didnt recieve lobster bisque until the waitress was REMINDED. weird colored lighting and weird way of keeping the silverware in a ceramic bucket on the table, not wrapped in anything. waitress used a rag to wipe up the spilled drink on the floor, not a mop, and most of the spill is still there on the tiled floor. the one star is for the biodegradable paper straws since the environment needs all the help it can get. im GENUINELY worried about how the management is in the place. as you can see, all these photos have this AWFUL pink hue due to the lighting... read more

One star for their very good french fries- fresh thick cut w soft centers. The fresh fried perch was one of the daily specials. It, like everything else, had no flavor. We wanted to try a different dining establishment this past Saturday night, something new. While randomly looking at listings of restaurants, we came across Saba's Bistro 1705 in Maumee. After looking over the extensive menu, we decided to give it a try. It was difficult to find at first as we didn't know it was inside a Holiday Inn, but we went ahead to give it a try. This is not your typical hotel restaurant. We were greeted by Amanda, who took great care of us during our meal. The menu was good sized, featuring an good sized array of appetizers, salads, homemade soups, entrees, steaks, and burgers. Beef Stroganoff was my choice and my spouse chose Chicken Alfredo. We started with beer cheddar potato soup, rich and creamy. Both our meals were delicious, obviously made from scratch with great attention to detail. The beef tips in the stroganoff melted in your mouth and the chicken was juicy. We highly recommend this restaurant. This restaurant is a true hidden gem and I highly recommend. I don't usually go to a hotel restaurant unless I am out of town and staying at a hotel, but I heard that the food at Saba's was really good and they weren't super crowded so I thought I would check them out. The wife had the Stroganoff and I had the Filet Mignon, both entrees were excellent. The mashed potatoes were good as were the vegetables. We had the spinach & artichoke appetizer and it was quite good as well as generous in size. The bread that came with the salad was excellent as well. For dessert we had the bread pudding which we heard was fantastic, and it did not disappoint. It was large enough to serve two or maybe three people. My only criticism, and it wasn't enough to ding the overall review, was the wedge salad. I would rather have the salad tossed or otherwise already chopped up, but it wasn't a big deal. The salad ingredients were very fresh, so that was another positive. In summary, it was a very good meal and we will definitely go there again. I should also add that the waitress (Michelle) did an excellent job from start to finish. read more

Oh my, this has got to be one of the worst places to eat. Everything on the buffet tastes like it came right out of frozen food packages and then just heated up. The only items that had any flavor at all was the waffles, sausage links. Everything thing else even the scrambled eggs had absolutely no flavor at all! Our server complained about how short handed they were, I don't need to know that, I just expect to be treated with good service, decent food, etc. in exchange for my hard earned money. Service sucked as we had to flag down someone constantly to ask for drinks, and the place was empty. The empty place should have been the flag that sent us elsewhere. Won't be coming back. read more

Great meals and service. This restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn Hotel, but it is not your typical hotel restaurant. We had stayed in the hotel once before when traveling and came back because of Saba's Bistro. We had dinner and breakfast -- both were excellent. Our server, Joann, was very friendly and helpful. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, go to Sabas. You won't be sorry. read more
